Listening to Aimberley's part 3. Just wanted to say nice job to Ally. Way to keep up with Ms. professional radio girl.

Best quote so far:

"I'm down with cougars. Don't get me wrong. Cougars are awesome."

Jimmy said...

Jordan...

I am down with Ralph re the Cougars. No question about that.

What Bai Ling pictures?

t-dot kim said...

James, you don't want to know!

elias said...

I echo Jordan's statement - a most enjoyable segment from Ally.

Cougars - nice!

Ha'way The Lads (2-0 and I've lost my voice swearing at the bastard referee)

Jimmy said...

Kimberley,

Chances are I do ;)

Jordan said...

I'm not going to volunteer to find the Bai Ling photos for Jimmy. I was scarred for life the first time seeing them.

And there's nothing wrong with Cougars. I agree. ;)

PalmerEldritch said...

jimmy, does the phrase "freakish sausage nipples" mean anything to you?

uh... that's in reference to the Bai Ling pics, not just a random question.

/or is it?

Trevor McFur said...

Whoa, I really need to get caught up on my podcasts. fortunately, I've got a long flight coming up soon... :)

Jimmy, just google up 'Bai Ling nipples' and see what you find. You'll never look at her the same again.

Trevor McFur said...

To be honest, you may never look at nipples the same again.

Jimmy said...

You know what...you guys have actually put me off looking for those pictures!

The term "Freak'ish Sausage Nipples" have never been in my lexicon...that said, I'm newly in the dating circuit again so there's time, right? :)

At this time, as we prepare to choose the next leader of the free world, lets take a moment to remember some of the golden moments our current one has given us

that's freakin' hilarious, mb.

thanks for the kudos, everybody! if i'm ever allowed to come back on TLI, maybe i'll remember to give everyone a shout out.

PalmerEldritch said...

listening to Losties Part 3 and it kicks ass so far. very cool hearing from Ally.... FUTURE Ally!

that Ralph guy was pretty cool too.

i'm of two minds about the Spoiler Preview though. i want to listen cuz it's our friendly neighborhood MB but i'd like to be spoiler free for eight weeks. haven;t listened yet but i sure might.

jimmy, if you're going to google Bai Ling accidentally type in the actress who played tricia tanaka instead. unless you like snausages. oh yeah, big doctor who thread on the BBS.

[ally] said...

are you kidding? that ralph guy was fan-tastical!

he has some great insight, maybe he should get his own podcast. i think i'd listen to that, especially if he had someone to talk to and a cute giggler in the background. they could talk lost and movies...

Urban Dictionary Word of the Day:

Electile Dysfunction: The inability to become aroused over any of the choices for President put forth by either party during an election year.

I'm definitely suffering from this. Our primary is next Tues. and I could have early voted for the last 2 weeks, but couldn't decide who I'd vote for.

And not to really get political here, but does anyone know of a relatively unbiased website where I can test various claims made about candidates when I get emails claiming crazy various "swift boat" type shit?

1 1/2 days until new LOST!

The British Board of Film Classification:

"RAMBO is the fourth film in the series that started with FIRST BLOOD. It sees the character of Vietnam veteran, John Rambo, return to rescue a group of missionaries who have been kidnapped by Burmese soldiers. The film has been classified '18' for very strong bloody violence."

YES! No 15-rated kiddie action film. Now I should really see the others to "bone up".

Comic Preview of LOST. No spoilers. Best line so far:

Jack: He’s verrrry serious. A joint the size of a piƱata would do him a world of good.

Trevor McFur said...

Holli, check out factcheck.org. It's the best website I've found that looks at claims made in debates and in ads and looks to see how much truth there is to them (Dems and Pubs). They have quick breakdowns that you can read (or sign up to get by email), but they also have more detailed analyses where they lay out exactly why it's true or false.

Stephanie said...

This is my favorite:
SAWYER (Josh Holloway) – The good looking bad boy. Edgy. Dangerous. Defiant. Every girl wants him when he’s 20. When he’s 50 and living in a trailer park he’s lucky if Bea Arthur gives him a second look.

Holli, I'll let you know if that unbiased website exists. I feel like I'm in the same boat.

Stephanie said...

www.vote-smart.org
Looks promising.

memphish said...

Thanks for the website offerings Trevor and Steph. I need something to counter my father-in-law's emails or to make his day to confirm them.

Loved that Sawyer summary too.

This description can't get any clearer.

CHARLIE (Dominic Monaghan) – Dead.

Why can't he be special like Jin and not have to shave. Superjizz AND not having to shave? Isn't that like every man's dream?

Chris JC said...

Yes.

In fact it's a dream I half live with.

I will be gentle and not make it clear which half.

Trevor McFur said...

i can't imagine that I'd ever be hungry enough to eat a canned cheeseburger.

