Holli, you forgot to tell me all about your trip. You know I have to live vicariously through you folks who actually travel.

Sweet Palmer. He even has a man purse, just like Ben.

Steph, Hubby and I are off to Charleston, SC today. Honestly I don't know what we're going to do there other than eat a ton since the weather looks like it's going to rain all the time. I do want to go see the Citadel though.

Just woke up from a nyquil induced 13 hour sleep. I hate being sick! This really sucks. I think I have whatever almost killed Steph a month ago or so. Ugh. Kill me now.

Anybody else here have really crazy dreams when they take nyquil? I mean REALLY crazy. I had some psychotic ones last night. Yikes.

Stephanie said...

ralph-, I said the exact, same thing yesterday about Sweeney Todd the stage play. The only thing I know about it is from Jersey Girl which is my favorite Kevin Smith movie. It's the only one I've been able to sit through. I take that back, I think I remember liking Chasing Amy. Kevin Smith is like Tim Burton to me; I admire them for what they do, they are brilliant at their craft but I don't like any of their movies.
Ben, I remember trying to watch A Mighty Wind when it first came out. I didn't get very far through it. After just seeing This is Spinal Tap, I now get what they're going for. I am now obsessed with Christopher Guest and have watched Best in Show and have For Your Consideration to watch. I will stick A Mighty Wind and Waiting for Guffman in my queue.
Another thing- I hate people who call up podcasts or write into podcasts trying to disguise their message with positive feedback but ultimately their only purpose is to correct the podcaster. What a wanker.

Stephanie said...

I had a dream I bought a ps3 to only watch blu-ray. I wasn't on anything though.
Hope you feel better soon, Jordan. See, you shouldn't work so hard. And you should write me more often.

WESH! good to have you back!

I totally have weird dreams when i'm hopped up on nyquil. and it's not like you can wake yourself up, cause you're under the influence. LOL.

KIM! good to have you back, as well. i was starting to wonder if Dharmalars and TLI had also been affected by the writer's strike. well, i guess they kind of are, if there's no TV if gives us nothing to talk about.

[ally] said...

crazy-ass dreams if you're hopped up on Nyquil, eh? this sounds like fun.

i'm pretty excited for Earl tonight. finally, new TV! and we've got Psych on Friday. and PrisonBreak on Monday (thanks, ally!) and maybe House on tuesday? maybe?

On Nyquil, I don't have bad dreams--but I have the feeling that I'm awake, but my body can't communicate with my brain. Like I'm paralized. "Paulo Lies"

that's kinda how i feel on nyquil, kim. but it goes along with the weird dreams too.

Jersey Girl was sweet but it's my least favourite Kevin Smith film.

I remember renting Toy Soldiers on VHS years ago and liking much-ly but haven't seen it since. Better than Red Dawn? Brave but foolish call :)

I know who'd loose though: all those helplessly terrified people running around in shock, horrified by the materialization of their worst nightmares and either getting crushed to a sodding bloody pulp under domo's humonguous fluffy feet, or being swept from the concrete and tossed in the air and ripped apart by the foul black smoke thing.

(cant wait for lost. does it show?)

Ralph- said...

Wesh said...

no worries ralph, no real spoiler there, not even remotely. just silliness.
I too am fairly spoilerfree. Only watched the first teaser of cloverfield (the one shown before transformers)
I like to be surprized and watch a movie without too much pre-knowledge.

I'd like to be Spoiler Free for Cloverfield, but as we aren't getting it until February 1st, if I remember correctly, then it's not going to be possible while retaining anything like my current internet and podcast behaviour.

oh well, I had seen the recap one allready. Very funny and dry!

Trevor McFur said...

Those are the ones that I listen too. I also listen to Lostcasts, although I might be putting that one on the chopping block once the season starts. I usually give any new ones that pop up in the Lost Podcasting Network one or two episodes to see if they're entertaining or not. There's a handful of live discussion podcasts taped right after each episode, which all seem to have the same 5 or 6 people calling in, and a lot of, "Can you hear me? OK, are you there? Yeah? Who else is here?"

