seriously, what is going on in england?? we haven't heard from jellyman in a while, is he ok? i hope the footpocalypse doesn't cross the pond or we'll all be in big trouble.

[ally] said...

update on the pole dancing outfit: i think i found something i can work with that's comfortable yet dressy-ish.

my friend sent me a text this morning warning me not to wear any lotion or i'd be flying off the pole. i'd really hate to come out injured from this experience. lol.

memphish said...

ARG update. The Dharma Wants You website has been "hacked" presumably by Ruckus Guy/Dan Bronson. After you log in and it says "Volunteer Assessment Coming Soon" let it sit for a minute or so and you'll see it. If you want to know what the message boils down to check out DarkUFO's OGR page. I won't spoil you here in case you want to decompile flash code for yourself.

there are so many things i want from Amazon that i wouldn't even know what to do with $50.

maybe some tv shows on dvd. 30 rock, arrested development...

My car has just been shown on tv during an interview plugging the tv show that's regenerating my home town. i feel vaguely famous.

Ally - "footpocalypse" - LMAO - good one.

and re: Bacon Wrapped Steak... .....holy......holy s**t.....I need that :))))) Time to google where I can get that (stomach growling)

mb said...

wait....DOH! I didn't see the prices!

memphish said...

Boy you guys had boring suggestions. I ordered 4 books. Yeah, boring.

One I'll end up reading in about 1 day. It's total chick lit, but I want to know what happens and they don't have it at the library, so I'll donate it when I'm through. And I got some more Stephen King in my quest for the Dark Tower too.

Holli

scrdmnkydst said...

Mb - Could you not just buy a steak........and wrap it bacon?

PalmerEldritch said...

No. He can only buy it online because he's a vegetarian.

...

what?

mb said...

...and KABLAMMO

Herlihy - of course...if I wasn't LAZY!!!! Food always tastes better when someone else has prepared it....well, usually.

mb said...

lol Palmer (forgot to say)

[ally] said...

it was actually palmer who came up with footpocalypse on the last thread, so i'll forward the kudos to him.

i think they sell those bacon wrapped steaks at the supermarket for way cheaper than that, mb.

t-dot kim said...

So Ally, what did you decide on wearing? I had a couple of friends do that for a bachelorette party, they were told to wear shorts, but the girls that wore leggings/yoga pants had the best time.

I do have some new LOST news--but it's kinda spoilery. MB, I'm going to e-mail you with it. You can tell me if it's ok to post it here. I'll head over to the SPLOG and post there.

t-dot kim said...

Forget it MB, Herlihy already posted my LOST news on the SLPOG. :(

scrdmnkydst said...

i posted something on the splog today... something about new characters...

anyways, bacon wrapped steaks sound cholesterol-tastic. :/

scrdmnkydst said...

WHOO! Go me!

scrdmnkydst said...

Sorry kim, i didn't want to steal your thunder....

although technically you were trying to steal my hinder as i posted that ages ago. tut tut. i would have thought better of you! ;)

PalmerEldritch said...

"although technically you were trying to steal my hinder"

that's what she said?

be careful of friction, ally. you don't want your night on the pole to result in an uncomfortable rash.

t-dot kim said...

LOL...I stay away from spoliers so when I read that news I was like, "Gotta tell the blogspot".

Meanwhile, I'm over a week late--oh well :(

[ally] said...

"be careful of friction, ally. you don't want your night on the pole to result in an uncomfortable rash."

that's what she said!

PalmerEldritch said...

there was much debate on whether i should have split that post up to present you with two opportunities to TWSS it...

[ally] said...

now i'm tempted to go read these week-old news. i wanna stay away from spoilers, but i wanna know what's causing all the commotion.

memphish said...

Check out this wig from Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's LOST worthy.

Holli

[ally] said...

as for my outfit(s). i came up with 2 options, since i was told i needed something workout-ish for the warm up but then something dressy/sexy for the actual class, but yet still needed to maintain the color that was suggested.

option 1: black shorts, hot pink tank top. with black and pink striped knee hi socks.

option 2: hot pink skirt with black boy shorts underneath and a black tank top, with the black and pink socks.

i'm planning to wear my black converse sneakers, unless i'm told i need to wear heels in which case i'm bringing them. i'm also contemplating as to weather i should wear these black arm warmers i have, since i don't know how that'll conflict with the pole.

memphish said...

Brilliant!

Holli

t-dot kim said...

You'll probably be barefoot. (You are a beginner afterall) I like the idea of the 2nd outfit. I HATE pink--so there seems to be less of it in that outfit.

