Did you notice over Eko's picture it says "Jacob Loves You"?

I bet you did!

mb said...

2nd...woohoo!

I had not noticed that - you lost the bet :)

Nice to be able to talk about Lost a bit again.

In answer to palmer's last post from the prior thread -- just as long as there's no nipples in the Batsuit. And the Animatrix was the best part of the Matrix sequels. Hopefully that's not the case with Bats.

t-dot kim said...

Dang! I should have put some $$ down, MB :)

mb said...

You taking flight today Kim?

t-dot kim said...

Yes I am. In about 2 hours, I have to do some REAL work...no internet in the helicopter :(

I need to work on that

mb said...

iPhone Kim, iPhone...

wait...no forget it, I don't want you to crash - or is someone else piloting?

t-dot kim said...

Me fly...NOOOO! I wish. I have to wait until Summer '08 for an iPhone (well a legit one that is). DAMN YOU CANADA!

mb said...

DOH! I forgot they're not in Canada yet - sorry!

Also, forgot to post on the last thread - a couple small casting info bits at the SPLOG

memphish said...

Who's getting Blu Ray? I want to know what happens when you Lift That Cover? Why doesn't my non-Blu Ray box have that? I blame Blu Ray discrimination.

Have fun flying Kim.

hmmm... guess i won't post in the last thread, there being this one and all.

and the return of T-Dot Kim! only for her to take flight again mere hours later.

anyone have their DVDs? the blu-rays are late editions to the christmas list. i did a lot of mental back and forth on whether i should ask for the DVDs or the blu-rays. then i got greedy.

t-dot kim said...

I'm going to stick with just the regular old DVDs for now. I can't decide between HD or Blu-ray!! I don't want to spend $500 on a new player anyway.

Remember in the early 80s... Beta vs. VHS? (Before my time, really ;) )

PalmerEldritch said...

re: Kim's first post

Jacob is Eko's ex.

my PS3 plays blu-rays so i rent those. i hope blu-rays win out so i don't have to buy a new player. if my video game machine can function as my HD player for years to come, i'll be a happy man.

re: the iPhone in Canada.

I know way too many people who flaunt it in my face whenever they can that they know someone who knows someone who was able to hook them up to an iPhone. Jerks.

Also posted the link at the SPLOG, along with a couple of questions I have re: the pics

oh - I guess that one needed a KABLAMMO as well

thanks for the pics, mb! it looks like claire's got a bad wig job already. i hope that's not her real hair!

memphish said...

From recent pictures I've seen of Emily de Ravin her hair is short, so Claire hair would have to be a wig. There's a dilemma for you -- cut your hair and be stuck with a LOST wig or leave your hair long.

Ok, so I've found out that my mum is getting an iPhone for her birthday. It's not in HK yet, but my dad's tech guy is fixing it up for her...

I'm annoyed.

[ally] said...

A lot of people seem to be doing the non-legit thing when it comes to the iPhone. Like my co-worker just got one for his birthday, and he doesn't even have Cingular/AT&T. He's using T-Mobile and the T-Mobile people seem to be ok with helping him getting it all hooked up.

Pah, we've had those DVDs for ages - and to think all we've had to do is to spend twice as much for them!

Morning, guys.

memphish said...

Don't rain on our little LOST parade Chris.

I like those AD ideas Steph.

I noticed that the iPhone in the current TV ads here in the US doesn't have the latest iPhone software on it. It's missing the iTunes store button.

If you haven't found it yet, seek out Missing Moment #6 at DarkUFO. It's called "Room 23."

Leaving to get my ridiculously cheap by British standards DVDs in 10 minutes!

Michael: Yeah, I saw Jan in Jamaica...in our room...at night...and in the morning...but that's all.

...yup, I had sex with her. Sex with Jan.

I'd just like to say that I have never felt more dirty hearing the word 'sex' then when Michael said he had sex with Jan. *shudder* Eugh.

[ally] said...

The only thing funnier than Michael Scott talking about having sex with Jan was him trying to "get back" the picture he had emailed around the office of Jan's topless sunbathing.

PalmerEldritch said...

