more TLI?!!
fantastic!
thanks, ladies. :)
So...what IS happening on Twitter with Adam and Kris? I've been looking and have found nothing.
I love me some TLI.
Really?
My birthday isn't even for another 2 months!
Thanks for the early present ladies!
NICE!!!
more TLI = awesome
And it's my Memorial weekend Friday no less - good times.
I don't think anything is happening with Adam and Kris on Twitter. I think our British friend Herlihy was just using some of his funny words to say that people are more supportive of Adam on there. I myself am glad Kris won. One, I like him much better. But mostly, the producers of the show did everything in their power to hand it to Adam. Pretty disgusting quite frankly. Stupid show. lol.
...I said Adam was trending higher than Kris on Twitter.
Ie. More people are talking about Adam than Kris. I just think that it's a bit funny.
Also.
TLI. WHOO!
I was hoping Kris would win--he's "Idol Safe" to me.
I'm glad that Adam didn't win because now he can go out and do his own thing. (After he's done with the Idol tour contract obligations, etc) He's too good for Idol!!! He's f'n amazing.
Steph, I watched SYTYCD--Brandon (the last guy who didn't make the show last season) was AWESOME. I teared up.
So happy for more TLI. Streaming podcasts onto iPhone FTW since computer will be in shop 'til after Memorial Day!
I watched SYTYCD last night with the kid. He enjoyed it and picked up some moves. Yeah right.
Clearly you must record and fast forward which we did. If Kim and Steph record I'll listen. I liked that Japanese guy. What is the deal with woman with the Botoxed smile? They never intro-ed the judges so we never knew their qualifications except the choreographers. That mohawk chick was nuts. I really liked that the judges were fair and honest, but not mean.

I have an actual LOST question. Do you think Sayid purposely didn't set the bomb to go off or just didn't realize that the battery was already dead instead of having a max 2 minutes lifespan like in most of his projects? In other words, did Sayid lie to Jack or just fail to complete the project accurately in his blood loss haze?
Holli
I doubt Adam is off the AI hook. Seems just about everybody who finishes high on the show ends up signing with their label. I think they might make them sign some kind of right of first refusal clause before the show begins. Not positive. But that would be my guess. And he may have an amazing voice. But the dude is just too f'n theatrical. Somebody seriously needs to tell him that not every song needs him wailing on his upper register as if he was a banshee. Unless you really like that kind of thing, it's a sound that just is not all that pleasant to me. Unless he can ever learn to back off, along with trying to not sound like a woman, I can never stand him. I mean, the dude sang with KISS and was some how able to do an over the top version. I think he's just waaay too broadway for his own good.
I watched the final 3 Pushing Daisies eps. Like Andrew said previously, not really much closure. Just more so 3 more eps. They did attempt to re-edit the ending of the final ep and did a new voice over from the Harry Potter guy to try and somewhat tie things up. But it was obviously done way after shooting. I'll miss the show. It was very fun and different. Even though as time went on, I was more able to not mind if it didn't return. Still though, whenever I'd watch an ep, I'd enjoy it. I'll miss Olive's singing. Really a shame we live in a day and age where good stuff like this dies an early death, and Til Death gets new season after new season.
Oh, and if you need even more Lost finale podcast analysis, check out ESPN's Bill Simmons, The Sports Guy's podcast. If you like sports and random pop culture talk, I'd recommend the show and his columns, period. But in the latest ep, him and a friend break down finale. If you do listen, check out what he says a bit after the 19 min mark. MB, I'm talking to you. ;)
Thank goodness Mac is ok.
The smoke monster must be with or is the guy in the black shirt. Ben was told by the smoke monster through his daughter to do whatever Locke said to do which was to kill Jacob.
It seems like someone told Adam to tone down the banshee stuff. Since then, I've enjoyed him more. I think his theatrical background has made him a better performer than the rest. Sometimes he is over the top but it's better than the rest standing there like a knot on a log. But Kris' music is more my taste.
Holli, You're right. The show just jumped into the auditions. Nigel, other than producing Idol and this show is a dancer. Mary, the screamer, will grow on you. She's a ballroom dance instructor. The rest are usually guest judges. The great thing is, we get to see the judges perform. Just wait til we get to the Top 20. It's fantastic. And that is what I love about the show. There isn't the snarky, demeaning attitude toward the contestants. Well, most of the time anyway. It's just such a more positive, uplifting show. A joyous celebration of dance.
Kim, I know! This show always moves me. I'm glad Katee's roommate got a ticket. So talented.
Adam is talented, don't get me wrong. But I just can't see how THIS isn't off-putting. Also, while still immensely talented, he sounds more like a woman than a dude IMO. But at least his screeching is better than this was.
