Claire's jilted, Smokie's pissed and I think Widmore just shit his pants.
I totally thought Bernard was gonna deck Jack after the "flirting with my wife" line.
I guess Locke was always destined to (almost) kill someone with a single-engine Cessnas / Beechcrafts... and I thought his life couldn't get any worse.
I wanted to cry so badly. Not even Sweet Hurley could move me to tears. I did however nearly have a panic attack while they were in the sub. Probably more to do with my claustrophobia than the writing. Excellent episode none the less. Next week, we get answers?
oh. and, holder, from the last thread... they recorded that 'Lars episode before Ryan moved to Catalina Island a few years ago. it's either an elaborately researched ruse, or an old episode that they reposted.
and Kate and Sun? what about Shannon and Claire and Ilana?
Damn that photo made me lose all my LOST tears and erupt in laughter.
It is so wrong that Kate lived and Sayid, Sun, Jin and apparently Frank died. They physically made a damn triangle on the beach. Why oh why doesn't anyone on the writing staff get that everyone else on earth got over the triangle at least 2 years ago.
So, this is my big question (and will either affirm or disprove that Sawyer is a douche)...
...would the bomb have exploded if Sawyer didn't pull the wires? Was Jack right and Sawyer pulling the wires meant that he was now going to kill them and not Smokey?
Sayid's gesture was heroic, but they didn't build it up enough, a la Charlie.
Why did Sayid wait until he was about to die before telling Jack about Desmond?
Apparently Smokie CAN swim.
Sawyer is still, at best, the 2nd best con man on the island.
We saw Hurley cry for what I think was the first time, immediately followed by Jack crying which we've all lost count of how many times.
I agree about Bernard looking like he wanted to punch Jack.
If I had been doing Jorge's drinking game where you take a drink every time someone mentions a former episode title, or whenever Jack references "dural sac", I would have been slightly buzzed right now.
I like the comment above about Widmore and Smokie in it together. Beautiful long con they pulled on Ford. I hope Desmond gets to kill Charles.
Palmer...that episode wasn't recorded a few years ago. They JUST recorded it and they were messing with us. Right? Can someone co-sign that? It's the most brilliant fucking podcast ever and no one is giving it any credit.
Nah I think the bomb would have blown up anyway. Because what if Jack hadn't looked in his backpack until like 5 minutes later after the timer ticked down? All that planning for nothing? I think Locke was hoping Jack wouldn't look in the backpack, that way everyone would die in the explosion.
UNLESS he and Widmore planned for one of Widmore's men to shoot one of the Losties but still get on the sub, meaning Jack would need his first aid kit and then find the bomb and then KNOW that Sawyer would be a douche and pull the wires.
The first options works better for me.
Oh, and did anyone NOT know Locke switched the backpacks?
- Holder, you're right about the LARS episode. that's why i posted 'i remember voting for Distortion in 2007 too' i meant to add *wink*
- Aimee, i have to vote thumbs down for that picture of Yunjin Kim. We all know the Sun is hot, but i'm not sure what crack in the Earth that thing crawled out of.
- i don't think there's anything preventing Widmore from killing any of the candidates, so if he were working with Locke he could have just shot everyone.
Yeah, I andrew. I thought that's what you were doing but I wasn't sure. I didn't know what Mtn Dew shit they were talking about so I just figured I didn't hear about it back in '07. But then at the end Ralph said "latress on the menjay" (from 'i love you man') and I (like i said before) had a "we have to go back, kate" moment. Then I looked up DEWmocracy and went back and listened to the whole podcast again and picked up on a bunch of other shit. It was like watching an episode of Lost haha. I bow down to you, Dharmalars.
I was fine with Sayid's death. To compare it to Charlie's...well...it wasn't as dramatic and it won't be as iconic, but at least Sayid's death made sense.
doh. forgot to DVR the Dharmalars' own Ralph- in the audience of Jimmy Kimmel tonight. guess i'll watch it online sometime soon and scour the audience for mr. apel. oh. and jorge garcia's a guest. that ought to be cool too.
I think they keep mentioning the "dural sac" because that's the only time that Jack's messed up in surgery, with the story he told Kate in the Pilot? I don't know.