Missing Your "Stranger In A Strange Land?"

*warning!* article is about an epidemic of emasculations in thailand

but it reminded me of jack's adventure in Thailand (aka Weekend at Bai Ling's).

[ally] said...

Sheesh! So cutting it off is not good enough, they have to go to the extreme and chop it up? Remind me not to mess with those people. They're worse than this lady.

Anonymous said...

Poor Jan. I really didn't see the end of that episode coming. I mean...ew. Michael Scott.

And oh my god, Dwight! Poor Angela. She was so cute. And I really liked how she did her hair in those twirly buns.

Ryan: Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi.

Stanley: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA you sounded like my six month old niece!

Or was it year? I can't remember. I love this show.

[ally] said...

good to hear you're enjoying the show, gillian. so is it season 2 or 3 that you're on? both of those seasons seem to run together to me, for some reason.

Anonymous said...

Season three. I can't find a good link to watch the Benjamin Franklin episode on, so I've skipped ahead to Phyllis's Wedding.

Dwight's back!

[ally] said...

so you're almost all caught up. phyllis's wedding was awesome.

Michael: Webster's Dictionary defines wedding as the fusing of two metals with a hot torch. Well you know something? I think you guys are two metals. Gold metals.

t-dot kim said...

I miss The Office :(

t-dot kim said...

....oh ya, and LOST

Anonymous said...

Michael: Yeah, I've been to a wedding before. I was the ring bearer at my mother's wedding, and I was understandably emotional, and somehow, my pants got wet...

Anonymous said...

OMG

Ok, ok...

Dwight: I saw Wedding Crashes accidentally. I bought a ticket to go see Grizzly man, but went into the wrong theatre. After an hour I figured I was in the wrong theatre, but I kept waiting. That's the thing about bear attacks-they come when you least expect it.

Oh, Dwight...

memphish said...

So here's my S3 DVD review. Yes you must buy them because admit it, you are a LOST fanatic and if you need to see that "salty" scene again, you need to have the disc handy to accomplish that. But there's not very much to the "extras." There are only 4 audio commentaries. The other stuff is okay, but not earth shattering. After 3 years we kind of get how they make LOST, so there's not that much to add. Supposedly the Blu Ray sets are going to have some sort of interactive component the same that's supposed to go along with the G4 and SciFi reruns. I'll have to wait to hear from Ralph to confirm that.

Gillian, How long did we try to tell you that the US Office was good? Tisk tisk on taking so long. lol. I was the same way originally. The British original was so wonderful, I was affraid of an American bastardization. But the US version is so good and very different from the original. Good stuff. Glad you're having fun G. I wish I had new episodes to watch. :( Damn writers strike! (shakes fist)

Jordan said...

I blu-ray with my PS3 like Palmer, but no dvds. I know it might be considered taboo here. But I don't own any of the Lost dvd's. Maybe I'll netflix season 3 to see what it's like?

[ally] said...

Since you're throwing yourself in the fire, Jordan, I guess I'll go down with you.

I confess, that I also, don't own any of the Lost DVDs.

[ally] said...

Those hands are weird. I can see having them at home, but bringing them out in public, like the hospital, I would be embarrassed to ask the nurse to use them.

Ralph- said...

only 1 of the 4 commentaries is worth mentioning. this is easily the weakest of all seasons, as far as the commentaries go.

memphish said...

Aargh. I was afraid of that Ralph. I agree this is the weakest set of DVDs. Still I'm glad I have them. I can free up my DVR hard drive.

For the ladies of the blogspot. Men can watch, but you won't enjoy it as much. Aimee this should get you out of the woodwork.

Trevor McFur said...

Interesting article about the Writers' Strike. I said interesting, not happy. You wonder how long it can go on before the writers wind up caving ... it's not like most of them have the financial resources to be out of work for this long. If it stretches into the spring, will the scripted shows be the same as they were when they left?

Trevor McFur said...

And I don't own any of the Lost DVDs either. I might be in the minority, but there's actually only a handful of episodes that I've watched even more than once.

[ally] said...

Not owning the DVDs might be more common than we thought. Leave it to Jordan to get us non-owners out of hiding.

