Hey, Internetica! It's Dylan: the guy who started this blog. Also the guy who thought it disappeared into the ether ages ago. Thanks for keeping it up, Aimee(?). I just wanted to let everyone know that there's another Lost podcast to throw on the pile: The Lostiles with Dylan and Ralph starring Ralph (former Dharmalars) and me (former MYOKoMw/SaS). It's kind of like a supergroup if Garfunkle and Oates formed a supergroup. Check it out at thelostiles.blogspot.com.
Also, the old Dharmaline has evolved into its own sort of podcast. You can call it at 206-203-0952 and contribute your opinions, theories and other bullshit, and respond to everyone else on the line. The feed for your favorite podcasting software is http://feeds.feedburner.com/dharmalars
We have a great episode of The Lostiles coming up that discusses The Incident and Season 5 as a whole as well as a special episode featuring Craig of MYOKoMw/SaS and then we pretty much have to go on hiatus right along with Lost. We will be back next year, but please enjoy what's there for now. Jake it up!

what's with letting any n00b start their own thread??
j/k. It's good to see the podfathers around these parts. Looking forward to the reunion of Scott & Steve. not looking forward to any of these jive hiatuses.
Dang you LOST, look what I just found.
We've already seen Sun and Jin's wedding one time, in Season 1 "In Translation" and what the two of them are wearing is completely different from what they are wearing in "The Incident."
First from "Translation" here's Sun's Wedding Dress, then her reception dress, and notice Jin's morning suit.
Now in "The Incident" we have Sun's wedding dress, her receptiondress and Jin's suit
Greg Nations is falling down on his job. Maybe everyone is getting lax after 5 years.
No, I'm not buying that one. I think at least some of the flashes we saw are resets. I think Kate doesn't kill her dad, she's good like she told Jacob she would be. Sawyer doesn't finish the letter to Anthony Cooper. Sun and Jin don't drift apart. Jack didn't tell us first time around it was his dad who came up with count to 5 because 1st time around he didn't. I'm not sure about Locke, Sayid and Hurley's flash or Juliet's though.
Holli
Somebody just had a Mussolini moment.
Holli, I think I've given up hope for something as awesome as that would be.
So...I really think Alpert, as we see him in the season finale, is Jacob. I think they switched bodies or something at some point.
Or maybe it's Lapidus and he doesn't even know it.
...Who's Dylan?
jk lolz.
What Juliet's family should have looked like.Holli
Cynthia Watros was on the CSI finale working in a diner, too proud to come back to the island and finish her story. oh Libby Widmore Jacob Hanso, we hardly knew ye.
The guy who played Ethan Rom was in the Prison Break series finale. 'Twas bizarre.
I daresay we'll end up seeing him next season.
I think the producers are just saying she's too busy as an excuse for not finishing her story. Remember how at first they said her story wasn't important enough, then changed their story once the fans started complaining.
I think Cynthia Watros is supposed to be a regular on that Gossip Girl spin-off next year. On the last OLP they said no Libby basically because Cynthia Watros wouldn't commit the time to filming in Hawaii. After all she has a right to be a working actor I guess. We may get a little exposition though. Maybe.
Holli
Yeah, Cynthia Watros plays the mother in the Gossip Girl spinoff Valley Girls... but it's highly likely that it's not going to get picked up, so she might be free anyways.
Holy Crap I so want to live in that trailor/skyscraper!
Come on ladys there must be at least 6 Bathrooms and 12 bedrooms.
Well, fuck my hat, if it isn't Mr Speed himself! Glad to have you back brother.
Oh and, despite my lack of presence recently, um, Lost rules.
- re: the Kwon wedding - i don't want to accept that TPTB would rest on such a subtle clue as Sun's dresses, but i did notice in the shot of Jin's attendees that there was a central matriarch. It could be his grandmother i guess, but i got the sense it was supposed to be his mother and even Sun didn't know who his mother as at that point.
If these moments are supposed to be different then they were changed before Jacob visited them. It was Sawyer's Uncle that told him not to finish the letter. Jacob had given him a pen, encouraging him to finish it.
I'm also strongly confused by the fact that Jacob visited both Sayid & Hurley after they got back from the island.
and why wasn't Jack on Jacob's list (circa season 2)?
The shot of the crowd before Jin says his vows definitely stands out. And to me it screams different. I even tried to see if the man to the right of the older lady might be Jin's dad, but couldn't tell. Didn't look exactly like him, but maybe.
As for Jacob's list, that list was of people to integrate into the Others. I think it's always Jacob's plan to let two groups either battle it out or try to reach some other conclusion, but that there has to be two factions on Island pretty much all the time. Other than the people from the tail section that the Others took we don't know that anyone was on any list from Jacob, only that Pickett says Jack wasn't. Those not on the list would be group B at odds with indigenous group A.
