I predict that Locke is almost killed by an elaborate game of MouseTrap while inspecting a home at a hippy commune. He is saved by a cardboard box, thus prompting him to go into the business.
Any guesses as to Locke's "Job-of-the-Week" this flashback?
I'm thinking he will be fired from WalMart, gets hit by ANOTHER car this time driven by Randy Nations, and is paralized from the waist down--therefore prompting Mr. Nations to give him the job at the box company.
I'd like to say that Anthony Cooper is the reason he ends up paralyzed, but considering Locke's behavior on the island recently, I'd say that Locke is the ultimate cause of his own suffering.
Whatever happened to him, he did it to himself, whether on purpose or not. Maybe his dad was indirectly involved somehow, but I have a feeling that Locke causes his own mess as usual.
Locke will lose the use of his legs when he is crushed by his own 80s era computer.
Anyhow, I think Aimee's right. Locke has two character flaws that are brought up all the time, A) he's gullible as all get out and B) he's stubborn like an MFer.
So, it'll either be him stupidly believing Cooper or stubbornly defying Cooper that gets him his squiggly squiggly legs.
P.S. Kim, don't you love the name "Randy Nations?" It seems like an adjective followed by a plural noun. Like a United Nations for Swingers or something.
Aimee, are you serious? If so, best of luck to you, your dad, and your family.
I know you're a Sawyer girl, but as LOST has demonstrated, if Dr. Jack is going to operate then you get to keep him and teach him to play football with your friends!
Yeah, TOQ seems like a pretty decent guy, so I'm interested in finding out what he considers to be "not disappointing or lame".
No matter what though, SOMEONE is going to complain about it and still say it's lame. There will always be people who do nothing but look for shit to complain about.
It was funny, because I was thinking about the drunkcast, and how Craig had asked why I watched the show if I hated it so much. I must have been the alcohol, because I'm usually the first person to come to the episode's defense when people are ragging on it. I don't know why I was giving Par Avion such a hard time, because it actually was very good.
I think maybe I was arguing with Craig for the sake of arguing most likely.
Yes Palmer, it's true; in fact if I heard him correctly, I think he said he had two or three.
My father is in reality Superman, so he is invincible and cannot be destroyed by anything on this planet. But please don't tell anyone because then everyone will want to be his friend, and it'll just go to head.
By the way aimee. you dont have to make this spoiler free on my account. i have done pretty well avoiding spoiler material on the blog. Usually if someone writes, "well i saw this over at Lost Media" or "On Lostpedia they said that..."
I put that disclaimer on this thread so people who see the episode in earlier time zones don't actually discuss it in here; they wait until the post-episode thread is up.
I hope that we see what Locke has really been up to these last couple weeks, or at least understand his motivations.
The dude has a pathetic life. Everyone he has ever trusted has led him astray. and when he wanted to make things right in his life the girlfriend left him, kneeling in a parking lot.
Locke is fed up with this shit. he is going to blow the shit up out of everthing, and throw anyone in a fence that he has to in order to get to the last man that decieved him... Ben Linus.
Locke is a man on a mission. A mission that he can only do himself. Last week Sayid asked Locke why he was going to rescue jack? Locke did not answer him.
Locke is going to bash his way through this island until he get some answers. this episode should be pretty epic.
All my support and love (not like that!) to you and yours, buddy.
In the meantime, we can all relax tonight and watch as Locke is paralyzed by an angry collection agency employee when Locke refuses to pay for all those hours on the phone sex line with "Helen."
damn straight aimee. seriously, someone needs to fight back! why not the crazy old man with the knife and C4. Sayid has to at least understand that he is better off being on Locke's good graces.
I think that we might actually see Locke's Temper flare up on the island tonight, but this time there will be witnesses.
job of the week: lab technician. the show will try to trick us into thinking he's a full fledged scientist, doing crazy experiments on genetics or fertility or something. One or more of the scientists in the lab will be an other we've already met (Ethan, Goodwin, Tom (who Locke hasn't seen without his beard)) thus trying to trick us into thinking that Locke was down with the others/Mittelos/Dharma before the crash.
Squiggly Legs: He's obsessed with Helen so it has something to do with pursuing her. i still think she set him up (reading the obits and pointing out his dad's funeral is super suspicious). i'm going to go with a suicide attempt, maybe driving a car into a building.
i'm going to also predict that Juliette defects this week and escapes with Jack and Kate and Sayid, thus setting up the conflict of whether or not she's an infiltrator at the beach. Ben's creepy infatuation with her also becomes a looming plot point.
i was kind of hoping that the flashback would open up imediatly where we left off in "Futher Instructions", with Locke standing there with Justin Chatwin and a gun shot rings out imediatly! we hear the flashback sound, see locke standing there, and BLAM!!! right in the spine!
Hell yes they need to fight back, and it's about time too. I don't care if Jacob thinks they're flawed or angry! We need some genuine anger here because this is some fucked up shit they've had to deal with on that island for 60+ days now.
They didn't asked to be put there. All these psychotic hippies had to do was send them home (which they had the ability to do), and they could've gone on with their merry hippie ass lives, but nooooo, they gotta be all mind games and list picking and baby snatching and shit. Fuck that. I hope Locke kicks Ben right in the infected spinal wound.
andrew, i think that if juliette got away with jack and the gang all hell would break loose! which is a good thing. could you imagine what Ben Would do in that situation. or even what the survivors would do. Jack would convince all the gang that she is a good person, only to be stabbed in the back by her missleading ways.
Juliet doesn't care about anyone but herself & getting off the island to her sister. Her loyalty will lie with whoever can manage to provide that for her.
Don't forget that Juliet is married to Santa Claus. Those so called "Brazilian" guys at the Arctic station working for Penny are, in reality, elves. Expect Tim Allen to swoop in by the end of the Zombie Season, shove a candy cane sharpened to a point through Ben Linus' heart, throw our Lostaways into his sack of toys, and bring them to the freedom of Elfin Slave Labor at the North Pole.
My theory is that Locke is all Ricky Bobby and it is all in his head because of the guilt he carries over causing whatever accident he and his dad will be in tonight which will kill Dad and that Locke will have caused probably with a computer.
Ben will tell Locke everything has all been in his head and that if Locke clicks his heels together and says "there's no place like home" over and over he will find himself in Kansas (which no offense Kansas people) would be way worse than remaining on the island. Locke will call Ben a liar, but then fall down when his legs no longer work because Locke stopped believing.
Oh and I hope we get a Kate/Juliet catfight. I imagine it will look like Aimee and the skank dancing chick would have looked if Aimee hadn't scared her off.
Aimee, I'm sorry. I didn't read it as your dad has tumors. I thought he was commenting on the show. I didn't mean to be insensitive. TOQ described how his character has basically been trying to rediscover his season 1 Locke-roots ever since they opened the hatch. Everything changed him after they opened that thing, and now, all he wants to do (as an actor & a character) is go back to that pre-hatch mentality. Just like we all want him to!
Maybe, just maybe, tonight we'll get a little closer to seeing that happen.
Absolutely Aimee, I agree. I have this image of Ben, in bed, being his usual ambiguous self, and Locke, as an opening salvo, taking a knife, whipping it toward Ben, and having it stick straight into the headboard about two inches from his head, like in Seas. 1 when he whipped a knife into tha log and said "We hunt". The conversation can proceed from there. Looking forward to whatever happens.
Remember the power struggle we had been discussing several podcasts ago? Now that Ben isn't operating at full capacity, a power vacuum has been created, and someone is/may/will try to swoop in and stake their claim at control. Many assumed it would be Jack. Or Juliet. Or Isabel.

