and since I was late to my own party as-it-were b/c I was still at the old thread - here's a re-post:
wow - that "Mi Amigo" movie case is hilarious. I wonder how small Josh's part really is? (TWSS)
Holli and Steph - most impressed by the Lost extra credit. I think you may be what is keeping Lost on this blog over the summer.
Steph - w00t! nice av! and wow, you made it through season 2 already! Were you ever able to watch Season 1? Palmer's right, the Runaway Bride (Christmas episode) + the first episode with Martha Jones just aired on SciFi on Friday. If you didn't record them, I can send you a DVD of them. Let me know.
RE: Sports-that-do-not-need-to-be-on-the -air - I really think ESPN is just going to keep multiplying and they will have to fill the time eventually with this
Trevor - OK, i've been trying to wait for it to make sense so that I don't look like an idiot (which may be impossible according to my high-school trigonometry teacher), but what is NSFW?
Mac is really getting quite the ego. Next thing we'll hear is that he's on the outs with the MYOKM w/SAS posse. Better watch out Mac or you'll have people all over the interwebs speculating about you.
I have a lame LOST question today, but nevertheless it's there for your viewing pleasure. It has to do with Locke's magical ability to know all and be all places.
Holli
And MB, NSFW means Not Safe for Work. Try Urban Dictionary for all your random consonant needs.
mb, I've only watched the last few episodes of season two. Morgan and I are in the midst of catching up with what aired Friday. I haven't even seen anything with the Doctor by which I have come to know as Claude, the invisible man. BTW, have you watched Heroes yet?
i'm just waiting to see what would happen to poor Mac if he started using BootCamp to dual-boot or Parallels for virtual machines. multiple personalities, maybe?
Elias, I haven't watched much lately other than Black Snake Moan. I suppose I can recommend that one to you. My husband threatened to strangle me after I forced him to sit through it so I sat through The Sentinel for him. Don't waste your time on that one though unless you want a good laugh at how they had to edit the film to make Michael Douglas look more spry and agile than he obviously is.
Steph - I have sadly NOT watched Heroes yet - waiting anxiously for the Aug. 28th release. I also, have the season's-worth of 3 Heroes podcasts saved and will listen to them as I watch.
Just FYI - the marathon did not cover all of Seas. 2 I don't think - but Netflix has Season 2 available if you want to see the rest of it.
Like MB i'm looking forward to the Heroes DVDs getting released. Even though i wasn't into the episodes i saw, i want to give the show a fair shake. I DVR'd the whole marathon a month back but when i went to watch it, it didn't include the first couple of episodes(!?), so i just deleted it all. I think M.A.S.H. is the only show that i can stand watching out of order in this DVD age.
the title for "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" always reminds me of Danny Boyle's "Millions". I really enjoyed that movie, rate it a 4.5 on the Netflix scale. If you've got a sentimental bone in your body i'd say stick it in your queue.
Steph - seen the Sentinel and agree. Black Snake Moan interests me. Actually, Christina Ricci interests me. Sam Jackson only needs one more Snake film to complete the trilogy.
Internet went down for 2 hours here and I nearly lost it on the phone to customer service. TalkTalk is the worst provider and I wish them harm. Notice I haven't really calmed down and have to before Jenny gets back from work.
If anyone's seen The Mighty Boosh they'll know that a picture of kittens can magically pacify you. also a stiff drink works.
Andrew - How had I never thought of that pairing? - lol
Steph - I assume you were referring to you and the other 2 podcast heroes. I am actually totally looking forward to having those podcasts along with the episodes. ALMOST like watching it when it aired.
"Talk Talk had a huge success in 1984/85 in continental Europe with the album It's My Life." Ignored in Blighty - the ultimate shame for a British band.
So I get home today and there's a bag from Sam and Nate on the step and in the bag from Sam and Nate there's a yellow Dharmalars' t-shirt and along with the yellow Dharmalars' t-shirt is...
Ghostwatch, Season 1 didn't begin and end with Jack. It ended with everyone and the first traditional flashback, which was in episode 1.3, was Kate. Arguably, the first FB in the Pilot was Jack's on the plane though. The last person to get the FB scene at the end of S1 was Locke.
I am nitpicking, but what the hey. I've still got months and months to wait for LOST, so all I have is nitpicking. (Which is much better than the lice form of nit picking. Thankfully, I have a son and his head will be shaved should that problem ever arise.)
I think my lucky stars every school year, Holli, that we make it out without having to nit pick. Having to do that with with lovely, think hair would be a nightmare. I have to say that I think Martha Jones is lovely. Wasn't she in Doomsday as one with an alien stuck in her ear?
So I got my bright yellow t-shirt in the mail today. And guess what?! I accidentally ordered a small instead of a medium! D'oh. I'm not normally the showing off my nipples type. Oh well, I guess I can wear it next time I'm in Europe.
steph, sort of. that was another case of Identical Cousins. martha's identical cousin was a bluetoothing bimbo who met a horrible fate in a previous episode.
really. i discovered it behind some trees in my yard after about nine months of living here. i freaked out and told my lovely ladyfriend and she said "yeah. it's been there since we moved in." pretty much, it's just an old well but she agreed that it was cool that we have a freakin' hatch like the Lostaways.

