Jimmy's back from vacation, and he's as wiped out as Nikki and Paulo were straight after the crash. Join him in a trip down memory lane, as we reflect on the themes that originally launched the show. Then kick back and daydream about Island love...it's all here in a relaxed mid week show :)

First!
I wish I had iTunes on my work computer so I could listen to it now!
Damn it!
well I guess I'm first to listen to it Aimee!
which would make me second?
I need to start bringing my MacBook with me to work.
That's right Casey.
Good stuff Jimmy, I also predicted that there would be a return to the Pilot Episode/Season 1 themes...and thanks for the shoutout
aimee, thats what I do, I am on my macbook right now, and I have a pc a foot away
also, just letting you guys know that I had an interview with the boston red sox on friday for an internship on the video production crew doing in game camerawork and editing highlight videos and stuff like that, I am so excited for this, I find out if I got the job by the end of the week, seeing as how the season starts next week
Whew. Jimmy's piece is just what I needed after the experience of Children of Men. Thanks for soothing my rattled nerves, Jim.
Good luck Casey. Keep us informed.
Good luck Casey!! Judging by your submission video, you have to be a shoe-in.
If you get the job, sneak in some LOST references. Linger on the scoreboard a little too long if it's 4 to 8 or 8 to 15 or something like that.
Let me rephrase that, "WHEN you get the job."
It's great hearing those tracks from the pilot again, makes me want to watch it again.
No worries about shout outs, Kim. Always a pleasure.
As you can see, my piece is back to it's usual length. Quite a relief :)
It needed time to recover from vacation.
thanks guys for your support, i'll keep everyone posted, maybe I could play the lost opening sound effect every time a player is called up that has one of the numbers as their number
Man I love Jimmy's segments - It's so great to be aware of that extra layer in a TV show that goes largely ignored I think. Personally I have been away from playing music for too long and these segments remind me of how important the music is. Thanks Jimmy!
Casey - forgive the pun but I hope you knock it out of the park. That's sounds very cool.
Steph - I really want to see Children of Men - was the 'nerve-rattling' good or bad? Did you like it?
re: my previous post - I did not mean to imply in any way that anyone here is ignorant of the music on Lost. Just a general comment that I feel people often don't pay attention to incidental music in TV, and some of it (like Giacchino's work) is really good.
Hey, people, we're two comments away from 108 in the Cocktease comments. Someone come by and KABLAMO it at 108.
Jimmy, looking forward to enjoying your piece tonight. And, indeed, that is what she said.
also, Jimmy and Ralph and anyone else, what other shows do you guys really enjoy the music in?
dont take this the wrong way jimmy. but your show helps me and my insomniac ass go to sleep at night. not sure if its the music or your soothing calming voice. mainly just the overall dream like state of the piece. love it. keep up the great work. namaste.
the music in trading spaces is outstanding!
Question. Who are the two dudes on the MYOKOM main page?
Paige Davis is the opposite of Henry Kissinger. She's like a chimpanzee on speed.
Aimee! Come help out the new listener! :D
The gentleman on the left is the Podfather of digital attitude, aka Craig, the original MYOKOM w/SAS host.
The handsome devil on the right is Ryan A. Howard (not to be confused with Ryan B. Howard from NBC's The Office), the replacement host after the original co-host Dylan, aka "Japanese Pete" joined the Navy in 2006.
The photos remain on the home page as an homage to our legendary fathers of digital attitude, much like portraits over the mantle of a frathouse fireplace.
RE: music from other series:
I have taken notice of the music in "Without a Trace", I'm not sure it's particularly original or unique, but it always seems really well used, and there is some beautiful stuff. But I've never done any Jimmy-like analysis on it.
mb, I wanted SO bad to see this movie especially since BSG has gotten me worried about the human race dying out. I was at Blockbuster when it opened this morning. I can't find the words to explain. It's a very roller-coaster-like experience. These Mexican directors have got it going on.
Jimmy, you would love this one.
That's exciting to hear Steph. I saw Alfonso Cuaron a while back on Charlie Rose with Guillermo Del Toro and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and all 3 seemed really like what they did as well as be really supportive of each other. They seem like really interesting directors.
thanks aimee and jimmy...Thaimmy!
just got out of jury duty...FUCK i want to beat someone up so bad right now. really bad mood.
Long story short...i have to be back tomorrow at 8:30am to screen for a 20 day trial! i wish they would have screened me today so i could tell them that i have 3 relatives that are police officers and allow me to go about my bussiness...but no, i have to do that tomorrow. dammit!!!! i heard that there was a tornado in Anaheim while i was at the court. sky is blue right now. i am off to go catch up on all my work, and listen to the soothing sounds of that Seattle Accent!