My favorite line:
Locke: good candidate for Scientology.

Stephanie said...

Holli, looks like we have two fewer to worry about; Giuliani and Edwards have dropped out. That doesn't help me much.

Chris JC said...

Did Giuliani mention 9/11 as he dropped out?

You'd think over here in a different country we didn't have to give a toss about the leadership election of another nation, but since whoever gets that job seems to be technically the de facto boss of the world, we have to give a damn.

Whereas you don't HAVE to care who Ruth Kelly is.

Trevor McFur said...

Chris, the only thing that I can say with certainty is that we're not going to re-elect Bush this time. Of the 4 candidates remaining that seem to have a serious chance (I'm excluding Huckabee), at least 3 of the 4, I think, would be a substatial improvement over W. I'm not sure about Romney, though, everything about the guy screams 'used-car salesman' to me. I think that he'd tell me he's going to make the sun rise in the West if he thought it would get my vote.

elias said...

Rambo is drawing me in with promises of ultra-violence and laughable dialogue. Best to skip 1-3 unless you can get them for free and your time is not precious. Hot Shots Part Deux is more worthwhile.

[ally] said...

who's ruth kelly?

PalmerEldritch said...

we need a moratorium on bushes and clintons in the whitehouse. for the love of god, give another last name a chance.

that goes for the John Adams and John Quincy Adams too!

[ally] said...

LOVE the avatar, elias! is everyone in lost mode now? don't forget to watch pop up video lost tonight.

PalmerEldritch said...

forget ruth kelly. kelly rutherford is much more interesting.

and was on a Carlton Cuse show!

Chris JC said...

Trevor: We'll have to wait and see. I'm not about to impugn anyone for their politics (unless it makes them terrifying), and I'm sure George Jr. had his laudable qualities. Certainly humorists are going to have to work harder - like ours did when Thatcher went.

Elias: I'll take your advice. Hilariously I DO own Hot Shots! Part Deux. I reckon that's because all other Rambo films have made the dual mistake of not featuring Miguel Ferrer or having music by Basil Poledouris - something Hot Shots! Part Deux immediately recifies.

Ally: You don't need to worry about Ruth Kelly.

Trevor McFur said...

First Blood was actually a really good, semi-intelligent movie. I think that gets overlooked considering what happened with the other movies in the series. I'd probably rate it as Sly's best film after the original 'Rocky' (admittedly, it's a pretty short list).

It looks like Sly is hauling all of his old characters out of mothballs ... I wonder if we're going to get a update of 'Over the Top'.

Chris JC said...

MB, sir - I've been weighing it up and I've deleted your spoiler special from my machine. I'll catch up with in a couple of months and treat it as a nice recap.

In season 2 and 3 I've been amazed even by the opening scenes - the realisation of what the hell's going on has, on both occasions, been amongst the most enjoyment I've ever got from television, so I guess I'm officially Spoiler Free!

Says the guy who mentioned the

"Bprnavp Fvk"

earlier.

RAMBO: I've actually always meant to read the original novel that First Blood comes from - I understand it to be jolly good. I still think they should have taken this opportunity to make "Rambo II" - the film that doesn't exist.

A sequel to "Over the Top"? It'd probably be called "Lincoln Hawk" as that seems to be Stallone's current naming convention.

PalmerEldritch said...

"Over the Top 2: Do-Over"

In honor of the return of Lost let's share how and when we got into the show. I'm just curious.

My roommate in college would have Lost parties in our dorm room on Wednesday nights. I had class though, so I didn't watch and ended up being pissed at having 20 people in my room every Wednesday night.

One night I was sick so I missed class and I was hooked!! I caught up and bit torrented the rest of the season and have been watching ever since.

PalmerEldritch said...

the girlfriend got into it between seasons 1 and 2. it was then mandated that i borrow the DVDs. i went through season 1 in a matter of days. good stuff.

Jordan said...

I refused to watch season 1 during it's initial run for some reason. Guess I didn't want to buy into the hype. But about halfway through season 2 I decided to give it a try. Watched all of season 1 on my computer with the help of my magic box in about a week. Then caught up with season 2 in a few days. Been hooked ever since. I do however somewhat miss being able to watch episodes back to back to back and sans commercials. You are allowed to get "lost" in the show all that much more.

memphish said...

I watched Pilot Part 1 and thought "a monster; I'm out." Then I somehow bought into all the pre-Season 2 hype, rented the Season 1 Disc 1 and by the time the camera pulled back in the Walkabout office I was addicted. Watched the rest in about a week and was all set for the S2 Premier.

Tivo users you might want to check your boxes. Here's one account:
The HORROR! I just checked my TV downstairs and it was NOT going to record the premiere?!?! The first hour recap show was set to tape, but the premiere itself, "The Beginning of the End," was NOT (they are two separate entries in Tivo... not one two-hour show). D'OH! So you all better check your To Do lists on your machines. My upstairs Tivo had it right. It makes no sense.