Palmer/Ghost- I have gotten my mom into the new Who and she just watched the Christmas Invasion (from Dec. 2005), she was saying she thought the Doc was being unfair in his smack-down of Harriet Jones for shooting down the Sycorax ship as it left. My opinion is that while it is hard to justify letting the ship go, isn't the Doc's point is that shooting someone in the back after they surrendered makes you and offender rather than a defender? I don't know, I can see both sides, but I think the Doc's reaction was overkill. What do you think?

Any Watchman fans heading for ComicCon? I hear there's gonna be a panel just about the movie, and I'd love to hear what's going down...
I heard that he is actually going to play Dr. Manhattan. There's also a rumor that Kate Winslet is going to play Laurie. But there's been so many casting rumors about that thing, who knows what's true.

Ha - somebody's parodying me. I guess I've "arrived".
I've only seen The Christmas Invasion the once (guess when?) but from what I recall it can be explained in one of two ways:
WITHIN THE SHOW: Yes - the Sycorax had been warned off and were leaving, making any action taken by that great superpower the UK (we might be able to fire some racing pigeons at the ship, but that's about it) an aggression rather than a defence.
OUTSIDE OF THE SHOW: You've got yer new guy in and you want him to set himself up as new and exciting right from the off.
Meanwhile, in LOST - how many toes does Alpert have?
I think I solved Juliet's on-Island pregnancy problem by reading The Time Traveler's Wife. You can check it out here. Too bad this book wasn't on Ben's bookshelf.
re: Doctor Who and getting pissed at the lady Prime Minister...
it was pretty shortsighted of her. the Doctor had sent them off to tell their tale to all the other aggressive species. if there are no survivors of an encounter with Earth, then nobody can warn everyone else not to fuck with us.
and it is kind of mean to shoot someone in the back. but then again, who's to say that they wouldn't just come back later and try again? it's an iffy subject. basically it all boils down to "how much do you trust the doctor?"
i guess a better idea would have been to let them leave and then get your death star weapon ready for next time.
ok, admittedly, my fashion sense is limited to Dharmalars T-Shirts (buy your shirt here) but that's a weird ass dress that Maggie's wearing in that picture. weird stuff.

Like I said in the last thread ... that's a funny clip mb, although at first I thought it was 'NSFW'!
I was hoping that we were gonna get to 300...
Trevor -
OK, i've been trying to wait for it to make sense so that I don't look like an idiot (which may be impossible according to my high-school trigonometry teacher), but what is NSFW?

re: Mac - yeah he's out of control. We'll have to try something new for next season maybe. lol
mb, I've only watched the last few episodes of season two. Morgan and I are in the midst of catching up with what aired Friday. I haven't even seen anything with the Doctor by which I have come to know as Claude, the invisible man. BTW, have you watched Heroes yet?

Thanks for helping mb out, Holli.
Great Kwik-E-Mart picks on the Lars' myspace page.
...ooh good idea - the possibilities...
actually, mb, you should have responded with "and maybe one of the personalities won't be an @$$hole!"
Elias, I haven't watched much lately other than Black Snake Moan. I suppose I can recommend that one to you. My husband threatened to strangle me after I forced him to sit through it so I sat through The Sentinel for him. Yes, mb, we are a cool bunch aren't we.