Trevor McFur said...

Wow, those Heroes toys are hideous. Anybody interested in the constipated Hiro one? lol.

I'm doing my bestest to avoid any and all Lost spoilers. Was reading the new Entertainment Weekly with Matthew Fox on the cover and didn't even glance at the Lost article. I remember last season they basically spouted off a couple huge reveals. I think this year I am going to finally stop watching "Next week on Lost". Sick and damn tired of the moron ABC promo people giving away so much in a desperate attempt to gain more viewers. No thanks!

Anybody on here still following the NFL playoffs? I know I am. At least for one more day. Come on Hawks!

PalmerEldritch said...

go 'hawks! and/or packers cuz they're ok with me too.

not sure who i'd rather have win the Giants/Cowboys game since i dont like either team. cowboys cuz of TO and his cocky attitude. giants cuz Eli just seems so dopey. and i don't like Coughlin.

i'd rather the Chargers win than the Colts cuz i think that the Colts are a better team. :)

and i have to go with the Pats over Jacksonville. but i kind of like the Leftwichless Jaguars.

Jordan said...

I too loathe both the Cowboys and Giants. Can't both teams lose? I'd go for the Packers over either of them.

My dream scenario is the Hawks pulling off the upset in GB coupled with the Giants going to Dallas and winning. That way the NFC Championship game would end up in Seattle! Woot! Highly unlikely. But hey, it could happen.

In the AFC I'm going for Jacksonville and Indy. Sorry Palmer, but you have to count me in with the rest of the country in hating the crap out of the Pats right now.

Besides rooting for my Hawks, my biggest thing is I deathly do not want to see a NE/Dallas Super Bowl. I would rather shoot myself in the foot than watch that. Ugh.

Chris JC said...

My old call about Simon Pace's accent and Charlie's guitar (with the Dalek intro) is probably just a tad out of date by now, what do you reckon, Kim?

Chris JC said...

I'll see if I have time to come up with something and, crucially, record it without irritating anyone (I tend to record a little loud). If I don't make it, I'll get something together for the next one.

I'm just excited for new TLI - I'm a big fan.

t-dot kim said...

Will you be Mr. Chris or Ghostwatch? ;)

Chris JC said...

I think I'll stop being Ghostwatch now - 'tis a silly name, especially as I now regularly appear on Podcasts as Christopher (regularity of podcast appearances soon to take an upward swing)

As a final hurrah:

Ghostwatch
Ghostwatch
Ghostwatch

That last one mentions two other awesome bits of TV, The Stone Tape and Children of the Stones (although it falsely attributes Children... to Nigel Kneale).

Chris JC said...

And finally, I may as well clarify my original point:

"I had noted Pipes only four times during my first viewing, all pretty overt: that initial videotape, the opening of the storeroom, in a burst of static, and one brilliant moment when the cameraman turns around in the girls' bedroom, passing Pipes in a quick swish-pan... then when the camera snaps back, he is gone. Great moment."

Essentially the Jacob reveal in reverse.

PalmerEldritch said...

i can understand not liking the Pats, jordan. i'd be pissed off if Randy Moss had gone to the Colts for a 4th round draft pick or whatever it was. lucky for us Pats fans, Oakland made that horrible trade with us.

i'm just hoping that Brady isn't in every other commercial next year like Manning is this year. ugh...

PalmerEldritch said...

throw in a KABLAMO! in my last post, would ya?

and for everybody's favorite kim, an article about tim horton's!

mb said...

Thanks for the heads up earlier Kim!

If anyone wanted to wander over to the BBS in the Lost section there's a cool new thread you might want to spout your opinion on.

just sayin....(like Kim) ;)

Jordan said...