I don't think they planned on Jack wanting to stay. I'd like to see Jack stay with The Others for the time being. But I can bet you we'll get a scene with him grabbing Kate by the shoulders before she leaves "Kate, you have to trust me on this. Kate. Trust Me"
Ben frustrates me to no end. I don't think he was on a mission to find John (back when they were in the Swan hatch). He's the epitome of telling people what they need to hear.
I'd also like to see a throw down in a pit of Dharma Whip Cream--but Jack...ya, Foxxy Jack.
Jack definitely won't leave, because Ben still needs him. Classic case of doctor putting his patients ahead of the people he cares about grumbles the doctor's wife.
Why did Ben allow himself to be caught and turned in to Sayid? dont you think that Ben and The Gang would have been able to overcome Danielle if she really did catch him wandering in the woods?
Ben said that he was coming for Locke, that he was one of the good ones...but later on, he was not on Michael's list of 4 ( hurley, jack, kate, james). Locke is probably wondering the same thing. If Ben wanted me, as an other, why wouldnt he ask for me when Michael came back?
Locke has a lot going on in his head. he is more than a bumbling button pusher. he is a pissed of asshole and is done with anything anyone else has to say.
Obsidian, I would be sooo satisfied if that turned out to be true tonight! Please oh please don't let him die before we find that out.
Remember Jack's line to Isabel about turning them against each other (being the best way to create chaos)? I think it may be possible that was just what Ben was doing with Locke and Jack; playing one against the other. That seems like the simple solution anyhow.
I understand why Ben needed Jack, but what I don't understand is what Kate or Sawyer had to do with it.
Aimee, I'm afraid Kate and Sawyer may have indeed been Billy Pilgrim and Montana Wildhack for Ben's zoo exhibit. Actually I think it was Sayid's whole take two (or three) to get what you want from the one. Remember we didn't get to see Ben's whole plan unfold since he needed the surgery yesterday. I liked that Jack more than playing football with Tom Jack.
if it is only 3 randos, i will be fine with that. I mentioned earlier that i thought it would be cool if Locke killed Juliette. That would make for some interesting Drama between Locke, Jack, Ben and the Others.
I have a feeling that Tom might be the first of the Others to die. Only because he is the most likeable one of the lot.
I would really like to see something totally out of fucking control as well. Maybe Locke walks up to Ben and says, "You are of no use to us anymore". then Ben can be all like "Forgive me Jaco...." BLAM!!!!! Locke shoots him. then we will be wondering if Locke is Jacob or if Ben was just asking Jacob forgivness before his death. snap that would be nuts!
That's crazy! I think you may be right, that Tom will be the first "Other" to die.
I predict Locke will go off his rocker when Ben tells him he's CAN'T do something--prompting him to blow another building up in flames.
I hope his reason for being in a wheelchair isn't lame. I have a vision of... maybe after an accident Locke had a steel rod inserted (that's what she said) into his leg to help him walk again--it failed and was then wheelchair-bound. The island has some sort of electro-magnetic thingy going on, and that's why he's able to walk again.