Ralph- said...

i get the DVDs as soon as possible, because i love doing the show for you guys. that may sound sappy, but it is true.

Thanks for the work Ralph. We truly appreciate it. You too Ben and Ryan.

For a 69 Kablamo, try a Striking Writer's Martini.

The Striking Writer Martini
2 oz vodka "to fortify against the cold Strike Winter"
2 oz cranberry juice "as the writers are seeing red"
1 oz sweet and sour mix "they’re grateful for solidarity in this bitter struggle"
4 drops vanilla (or use vanilla vodka) "to symbolize the 4 cent raise they asked for"
"There’s no cherry in this drink, as writers aren’t getting a piece of the pie. Garnish with a half a redvine, as they hope to be back on the set soon."

so, lost related question:

who are you guys and gals most looking forward to a flashback of?

who are you guys and gals most looking forward to a flashforward of?

/were those prepositions i ended those sentences on?

memphish said...

I've made it through eps. 1-4 of S3. They should have reversed the order of Glass Ballerina and Further Instructions. I'd kind of forgotten by the time James Ford says "we got one of them" that it had been 2 eps. since Little Miss Sun-shine had shot Danny's girl, and that's only with a 1 day not a 2 week break. I'm dragging my heels on watching Cost of Living cause I really hated that episode the first time around. I'll probably get around to it later today. I've got more Xmas card envelopes to seal, address, stamp.

As for flashes -- I want to see a Sun/Jin flashforward to know if the baby kills Sun or not. I want a Kate flashforward to know why she isn't in jail. As for flashbacks, I want Ben . I'm pretty sure he's the only person other than maybe Desmond and maybe Sayid I'll be in the mood for a flashback with.

And according to Grammar Girl you can end sentences with prepositions if the sentence doesn't make sense without it and rewriting would make the sentence unnecessarily wordy.

I'm going to get this quote wrong, but my favorite quote from "My Name is Earl" from the episode a few weeks ago where Darnell gets stuck with the birth-inducing drugs:
"I don't know what's about to happen, but I think it's going to have to happen over water"

Hey Palmer you asked about Burn Notice recently. Hulu has the first 6 up now. You'd think NBC would consider running it if this strike persists. Please let this strike end soon.

andrew. said...

- well, it looks like the writers' strike is already having a significant economic impact on the big networks, and this time of year is usually a no-man's land for regular programming anyway. Yahoo News Story
After the new year, it's going to be brutal.

-MB: My favorite "My Name Is Earl" quote is from the same scene. It's something like 'Damn Darnell! You're bogarting my inducing drugs!' For some reason, that really cracked me up.

-Hiatus-from-hell TV-On-DVD recommendate: Extras! I never watched this because as much as i loved the UK Office (so much that it took me a while to warm up to the US Office) i was always wary of Ricky Gervais. This show is hilarious though. It had me laughing out loud a lot, which i otherwise rarely do. It's kind of a British version of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" with famous actors assassinating their own character.

Chris JC said...

That's an upsetting article, Elias. I have no interest in boxing whatsoever, but I have a huge interest in forming precious childhood memories (especially televisual ones, as vast swathes of kids TV these days are hateful, forgettable toy tie-ins), and so it's a shame to read.

Perhaps they were just jealous as our national anthem is one of the dullest tunes ever penned?

Andrew, that's the first article I've seen that gives any indication that the networks might be suffering a bit from the writers' strike, too.

Also - didn't think about how expensive it would be to live on Oahu when your out of work

[ally] said...

I just read about that, MB. I didn't know if you already knew.

Bummer, either way I don't think it'll be good, the only good thing would be for the strike to end.

memphish said...

I've been speculating LOST will move to Thurs. at 10 now that ABC has cancelled Big Shots. Seems to me though if the strike doesn't settle they could stick it anywhere. Why they'd move it from Wed. under those circumstances is baffling though.

What I'd like to see happen is move Private Practice to Thurs. at 10 and put LOST on Wed. at 9. But the word earlier this season was that ABC was going with Wed. as a ladies' night lineup, and LOST supposedly doesn't work with that.