I'm also not convinced that the Others really were receiving instructions from Jacob. I'd like to see that file from Ben's office.
Holli
I offer this counter analysis to memphish.
It was because of Jacob that all the people got to the island.
First he bails out Kate. What would the cops have done to little Katie? It would've been a slap on the wrist or at worst a criminal charge which would go away after she turned 18. By bailing Katie out, Jacob may have actually hurt her.
Jacob gives James "Sawyer" a pen to finish the letter. James would go on to unknowingly murder an "innocent" man, at least the wrong man, in his attempt to get back at Sawyer.
Locke's life post getting pushed out the window has mainly been hell. Why didn't Jacob heal him completely?
Assuming that it wasn't an alternate flash, Jack still hates his father after his encounter with Jacob. Jacob didn't really do anything. The scene didn't even suggest that Jack understood what Jacob was saying about "a little push."
Jacob stopped Sayid from crossing the street. If he had been crossing with Nadia, she wouldn't have stopped in the middle of the street and turned around in order to talk to Sayid.
Hurley was convinced to go back to the island by Jacob. Whatever happens now is on Jacob.
First off, having some stranger say something to you at your wedding would not be memorable in real life. I don't know how influenced Jin and Sun were by Jacob, but let's assume that they really took what he said to heart and took him seriously. This would lead to Sun doing whatever she could to stop Jin's mom from coming back and exposing he's the sun of a prostitute, not that there's anything wrong with that. This leads her to take the money and have Jin have to "work" for her dad which leads to Sun cheating on Jin and Sun then plotting to escape to LA.
You could make the argument that everyone was worse off for their encounter with Jacob.
I can't accept that they are going to reset the series. I would still watch, but it would be a cop out. There's no better phrase for what it would be to reset.
But even worse, where's the logic in the reset? If the "incident," assuming exploding the bomb isn't the incident, is prevented by the 815ers going back in time, then they would need to go back in time to stop the "incident." If they stop the incident, they can't go back in time to stop it.
This is a common paradox. You can't go back in time to kill Hitler, because by killing Hitler you eliminate the motivating factor for you going back in time.
However, if you live in a time where Wendy's has gone out of business and you travel back in time to get a Baconator. In the process you kill a man who would go on to purchase and eliminate Wendy's. This TOO is a paradox. If Baconators existed in your time in the future, you would never go back.
So how can the writers make it work? In Back to the Future II they introduced alternate realities. Different strings. Everything up to this point in the show suggests a single string approach to the way time works, but like I said in an earlier post, the writers can just make whatever they want up and change the rules.
Mistakes:
sun = son
However = In another case
Holder, I really like your theory that Richard and Jacob switched places.
However, the way Jacob spoke before he was "killed" sounded a lot like what Jacob would say. "What about you?" "You still have a choice." He even knew that Locke was not Locke and that Smokey/Esau/Guy at the Start of Ep 16 found a loophole to killing him.
I think that's totally valid Mir. While it may seem that Jacob is benevolent, it's still murky.
I think the show is ultimately going to be about the 2nd chance the people are going to get and the question is will they act the same way (Black shirt's thesis) or make a different choice (Jacob's thesis). Will they act as if they have no choice but to act as they did before like Desmond with Hawking in Flashes Before Your Eyes or will they say screw it and say dad gum it I don't want to be a surgeon, I want to be a plumber because people have to pay you cash right then and there. No insurance baby!
But basically the writers can almost go anywhere. I like that they are tying up ends and tying back into things they've done before (which creates its own potential paradox; they wrote in the counting to 5 and are calling it back or they put it in there to show it to us 5 years later.)
The thing I'm most happy with was that I just enjoyed watching the show as I watched it and wasn't shouting through the 4th wall at the writers for being idiots like I'd started doing while watching Heroes in Season 2. I'm probably going to try to rewatch the series leading up to Season 6, but I'm going to try not to over-theorize because in my 2nd or 3rd chance I'm trying to learn my lesson on that count, i.e. don't fall in love with your own theories because when they're wrong (and they always are) you enjoy the show less.
Holli
Phish, I agree with don't fall in love philosophy, but I also think writers shouldn't make everything you've seen insignificant.
One idea that's been thrown out there, is that Jules would remember everything and kind of exist outside of time. But why would Jules be the only one to exist outside of time? I guess maybe all the 1977 people would exist outside of time. What I mean is that like Back to the Future, they would remember the alternate time lines and just suddenly be back in 2007 with their memories. While stupid imo, it's certainly better than the series just picking up at the Sydney Airport and having to retell everything with the changes that were a result of the incident being prevented.
I'm not too worried. The only thing I am concerned about is how the show is going to reintroduce the 1977 people. Maybe Jack and co. minus Jules just live their lives from '77 on and that was the incident. Maybe we are wrong to assume that everyone will be reunited. Maybe Anti-Jacob will bring them back to 2007(?). Maybe they become the whispers. I don't know, but Miles being the voice of reason asking what if they are about to create the incident combined with the episode title being "The Incident" and Faraday always saying, prior to his return, that whatever happened happened comfort me that the series will pick up where it left off with the explosion possibly being a way to explain some sort of flash, etc. which could get the future peeps back to the future.
