Kelly Jo said...

Yup I'm not watching it! :P

t-dot kim said...

Oh Palmer, you need to check it out! Next week the top 20 perform for the fist time.

PalmerEldritch said...

you may have to convince me. or at least fix me up with some youtubery of the stuff i should be aware of to keep up with blogspot dance talk.

Jordan said...

I know Steph and Holli were talking about it. But I don't think anybody else besides you ladies. Watching people dancing on tv just doesn't do it for me.

memphish said...

Alirio is watching too. I managed to get in the show tonight after all. I'm satisfied with the Top 20. Phillip is probably my favorite so far. I also like Jeanette.

Holli

Stephanie said...

I got Herlihy watching too.
Kim, can you record tomorrow afternoon?
I'm a little surprised that Asuka made it through but maybe I'm just not remembering correctly. The Kasprzak brothers broke my heart. Or more like the show broke my heart. The brother/ brother or sisters or bf/gf just killed me. You know the chances are slim that they'll both get through. It's still heartbreaking.

t-dot kim said...

No Steph, I can't. I work until 7pm.

Stephanie said...

Kim, get with Alirio about a time that's good for you both. Days are better for me. I work weekends. Not very convenient I know.

Alirio said...

I've been watching it, and LOVE it.

Seriously people! Didn't you love FAME when it was on TV???

I guess it helps that I went to a High school that offered dance and I wasn't allowed to take any classes???

Hmmm...

Jordan said...

Typically Chris and Herlihy are always good enough to fill us in on all the happenings in Jolly ol' Britannia. But I'm assuming they were hoping they could keep this one under wraps.

Jordan said...

Twinjury. That's terrible.

OMG PALMER!!!

Bacon Flavored Vodka

Jordan said...

Apparently just like the glorious Baconaise and Bacon Salt, this Bacon Vodka is also made by a Seattle based company. (cue Jerry Seinfeld impression) What is the deal with Seattle and Bacon? Who are these bacon obsessed people?

And for now it's only available here! I know you're jealous. Anybody want me to send them some?

Local news story about Bakon.

Jordan said...

You know that chocolate bacon martini looks good. Don't deny it.

t-dot kim said...

It looks disgusting...

PalmerEldritch said...

disgusting like a fox!

i'd totally try those bacon products. worst that could happen is a slow, lingering death. am i right?

Chris JC said...

The title looks like it's challenging viewers to a dance contest. Me no dance so me no watch.

The tenth Big Brother series (not counting Celebrity Big Brother and the infamous, and bad idea to start with, Teen Big Brother) started yesterday. I used to watch this, but I lapsed and now I'm unable to get back into a new one, which is probably for the best.

I only mention it because one of the contestants looks like the genetic splice child of Naveen Andrews and Salvador Dali. His name is Siavash.

Apparently, his favourite word is "Siavash".

Chris JC said...

Wolverine's in this year too.

Jamie said...

Haha yeah the poor mans Wolverine who still lives with his Mum. Looks like the typical crop of weirdos we get year after year. Luckily I missed the series last year because I was in the US for the summer, but I can see myself becoming addicted this year. I also find the Russian Boxer/Willy Wonka lookalike to be slightly disturbing!

Woah! Weird and upsetting.

PalmerEldritch said...

"a deer just jumped off of the roof of my store and died on the sidewalk. :(

...Walt?

man, that is F-ed up. what was it doing on your roof? besides falling.

andrew. said...

sadly she will not be on Prancing With The Stars this season.

there is a hill behind the store with houses and their yards are are even with the roof. Kids get up there a lot and drink. i guess the deer got spooked and ran the wrong way. it's kind of a media circus out there at the moment.

Is Charlie returning to LOST?

...you probably won't find out there, but it's a bit of a hint.

John V. Holder III said...

Definitely NOT watching SYTYCD. I watched last season, but only because I was in love with the two girls who eventually made the final 4...Chelsea and the brunette...what was her name?

I am going to start watching the U.S. Big Brother in a month or so whenever it starts. I am obsessed. I watch/dvr Big Brother After Dark every night during Big Brother season. So excited.

And I went with Slaughterhouse-Five. Thanks for the advice, yous guys. Apparently my professor taught Vonnegut's child at some school in NYC. Kinda neat.

Anonymous said...

Herls, I too was wondering that but quickly came to my senses.

The ABC promo aired during Game 1 of the Finals. I was like wtf? Why's Charlie there? I don't think they'd plug DM if he wasn't returning as a regular. Then again, he may have just been in LA and they asked him for a cameo. Which is most likely what happened.