I loved this episode. I was "FUCK FUCK FUCK"ing at the screen when Sayid arzted himself.
At this point, I know it's not likely to happen, but I'd actually really like to see Flocke turn into the smoke monster, not just run into some bushes and then turn into it. I know it's not an important thing, but I'd just like to see it because I kinda think it would be really cool.
Weird that it works that way. But I can't complain. There's been weirder. Like Jack came back because of Kate but he really didn't. Still doesn't make sense to me.
I love LOST. Ya I said it! RIP Syaid,Sun,Jin,Frank. DEATH To Smokie!!! I don't think the bomb would have went off if Sawyer wouldn't have touched. That being said I think Jack lit the Dynamite with Alpert. Kinda the same as Sawyer messing with bomb? They are both Canidates?
" not just run into some bushes and then turn into it. I know it's not an important thing, but I'd just like to see it because I kinda think it would be really cool."
Really it's not like the special effects on this show are anywhere close enough to make that look even plausable!
Dammit! i just posted a long comment about how i thought last night's episode was lame and how i did not shed a tear for any death. And it didnt post.
Here it is in a nutshell.
Sayid's death, if he really did die, was lame, especially if they dont explain what was up with all of that reincarnation pool business.
Jin and Sun's death didn't make me cry in the slightest. Maybe if something bad happens to Sun's baby in the flash sideways i may feel something, but for now it just felt like the writers were cleaning house. So does this make Jeon on "the list"?
Frank's death was bullshit.
_______________________
as for that Lars episode... Palmer is wrong, we recorded the episode AFTER Ryan left for Catalina. 3 Years after Ryan left for Catalina.
Maybe the reason Sun and Jin's deaths didn't make me cry is because they are both alive and well in the other universe. It's not like we won't see them again.
Intense ep. Fell dead asleep right afterward - it took my last ounce of energy at the end of a draining day.
I got a lump in the throat when the death music started, and then Hurley crying brought some moisture to the eyes. I guess I'm not super devastated by the deaths so far, not because I think they lack potency (as played out on-screen), but b/c I just feel like they're not showing us everyone alive in the alt-verse for no reason - I do not think this is all going to end with everyone dead. I have faith (NON-SPOILERY true faith - I haven't done a spoilercast in, like 3 weeks for gods sake - man - I have no idea what's going to happen). I also do not think the end is going to be completely warm and fuzzy - a 'happily ever after' scenario would be beyond dissappointing.
I will say - Sun and Jin should have been speaking Korean though - the English took away from the scenes potency for me.
So - what say all the "Smokey's a good guy" devotees? Still think he's a good guy. I don't think he's evil per se - or rather, I don't think he's always been evil. But I think his character is like Season 3 Jack in that he's hell bent on getting off the island, and will do whatever he has to do to make it happen. He's never believed the island is a special place and I think has always wanted to leave, and - regardless of why he's there in the first place (trapped or whatever) - his resentment for Jacob and the island has grown into a darkness inside of him which has drained him of any compassion or goodness that might have once been there. I'm guessing in the end he will look like a tragic but essentially malevolent character - if for no other reason than he cares about nothing but himself at this point.
Someone on Twitter (my apologies if it was one of you) posited in a post that Frank is not dead - while I find that hard to believe, it IS true that we didn't see a body, but since he died at the same time as three other major characters, it seems likely that his death just got added to the mix without any fanfare unfortunately.
I do hope the re-appearance of Alpert, Ben, and Miles is kick-ass. It has the potential to be.
So - we saw Smokey IN the water - just not ON the water.
I'm picturing the final last episodes as kind of like "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" where basically everyone gets taken out, and in the end the world blows up. the alt verse will continue, and we will all take solace from that (much like Zira and Cornelius returning in another time).
It makes you wonder about all that looking after and hand wringing regarding Ji Yeoun (sp?)and then her sudden orphaning. I knew the second Jin said "So she's happy and hanging out with your Mum, right?" that it was curtains. Their death was only made sad really by Jorge crying...and I'm glad that happened as I think the show has lacked that kind of thing for a while.