Mir, I think people think Juliet and possibly others near the Swan will be like Desmond after he turned the failsafe, so that in their pasts they'll have memories of their future, at least until they get hit in the head with a cricket bat. There's also the possibility of naked in the jungle Juliet. I can guess how Kyle would feel about that, but what about the rest of the blogspot?
Holli
After rewatching the finale, I did notice that the eye that opened (during the 2010 promo) seemed to look like Jules'.
I am going with they caused the incident and have nakedly been transported back to 2007.
Yes I am a fan of Jules, naked or not.
Note: If the Lakers were not destroying the Rockets I would not be posting on the blogspot right now. The game's been over since around the first 6 minutes.
Wow! I gotta hail to the chief (President Palmer reference).
I wish I would've read Palmer's post earlier. I agree with most if not all you said, as shown by my mega post.
"Why is Jacob so fantastically powerful that he can live hundreds of years, grant eternal life to his mascaraed friends, and appear all over creation helping kids get New Kids on the Block lunchboxes yet he just dies like a chump when Ben stabs him?"
I was laughing my ass off after I read that.
Whedon freaks rejoice.
I could honestly care less about Dollhouse. Still have yet to watch an ep. Just know there's tons of Whedonites out there. In better news, Better Off Ted and Scrubs are returning. I'm mostly enthused about BOT. Not sure what Scrubs is going to be like. Zach Braff is said to be returning for 6 episodes. Also, Steph can smile as Castle and Nathan Fillion is returning. Lots of shows renewed this year. Wonder if that speaks to the studios' economic situations and them not wanting to put too much money into developing new shows.
And Steph can further smile as her beloved Bones has been renewed for two seasons. Come on Steph, somebody is obviously trying to get you out of your grouch phase. ;)
And the big one for some people on the blog. Chuck renewed! But as the linked article mentions, with some conditions.
thanks, mir. i wrote the heck out of that thread... and then it died a horrible death. i figure there's enough questions in there to last a week or two.
i don't watch Dollhouse, and am not into the whole Whedon thing, but my college roomie's high school friend's college roomie's husband went to high school with Amy Acker.
what's that make us?
absolutely nothing!
catching up on MB's podcasts. only five left to go. funny to hear all the cover names in the casting notes. what was Baby Sawyer's casting name? Jeff or something?
After rewatching the finale, I did notice that the eye that opened (during the 2010 promo) seemed to look like Jules'.
lol no. it's not. It's so totally Jack's eye. There's been no filming whatsoever for season 6, and the eye is taken from the very first episode.
Speaking of people that people went to high school with. Get this! A girl from my graduating class was in the LOST finale! How crazy is that? I was not friends with her at all. And I didn't even recognize her when watching the ep. But the strangest series of events caused me to find out about it. During the TLI chat people were talking about the eye opening up in the promo for next season. I didn't remember that, so I went to my dvr and paused it to try and figure out whose eye that was. I just left it there for a bit, then out of the corner of my eye I noticed a name I recognized in the credits scrunched down below credited as "russian nurse". So I rewound to the scene with Ilana in the hospital and sure enough it was the same chick. Weird, eh?
In other news, I quite liked The Office finale. Steve Carell and Amy Ryan have such good chemistry. And the Parks & Recreation finale was prob the best ep of the 6 so far. Seems they have begun to find the tone that best fits the show as well as Amy Poelher, who was no longer a Michael Scott clone. Have yet to watch 30 Rock.
I watched the first 25 seconds of the opening scene about 50 times since thursday and gone back on forth on my dvr to the dvd and there is little doubt that it's Jack's eye. Juliet is a dead there is little doubt to me about that. Plus she signed up for that pilot this fall didn't she.
I would be really stunned if what Faraday says is completely correct. Old Eloise was really upset that she had to 'sacrifice' her son but They're Coming has to mean Jack Sawyer and alive and well Sayid, Jin, Hurley, etc... are coming. But I would be really stunned if they all go without any knowledge of all the things we have seen and just go to LAX.
There's no way that could happen. Maybe it is the very last thing in season 6 but surely they would all have the experiences they have gone through.
But hello the MAIN VILLIAN has just been introduced do you think they would just leave it at that? No the SHOWDOWN is upon us the BIG showdown not just the Ben vs Keamy showdown.
Maybe this is kind of obvious but Esau is the one who killed Locke. In follow the leader we find out where the thesis that the only way to bring your people back is for you to die John Originated in Esau's sentiments.