That's a really good question Palmer!
Hmm...
Knife Salesman?

Maybe Locke will be working at a zoo at Polar Bear exhibit?! ;)
P.S. Kim, don't you love the name "Randy Nations?" It seems like an adjective followed by a plural noun. Like a United Nations for Swingers or something.
Thanks Palmer. I will never look at the name "Randy Nations" the same way again.
Maybe Locke will sell wigs?
My dad called & said he has tumors on his spine. Paging Dr. Jack!!
Craig, don't you know it's useless to argue with a drunk? They're always right, even if you fail to see their logic.
Maybe that's why TOQ changed his tune, Aimee. He didn't think the reveal would be so mind-blowing until he learned about Ben's tumors.
Aimee, are you serious? If so, best of luck to you, your dad, and your family.

OK... so, maybe I'm as gullible as Locke. But I've got more hair. And I suck at throwing knives and have never beaten up a polar bear. Yet...
Locke's New Job: Sonic Death Fence Installer
Episode looks to be pretty awesome. I hope Locke blows something up with that C4.
No Palmer, the Superman part was sarcastic, but the tumor stuff was actually true. You aren't that gullible. I'm just in denial.
I hope that we see what Locke has really been up to these last couple weeks, or at least understand his motivations.

Yes, Locke never said anything about rescuing Jack, did he? As the movie announcer guy says "It's payback time. And this time...it's personal."
I don't even mind that Locke is all batshit crazy right now.
Go Locke!
All my support and love (not like that!) to you and yours, buddy.