...Ally, also a reminder--we need pictures of this adventure. :P

t-dot kim said...

Holli, LOL!!!
That's sooo funny. I bet it hurt.

[ally] said...

yeah, that's the reason i like the second outfit better than the first, the pink isn't as overpowering. i'm not a pink girl either, so i'm more than happy to be mixing it with some black.

i'll see what i can do picture-wise. i'll probably take some pictures of the silly outfits but not of the actual adventure. lol.

memphish said...

Come on Ally. Aren't they videoing the event? Can't we all pre-order a copy? :-)

PalmerEldritch said...

hey, don't be so down about your lack of posting on the splog, mb.

maybe you need some cheering up?

scrdmnkydst said...

MB - don't worry about it. I saw it on the site i regularly perouse and i thought that you might have posted something a bit more in depth on the splog, but you hadn't so i thought i'd save you the trouble.

No point in working yourself up for not posting much seeing as it is the off season... there's barely anything going on lost-wise.

- that Office teaser was fun, better than the webisodes & 1/10th as long. I love how different the US version is from the UK version at this point, even though they still borrow plot lines (like Michael Scott's date with Pam's landlady)

- The Cricket is looking good ralph. I like the subdued coloring a lot.

- i'm at work for the second saturday in a row. August sucks because everyone else gets to take a vacation.

- Kim, Steelers are rolling your way with a (pre-season) win under their belt, but they already lost their back-up quarterback!

- am i missing something or did absolutely nothing come of the new Lost ARG e-mail? I hope there's some kind of follow-up on Monday.

- Miles Strom showed up in my Oz marathon last night. No spoilers, but even though he's a more earnest character, either his roles on LOST & The Sopranos have colored my impression of him, or there's something about the actor's face, but there's an undertone of asshole.

Ralph- said...

oh my god. i was just looking at some of the Convention Pictures and remembered something awesome that happened.

Hey Palmer and Alirio, were you there when we took over that table to record and totally forced that dude to leave that was sitting there? HA HAAAaaaa....we totally rubbed that dude out! (twss)

He was just sitting there at a mess of a table, me and ryan or palmer? went over there and just started to clean up the table. then the table was starting to get surounded with yellow shirts until the dude just got up and left.

That has to be the greatest moment in the history of The DharmalArmy! That poor sap got FLANKED!

I've just finished watching BSG: Razor. it's around 3am. all the lights are off in my house and i decide to get a drink. i leave kitchen light off because, well, there's no need to have it on.

i'm stood at the sink drinking my drink, i look over and i see a red light. it freaks me out. i thought it was a centurion for split second. dear me.

It was only the light for the gas thingy. this is why people shouldn't watch the entirity of BSG within a two week period. It makes you go crazy. :(

In other news, i want to see new bsg stuff. I wish there was more like.

/late night ramble.

PalmerEldritch said...

ralph, that was awesome. i totally thought you knew him or something. cuz a couple of us were sitting with him and then a huge swarm of people converged and surrounded him. and he didnt leave for while. i went to get extra chairs and stuff. and then once we found a place to sit, he got up and left.

we were all like "does anyone know this guy or did we just take over his table?" awesome. the dharmalarmy at is finest. hostile takeover!

soul caliber iv with VADER. good stuff. glad my friend bought it instead of me. but it was still cool to play as Vader for an hour or so. force choking is fun.

Good - check out The Timewaster Phone Calls by Robin Cooper, AKA Robert Popper, AKA Jack Morgan.

Also available: two Timewaster Letters books, The Timewaster Diaries and a foreword to the excellent Confessions of a Chatroom Freak by Mr. Biffo (good luck importing that one).

i know i am not british, but i do not think that Look Around You series 2 is an abomination of the name!

Sure it is different, but it would have been boring to do more of the same.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PalmerEldritch said...

Chris JC said...

I was initially disappointed with Look Around You 2, but was happy they'd been bold enough to do something else (on the commentary they sound a bit disappointed with the whole thing, except for the live final and the still-impressive bit of work putting in HRH Sir Prince Charles.

The thing with series 1 is that it is such an amazing dead-on impersonation of BBC education programmes of the late 1970s (which were used for many years afterwards) that a lot of that is a joke in itself - when we see the countdown clock and hear acoustic guitar music, believe me it's a big laugh.

LAY2 is less gentle and has some broader jokes, but over time I have come to like both.

Did I ever send you a copy, Ralph? No - I think I sent them to MB along with some ther TV joy.