"And when he asks how to do that you tell him he's going to have to die." Richard was skeptical at this, Widmore was Shocked that Richard told John this, but just like always Locke believed wholeheartedly in something he shouldn't have. Well he usually believed in things he should have but sometimes he should've asked questions and this time it cost him his life.
Of course in the finale we find out that Locke wasn't Locke and that Locke's death was only good for Esau's loophole.
One thing about this whole thing that was odd to me was this -
1) When Mr. Eko went to look for Yemi's body one last time it was gone. Yemi is then posessed by the smoke monster/Esau/whatever evil that kills Eko but there is no body. Only posessed body.
2) Waaay back in White Rabbit Jack is looking for his dad. And Christian has been one of my favorite character but he has most likely been posessed by smoke monster/Esau/whatever evil that has most likely been given bad advice. But why wasn't the body in the casket??
3) Locke just like the other two, has his dead body possessed by the evil. But then his body turns up. WTF? Ok his body is taken over by the evil ok just like the other two fine makes sense. Then there's the body.....??
Sorry for the long ass post but I always take like a couple of days off after the finale and go into deep analysis. Sort of make my own sweat tent.
was I the only person who was annoyed with Jacob - hey Sayid...oh sorry I had to kill your wife so you could come back to get shot...
30 Rock finale was solid. Including the Kidney Now benefit song.
Awww. Sorry for everyone who loved The Sarah Connor Chronicals. Apparently it died last night.
My condolences.
...at least Chuck got recommissioned though? Surely that's a bit of a condolence?
Hurls. I would bet dollars to donuts that it is NOT Jack's eye.
I paused the HD feed and looked at the eye closely for about a minute.
The only other person's eye I kind of thought it looked like is Locke or Ben.
Glad about Scrubs, Better Off Ted, Chuck, and Parks and Recreation (24, Lost, Heroes, 30 Rock, the Big Bang Theory, the Simpsons and Family Guy were locks) I am pretty sure HIMYM will be back next season too (don't know if it's confirmed yet).
Sad to hear TSCC has officially been canceled. I am a fan, but I still haven't watched the last 5 episodes on my dvr. I still haven't watched the last 3 episodes of Heroes.
Maybe I am subconsciously conserving shows for the long hiatus.
Also, how the f could Sayid be alive? The dude got shot in the gut.
It makes no sense that Sayid was able to survive up until when he did.
If magic heals Sayid, why wouldn't it heal Jules? It is not unprecedented for a character to be on two shows at the same time(see Sarah Chalk).
I am still sticking with "Whatever Happened, Happened" and they flash back to the future some how. Having this not be the incident would create too many holes in the "logic" of the show.
Hurls. I would bet dollars to donuts that it is NOT Jack's eye.
It's the same shot as the one in the pilot. It's like it's been copied and pasted from the Pilot.
Also, you're glad about Scrubs being recommissioned? I am not sure how i feel about the flogging of dead donkeys.
Quick thing, the reason I mentioned the two shows thing.
Elizabeth Mitchell/Sarah Chalk
Lost is officially over after Season 6. The writers are in a unique situation where they could do almost anything they want next season.
Like Chalk knowing her show is done after next season (Scrubs was supposed to end this season), EM went and put herself in a pilot. As I understand it's as a guest star role. (Even Desmond was on 24 and then came back to Lost).
SC had a role on HIMYM and was back this season.
If someone has an article confirming Mitchell is done with Lost please post it.
F U Blogger for not having edit!
I'm glad because I really like the chick from Flight of the Conchords (the likes to bang dudes chick) also Sunny is kind of funny.
I am curious to see what they do with it. I think it could be cool. There wasn't that much story left to tell with the existing cast.
JD's gonna be back for 6 eps, but I'd think Janitor, Dr. Cox and Turk would be more important to the show since they are supposed to be working at Sacred Heart.
I read an interview where Chalk said she'd love to be back for another season, so I am assuming she will at least be back as the main character.
Having said all this, I may be in the minority with my stance re Scrubs being renewed. Keep in mind I was also a fan of the show Joey.
Come to think of it, the main reason I like Better Off Ted is because the chick from Joey is in it.
There's no confirmation that she's more than a guest star... but I don't ever remember a guest star just being in the pilot. In comparison, Cynthia Watros booked a pilot two months before season 2 of LOST had finished and we all know what happened there...
So i wouldn't be surprised that Juliet isn't going to be in any more LOST.
Also, Scrubs has been really bad for the past two/three years. It's just going to get worse.
I was wondering where you were, Jordan.
So, my two favorite actors will both be employed for another year.
Bones is the bomb.
Official T:SCC news to come about 4 or 5 eastern time today.
"Yay!" for Chuck fans though I may not be one of them.
More Scrubs? Enough, already.
I'm so excited...now I can listen to MB and Mac! I've got them cued and ready to go...something to listen to in the chopper.
Oh yeah...TLI is delayed prob to tomorrow because I killed a lot of brain cells this weekend drinking. A lot of drinking. A LOT.