Then he will join the pre-island killer club. Sa-weet!
What if it's one of those things like in Talladega Nights where Will Ferrell wasn't really paralyzed at all but he thought he was?
Was Locke ever on the Others' list? Or was that always a bunch of crap?
That depends on whether or not you want to believe Ben.
I'm sure this day will go down as significant in Lost history but I have to bring up BSG before it buried in the Locke-talk. My big theory is that Leoben, my favorite Cylon, is Starbuck's father. That would make the white paint scene very disturbing.
WOW, what a blog-splosion! Just reading through.
Aimee, VERY sorry you 've had a rough morning. Only good thoughts to you. And by the way - to the hate mailers - jeeeezuz, get a fucking life morons - how sad that you actually take time and energy out of your day to write a hate mail. I think they had a bad day too or something.
Anyway - about Lost, I heard an interview with Michael Emerson at buddy TV:
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/lost/buddytv-talks-with-losts-micha-4986.aspx
The thing that caught my interest the most was how he believes that the Others believe they are fighting some kind of "good fight". I know this isn't a new idea but it seems pretty compelling to me that there might be something wicked on that island that the Others feel must be countered, and which justifies all the crap they do - that there's maybe even a certain amount of desperation in their motives, like they are at the point where they are willing to do some morally questionable shit in order to fight their fight. I haven't heard Cuseloff comment on this (or I don't remember it), but I'm kind of hoping that tonight, Locke will try and demand some answers from Ben, and Ben will spill a little more info about himself and the Others. Anymore predictions, gang?
p.s. RANDY NATIONS
Absolutely Aimee, I agree. But..what if it isn't?
Anyone check the official podcast this week?
Cuseloff confirmed that what Mikhail said was true. and a bunch of other stuff.
Long shot - Locke will be a hospital radio DJ and will play a Driveshaft record.
elias! you've sparked a NEW theory within my feverish brain.
locke gets paralyzed in a Driveshaft mosh pit.
Ooh, good call Palmer! He has all their albums.
I hope that the Lostaways find one of these on the island sometime soon.
Oh my gosh, that is the cutest thing ever! I want one!
I'd really like to see Kate and Juliet throw down. Kate would win. I'm am truly super pumped about this week's new episode, and I'm even more pumped that I don't have to fly this afternoon because it's raining in the T-dot-O. Blog-on!
If Kate and Juliet do throw down, can I request Jell-o wrestling over mud-wrestling?
/just kidding
//or am i?
So here's what we hope Locke's got tucked away in his backpack.
Yes Kim,
I think a Kate/Juliet smack-down would fucking awesome!
The question I'm betting with my wife about is whether Jack, Kate, Sayid, Locke or Rousseau will walk out of Othersville - any of them, all of them? And if they stay, will it be willingly or not, for whatever reason? Do they have an exit strategy if Jack refuses to leave?
Good question mb. Apparently the original plan for Kate and Sawyer was not to allow them to return to the beach. So now what? The sheriff gets to execute justice afterall?
Think whipped-cream Palmer - er...I mean Dharma whipped topping.
Excellent memphish! I want a can - I may actually bid on that ;)
Yes Memph - the sherriff can execute justice in the form of the Kate/Juliet smackdown. it all works!
I don't think they planned on Jack wanting to stay. I'd like to see Jack stay with The Others for the time being. But I can bet you we'll get a scene with him grabbing Kate by the shoulders before she leaves "Kate, you have to trust me on this. Kate. Trust Me"

Locke has a lot going on in his head. he is more than a bumbling button pusher. he is a pissed of asshole and is done with anything anyone else has to say.
He had better kill at least 3 people tonight! 3.
So pick 3 Ralph!

Obsidian, I would be sooo satisfied if that turned out to be true tonight! Please oh please don't let him die before we find that out.

Excellent point Memphish! Billy & Montana...wow. That's funny. And wickedly perverted.
Kim, i think that what happened to Locke's leg will be just as dissapointing as What Kate Did.
there has been too much build up, there is no way it will exceed our expectations. i just hope that i am proven wrong and shit myself!
I would be delighted to hear about Ralph shitting himself. Everyone pray to the four-toed Lost gods.