I'm guessing no eps have been written for season 6. And if there have certainly no one at ABC has read them. And if they had, certainly they wouldn't be giving out spoilers on an ABC spot.

Maybe if this was NBC or Fox. Then again, ABC does spoil Lost with their previews for next week.

scrdmnkydst said...

I assume that they would be writing the first episodes right about now... if not, then they would be starting soon. Don't they normally start shooting in August / September?

But i assume that they have a pretty detailed plot outline about what is going to happen in season 6.

scrdmnkydst said...

this is in reference to the previous link i posted.

i think that stevi is watching so you think you can dance. i have been watching wipeout and loving every minute of it. i think someone is going to die on that show.

memphish said...

I wouldn't be surprised if someone died on Wipeout. It's brutal.

I'm babysitting my mom cause she had surgery on her toes today, and being a good daughter, I'm watching Don't Forget the Lyrics. It is a giant stinking pile of dung, and if you don't hear from me again you should assume Wayne Brady drove me off the cliff

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

is wipeout good? even though it's not made in japan?

Stephanie said...

Don't Forget the Lyrics is unfortunate because Wayne Brady is a huge talent.

Kelly Jo said...

I frickin love Wipeout! I love watching people get seriously hurt.

Stephanie said...

Take this question as you will.
What is the deal with Keanu?

Jordan said...

Dunno Steph.

How had never heard of or seen this before?
Joe Pesci rapping

John V. Holder III said...

My friends and I were having a debate...

If you could be any Harrison Ford character, who would you be?

The main ones we debated...

President James Marshall
Han Solo
Indiana Jones

memphish said...

I want to be Jack Ryan if I can be a Harrison Ford character.

Holli

memphish said...

So I spent most of yesterday and half of today at my mother's house. She only has basic cable and no DVR. I had not realized how much of my own TV Programmer I had become. At home I'm never at the mercy of what is actually on TV thanks to shows I've recorded on my DVR, On Demand, Netflix, DVDs I own and Netflix's Watch Instantly with my Roku box. It's amazing how fast that has changed from when I was at the mercy of what the execs wanted me to watch.

John V. Holder III said...

Yeah, Jack Ryan was only played by Harrison Ford in 2 films. We didn't really agree on whether or not the other two counted. I was split between Han and the Air Force One president. Han=a lot of cool space travel and fighting and Chewy stuff. AF1=you are the President.

I just decided on Han.

John V. Holder III said...

Haha...the Jamie Lee Curtis cake is half chocolate/half vanilla. Gross.

Jordan said...

Indiana Jones.

Jordan said...

Indy was always on cool adventures, funny, and quite the ladies man. Han Solo is great too. But I don't think it's close.

Ralph- said...

Kirk, find the first episode of this season online. it will be worth your time.

PalmerEldritch said...

would i want to be Han or Indy?

Princess Leia > Marion Ravenwood

ralph-, is it on Hulu or anything? i'm traveling for business all next week so i need shit to watch online from 6 til midnight.

Stephanie said...

Han.

Stephanie said...

I need movie recommendations.

Delayed for a road game? That's odd.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted recently, but I wanted to give you all a heads up...

There is a major casting spoiler making it's way around the interwebs, so tread lightly! I ran across it by accident and wish I handn't.

I really hate when people put the spoiler IN the headline... Fucking idiots!

andrew. said...

- thanks for the heads up Joe. Hopefully Damon & Carlton don't put whoever this mystery star is on stage at Comicon.

- just listened to the Confessions Of An Internet Addict Buffy season 6 podcast. You guys are almost as bad as the Sci-Fi network & BSG in terms of milking this thing for all its worth! ;) just kidding. Great job as usual. I guess i didn't remember much of season 6 aside from the ending stuff.

Stephanie said...

Andrew, my love for Buffy is so great, I have too much to say. I'm still not sure if we will finish up Buffy in the next recording. It might take two more to get out everything I want to say.
Thanks for the recommendations. I always mean to see 400 Blows.
I know what I need to do. I need to do a director marathon. Do a director at a time. Currently I'm watching Fellini's Nights of Cabriria. Maybe start with him. And then go onto Truffaut.
Holder, I've seen them all except for The Monster Squad. Don't know how I skipped that one in my childhood. Maybe I was a little too old at the time it came out.

JoeSC said...

"I've seen them all except for The Monster Squad."

You simply must watch it! It's the only recorded proof that Wolfman's got nards!

John V. Holder III said...

For the love of all that is holy...