AI and SYTYCD talk. SIGH. What has this blog come to? lol. Where's Aimee with her blast door map when we need her? Anyone planning on seeing T4? I'm not hearing the best of things.
I saw it. I really, really liked it. See the forum, Jordan.
The best thing about T4 is Markus Wright. Hot stuff.
- i have no idea what you guys are talking about. Are Adam & Kris part of the DHARMA Initiative? Are they members of Geronimo Jackson?
- I'm going to see T4 when I can. I'm in the mood for action movies for some reason. Every time I try to pyche myself up for it I remember that it's directed by McG.
- I'm 6 hours into the Lost Lowdown podcast on the finale. So far they've released 12 hours, and I think its going to be 20 hours all told.
- Desperately wanting a long weekend but other people already took off on vacation so I'm stuck picking up the slack. I suspect that I'll be all alone on the blogspot while everyone else is getting drunk in the Polar bear cages.
- got your American Idol ritechea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U66tYpzQTE
oops. she's Canadian. Disqualification.
Dang, that chick is good. Check out this guy. How do these people make some of those noises? They gotta be robots.
Now that's talent.
kim when are u gonna compile ben linus's voicemails? that guy is hilarious! faradays voice is awesome lol.
Some of my favourite male singers sound like girls. Greg Gilbert, Anthony Green to name but two.
I have been to Scotland. I am now back and have finally seen LOST.
A few weeks ago, someone asked me what was in the crate, and I said "another dead Locke" just because I thought it would be funny and a decent WTF to end the season on if it had been the last shot. Since I said it that one time it has remained my standard jokey response to the same question so now there must be some folks who think I got spoiled and passed the joy along whereas it is, in fact, pretty much the only thing on the show I've ever figured out.
Jimmy Kimmel's monologue from the ABC upfronts. Funny to see how awkward all the people in the audience were at when it was appropriate to laugh.
awful ABC promo with matthew fox.
what's up, blogspotica?
big three day weekend coming up. going to listen to the new TLI sometime very soon!
Those ABC promos are awful, though not as awful as that patch of hair Matthew Fox was sporting. Is it 1997 again? Why didn't I get the memo?
Have a great 3 day weekend! We're going to Zoo Brew tonight and New Orleans tomorrow through Monday. Kid left for camp today. Maybe it is 1997 again. I didn't have a kid then and Zoo Brew and NOLA is exactly the sort of thing I might have done in 1997.
Holli
Budget crunch at the ABC promo department. Tough times in this economy, indeed. lol.
Speaking of which, this email in the Sports Guy's mailbag today made me chuckle:
In one of your playoff columns, you ended a sentence with the phrase, "especially given this economy." This is becoming an awkward conversation-filler in society these days. I think at this point it can be used in any conversation, to end any sentence. Example …
Friend: "I can't believe you hooked up with that awful-looking girl last night."
You: "It was just one of those nights, especially given this economy."
The possibilities are endless, right?
good stuff, ladies.
mr. linus' call was fun. pretty catchy tune!
anyone else had to mow their lawn yet? i'm beginning to regret not getting something self-propelling.
i'm thinking that i may need to move some place with a lot of desert so i can stop complaining about the snow in the winter and mowing lawns in the summer. blargh.
maybe a tropical island with a smoke munster or two?
hey! yeah, aimee (i think) mentioned Locke seeing something besides the Smoke Munster and how it was "beautiful" or something. what the heck is up with that?!
Palmer, Big Ed has cut our grass at least twice this year. It's not so bad when you have this to work with.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend, folks. Or Happy Band of Brothers viewing.
I was on a packed train while listening to TLI yesterday...
When ben linus' call came up, i was tearing up and trying to conceal (badly) my laughter. Everyone was looking.
I felt so embarrassed.
- ooh, i want to see Band Of Brothers again, but i'm watching Con Air. I haven't seen it before. It's pretty awesome, in a very TNT way. It features Tom Friendly too.
- PE - you could do what my neighbors did and pave your lawn. He still parks his truck on the street.
Rock on Blogspot!
I saw Angels and Demons.
you have our condolences, steph. :p
oh, i know. i know. maybe its goofy fun or something. but those movies, or books, just dont appeal to me.
also, i mow with a crappy troy-bilt push mower. i'm just lucky it has a motor.
luckily, my lawn's not huge or anything.
My lawn is really overgrown and there is a tiny little tree in the middle. It's been ages since I've done any yard work.
I was thinking about how we see the (uncomfirmed) Black Rock sailing in the opening scene from the finale...
What if that was like...the 1st time the Black Rock came but the second time it came, it popped up under the island in a timeflash. Or maybe the opposite.
This is assuming you can change or reset things. Just a thought.
We have 10 acres.
