I was torn between posting the "Jizz in my Pants" video, or the CRAZY XboX grandma (BA BA BA BA BA BA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!)

This IS a LOST blogspot afterall...who's gettin' it today?
(The Season 4 DVD, of course--get your mind out of the gutter)

Steph, I'm almost done with Season 1 of Supernatural. I have 4 eps to go. I (heart) those boys.

I'm going to get my DVDs as soon as I drop off the Kid at school. It's raining here today so I don't even have to feel guilty for sitting at home and watching it.

my LOST season 5 prediction:

now that Future-Sayid has rescued Hurley from Santa Rosa (in the season 4 finale), he will teach Hurley how to straighten his hair to achieve the smooth look that future-ladies love.

also, Kate looks nice with straight hair. so, hopefully, Future-Sayid will pay her a visit as well.

PalmerEldritch said...

further season 5 prediction:

much like his tattoos, we'll have an episode devoted to when Future Jack's chest hair (last seen when he had his appendix out) fled his body (as evidenced by his appearance when playing house with Kate).

memphish said...

So is that one hair episode or an arc Palmer?

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

mini-arcs for hurley's hair, kate's hair, and jack's chest hair.

maybe Sayid tries to straighten jack's chest hair and a bad reaction causes it to all fall out?

i've just seen the trailer for Twilight.

i don't understand how the vampire in Twilight can roam around during the day... surely this flouts one of the major staples of the vampire myth

I'm transfering all my Juliet hate to Charlotte. Man she's a bitch.

Holli

t-dot kim said...

Holli, couldn't agree with you more. I used to HATE Juliette, now I'm leaning toward actually liking her.

I was recapping last year's Lostie's episode, and man, I really HATED her. That reminds me, the "Losties" coming up again soon...we need to come up with some new categories for the Awards Show,

Jordan said...

Women hating on Juliet never made sense to me, and just came off as catty. Women being overly distrustful of other women. Charlotte on the other hand, have at it. I haven't liked her for a moment.

Jordan said...

Save yourself $10 and whatever mental scarring.

3 minutes version of Twilight told by puppets.

Haven't seen the film & never will. But I'm pretty sure there isn't much more to the story than that.

Ralph- said...

i picked up Dark Knight. My sister is getting me LOST for christmas. Sorry, no dvd show this year.

memphish said...

Girls know who you can be friends with and who you can't. Juliet is the kind of girl who can be all innocent and steal your boyfriend out from under you. See The Other Woman. But even with that she's grown on me because I like how she stands up to Jack in particular, and to lesser degrees Sawyer and Ben. I think she made a real turn in the S3 finale where she goes back with Sawyer and says the reason she's going back is karma. Before that she was Every Man for Himself. Now she's more Live Together, Die Alone.

I started watching the extras and it makes me wonder -- is anyone going to be alive by the end of this show or will they all die?

The LOST season 4 DVDs are old news, kids!

Herlihy - there are various vampire myths that have them walking in daylight - I'm assuming in Twilight they can do it if it's overcast but non-diffused direct sunlight would screw them up.

Really, the only problem I have with Twilight is the idea it presents of a young woman blindly committing herself to a man, forsaking any other proper human connection, whose only concession to her seems to be that he decides to be emotionally distant, lest he kill her by accident.

Fucking terrifying.

scrdmnkydst said...

i've read loads of vampire myths though, stupid media studies assignment 4 years ago, and i never heard anything about walking in daylight. I did some in depth research and everything. I went to Leeds Uni's library and everything!

Oh well. Looks gash anyways.

Ralph- said...

I was glad to see Jorma on SNL! I hear that he is playing Chacka in the Land of the Lost movie!

Chris JC said...

Ryan - the Aswang vampire myth of the Philippines pertains to creatures that look and behave perfectly human in daylight and then become flying demon types at night.

In fact most of the versions of the vampire mythos in which daylight doesn't kill them still has them either looking different or having a reduction in powers.

I sound like Fox Mulder.

scrdmnkydst said...

Fox mulder? isn't that a character from that show that totes rips off Fringe? err..... I think it's named after an X Ray or something....

My Effing PS3 broke and is going in for service, hence the "No BluRay" for LOST and/or Dark Knight for at least a week or so. Somewhat bummed out by all this!

Jordan, I agree with your Juliet thoughts...however, I have quite the Charlotte Crush, so I demand everyone leaves her alone!

andrew. said...

- i've been a long registered Juliet hater and i'm a dude by gender so i don't think it's fair to boil it down to being catty. i agree that she kind of turned a corner towards the end of season 4 though.
As for Charlotte, i'm confused by her antagonism towards the losties if she just realized her big goal of getting back to her birthplace. I guess she encountered the Ben & Locke crowd first though, and took a bullet from Ben, so there's reason to be on edge.

- My season 4 DVDs showed up yesterday. I think i'm going to start the rewatch sometime next week so that i can finish up around Christmas.

- season 5: the Cindy season!!!

Chris JC said...

Even if you don't like Charlotte the character, Rebecca Mader seems lovely on the discs.

I can actually talk about the discs now! Who was amazed thazt it wasn't actually Zoe Bell who did Charlotte's "plunge from the tree" stunt?