Immenstrides!

so the pole dancing class pretty much kicked my ass. not on the day of, but yesterday and today. everything is sore, yes... everything!

i'm seriously considering taking up the full course of classes. even though i know it'll be a lot of work, it's really a lot of fun.

things i learned that i didn't know before:

1. how to give a proper lap dance.
2. how to do a pole trick.
3. you don't need to be athletic to do a pole trick.

memphish said...

Ally,

Photos?

Hubby was reading the local Health and Fitness free paper the other day and showed me an ad for a pole class. I told him about your excursion. Then he told me the story of a local woman who was trying to open a studio. It's in a smaller town outside Memphis. They thought she was opening a strip club and tried to shut her down. She finally convinced them it was a legit business then they had to pay to re-install her mirrors under threat of lawsuit.

Holli

[ally] said...

we took a couple of pictures, but unfortunately i had already changed out of my outfit. there are no pictures of us actually doing anything, we took pictures afterwards.

the place where i went is pretty cool, one of their things is having no mirrors so you're not constantly looking at yourself. they want you to just do what you want and not worry about what you look like. i'll post a picture later when i download them.

the tip of my right big toe has been semi-numb all day!!! what's up with that?!

mr. bill, i saw ten minutes of that show and it looked like it had potential to be really funny or go down in flames. i meant to check it out but was, apparently, too lazy. either that or was distracted by something shiny.

t-dot kim said...

No, Douchebag Mulroney will not be hosting the show. Sadly, it's someone worse!!! Leah Miller from Much Music will be the host. I can't begin to explain how much I hate that girl...Anyway. Jean-Marc (a choreographer on the US show) will be the "Nigel" of the Cdn version. Blake, the runner-up in season 1 is also a judge. And I've heard a rumour that Mia Michaels will be a special judge/choreographer. If that's true--I will go to a live taping of the show when she's there. She's got the best dances.

As for T.O. News...The propane explosion was pretty bad. It happened in North York which is Northern Toronto. I live in North-East Toronto, so I wasn't effected. I however, did hear the explosions from my house around 3:50am!! It was a very awkward sound. I guess I would describe it as hearing someone fall out of bed onto the floor over and over again. It was a muffled boom, but I was no where near the site. My friend who lives about 8 blocks away thought it was like War of the Worlds--she said the skies were on fire! Tanks were lined up and one-by-one they just caught fire. It was VERY bad Sunday in Toronto. Major highways where shut down and people were evacuated from their homes. About 50 ppl were left homeless :(

I didn't get a chance to fly over the fire in the chopper on Sunday (it wasn't safe, as it became a no-fly zone). Yesterday (Monday) I did fly over it and took some video. It will be on my youtube page as soon as it gets uploaded. **You can hear Aimee and I discuss this in our latest podcast**

- HEY! I got left off the Chins book list too! I was the quick turnaround between Ralph & Kim, the one that read it :P

- 1/2 way through season 6 of Oz. It's still a great show & entertaining, but there's obviously not much direction this far in. I think season 3 could have been a good stopping point. Next up for TV on DVD = Jericho

- Dark Knight is still no. 1 at the box office. Considering how crowded this summer has been, I think that's amazing. I think there were a lot of movies this summer that would have been event-films if they'd been rolled out in a quieter season.

- in honor of oz: Tits!

memphish said...

Back from the doc. I forgot to ask about the toe P. Sorry.

So the giant vein that runs just west of my left inner ankle has apparently sprung a leak and blood has pooled there between my ankle and the top of my foot causing me pain. Cause of said leak -- unknown and at this point unimportant. Cure for said pain -- one of those oh so attractive lace up ankle braces or if that doesn't make it feel better I can wear my big black boot from the days of when I broke my fibula (and didn't know it for weeks.) Prognosis -- better in 1 week.

So at least for me hopefully The Hoppening will be over in a week.

quote of the day

Get well soon, Holli.

mb said...

Holli - I sincerely hope your foot is relatively pain free from now on. Good thoughts to you :)

(Damn feet - you use them as directed and this is what they do)

memphish said...

Thanks for the well wishes MB and Elias. And for that great video Elias. Still hurts, but I'm trying red wine as a new medicating technique as I wait for Phelps to swim again.

I forgot to tell y'all, my x-ray tech/brace tech looked a lot like Wash from Firefly. If he'd looked like Mal, I'd still be there.

Normally i hate these awkward-white-people rap parodies, but the fact that this video was filmed inside of the machine that could potentially end existence as we know it really makes this something special.

that's what everybody else was saying that she must have some thighs of steel.

[ally] said...

i just heard that the hoppening has migrated to canada!

Alirio said...