Kim, it took 6 weeks last year for you to put out the finalé podcast... it's not as if you've got to rush it out or anything. take your time!
LOL...that's mean, H. It was 2 weeks, not 6!!
:P
No, you're right... i was wrong... It was actually 7 weeks.
The finalé was on the 29th May, you released the finalé podcast 22nd July 2008. By my meagre maths skills, that makes it around 7 weeks.
I think you're getting a bit confused because you released the podcast for the first part of the finalé 2 weeks after the second part, but four weeks after it originally aired. Then you released the second part of the podcast 5 weeks later.
I'm not complaining or anything! It helped shorten the hiatus a little bit.
this post makes me look like a massive douche-like thing.
kim:
are u girls gonna do ant podcasts in the hiatus? i cannot go without it for 9 MONTHS!! LOL i know u girls are busy but it would be awesome. anyways thanks for an awesome season of tli!!
"i cannot go without it for 9 MONTHS!!"
that's what she said.
...it's only 8 months... but that's by the by.
Can you last 8 months?
If you last 8 months you might need to contact your doctor.
Holli
I love how this blog can go from podcasts to blue balls in 4 posts...
It's a gift.
Holli
lol ha ha , smartasses.
saying lol and haha right next to each other sort of negates the need for one of them...
Also, you're on a blog about a podcast that's main source of humour is jizz and bacon... what do you really expect?
yes, we will be podcasting during the hiatus. We'll be working around Aimee's new schedule for the first 1-2 months. I was thinking about doing some stuff with guest co-hosts...we'll have to wait and see what pans out.
We could work out another trivia challenge for you Kim. How much money did Ray Mullins get for turning Kate in? The answer might by $23,000, but actually it's a trick question since after the bomb we don't know if Kate meets Ray Mullins. They'll all be trick questions.
Holli
herlihy LOL HA HA lol ha ha
Wack-ass theory of the day - 815 lands and the 815ers lives all "reset", but Desmond is the only one who can see/sense that things have changed (b/c of his flashes). Desmond ends up having to get everyone back to the island. Why? Not sure. To defeat Dark Locke/Esau-guy? B/c it's the universe course correcting?
These things flash into my brain and I have to get them out - I have barely thought this idea through.
Kim, Palmer - I'm flattered - thanks for going back to listen.
I could see that happening, but what would happen with the characters that have been killed off? Would they be brought back, or just ignored. Only thing that makes me think that won't happen is the Jacob story from the last episode would have been completely pointless.
Most likely they get flashed to 2007, including naked Juliette who will either die alone in the jungle from her injuries, or be discovered by someone else and die soon after. I don't mean to sound so bloody morbid, but I can't imagine Juliette surviving those injuries.
Mir, thanks for saying you like my "Jacob switched with someone" theory! I agree with your points, but there's something that keeps me believing it...
I'm sure the writers spent FOREVER writing and analyzing and rewriting every word from the opening scene between Jake and the black man, so I felt like analyzing every word. Jacob says when the Esau guy finds his loophole, "I'll be right here." This line really stuck out for 2 reasons. First, that just seems like a weird sentence for Jacob to say. Too cocky. Second, when Ben killed Jacob, there is a whole group of people who are literally next to the statue at the location where the opening scene took place. I don't know who it is exactly that Jacob switched with or will switch with, but what's up with this whole Lapidus being a candidate thing?
yeah - I think you're probably right Jamie. I was trying to think of ways they might use Desmond in S.6.
Holy crap. The new Wolverine video game for PS3 & 360 is BAD ASS! Mega violent. Dude is straight up gutting people. And in the demo theres a scene where he decapitates a guy using helicopter blades. Everything the movie wasn't. Wii version is toned down for the kiddies though. Check out the demo if you already haven't.
As for Lost. I dunno. Something about the whole "Jacob good, Black shirt guy bad" slant every and all Lost fans seem to have taken just seems too obvious to me. I'm thinking it might have been made that way on purpose to throw everyone off. More than anything, I find myself hoping it isn't as obvious as it seems. As it's been a good while since the show has surprised me with anything.
I think a 'candidate' is maybe someone who can taker over Jacobs role. I don't think Lapidus is, but maybe Aaron. I was thinking of the scene when Locke saw Christian and Claire in the cabin, didn't Christian saw Aaron was "where he was supposed to be" when Locke asked where he was. Maybe this was Black shirt guy making sure Aaron got off the island because he knew how important he was.
Something about the whole "Jacob good, Black shirt guy bad" slant every and all Lost fans seem to have taken just seems too obvious to me. I'm thinking it might have been made that way on purpose to throw everyone off.