Just finished listening to Jimmy's supplemental bits. Great job again of course and thanks for reminding everyone I'm sober again. That music track in the end made me feel like I was on a cruise ship...awesome.
I predict Paulo's theme tomorrow will make people, you know, feel like...
nice one Jimmy. love the smooth sounds...
(paul rodgers/Bad Company sings):
...."FEEL LIKE MAKIN' MUD!!!"
(guitar:) d-da DA, d-da DA
"FEEL LIKE MAKIN' MUD WITH YOU!"
Sorry guys - Aimee made me go there...
Yeah, maybe butt mud.
Sorry, MB made me go there.
Jimmy, good stuff. But what's the name of the artist singing at the end?
MB, thanks for KABLAMOing the other thread.
Kim, Aimee, Steph! Quickly, while he's still adorable: Knut!
butt mud - even better
Ralph, Good luck getting out of jury duty. It was my experience back when I was in the California judicial system that it was very very hard to get out of just because you were in the legal system or related to someone. I sat on a jury while in law school and one of my co-workers sat on a jury with 2 lawyers and a legal secretary. The excuses are few and far between these days. Acting perverse is probably the better option, like asking "Can I shove the guy through a sonic fence if we convict?"
Great podcast Jimmy. Glad your the length of your piece has been restored. Does it have anything to do with a Swedish penis enlarger? In all seriousness, I think I'm going to watch the Pilot for about the 10th time tonight.
Holli
Good idea Memphish! I'll take Lost 1x01 over American Idol!
I'm listening to the UK Lost Initiative for the first time right now, and it's SO hard to listen to these guys! They talk at a supersonic rate, do you like, have to be British to understand them?
YouREALLYhavetopayattentionoryoumiss everything theysaycompletely. Alltheirwordsaresquinched togetherlikeClaire'sface.
Jimmy & Tim don't speak like this!
one juror I was with asked to be excused because he was marrying his mail-order Thai bride. great excuse.
About the UK Lost Initiative:
Iain Lee and the geek are fucking grating. But the guy who edits the Lost magazine is passable. All in all a shit sandwich of a podcast.
That's so funny, Aimee. I can't remember why, but I was thinking today that the British are very wordy people.
I didn't mean for my previous remark to be as disparaging as it sounded. I admire British politicians for actually answering questions and for the media for asking actual questions. Very different than here where politicians try to please everyone by skirting around the questions.
I think I'll just stick with my regular podcast regimen.
I always wanted to do jury duty. I'll switch with you Ralph :)
I'm pretty sure that British politicians suck too. They just do it while standing around being snide to each other. It's a universal constant that politicians suck.
I watched the first episode of LOST while the girlfriend watched the Sanjaya show on FOX. Everybody are such babies in it. Not as in wussies but they're all just so young looking. And Kate looked good. That was a bonus. And there was Maggie Grace. *drool*
The music, to me at least, seemed a lot more ethereal and dreamlike. I tried to recognize any themes or anything like that but I'm completely talentless in that regard. Thank goodness for Jimmy's podcast so I can pick up on stuff like that!
Aimee, did you give up on the "Other" TLI? Did it blow goats? With none of the Aimee attitude and no trace of radio voice Kim, I can't imagine that it's anywhere near as good as the TLI we know and love.
i know everybody hates american idol, and with good reason. but did anybody see sanjaya tonight? wow. crazy thing is he just might win the whole damn thing. oh yeah, and even though she cant sing, that haley chick is hawt.
Doc Jensen noticed the Paolo bathroom problems too:
Yes, kids — a whole episode devoted to Paulo Poops-A-Lot and Little Miss Who-The-Hell-Are-You?! .
Will we find out it's Irritable Bowel Syndrome or just that he's eating too much fruit like Hurley only he didn't ask Jack about it? At least there will probably be lots of boobs for the guys.
Holli
Paolo craps out the Smoke Munster. It's a fact.
Naveen Andrews implies he's not involved in episodes of LOST often enough, the time slot and scheduling are dumb, and that he's not crazy about the writing anymore. Ah, that's the kind of interview you want your actors giving! :p
Speaking of Paolo, did anyone notice that when we saw him coming back from taking his beach dump in Enter 77 that the toilet paper was NOT USED?! It was still in the Dharma wrapper. The dude does not wipe!