I don't know why the bad guys in Dan Brown's books always leave clues to be caught by.
Morgan and I enjoyed Di Vinci Code so much because we were trying to learn French at the time and were wanting to visit Paris and see the Louvre and drive a teeny, tiny car on the streets of France. I have no personal interest in the Vatican. I can see that Catholics might really enjoy the movie except for the fact that it shines a bad light on the Church. On second thought, no one would enjoy this movie.
I enjoyed Angels and Demons. It was kind of predictable. I actually prefer the finish in the movie to the book. I would say what, but I don't want to spoil the movie for those who may still want to see it.
I also liked Angels and Demons too--got a little ridiculous at one point, but I enjoyed it overall.
I got caught up in the race against the clock
Like in Vantage Point, right?
It's taken me a while but I've caught up with ALL the comments since I went away. I care THAT MUCH.
KABLAMO!!!
So "Dodgeball" came out on Blue Ray a few weeks ago and I just started watching it and what is the name of Vince Vaughn, in the movie? Peter La' Fleur.
Did any one else miss this?
any who it gave me a chuckle.
Wait I'm confused you guys want me to become a slut wait no you don't ahhhh so confused!
BTW Happy Memorial Day!
- just finished watching all of Dollhouse. It was okay. Not as good as Buffy/Angel or Firefly, but it was entertaining. It helpd that I wasn't seeing those awful Terminator/Dollhouse promos pimping out Summer Glau & Eliza Dushku. I could definitely feel Fox monkeying around with the show at times, speeding up and slowing down the bigger arc stuff. The next season should be interesting because I get the impression that Whedon thought he was getting cancelled and crammed his entire planned story into the end of season 1. Not having that plan might force him to take the story in more adventurous directions.
You're too young for sluttiness, KJ.
Don't worry Chris I won't lol.
Good. Don't make me go all moral on you :D
The Sport's Guy's Podcast is actually really good.
I fainted at a festival yesterday.
I am so fail.
"Festifail"
Ryan, why did you faint? That could be serious. Did you get checked out with free health care?
Yeah, man - put the NHS to work.
Herlihy, did Jacob touch you?
haha. It was 50 degrees in Leeds yesterday. I'm not used to that heat. I like the cold and the rain.
I was waiting for an abnormally long time at the bar so i could get some water and then my hearing went all muffled, eyesight went bonkers. The next thing i knew i was being helped up by this proper fit guy and being shoved to the front of the bar for something to drink.
that happened at about 5pm... i didn't leave the festival until 11pm. I'm just that hardcore...
I bollocksed my knee though.
At least i wasn't jumped on by Danny Stevens of The Audition, who thought it would be good to stage dive during his set from a 20foot balcony... he landed directly on a 17 year old girl and broke her collarbone and sprained her wrist. So, i could have been in a worse position.
In fact, this is a video of that stage dive.
Also, i'm not going to get checked out. I've fainted like that before, 3 years ago, in a post office when it was horrifically warm. Also, my mother, who's a nurse currently studying for her PHD in nursing, said it was probably just down to the heat.
What an astonishing tosser that man is.
Impressive drop, though.
It was quite terrifying, i was really glad that i stayed towards the back for that set.
Good band though.
Well, at least they didn't kill about a hundred people like Great White did, so they're certainly ahead on that one.
That sounds really flippant, but it's not intended that way. That's a clear case of really stupid negligent behaviour having tragic consequences.
Weirdly, as gruesome as it clearly is, the Wikipedia article about that event is surprisingly well put together.
strangely, word has it that the elder of three brothers that my brother and i used to hang out with when i was 6 was supposedly at that night club during the fire and escaped unharmed.
on the bright side, his dad was a doctor so they had all the best Star Wars toys.
also, four things about that guy jumping off that balcony. i'm sure there are more though.
dont jump off a balcony on to people.
dont let someone jump off a balcony on to you.
dont let someone jump off a balcony at an event where you are working security.
dont insure someone who jumps off of balconies.
Hey all -
Hope Memorial day was good! I am tired - but it was generally excellent in central Oregon. Took the Ace canoeing (sp??) - awesome.
must sleep - but first - Jordan -
am listening to Bill Simmons' Lost finale review - entertaining guy - will definitely listen to the rest tomorrow. He certainly does a decent enough job regurgitating your point - or is it the other way around ;)
No seriously - I wouldn't be suprised if much of the plot detail in Season 5 was indeed not in the original outline, and you and Mr. Simmons may be entirely correct. But I'm still sticking with Cuselof's claim of basic 'big points' planning though.
The Slam Dunk festival isn't about basketball?
Probably because I'm old, I wouldn't want a man to fall on me from 30 feet in the air.
I've been slow in mentioning this, but Kyle's call on this episode is absolutely my favourite of his. Full of interesting, well researched stuff.