And don't forget episode 4.1 is scheduled to run 2 minutes long. You don't want to miss the ending.

Holli

Also there's going to be some Oceanic Airlines announcement during Eli Stone, but don't feel compelled to watch it. I'm sure it will be all over the net the next day.

[ally] said...

I've been watching it from the very beginning. Not because of the hype, but because let's face it, there was nothing else on that day and time. I remember while watching the pilot that it felt like I was watching a movie.

How awesome would it be for Lost to air in giant cinemas? I think my heart would not be able to handle it.

That's what I was like until I saw Exodus on its first British broadcast. Then all I could think about was the fucking hatch.

A Schwarzenegger sequel would be preferable - Commando 2: Going Commando

I watched from day 1. Enjoyed the pilot episode and the first Kate episode, but was blown out of the water by Walkabout. It's still my favorite episode of the series (although Through the Looking Glass is running a close 2nd).

Jimmy said...

Good thread...

An old girlfriend kept telling me all about Lost, and it was about 7 or 8 episodes in. I don't watch much tele really.

So I watched it one night, and fuck me, it was the episode that Boone died! I liked it enough to want to see more, and low and behold, the next two weeks or so were repeats of the pilot and a few older eps...hooked ever since, and now it's more than a passing interest (as we all, know).

Jimmy said...

And...In response to an earlier post in this thread...I seem to remember that it was I (said in the voice of the Emperor) who pointed out that Tricia Tanaka's previous career was far more visually stimulating than anything Bai Ling can throw at us.

Ahh....the 90's

[ally] said...

i like this one.

67. Charlie and Claire have some imaginary peanut butter: Because you cannot get any cuter than having two tiny blondes playing make believe.

Stephanie said...

91. Bernard is alive: Because admit it, you thought Rose was crazy for thinking he wasn't dead too.

I always wanted to watch the show but being from backwoods Alabama, I had no idea of magic boxes and such. I was under the impression you had to wait for DVDs. I remember it was Christmas 05. I rented season one from Blockbuster. Somewhere around Claire's first flashback, hubby inadvertently became hooked. We locked ourselves in the bedroom for about 2 days to finish. With all the reruns we could easily pick up into season two. Yay Lost. I wonder if anyone has successfully picked up via catch up shows.

Stephanie said...

45. Sawyer and Kate reunite after Kate goes back for Jack: Because HE CLOSED HIS EYES, GUYS.

I just watched One of Us and cried like a bitch until Sawyer yelled, "What is she doing here?!?"

anyone else's TiVO or DVR or whatnot saying tonight's Pop-Up LOST (not a reference to the Island's magical fertility powers) is an hour and a half long?

or, for ally and the rest of the TWSS gang, "anyone else notice that tonight it's 50% longer than last time?"

jimmy, i remembered that it was you with the tricia tanaka catch. don't worry. speaking of nekkid ladies, there's prolly a pop-up joke in there somewhere.

So peoples, how's this 'enhanced' ep? I'm not watching it.

Jordan said...

Seeing as none of you fools bothered to warn me, I made the mistake of watching this pop up episode. If there was ever a sign of the WGA strike, this is it. Whoever wrote this stuff is terrible.

And I quote:

"Ben draws a mean triangulated map...and speaking of triangles...there's a considerable love triangle...that has been geometrically surrounding...Jake, Kate, and Sawyer...for quite some time."

If the WGA wants to get the networks to cave, just show them this. Yikes.

Chris JC said...

So would you suggest that it's not worth me investing a lot of time and effort into... y'know... finding out much about it?

I'm watching Breakfast on BBC1 and a man's brought on his Rubik's Cube solving robot, which is fairly impressive, but what amused me more was that as he solves the cube, he plays David Shire's theme tune to Short Circuit. I bet they didn't clear the rights to that.

Ralph- said...

i quit recording the Looking Glass about 5 min. in... BLEH!

Chris JC said...

Fucking hell, Ralph - get some sleep, dude!

memphish said...

Where's my game day pre-episode post?

So I recorded "enhanced" TTLG aka LOST for Dummies. I can't believe they spoiled the Flash Forward with the first pop-up. Way to kill the mystery. Between the pop-ups and the weather scrawl below them, I'm glad I have the DVDs to watch the episode for realsies.

Anyone have any generator ideas for tonight? Our apocalyptic names perhaps?

Have a safe flight McFurs and a great time at the big game. We'll look forward to a complete recap next week. When do you get back?

Everyone remember to check their recording devices and make sure you've got the episode and not just the clip show set to record, and that it's going to record until at least 2 minutes after the hour.