~Denass (I forgot my uid/pwd for the blogspot)
Palmer - I just went and read the Naveen interview you linked us to. I've got to say that I agree with you 9 times out of 10, but do you think that you might be reading a bit more into what was said than is actually there?
I just didn't get the impression that he was implying Paolo and Nikki might as well be scheduling the show.
And which of the characters wouldn't want more screen time ... except maybe E. Lilly who's already too famous for her own comfort. ;-)
And for a non-LOST related comment: Aimee, are the tornado warnings like, an everyday thing in Little Rock? I got here and thought the weather was going to be nice then I got caught in a Monsoon of LOSTian proportions running to my car yesterday. And then it stopped raining almost as quickly as it started. weird.
~D.Ass
Ok, this may not carry gravity for you guys if you don't know that my 8 year-old is the brightest, most observant kid ever. I don't mean to toot my own horn but the kid is brilliant. We were discussing Expose and out of the blue she said, "Who's Paulo?" I know you don't believe me but this is hilarious.
palmer, all politicians are scum. Thomas Jefferson said that holding office should be like jury duty. A duty, not a career.
Do British politicians travel by Lear Jet?
And if Sanjaya doesn't go home tonight, I swear I'll never watch again. I really mean it this time.
Jimmy...great as always. I miss the Locke theme from season one...I think it was called "Locked Out Again". It was played when John was on the hatch crying and the light came on. Why aren't they referencing that Locke theme.
Cadey D...is the internship with the RedSox, or is it actually with NESN. I know they are basically the same, but just wondering. Good Luck. If you get the job, you'll probably get to meet someone I used to work with...one of NESN's directors, who used to worked at ESPN. It's like a LOST flashback connection. haha
It's a small world afterall.
- SadAce
I think this is the tornado season or something, I haven't really lived here long enough to explain it though. When it rains though, it's always erratic; it just starts and stop like it does on Lost.
How Little Rock is like Craphole Island--that could be an entire thread of it's own probably.
Holli
DenAss,
yeah, good point. the article implies the scheduling is dumb. naveen just dusna like the timeslot, his lack of screen time, and the writing. but it's ok cuz i'm just having fun trying to start some trouble.
oh. and i believe in Enter 77, that Paolo was leaving the beach to take a huge crap. not coming back. although, it IS Paolo so he had probably just come back for a second magazine and another roll of toilet paper and was leaving again for round 2.
that guy is the poopiest!
I don't watch AI, but you have to see this hair.
Holli
Craig's morning radio show interviews the hair stylist from American Idol that does everyone's hair every week. I can't wait to hear what he says about the ponytail mohawk.
The Po-Hawk. Almost as good as Freddie Mitchell's Fro-Hawk.
On no! AI is invading my beloved Lost oasis. Please make it stop!
Think we'll see what Paolo and Nikki were up to pre-Island? Think we'll find out where they are from and what their professions were? Anyone got any predicitions?
Paolo: PortaPotty Salesman
Nikki: Convenience Store Clerk
Paolo - colostomy bag salesman (explains the golf too)
Nikki - manicurist
Holli
I think that Paolo wasn't even supposed to be on that plane.
He just needed a place to poo.
Anyways... I think that Paolo and Nikki were vacationing in Australia because Nikki thinks Kangaroos are cute.
It'd be more interesting if they hadn't known each other before the Island though. It would be the first Island hookup that didn't result in immediate death or occur in a bear cage.
Paulo- trust fund baby
Nikki- trailer-trash, money-grubbing whore
What happened to Madison?
http://starbulletin.com/2007/03/25/features/story01.html
Steph, I'm guessing Madison went all diva and refused to work after seeing what Jack Bender said about her:
We had to put the dog trainer on the raft because Vincent isn’t the most trained dog in the history of Lassie, to say the least.
Actually, reading the first part of your link it just sounds like we get an additional yellow lab. I love yellow labs, so I'm cool with that.
Holli
Steph, that dog is fantastic. "Guest Starring Pono as Young Vincent"
Because Aimee says we is the smartest viewers...
http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2007-03-27-lost-philosophers_N.htm
Maybe next season they'll hire Wrigley J. Fields to play Vincent. That dog has more skillz and personality than Madison and Pono put together.
Of course he'd probably just hump everything, so maybe it's better left to the professionals.
Any word from Craig on the PoHawk?
Haha, actually they just brought it up, and Fox is making that hair stylist guy only do interviews with like, Fox affiliated radio stations now or something. So no Po-Hawk talk! That sucks too, because he had a lot of insider juice on AI.