Also, is it nearly time for the sexy....?
Sexy, dirty kablammo.
Slam Dunk festival isn't about basketball at all. it's just named after a a record label that put the whole event together.
It was very good fun, collarbone breaking aside. I shall have to go again next year.
TRANSFORMINATORS!!!awesome.
Haha, that's a film i'd pay to see.
Also possible new TLI theme?Gotta love that ham!
I think the TLI girls are likely to be disappointed re: Jorge's "Ham Menu" mention on a commentary, if only because if he recorded one it was probably put in the can some time back. You think of the DVDs coming out at the end of the year bt remember that they are usually available in other territories first (to stop us just importing the US ones cheaply, something it's much easier for us to do than the reverse).
Damon and Carlton mention on at least one that they are not done making the series yet. The actors are usually recorded during their availability in this time. After the season wraps they all sod off home for a few months and give LOST a bit of a rest.
It'd be cool, but I'm not sure that it would be possible.
- this is what i've been wasting my day doing: http://www.empireonline.com/crypticcanvas/Join me, and help me out. So far i have 36/50
puzzle spoilers!!
***
Pi, Hook, Happy Feet, Saw, The Pianist, Monsters Inc, Million Dollar Baby, Scream, The Fisher King, The Butterfly and the Diving Bell, Eagle Eye, The Last King of Scotland, Signs, Zodiac...
***
not have any of those?
thanks, i have those.
i'm at 40/50 now.
i can't figure out the cheerleaders, and i can't figure out why "In The Company Of Wolves" doesn't work for the van.
The van is Monsters Inc. and the cheerleaders are Attack Of The Clones. I got up to 40 last night before I caved in and cheated.
oops, Didn't have Monsters Inc. (that pesky van!) thanks!
PUZZLE SPOILERS!!!
Here's what i have so far:
Pi, Hook, Happy Feet, Saw, The Pianist, Monsters Inc, Million Dollar Baby, Scream, The Fisher King, The Butterfly and the Diving Bell, Eagle Eye, The Last King of Scotland, Signs, Zodiac, Liar Liar, Enter The Dragon, Crow, Two Towers, Flags Of Our Fathers, Green Mile, Interview With the Vampire, Pulp Fiction, Anchorman, Iron Man, The Matrix, Bolt, Cloverfield, No Country For Old Men, Gladiator, Dark Knight, Ice Age, Pianist, Brick, Man On Wire, Thin Red Line, Walk The Line, Swimming With Sharks, Little Children, Crash...
thanks to both PE & JamieB for the Monsters Inc.
& Attack Of The Clones? huh. thanks. i never would have got that.
Missed a few in my list: Snakes On A Plane, Eagle Eye, Pirates Of The Caribbean...
looking for: the red windmill, the dads, the crow's flower, the garbage, the train, the dead pope?, the dude hanging the star, the CCC
What's the answer for the car-eating dragon, the windmill, and the chick dropping the brick? Ugh! This is harder than I expected.
Here's a couple I found. I mean Morgan found. Milk, The Flags of Our Fathers, Trainspotting, Gladiator.
Oh, I misspelled Caribbean.
right next to milk is chocolat... yeesh.
the cars are Traffic. the dragon is Enter the Dragon.
this is fun.
meanwhile, up north, politicians are eating raw seal heart. weird!
Trainspotting! thanks Morgan!
chocolat is near milk
Ok, I still need the woman shredding the books, the graph on the wall, the black bird holding the flower, hanging the star, the windmill, CCC, the mother-less family, the dead pope.
The screw is Bolt.
Stardust
shredding the books is pulp fiction. ha!
and yes, i only know because of andrew.'s spoilers.
same goes for the matrix (the graph on the wall).
the crow is the crow. :p
i think that might be a flag of st george, nothing to do with the pope. which would make it something to do with england... or st. george. or something...
stardust? yeesh. good call.
I give up.
good call PE! The English Patient!
we are so close:
the red windmill
my two dads
blue flower
the CCC
Children Of Men!
windmill = Moulin Rouge
good call Jordan. If any of our Canadians were hanging out today they'd be laughing at us.
CCC.
Blue Flower.
nice, JamieB. thanks!
300 is clever.
i'm going to plead ignorance on Iris.
"Congratulations! You did it! You even figured out the fiendish Attack Of The Clones clue! You may now recline on a bed of laurels for a rest, secure in your knowledge that you are one of the top film minds of this (or any) generation. Well Done!"
- so... that Lost finale was crazy huh?
I can't get the cars at the back just behind the one going into the dragon. >:L
random Lost comment...
Did anyone notice that Henry Ian Cusick has a son named Esau?
herlihy, traffic?