I've been thinking this as well Jordan. Something tells me that you can't have the light w/out the dark - that in the end, the two balance each other out somehow. Sounds like it would lack drama - but I'm guessing when you throw our Losties into the mix, that philosophy is going to have all kinds of consequences in their lives.
jordan, i played the demo and it seemed kind of cool. especially the violence. i wonder if the full game is worth the $60 or not.
a "candidate" may just mean a candidate for helping them fight Mirror Universe Locke.
i wonder if that Jacob guy is really dead or not. maybe HE found a loophole too?
I's said LOOP HOLE a fire Extinguisher?
Jordan and MB, I'd like it if it wouldn't be as obvious as white=good, black=bad, but S5 of LOST was the season of obvious, so I'm not going to hold out hope. I think the bigger thing is that it's not really good vs. back, black and white, but more free will vs. fatalism/destiny/whatever happened, happened and whether or not we view the outcome is good or bad is irrelevant. The path is more important than the destination.
I wish Ben with his knife there in the foot would go ahead and take out Fake-Locke too. Now that would change things.
Holli
so... are Sun and Ben and Fake-Locke (Flocke?) in their 2007? or alterna-2007 from the Losties ultimate Time-Fuckery?
hopefully, the bomb was just the incident though. i usually dislike alternate timelines and stuff.
Apparently ABC just announced LOST will air next year on Thursdays at 8 pm ET/PT which means 7 pm for me. That sucks! Thursday is turning into the new Monday since Fringe has moved there too.
Holli
Guess that means less violence in Season 6...
Well, at least they won't be up against American Idol.
So...on the topic of where the 1977ers will go after the explosion, I'm with the people who think they flashed to 2007 or present day or whatever it is. I also don't think anything has "changed." It's simple and works well to get everyone back together and on the island, just the way we like it. There's no alternate timeline where the Losties land in L.A. and none of this ever happened. That would be lame as balls.
Oh no! Lost will be on at the same time as my new second favorite show.
THURSDAY?!?!?! dammit. And Fringe too?!?
THAT'S NOT GOOD FOR ME ABC!!!!
I don't think my DVR can do it - between Lost, NBC shows, and Fringe.
That means I might as well wait to watch it Sunday, 9PM, on Sky One.
I did run into Hugh Laurie today on Great Titchfield Street and he managed a moody "Hello". The bloke is much taller and more beardy than me.
Heard a cool observation on The Transmission...
Jacob gives Sawyer a pen, Kate some money, and Jack some candy. Then Hurley (when he gets out of jail) gets back a pen, money, and candy. Pretty cool.
I do have 2 DVRs, but even at that we're going to be pushing things given that I want to record 3 different networks and don't trust any of them not to pull that 9:02 end time shit.
LOST at 7 is a no-go for me in terms of live viewing. Suck it advertisers. Bedtime is 8-8:30 and I just can't make the kid go to bed an hour early so that I can watch LOST with commercials. If NBC's lineup stays the same, I might just watch The Office and 30 Rock Live, catch up on LOST after that and Fringe will get put off 'til the weekend, or Tuesday when there seems to be nothing on I want to watch.
Holli
So after all my bitching about 7 pm Thursdays looks like the info was wrong. I'm sure they haven't really decided when they're going to air it because they'll have to see which shows in the fall fail miserably.
Holli
So we're not sure it's Thursday at all?
Per Kristin at E! there's no date or time selected. For V either.
Holli
...Thomas, from Forgive Durden has had a new tattoo
I really really like it.
- Thursday would be bad. I'd have LOST, Fringe, Supernatural & NBC comedies. maybe some of these shows will switch over to On-Demand by then.
- since there aren't many movies on my radar, i'm starting to get antsy about Summer TV
* Mad Men starts in August
* The Prisoner mini-series has no official date but is supposed to air sometime in 2009
* True Blood starts in June
- I guess i could check out Bones in the meantime.
- i'm going to have an awesome double-feature tomorrow night: Master Of The Flying Guillotine & Doubt. i'm going to try to cross-pollinate them in my dreams.
- i think my least favorite character for Season 5 was Sun. Aside from whacking Ben upside the head, she didn't accomplish shit.
Sun served as the minority most likely to obsess over a family member supplanting Michael in that category. I think Jin only had about 15 words the whole season. Probably would have been easier to keep up with than Hurley's dude count.
I'm looking forward to Burn Notice's return June 4th. Hubby and I enjoy it despite it's many plot holes and implausibilites. I'll probably also watch Leverage whenever it comes back on. It's ok.
The other thing I'm looking forward to is Top Chef Masters where real chefs, people whose restaurants I have eaten in, will compete. That starts June 10th.
Now that Castle and Dollhouse have been renewed I'd kind of like to watch them and see if they're for me, but neither Fox nor ABC has all the episodes available to watch. Brilliant!

Sun has grown increasingly annoying over the past couple seasons. Then again, I've never much cared for the character.
And from Alan Sepinwall. This comment was from the president of ABC at their upfront presentation. When he was asked about Elizabeth Mitchell.