Aimee...shame on you for posting that picture...she looks like a wax figure, or a blow up doll or something. The most awkward "look at me, I'm hot" picture in history...and I'm not fussy!
So does Zombiefication wear off, as Sayid seemed fine by the end of it all...he was all blinking oddly and shuffling about few episodes ago!
Sayids death was super quick, and I liked that. Frank is dead too...and suffered as lame a death as any of his S6 lines.
I'm really pleased that the "Hard Man" on Whidmores team finally died. I'm not trying to be horrible, but that Dude I swear was probably the producers brother in law or such who nagged for 5 years that he would love a part on the show. The most miscast individual I have seen on any show in years. It was like "That dude from the HR department" is playing Whidmores tough guy.
I thought it a good episode in that a lot happened and the season is nearly over (and I'm ready for it to be over) so it worked for me.
Oh yeah...Cindy etc either died or ran away...end of story for the randos....
Yeah, during the Jin/Sun death scene, I was expecting her maternal instinct to kick in and for her to tell Jin he has to take care of their daughter. Because I think he would have left her after she said that. But nope...I guess neither one of them was thinking about their daughter. Selfish fucks.
Ooh, what if Claire never makes it back to Aaron and then he and Ji Yeon meet up in the future and go off in search of the island looking for their parents? And they're led by Walt. That'd be neat.
Yes! I thought that too! Any real parent would tell their spouse to get out and take of their kid. That's almost a given. Evidently, the writers for this episode don't have kids or hate kids.
First of all. Steph has replaced Kim as the blogspot ice queen. Just wanted to point that out. ;)
So yeah, fun ep. I'm enjoying myself because it's action packed and I like all the characters. But at the same time, I'm not sure how great I think any of it is. A lot of stuff comes off as a bit clunky storytelling. But whatever. It's still fun.
No tears for Sun and Jin. Although I did get a tiny tinge of a chill. It was a 'nice' and touchinh scene for them. Although I'm right there with whoever said that the alt-flashes take away big time from any deaths at this point. Especially seeing Jin in the hospital immediately after that scene. The alt-flashes take away a lot in terms of resonance of deaths on the island. Not because it invalidates them or makes them not matter. They most certainly do still matter. It just doesn't feel as final as it should. It's very similar to when superheroes die in comic books. The impact isn't felt the same because you know it's not the last time you'll ever see them. They may have died in that story. But they are not gone forever. The alt-flash also negatively impacted sun and jin's reunion for me as well. Having experienced the whole ep watching them in the flash, seeing them get back together for the first time in 3 years, didn't exactly hold the same weight as it should have. And couple this all with the fact that so much is coming to a head in the season/series and so many people are dying left and right, it really de-emphasizes any death or big moment. These things aren't allowed the proper time to breathe and resonate.
I'm not buying that Sayid or Frank are dead. 99% of the time with movies and tv shows, if you don't see the death on screen, the character isn't dead. Although I don't think so, I'd be more willing to guess that Frank is dead as a instant, off-screen death would be more believable for a character of his stature. That said, I'd be quite annoyed as to me, I didn't even get the feeling he was even possibly dead until reading people on here. If he is indeed dead, that's bad writing IMO. Sayid, I'd be more fine with it, as it came off as at least a possibility. And really, he already died once. No big need to really get that big on the 2nd death of a zombified soulless killer.
With Jimmy on not being a fan of that picture of Sun. VERY creepy looking. And I am not hard to please either.
I'm still enjoying LOST and having fun with it. Like I said, I have a deep investment with these characters, and the show is still fun at the end of the day. But I am ready for it to end.
Oh. And HA! @ Sawyer calling that pouty looking guy 'dough boy'. That dude has a face that just screams 'bitchy little bitchy bitch'. And he has that look on his face in everything I've ever seen him in.
I thought the same thing about Sun and Jin totally forgetting that they had a child in that scene. No real parent chooses to die or allows the other to in that scenario.
Jordan, i am not trying to start up a Jin is STILL alive again conversations, but his hand leaving Sun's leads me to suspect he left her to go to the surface, even though we didn't swim away. It was dumb on his part, unless they know that they can still communicate through Hurley.
though I understand your logic, I am betting 99.99% Jin is dead! If he is in fact alive it will actually suck! What can he add to the show now? Plus he would have had more comebacks than Lazarus...