It's true! I have suffered a bad-ass toe-stubbing of the nth degree. My right pinky hurts like mad. It actually started yesterday when I noticed my left knee was sore after a morning jog.

That must have awoken the Hoppening and sent forth forces I was powerless to defend.

[ally] said...

and apparently it's not over in the UK either. sheesh! when will it end??

scrdmnkydst said...

It's quite bizarre that all these foot related instances have happened so recently.

Trevor McFur said...

My feet are fine (my wife just snorted in derision). Although, I used to get horrendous ingrown toenails in college, to the point where the nails would have to be surgically removed.

Patient Zero of The Hoppening?

Jordan said...

You guys don't know jack about feet probs. I've been wearing flip-flops the past 2+ months and because of it have terrible calluses that are starting to crack and sting like hell when I walk. Also, a month ago or so, I was bit by some super mosquito and my ankle swelled up to about twice it's normal size, and stayed that way for about 4 days. And most of all, my feet are just really dirty.

Steph and Alirio, I look forward to listening to your podcast when I return. Sounds very interesting!

Tits!

scrdmnkydst said...

"And most of all, my feet are just really dirty"

You know, we do have showers in Europe...

Stephanie said...

OMG! I had my toe nails surgically removed when I was young. Hurt like a son of a bitch. I mean, having my toe nails removed was the most painful thing I have ever been through. Even more painful than childbirth. And to top it off, my toe nails are even more ingrown afterward.

PalmerEldritch said...

part of the fun of first posting is that you're actually commenting on the sheer inanity of first posting.

it's possibly ironic but i'd need to convene a council to make the actual ruling.

anyhow, if first posting annoys you that much, you may want to quit the interwebs now.

PalmerEldritch said...

oh. and will Kim now fall victim to Alirio's reported The Hoppening 3: Footpocalypse in the Frozen North?

Trevor McFur said...

Wait a minute, we're getting chided for being lame dorks by someone who's doing the anonymous drive-by? The only way that's at all acceptable is if he knew how fucking lame that is and meant it to be a commentary on the very lameness he's chiding.

Having the toenails removed wasn't itself painful ... you know, anesthetic and all. But an hour later or so ... wow, mega pain. And my procedure didn't work, either, the nails grew back and were ingrown again. For whatever reason, they just spontaneously stopped becoming ingrown about two or three years after they started. I live in fear that someday they'll return because that was some severe pain.

With all the toenail removal talk the new movie name should be...

Chris JC said...

Ally - nice pics. I especially like you providing the hands-on-hips sassy attitude.

I too experienced ingrown toenail removal in my youth. First examined in a hospital that had closed down except for one room, then had them done in some kind of clinic not far from my old house that I have never been able to find since. Our National Health Service is weird.

Also, the local anaesthetic didn't really take properly - that was, indeed, agony.

memphish said...

Good news on the Hoppening front. My part of Footpocalypse '08 is improving. I'd rate my foot at 75%. Still I'm hoping (hopping?) to make Hubby cut the grass instead of me this week.

"I'm hoping (hopping?) to make Hubby cut the grass instead of me this week."

Are you saying your husband usually cuts YOU?

You shouldn't have to put up with that.

PalmerEldritch said...

my toe is improving!

went to my chiropractor (yay for benefits) and described my symptoms. he had me stretch my upper leg a bunch. now, my toe is still a teensy bit weird but a lot better.

hopefully, it'll be fine in a day or so. not that it was a horrible ailment. just a weird feeling for the tip of yer toe to be semi-numb for a few days.

PalmerEldritch said...

why so serious?

i just got back from lunch only to find that the front door of the building is locked. to top it off, there was no one anywhere near the door so no one could open it for me, i tried my key card and it didn't work!

i ended up having to walk all around the building to the back door. and it's hot as all hell outside! i'm now sweating and still haven't figured out the mystery of the front door.

- the Hoppening hasn't reached Pittsburgh yet. We're constantly dealing with the zombie holocaust though, so i'm not sure we'd even notice.

- Watched the 1st 2 episodes of Jericho last night. I really like the premise but there's a real CBS family television sheen to the whole thing that i'm not sure i'm going to be able to overcome.

- thanks for the photochop link. boredness.

- that Matthew Fox interview was taken down :( too bad, i was kind of craving a little Lost. (PS. wtf Lost ARG?!?! do something already)

- Kim, is there any footage (sorry, sore subject) of you daring the T-Dot ball of fire?

- workplace kept at 20 degrees (Fahrenheit, silly barbarians) disappreciation. (ps. nipples!)