"Asked if "Lost" fans should read anything into Juliet's fate now that Elizabeth Mitchell has been cast on "V," MacPherson said, "No, other than it's a fantastic actress. We were thrilled to have her to do both... I think you'll see her (again) on 'Lost,' but 'V' is her next gig."
Not sure if that means anything, or if he would even know anything. And if she did reappear on the show, would it be anything more than a guest appearance?
Sun
Season 1 I felt bad for her. When I found about about her cheating on Jin I hated her. I don't love her character now but I do think Jin is a fantastic character one of my favorites. And I am more interested in their reunion than I am the plane landing in LA
I read that Elizabeth Mitchell may be contracted to do a specific amount of episodes on LOST but not appear on a really regular basis, possibly on a small arc or something, from Ausiello. He seems to be generally right.
Blogspot trivia time. Who is the voice of the doctor in this clip, which is the intro track on the new Eminem album? I will give a hint. It's an actor from a tv show that I consider to be pretty good. Any guesses? And no cheating!
McNutty!
Circle gets the square!
It's that guy from the wire isn't it?
not watched the show, nor heard the song in question. but i read that story in a few places last week.
- At first i thought it might be Stringer Bell but the accent wasn't posh enough.
- what if, next season, Esau keeps picking off major characters but replaces them with his evil dopplegangers without anyone noticing.
(this thought came about because i was trying to figure out a way for Juliet & Libby to mud wrestle.)
Herls, all of the characters are contracted to do a specific number of Lost episodes. (Herlihy type comment out of the way)
Holder, I too think it would be fake to make an alternate future (I've given my reasons, I'm not gonna get into it again). It's much more interesting to just pick up with the show now that Jacob is dead.
The "I'll be right here" was very similar to the "What about you" comment. They had a sense of arrogance to them. They are also kind of why I think Jacob may not be "the good guy." It's a combo of the comments and the results of what he did (allow Sawyer to finish the letter, stop Kate from getting in trouble, most likely causing Nadia to die).
Also, when Ben was about to kill Jacob, he didn't seem scared or try to stop him. I think if it wasn't Jacob that the person would have at least paniced if not sold Jacob out by saying he is not Jacob.
Last thing, Ilyiana knew Jacob. During the scene in the hospital(?) when the nurse tells Ily that she has a guest, Jacob says something like, sorry I couldn't make it sooner. The first time I saw the scene I didn't make much of it. I thought, ok he went to visit Ily just like he visited the others. It wasn't until the second time I noticed that they knew each other from before. He asks for her help, but for what? Was that the start of the "Shadow People?" What is the Shadow People's purpose? What the hell was up with that scene? What's their relationship? How do they know each other? Ilyana doesn't seem that old and she didn't seem to know Richard suggesting they cannot both be from the Black Rock. Where there people before the Black Rock? Was Ilyana given eternal sameness too ala Richard?
These are the questions that haunt me.
i do not like them on a train
i do not like them on a plane
i think my least favorite character for Season 5 was Sun. Aside from whacking Ben upside the head, she didn't accomplish shit.
You liked her less that Radzinski?!?!? ;)
(I assume you're talking about major characters)
Seriously though - Sun and Jin were given very little to do this season besides follow other people. Granted she pulled a gun out and pointed it at Ben, and Jin helped rip Montands arm off, but I do wish the writers had done more with them that keep them in a holding pattern.
Holli -
RE: Top Chef - so, it's a whole series/season? I thought it was just a one-off special. Either way my ass is in my TV chair for it.
"They are also kind of why I think Jacob may not be "the good guy." It's a combo of the comments and the results of what he did (allow Sawyer to finish the letter, stop Kate from getting in trouble, most likely causing Nadia to die)."
I was going to say something along the same lines yesterday when I first brought up the idea of Jacob being good possibly being too obvious. If you think about it, the guy was responsible for Sawyer becoming Sawyer and eventually murdering a man. He was responsible for Kate not developing a fearful respect for the law. And pretty much killed Nadia. Just because he was mild mannered and smiled does not mean he's a knight in shining armor. And what did we really see from "Esau" (sigh) that makes him so obviously bad? What, that he told Jacob that he wanted to kill him? Depending on who Jacob is, and what he does, it could be a completely understandable comment.
Speaking of Jacob & Esau. I really REALLY want it to not be so obvious as people are taking it. And I really hope the writers did this all on purpose. Because the story of Jacob & Esau is so heavy handed as a biblical allegory. I know the show has been pretty simple and obvious the past season or so. But I really want it to be smarter than that. Especially now that we are nearing the end. F middle America. If they're too stupid for anything less obvious than a kick in the balls, that's their problem.
Also, Jacob was in all the flashbacks, but he wasn't in the Jules one. What was up with that?
- MB, you're right, i didn't consider Radzinski & forgot about Charlotte.
'what do i get to do this season?'
