If not already known before, after watching this video, I think it is safe to say...
Tom Cruise is INSANE!

Anybody care to try and translate?

That's all I could make out, Jordan.
I meant to send you a longer email today but I had to catch up on my 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, and Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Really?

Am I the only one who didn't like Cloverfield. The first 1/2 was pretty good...but... oh well *shruggs*

Did anyone else notice the noise the moster made was similar to the one on LOST?

Finally watched Transformers last night. I'd give it a meh plus (probably need to turn in my Dharmalarmy card). The effects were great, but I couldn't find a way to care, at all, for any of the characters, human or robot in disguise. And maybe I'm the only one, but I thought that the action scenes were a little dull ... watching robots run around and shoot each other gets old pretty fast. I thought I'd like it more, but I'd probably even put it behind Spidey 3 (which had so far been my least-favorite movies of last summer) among last summers big blockbusters.

-saw "There Will Be Blood" last night. Very excellent. Daneil Day-Lewis was awesome, easily winner on best actor for 2007. The score was perfectly utilized, a real character unto itself.

-saw "Juno" last week and loved that. i was expecting to be underwhelmed a little by a quirky comedy like Little Miss Sunshine, but it really nailed it. I understand some of the criticism about the overly-witty dialogue, but i felt like it fell away in the right moments. I think Rainn Wilson was miscast for his scene. The nonchalance and sarcastic dialogue would have gone down much easily with a young contemporary of Juno.

-watched "The Lost Room" mini-series. it was fun. i kind of fluxuated between being really impressed and painfully reminded that it was a Sci-Fi Channel series.

Kim, you aren't the only one. I saw Cloverfield last night as was very much underwhelmed. It was ok I guess. Just nothing special. And I agree, I didn't like the 2nd half of the film too much either. I thought the first 1/3 to half was pretty good for what it was. But after that.....I won't go into it. People here seemed to have really liked it, so I won't rain on the parade any more than I already have.

But I also made a point to see a couple more movies last night while at the theater. Saw Atonement and There Will Be Blood.

Andrew, I totally agree. Daniel Day Lewis was incredible in TWBB. Hands down the best acting performance I've seen in a long, long time. And the score was really good. It really added to the movie, giving it an eerie uneasiness to it. And the last scene was awesome. I'd be a tad bit careful with who I recommend this movie to though, as it is not for everybody or too easily accessible. First off, it's very long, near 3 hours. And secondly, it can be a bit slow at times and isn't exactly what today's average movie goer is looking for. But if you take pleasure in the finer aspects of film, go see it. For film buffs and cinemaphiles, this one is a must see.

Atonement was very good as well. Not exactly my type of movie, but I went with some lady friends. Even while not my perferred genre, a very well told story with interesting characters. Keira Knightley is pretty hot in it too. ;)

Jordan, when she turns sideways, she disappears. She's just a head. Or check bones is more like it.
TWBBs score grated on my nerves. But hey, that's just me.

I think that Keira Knightly looks pretty hot in whatever she's in.

I normally don't go for the skinny chick look. But for whatever reason Keira Knightley is the exception.

Trevor McFur said...

Maybe it's because she doesn't give off that crack addict vibe like so many of the skinny celebutantes.

- i fancy Keira Knightly, i think its her eyes. i have to admit i used to get her confused with Natalie Portman. When i saw There Will Be Blood i saw a trailer for her in yet another period piece about forbidden love. I guess she likes award shows.

- Trevor McFur, you're not alone on Transformers. That movie pissed me off big time. I liked the design & realization of the robots and i liked Shila LeBouf, but i felt insulted by just about everything else.

-i'm on a mission to see Cloverfield before the whole thing gets spoiled for me

I said check bones but meant cheek bones. I'm pretty sure you know what I meant. There's something about Keira Knightley that I do like. Her attitude or her confidence or something.

I was wondering what you meant by "check bones".

My list of movies I saw this weekend:

Cloverfield - i liked it. some stuff could've been better, but i won't complain too much.

Pan's Labyrinth - Kinda depressing, but good movie.

Juno - Amazing! I cried like a bitch.

Transformers - I love Shia LaBeouf. I liked the movie for the most part. Had Shia not been in it, I don't think I would've liked it as much.

I also saw about 10 minutes of El Cantante. Jesus! that movie is bo-ring.