I don't see how anybody who isn't a Pats fan can like Randy Moss at all. After dogging it in Oakland because his team sucked, he miraculously turns it on again once he's on the best team in the league. Then after he breaks Jerry Rice's record (which Rice set in 4 less games btw), Moss has this gem to say:

"I don't think me breaking Jerry Rice's record is special," Moss said. "I think shutting you guys up is what made it special, all the negativity, all my critics."

Nice Randy, real nice. You didn't shut up anybody. All you did was prove what a bitch you were in Oakland. Very classy. Fits right in with Belichick & Rodney Harrison. ;)

I hope all the Lost podcasters are training to get back into regular season shape. We're getting ever so close.

And as for new Lost casts popping up as alluded to earlier. No thanks. Even if they're good. I'm at my limit as it is, and even have found some of my old regulars are slipping out of my rotation. I can only listen to so many people say the same shit over and over. lol. Plus, this place is probably the best collection of thoughts, opinions, and theories out there. Nothing against all the awesome caller segements, of course. ;)

Can't wait. Go Lost & Go Hawks!

Trevor McFur said...

My ranking of who I'd like to win the Superbowl, based on who I dislike the least:

1) Packers -- how can you not root for Old Man Favre and a bunch of youngsters?

2) Jacksonville -- always been a fan of the Jags since they traded for Mark Brunell from the Pack when the Eagles wouldn't pull the trigger in the mid-nineties. Eagles wound up going with a rotation of Rodney Peete, Ty Detmer, Bobby Hoying and, of course, Randall Cunningham, that set them back years, until Reid and McNabb rolled into town in the late 90s. Not that I'm bitter or anything...

3) Seattle -- this one's for you, Jordan. But no offense ... the Seahawks stink this year.

4) Colts -- I used to be a big Manning hater because by brother-in-law is a Colts' fan. Since they've won the Bowl, not so much.

5) Chargers -- this is a team that I want to like, but damn, they talk a lot of trash for a team that's never made it past their first playoff game. And they bitch and moan A LOT. I've not looked at LT the same since he stood in front of the cameras and cried and complained because the Patriots made fun of Shawn Merriman's TAUNTING dance.

6) Giants -- hard for me, as an Eagles fan, to rank the Giants this high. Just goes to tell you how brutal the bottom two choices are. Plus, I can't stand Tiki Barber, and I think that his smug head would explode if the G-Men won the big one the year after he retired.

7) Pats -- any other time, they'd be my most hated team. An obnoxious bunch of cheaters with an arrogant coach and a fanbase so annoying that they make Yankees fans look like pikers, there's just nothing to like about them. Except for one thing, they're not the...

8) Dallas Cowboys -- Number 1 rule as an Eagles' fan: the first team you root for is the Eagles. The second team that you root for is whoever is playing the Dallas Cowboys. It what my dad taught me, rest his soul, and it's what I'll teach my children. It's that simple.

Anyway, my picks for the weekend:

Cowboys over Giants -- Romo in Cancun with the worst of the Three Jessicas? Who cares, the Giants stink.

Pack over Seahawks -- Favre at Lambeau against a bad Seahawks team? Yeah right, because the Seahawks stink.

Colts over Bolts -- Easy win for the Colts. The Chargers have one of the worst coaches in the league, the Colts one of the best. Plus, the Chargers stink.

Pats over Jags -- Jags don't stink, but this isn't a good matchup for them. But the Pats are just the better team. The only serious challenge that stands in the Pats' way to 19-0 may be the Colts next week.

I honestly think that there's gonna be 3 blowouts, and that the Pats/Jags will be close for 3 quarters, then the Pats will pull away in the end and win by 2 or 3 TDs. Come Monday, if I'm wrong as wrong can be, then it's just the 3 margaritas talking.

Jordan said...