Someone please tell me they were watching the Tony's and saw Bret Michaels lip sync (horribly) and then almost decapitate himself.

Why would the Tony's people even consider having this guy on their broadcast?

JoeSC said...

Holder, I couldn't agree more dude! I was flipping over to the Lakers / Magic game and passed by it on the channels and stopped to see what it was and really wish I hadn't.

Bret Michaels just singlehandedly set rock music back 10 years and ruined any chance at keeping Poison relevant on the Senior Circuit.

Maybe the near decapitation was simply a misfire on the part of Karma. It won't miss a second time!

mb said...

Just watched Bret Michaels

Damn that's embarrassing - lol

They sang "Nothin' but a Good Time"?

more like "Every Nose has it's [THWACK]!!"

doh!

Ain't Nothing but a Nosebleed Bret

Jordan said...

Hahaha. That was hilarious.

Jordan said...

"Bret Michaels just singlehandedly set rock music back 10 years and ruined any chance at keeping Poison relevant on the Senior Circuit."

I take it you haven't seen Rock of Love: Bus.

JoeSC said...

"I take it you haven't seen Rock of Love: Bus."

You're absolutely right Jordan. I think that last time I watched VH1 was sometime around the turn of the century (that sounds so weird to say).

They fare better than MTV, though, which I haven't watched since about '97. Once they cancelled Headbanger's Ball and 120 Minutes, I was done with 'em.

Jordan said...

Palmer, Hopefully she gets to kick the crap out of Freddie Prinze, Jr.

JoeSC said...

I know I may be in the minority here, but I think 24 was great this season. The finale was a bit of a letdown, but overall it was 100 times better than that crap stain they called Season 6.

Even though Freddie Prinze is coming onboard, I'm still pretty excited for next season.

andrew. said...

- re: Bret Michaels
that had all of the makings of a classic Veronica Mars episode.
A stage hand, disgruntled that the true art form of musical theater was being ruined by a crass grab for commerical recognition with the hiring of the bafoonish pop music act, kills Bret Michaels by lowering the set early, thus making it look like an accident.
there would have been some red herring suspects like the jealous groupie bimbo, the roadie with a grudge, and the slimeball manager worried that his act is past its prime.
Keith Mars would have been head of security, so Veronica goes on the case, posing as a heavy metal magazine reporter to get close to the band.

- i've only seen season 1 & season 5 of 24 and each time i really dug it but was worn out by the time i got to hour 15.

- new Weeds tonight & that Nurse Jackie show which looks awful no matter how much i like Edie Falco

PalmerEldritch said...

nurse jackée?

Jordan said...

Hmmm. Do I still want to watch Weeds? The last couple seasons have been a bit goofy for my tastes. At it's core, I still like the show. But it's gone downhill with each season IMO. Has seemed as if they are running out of ideas, and there only move was to go more and more over the top.

Jordan said...

there = their.

/obsessed with details

Jordan said...

Back to Bret Michael's and the notorious clothsline from hell. You just know what he has got to be thinking right now.

"Why did that have to happen to me now during the age of the internet?"

Lol. Had that happened 15 years ago, it would just be a hazy urban legend. But now it will live in infamy FOREVER!!! Bwahahahaha.

Stephanie said...

Weeds is new?!? What night? How did I not know this? I subscribe to the newsletter.

Stephanie said...

I caught Weeds on the encore. I thought it was pretty good. Big Ed says he's afraid it doesn't have another season in it. I seem to remember him saying that the past few seasons. Who knows?

Stephanie said...

Hello. Just because Palmer's out of town, no one has anything to say?
What's new?

- i watched Land Of The Lost last night. As someone who finds most Will Farell movies too half baked, I thought this movie was really entertaining and the best thing he's done since Elf. It definitely pushes the pg-13 pretty far.

Stephanie said...

Really, Andrew?
Huh.
I wasn't interested with just seeing the trailer. After hearing everyone rave about Drag Me to Hell, I really want to see it.

andrew. said...

yeah, when i heard about them making Land Of The Lost as a comedy, i just rolled my eyes, but they sort of took the Galaxy Quest route. It's not just making obvious pop culture jokes or belittling the fantasy genre, but sets a comedy in the Land Of The Lost universe.

Has anyone ever seen the tv show called The Prisoner? We watched the first episode today in my English class and I thought of Lost pretty much the whole time. I really enjoy this class.

Also, J.J. Redick needs more pt.

PalmerEldritch said...

holder, http://www.amctv.com/originals/the-prisoner-1960s-series/ has the entire series for free online (at least in the US of A).

i should really check that out tomorrow. thanks for bringing that up(twss?).