Yes, Steph/Steph, I am telling you that DDK has gone on the record saying that Jin is dead.
In fact...
Daniel Dae Kim told E!: "I thought it was done in a way that was really poetic. The thing I loved most about it for Jin is that he actually chose to die, for the love of his life, and that to me shows how far he's come as a character from the pilot."

Aimee discovered she CAN cry while watching Lost with other people in the room. She no longer has any control whatsoever over her emotions now.
WTF JUST HAPPENED????!?!?!
She looks like vampire Sun.
...shouldn't it be zombie Sun now?
Claire's jilted, Smokie's pissed and I think Widmore just shit his pants.
I totally thought Bernard was gonna deck Jack after the "flirting with my wife" line.

Aimee, I will admit--a tear came to my eye in this episode. 9:30 to 10:00pm I was on the edge of my seat
I cried too! But seriously, WTF?
The Jin and Sun scene would have been so much more awesome if they were speaking in Korean the entire time. I really cursed the writers there.
I did well up when Jorge lost it, though. That was pretty powerful (and unexpected).
I wanted to cry so badly. Not even Sweet Hurley could move me to tears. I did however nearly have a panic attack while they were in the sub. Probably more to do with my claustrophobia than the writing. Excellent episode none the less.
Next week, we get answers?
Are Widmore and FLocke working together???? Flocke checked the guy he just killed for a watch (bomb timer), and knew about the C4.
Hurley crying was sadder than Jin and Sun dying.
P.S. Sun is way hot in that pic.
Well, we asked for "something" to happen on LOST.
Finally.
Are the Fab Four only ones left? + Desmond
Did Frank die too?
I say yes...
- i think my TV squirted me in the eye
- what the fuck did Sayid say before running off with the bomb? "jack, aldkgjasldkgja Desmond aldkgjasldkjasdg. you can do it. okthxbai!"
- Claire's pregnant-suit acting was hilarious. She was bopping around like she was in aerobics class.
- Jack is a serious asshole in universe-X. "Hey buddy. your dad is dead. time to move on."
oh. and, holder, from the last thread... they recorded that 'Lars episode before Ryan moved to Catalina Island a few years ago. it's either an elaborately researched ruse, or an old episode that they reposted.

also, WTF?!!? everybody done died and stuff.

Holli
So the Hollywood Reporter is saying the finale is now 2 1/2 hours and Jimmy Kimmel just a 1/2 hour. Shee-it.
Holli
oh. and IslandJack wasn't that much of a douche this episode. in fact, he was pretty cool. go IslandJack, go!
and offIslandJack was a total douche. "you're dad is dead. snap his neck at your next family christmas." jeez.
strangely, didnt Jack's dad insist that Claire's mum was dead? and then she miraculously got better for no reason back in Australiatown?
I always get wary when they add an extra 1/2 hour like that.
It almost makes me feel like it's gonna be 20 extra mins. of ads and 10 extra mins. of show (considering the going rate of nearly $1 per 30 sec.)
I'm not complaining, though. Any extra LOST is good LOST.
Sayid and Frank deserved better...
THERE IS NO SAYID!!!!
So, this is my big question (and will either affirm or disprove that Sawyer is a douche)...
...would the bomb have exploded if Sawyer didn't pull the wires? Was Jack right and Sawyer pulling the wires meant that he was now going to kill them and not Smokey?
Silly Sawyer.
Where the F- are Ben, Alpert & Miles?
Sayid's gesture was heroic, but they didn't build it up enough, a la Charlie.
Why did Sayid wait until he was about to die before telling Jack about Desmond?
Apparently Smokie CAN swim.

Oh, and Lost was good.
Can I really buy 30 seconds of ad time for $1 ?
I do think they would have been fine if Sawyer had not pulled the wires.
I feel really bad for Claire. She gets left behind, gets to see Kate get shot and know she didn't pull the trigger.

- Frank's tombstone: "Ah Crap"
Who else thought for a split second that MiB was going to kill Claire at the end of the episode?