'well, there'll be a lot of walking, and you'll get a nose bleed, and at some point you'll convulse on the ground and talk baby gibberish.'
'can i make sour faces the whole time?'
'sure, knock yourself out.'
- who wants to speculate about Ilana's injuries? I think she was trampled by a mob of Boxing Day shoppers while trying to get her slutty disguises on discount.
Mir, I think it had to do with the Juliet flashback serving a different purpose from the other ones. The others played into whatever this story about Jacob is. But Jules' was about her and Sawyer. The flashback coincided with her trying to break up with Sawyer and saying that she basically didn't believe that love worked. The flashback showed where those feelings came from.
Ah crap. Belated kablammo. Been a while. I'm rusty.
I just re-watched the opening scene with Jacob & the guy in the black shirt (not calling him Esau yet). Trying to figure out what it's hinting at. Most people's theories are being based off the simple 'white shirt/black shirt' juxtaposition & "I want to kill you" line. But again, I think (if not mostly hope) that there may be more to it than that. Found the transcript. Any ideas?
JACOB: Mornin'.
BLACK SHIRT: Mind if I join you?
JACOB: Please. Want some fish?
BLACK SHIRT: Thank you. I just ate.
JACOB: I take it you're here 'cause of the ship.
BLACK SHIRT: I am. How did they find the Island?
JACOB: You'll have to ask 'em when they get here.
BLACK SHIRT: I don't have to ask. You brought them here. Still trying to prove me wrong, aren't you?
JACOB: You are wrong.
BLACK SHIRT: Am I? They come. They fight. They destroy. They corrupt. It always ends the same.
JACOB: It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress.
BLACK SHIRT: Do you have any idea how badly I wanna kill you?
JACOB: Yes.
BLACK SHIRT: One of these days, sooner or later... I'm going to find a loophole, my friend.
JACOB: Well, when you do, I'll be right here.
BLACK SHIRT: Always nice talking to you, Jacob.
JACOB: Nice talking to you, too.
And I really hope the writers did this all on purpose.
But I thought they just pulled everything out of their ass - last-minute Jordan? ;) (totally joking - not trying to re-start any debate)
Seriously though - after Jacob and the Dark Man's convo on the beach about pre-destination vs. freewill (or, I suppose there are a few ways you could read into what they said) I think the "battle" is between more complex issues than good vs. evil. So, I agree with you that I wouldn't want the show to boil down to that - and I don't think it will.
LMAO Jordan!
After reading your previous post, I went looking for the transcript of that scene (didn't find it - gave up) to help w/my response, and ended up just writing and posting b4 seeing your last post. Thanks for the transcription!
F blogspot and its lack of an edit feature again!
You could say the same thing about Sawyer saying "What's done is done." I think there is a reason that Jacob was not in her scene. You could make the argument that the episodes were Jacob centric and that he was in all the flashbacks. Is it possible he was in that scene and we didn't notice? Could Jacob be the dad? I doubt it, but I'm just throwing it out there because the scene really didn't fit. It could be just the showing why Jules feels how she does (which is what I originally thought) but I am starting to think there's more to that scene.
I made a long list of Jacob's influence on our characters in a previous post.
I am one of the people who thinks the Biblical Jacob was a douche, so that's why I started thinking what if this Jacob is also a jack ass.
It will be interesting to see if the red herring itself was a red herring. We see that Jacob offered Man 2 fish and Man 2 said he just ate so who knows.
Last thing, smoke monster/Man 2. Ben summoned the smoke monster, etc. You would think if he's getting orders from Jacob and if the smoke monster is Man 2, then Jacob would tell Ben not to deal with the smoke monster or to fear it. The reason we think Man 2 is the smoke monster is because the smoke monster has taken the shape of other peeps, but maybe Man 2 is controlling smokey. I don't know, but it just doesn't make sense for smokey to be Man 2.
Oh yeah. . . also, we know Hurley and Miles' death powers are different. Hurley can talk to the dead, etc. So it seems Hurley is soon to be how Jacob will communicate with them.
Jimmy Kimmel is my hero.
also, just wanted to say what a great job MB does plugging Aimee, Kim, and Jimmy at the end of his podcasts. he really goes out of his way to mention all the websites, the podcasts, and the ustream channel. consistently, he mentions everything you could think of mentioning and does so in a really clear manner.
also, the Mac stuff was pretty fun. all caught up!
Jimmy Kimmel is awesome. Plain and simple.
And MB, I know you were kidding (as am I usually). But just for the record. I've never said I don't think the Lost writers have a plan. Just that they didn't have this stuff in my back in the first couple seasons of the show. Bit of a difference. ;)
my = mind
I only have the last 2 mb episodes. Is there anywhere we can download the podcasts again? I get them from itunes subscription.
I want to listen to them chronologically. I have been listening to season 1 TLI and cracking up at both K/A stuff and Mac and MB stuff at the end of the eps.