Jordan said...

Jimmy Fallon interviews Zach Morris! LOL. Whoever thought we'd get to hear "Friends Forever" again? Hahaha.

andrew. said...

- Holden, i'm jealous of your English class (even though i'm suspicious of English classes that show videos). The Prisoner is an awesome show. Definitely finish the series. It's a lot of fun.

- just watched "The Hangover". It was okay. It opened with a Glenn Danzig song! A lot of the best gags are in the trailer.

andrew. said...

- holder, sorry.

- i also watched "Good Humor Man" featuring Jorge Garcia playing against type as not such a nice guy. It was an okay little indie drama. Judging by Netflix reviews, it was a little slow for most viewers, but i thought it was pleasant & honest enough.

- is Lost back yet?

scrdmnkydst said...

We sometimes watch films of the books we're reading on my English degree. Mainly though it's just for plays so we can see the differences in stage directions. But it's not very often. In my first year we watched 3 different adaptations of The Importance Of Being Earnest.

That and I'm doing a module next year called Literature and Film.

Chris JC said...

A haaaaaaaandbaaaaaaaag!?

scrdmnkydst said...

well, quite.

memphish said...

The Prisoner is some freaky 60s goodness. I'm really looking forward to the remake which is airing in November on AMC.

Holli

Stephanie said...

Andrew, you are talking about Scorsese's Th King of Comedy. Right? I found it here at the library. For some reason I thought of something featuring that black comedian that died last year that I can't think of his name right now. I also have Manhattan, The Bicycle Thief, La Strada, and Sukiyaki Western Django.
I saw Gran Torino last night and cried my eye balls out the entire time. I <3 crotchety old men. Luckily that's who I deal with 40 hours a week.

Jordan said...

Steph, You're thinking of "The KingS of Comedy", which was a stand up special with Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, and a couple others. "The King of Comedy" that Andrew is talking about is the Scorsese film. It's a weird one. One of the more different DeNiro performances you will see. I liked it, in a creepy, strange kinda way.

mb said...

"Has anyone ever seen the tv show called The Prisoner?

Definitely! My dad used to watch re-runs of The Prisoner when I was little and even at 7 yrs. old that show was mesmerising. Glad your English prof is a fan.

andrew. said...

- SAG settled contract negotiations, so no strike. Phew, they can keep making I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here with no interruptions

- yeah, King Of Comedy is a bit odd I guess, probably the oddest one on my recommendations list. I just think its a fun movie by a great director, and i'm always surprised by how little attention it gets. As far as I can tell, it's also the only thing of note that Sandra Bernhard ever actually did.

scrdmnkydst said...

Top Chef tonight! WHOOOOO

mb said...

Oooooh - that's right I forgot! Excellent! Thanks Herlihy! :))))

memphish said...

Top Chef tonight! Not sure if I'm going to like the format where only 1 moves on vs. 1 being eliminated, but it's reasonable given who the contestants are.

We leave tomorrow morning for a big time family vacation. We fly from here to Vegas; spend 1 night in Vegas; take the Kid to see the Blue Man Group (insert AD joke here); then we're going to spend the next 8 days in and around Zion National Park. The good news is I'll be on vacation. The bad news is we'll have no cell service where we're staying, and I'm not sure I'll be able to go cold turkey for a week. Nevertheless, I'll try.

So keep it real while I'm out blogspotica.

mb said...

Safe and excellent travels Holli!

There is now a Top Chef Masters thread on the boards for anyone who has anything to say (like me)

PalmerEldritch said...

andrew., you take that back about Sandra Bernhard(t?). she was in "Follow that Bird" with Waylon Jennings and Big Bird too.

holli, have fun and be safe!

what's up, blogspotica?

John V. Holder III said...

Nice find, PE. The whole series. Sweet. I wanna see how this thing plays out. I really want to know what that white bubble is!!! Haha...so Losty. And the mention of a chess game in the first episode? I don't recall the writers saying this was an influence on the show but it absolutely has to be. So many parallels in only episode one.

My prof. asked us to write an essay on two themes of the episode. I think she just needed something entertaining that would get us thinking about 'theme'. The class is less about reading literature and more about student composition.

So, has anyone clicked that AMC link and watched the first ep?

Chris JC said...

Fair warning: Anyone watching "The Prisoner" expecting answers will be sorely disappointed.

Those wanting a bizarre, esoteric television experience the like of which we'll never see again will be in hog's heaven.