Yeah, I andrew. I thought that's what you were doing but I wasn't sure. I didn't know what Mtn Dew shit they were talking about so I just figured I didn't hear about it back in '07. And oh yeah, I thought Claire was a goner.
Whoops, that was me. I forgot to log off the ScottandSteve user name
Sayid's death is kinda like Michael's--you didn't even have time to process what actually happened.
Man, good episode
doh. forgot to DVR the Dharmalars' own Ralph- in the audience of Jimmy Kimmel tonight. guess i'll watch it online sometime soon and scour the audience for mr. apel. oh. and jorge garcia's a guest. that ought to be cool too.
I don't know what a hilly is...but there's a baby under there.
I've got to be honest.
Franklin J. Lapidus is my favorite character of all time that contributed absolutely nothing to the plot.
4 years later, Jack got his army... and they didn't do well at all.
Sayid said "Jack, you're the one" or "You are it" or something to that effect.
I didn't think it was possible to pity Jeff Fahey more. At least he got an extended Hawaii vacation.
So if the candidates can't be killed, how did both Kwons die?
I work with neuro patients some. I have yet to hear the words "dural sac".
I think they keep mentioning the "dural sac" because that's the only time that Jack's messed up in surgery, with the story he told Kate in the Pilot? I don't know.
I loved this episode. I was "FUCK FUCK FUCK"ing at the screen when Sayid arzted himself.

/also cried at Sun and Jin.
Stephanie, the candidates can be killed, just not by Smokey. Like the loophole, he has to get someone else to do it.
How did Widmore get the list of candidates? Where's his info coming from?
Holli
Holli, so Sawyer technically killed Sun, Jin, and Sayid? If he had listened to Jack there would have been no explosion? That's weird.
Weird that that's how it works, or weird Jack was right about ka-blammo?
Holli
Yeah Steph, Sayid said "because it's going to be you." I wonder if he KNOWS or if he just thinks.
what's next for our heroes? i guess they've got to go get a wet desmond? while carrying around an injured kate and a knocked out sawyer?
leave those rubes on the beach. Jack and Hurley gotta go save the world!
LaFleur > Sawyer.
Weird that it works that way. But I can't complain. There's been weirder. Like Jack came back because of Kate but he really didn't. Still doesn't make sense to me.
LaFleur < Sawyer
I love LOST. Ya I said it! RIP Syaid,Sun,Jin,Frank. DEATH To Smokie!!! I don't think the bomb would have went off if Sawyer wouldn't have touched. That being said I think Jack lit the Dynamite with Alpert. Kinda the same as Sawyer messing with bomb? They are both Canidates?

Informative video from Kyle's neighbor.
Jordan, i am not trying to start up a Jin is STILL alive again conversations, but his hand leaving Sun's leads me to suspect he left her to go to the surface, even though we didn't swim away. It was dumb on his part, unless they know that they can still communicate through Hurley.
Ralph,
though I understand your logic, I am betting 99.99% Jin is dead! If he is in fact alive it will actually suck! What can he add to the show now? Plus he would have had more comebacks than Lazarus...
i've read at least three interviews today in which Daniel Dae Kim says that he thinks Jin's death was perfect or referencing his death in someway...
Every time I turn my computer on, I get to imagine E. Lilly inviting me in the backdoor. Thank you, TLI.
Nice Holder. Just as long as it isn't that creepy ass sea monster pic of Yunjin Kim. YIKES!
You're telling us, Jeph/Ryan, that DDK has gone on the record saying Jin is dead?
KABLAMo===8
haha ha. the shredded cheese guy is my 1st cousin.
Chances that Jin is still alive - 0%.
Sun looks like the girl from the grudge in that pic
Yes, Steph/Steph, I am telling you that DDK has gone on the record saying that Jin is dead.
In fact...
Daniel Dae Kim told E!: "I thought it was done in a way that was really poetic. The thing I loved most about it for Jin is that he actually chose to die, for the love of his life, and that to me shows how far he's come as a character from the pilot."
"Kyle from Kentucky said...
haha ha. the shredded cheese guy is my 1st cousin."
i want to believe.