Trevor, That's the 2nd time you've said the Hawks stink this year. The last being before they went to Philly and beat the Iggles. ;)

I'll admit that they aren't as dominant as they were two years ago, and just as many teams in the league have some deficiencies. But they most certainly do not stink. Typical East coast opinion. Everything west of Chicago is garbage. My crappy Hawks just happen to be 8-1 against the NFC bEast over the past 3 years, including knocking out the Cowboys and Skins (2 times) out of the playoffs. But yeah, they suck.

Rant over. :P

I wouldn't bet money on them to win tomorrow. But I said the same about them in the 2nd round in Chicago last year, and they went to OT against the Bears. Winning on the road in the playoffs ain't an easy feat. But they got experience and as good shot as anybody. As far as I'm concerned, when you're on the road in the playoffs, you're playing with house money.

And Trevor, If it makes you feel any better. Out of all the teams in the obnoxious NFC, I hate the Eagles the least. I HATE Dallas, New York is right up there, and I can't stand Redskin fans either. Philly is just Philly. Maybe it's cuz we always beat them. ;)

Here's my rooting order. Although it obvious drops off drastically after #1

1 - Seahawks
2 - Packers
3 - Jaguars
4 - Colts
5 - Chargers
Now begins the teams I dislike
6 - Giants
7 - Patriots
8 - Cowbitches (I F'N HATE THE COWBOYS!!!)

One more time. Go Hawks!

elias said...

This is probably all wishful thinking but I may as well make you all laugh with my predictions:

Giants over Cowboys
Hawks over Packers
Colts over Chargers
Jags over Pats

Please anyone but the Patriots or the Cowboys - apologies to any fans present.

Chris JC said...

"My desktop says it's only 11 days until Lost. That sounds too good to be true."

There's a good reason for that. You may want to adjust it.

Trevor McFur said...

Unfortunately, the Eagles kind of stunk this year too... :( And I don't think that everything west of Chicago is garbage ... I'll have you know, Chicago stunk this year too (as did most of the NFC). If it means anything, I do believe that Seattle was the better team in that Superbowl 2 years ago (even if I think that they're frauds this year).

Even though I'm only 35, I'm really just a grumpy old man who believes that no teams today are as good they were back in the day when I was coming of ago. You know, the 80s.

Jordan said...

Elias, If your predictions came true, I'd be ecstatic. My main wishes right now are 1) Hawks win, 2)Hawks host NFC Championship against NY, 3)NE & Dal lose. Thing that sucks though is each of those are less than likely. We can dream though, right?

Stephanie said...

The Smiths watched 3 the other day. We found it unintentionally humorous.

PalmerEldritch said...

some parts of T3 are awful. but some parts of T2 are awful too.

teaching the Terminator to be "cool" was awful. in fact, just about everything with Eddie Furlong is terrible. and wise-cracking Terminator is awful.

parts of T2 are great though. Linda Hamilton was fantastic. and the T-1000. and Arnold when he's shooting things.

and there's the kid from 'Salute Your Shorts.'

oh. something awful from the original Terminator movie: linda hamilton's hair.

anyhow, go 'Hawks and/or Packers!

huh. Seahawks already scored? yeesh...

Chris JC said...

I'm interested in the idea of a Terminator TV series (even though it boots T3 right out of the continuity - which is a shame as I quite liked it, it had it's problems but had a decently bold ending, that even Cameron might have been hard pushed to deliver).

Thanks for Virgin 1, we don't have to wait seven months for it.

casey_donahue said...

I'm probably going to watch it seeing as how T2 was one of my favorite movies growing up, but the fact that an all futuristic terminator 4 is in the works with no arnold and no james cameron is a depressing idea...even moreso that the guy currently in line to direct it is "McG" that one name having bastard.

Trevor McFur said...

I've heard some decent buzz about the Sarah Connor Chronicles (terrible name, btw), which is completely opposite the bad buzz that was coming out before Bionica Jones. Plus, Summer Glau is a geek goddess. So I'm cautiously optimistic, and going in with an open mind.

Really good games today. Almost all of my predictions were wrong (except for what I said about the Seahawks ;P ).