You may also remember me a few weeks back saying that the scene called the "Frozen Donkey Wheel" was not actually the scene with the wheel - I suggested that this be reflected on Lostpedia's page for "Code Named Finale Scenes", or whatever it's called and got told that it might be a spoiler of the DVD content and that it should wait until the DVD was released in America before it went on there. As a UK viewer of LOST who knows when to avoid Lostpedia lest I learn something I didn't yet know this struck me as really wanky, suggesting that the rest of the global audience were lower priority.

Luckily someone bolder than I made the change anyway.

A series 2 episode of Skins is on and I'm trying not to watch it as I haven't started the series proper yet.

Pretty good explanation of Lost from a blogger talking about the newly released season 4 dvd:

"There are people who have given up on Lost, claiming the show asks too many questions without providing any answers and that the writers don’t know what they’re doing anymore. I’ll be the first to admit, around the early episodes of Season 3, I was starting to become one of those people. But I was wrong, and so are they. This can be observed best by watching the show on DVD, where instead of experiencing the frustration of constantly waiting for a single scene or two from every episode that was briefly shown in the “Next Week on Lost” preview from the week before, you can simply enjoy episode after episode at your own pace. Do this, and it’s clear that Lost is as good as it ever was, and you shouldn’t let how antsy you are to figure out the mysteries behind the show’s intricate weavings affect your enjoyment of what’s going on with the characters right now. Because, believe it or not, the show does answer questions, and if you watch Season 4 again without acknowledging that, you clearly aren’t paying close enough attention."

Wow. Just read that NBC is giving Jay Leno it's weeklong 10-11 pm time slot after Conan replaces him for the tonight show. That's pretty crazy. Pretty much means NBC is giving up on having scripted dramas in that slot. And cuts it's primetime tv programming down by 23%. That's a whole lot less shows to program. And if they are overly successful, you can bet the other networks will take notice.

Chris JC said...

I've finally figured out how to decently get my DVDs onto my iPod for long journeys. So television can get knotted.

t-dot kim said...

J, I heard about that 10pm Leno show on the way home from work yesterday. That's very upsetting. I've never wanted a show/series to tank as much as this one. 5 hours of quality primetime air time a week eliminated--all for a guy who can't say goodbye. (It's like atheletes who play past their prime.) I hope this decision by NBC crashes and burns. Is this because of the writers' strike? No new dramas/sitcoms put into production because of the lockout? I don't like the direction the networks are going.

1 hour of Jay Leno
1 hour of Conan O'Brien (the most tollerable, but probably will be watered down because it being moved from 12:35 to 11:35)
1 hour of Fallon (fuck right off)
30 mins of Carson Daly--1 hour on Fridays.

Seriously?!

anyhow, looking forward to the new TLI episode. should be fun.

Band of Brothers on DVD for $26 at Amazon. nice.

andrew. said...

- yeah, i'm hoping Leno fails. I can't think of any NBC 10pm dramas that i watch now, but it just eliminates the potential for one.

- Jimmy Fallon's house band is going to be The Roots. I have mixed feelings about this. I used to love The Roots, but i haven't liked their last 2 or 3 albums and they were aiming for the lowest common denominator the last time i saw them live. They are very talented musicians, and will probably be a great backing band, but, again, it eliminates the possibility that they will return to their former glory.

PalmerEldritch said...

besides Lorne Michaels, does anyone think a Jimmy Fallon talk show is an exciting prospect?

not saying i hate Jimmy Fallon but his Talk Show registers as a resounding "meh" to me.

Stephanie said...

ryan, it's her book, Stephanie Meyers can make her own rules about vampires. And she has. Basically, vampires are misunderstood and what we know of them are misunderstood urban legends. I'm not saying it's how it should me but that's the rules of her world.

Stephanie said...

Jimmy Fallon? No thanks. He was cute in that baseball movie but that's about it. He's not funny.

Jordan said...

I hate Jimmy Fallon. And I think he is going to be horrible. The only positive out of him getting the gig is that Carson "tool wrapped in a hack" Daly didn't get it.

One thing that really sucks about Leno getting his new show is that it somewhat de-values Conan's "promotion" to the Tonight Show. He still has Leno ahead of him. Leno will probably still get the better guests. Leno still makes more $. So yeah Conan got "promoted", but kinda not really. Sucks for him.

Yeah, it's lame that Leno got the 10-11pm time slot. But NBC was crazy enough that they actually first offered him their 8-9pm slot! Luckily he turned it down. What morons running that network.

For the first time, the sum total of NBC's nightly talk-show hours per week (17.5) will exceed the prime-time hours (17) devoted to everything else: comedies, dramas, reality series and game shows.

It's easy money for the networks.

I will protest by not watching or DVR recording.

It's not like that network has any programing that I would actually record any way.

So they can Frak off...

Fred Segal's a star, and you called dis

You dissed Fred Segal, and everybody knows

You're chilling with your dudes and then they stab you in the face
On the way to the hospital you're bleeding all over the place
Your leg is amputated 'cause you got gangrene
And then you get cancer and you die in your teens

But then this really pretty girl who you always really liked
Shows up to your funeral and that's a real mixed blessing.

Your jello is wobbly
that's ka-blamo!
You met Gilbert God-fer-y

and all of the drinks are old English brew
Your whim is the word of the people on earth
but the whole "mole in the ass" thing is haunting you.