DOH! belated 23-Kablammo
Elias--
I think that's what you get when you go with a New Age band from the 80s as your internet provider.
I wished Duran Duran harm once...
LOL Trevor - I'd never heard of them before.
"Talk Talk had a huge success in 1984/85 in continental Europe with the album It's My Life." Ignored in Blighty - the ultimate shame for a British band.
re: the Kwik-E pics at Dharmalars' My Space - damn that's a lot of Buzz Cola! lol
It's going to be Elvis Death Week here in Memphis soon.
Holli
wow - elvis was hairy toward the end there
my dharmalars shirt has arrived. alas, the golden ticket was not in there. so, it's up to YOU to get the golden ticket.
I hope to see my Lars t-shirt and golden ticket waiting for me when I get home... how awesome will that be??
kim, we'll need pics of you and your dharmalars swag. preferably while playing hockey and drinking maple syrup.
...w/arm around a polar bear, next to an igloo...
(GET KNUT IN HERE!!)
And don't forget the tuque!
Holli
So Kim,
How long does your Mariners punishment last?
holli, i couldn't figure out how to spell tuque. :)
chase that syrup w/Molson
Palmer, that's why I have the wiki link. I didn't know how to spell it either.
Holli
Palmer is our Dharmalars Default Pic at myspace.
YAY.....PICTURES!
Kablamo! to that news.
Holli
I hereby revoke my Kablamo as belated and/or premature.
Holli
sorry holli, i jumped the gun on that. So far we have 2 Lars Pics with the new shirts. love them! keep them coming.
mine should be coming soon. i will post a pic with me wearing it.
I'd love to record with the Dharmalars. But I can't. Because I can't get a golden ticket. Because I can't order a shirt.
Ah well.
Can I offer the TLI ladies use of my voice for about ten minutes of a podcast? I can talk about:
* Doctor Who
* defunct Boston rock band Extreme
* Mike Oldfield
* The provision of trivia by SMS text message
* Nu-Skool Breaks
* Tori Amos
* Slippers
MB thanks for the spoiler update. AND the Pelvic Powerlifting video in the last thread. Highlarious.
Goofball - I'm always trying to spread the joy :)
Ghost - you can talk about Extreme only if you sing "More than Words" in it's entirety (a-capella)
So I get home today and there's a bag from Sam and Nate on the step and in the bag from Sam and Nate there's a yellow Dharmalars' t-shirt and along with the yellow Dharmalars' t-shirt is...
NOTHING.
Oh well ... great shirt though!!!
Why acapella when I know the guitar part?
I can even have a stab at the fret tapping bit from the album version.
I prefer Hole Hearted.
Congrats on getting the shirt Trevor!
Ghost - well you are multi-talented aren't you. To be honest, I always preferred Hole Hearted as well - so take it...
Gotta go home - talk to you lovelies later
Still think of myself as a keyboard guy, though.
Despite my stumpy fatboy fingers.
ghostie, maybe the keytar?
I've just realised how distinctly unhealthy I look in my little avatar picture.
I have the warm glow of the "three hours dead" corpse.
I think I stopped wanting a keytar about the same time I stopped wanting a headless guitar. Probably about 1994.
Might be time for them to make a comeback.
Oh, erm, Lost...
So.. what's the.. er.. deal with...
Actually - has every season so far begun AND ended with a Jack episode?
The fact they had to go into the future must surely imply we have sucked that character dry?
Ghostwatch, Season 1 didn't begin and end with Jack. It ended with everyone and the first traditional flashback, which was in episode 1.3, was Kate. Arguably, the first FB in the Pilot was Jack's on the plane though. The last person to get the FB scene at the end of S1 was Locke.

Jordan, you should order another ... another chance for the elusive Golden Ticket.
jordan, wear it and your button fly jeans! you'll be the belle of the ball, hombre.
Palmer, what cool activity are you participating in wearing your shirt? Yardwork?
it's me by a Hatch.
really. i discovered it behind some trees in my yard after about nine months of living here. i freaked out and told my lovely ladyfriend and she said "yeah. it's been there since we moved in." pretty much, it's just an old well but she agreed that it was cool that we have a freakin' hatch like the Lostaways.
now, to find a TARDIS...
oh. and thanks to ralph for touching up the pic for me.

So... I was excited to come home last night and expect my 'Lars t-shirt to arrive, but alas no such luck. wft sam&nate. wtf.

Whatever Kimbo. :P
P, love the picture--I believe you're doing your best John Locke impression; however, it looks like you're having relations with your "hatch".
I was going to say the same thing Palmer. You and that hatch might need to get a room. lol.

P.S. Palmer, Laurie sucks. At least that's what Dr. Manhattan said.

yeah, holli, the silver spectre is annoying but i'm pretty sure she serves some sort of purpose in the narrative. right? maybe?
kate winslet would be all wrong for the part. but at least she's eye candy.
The Silk Spectre costume is gonna be them to pull off and still be taken seriously.
Good stuff, eh Palmer? I think I've watched through the entire series maybe 3 or 4 times.
I think there was supposed to be a 'tough for' in there someplace!
Palmer, i am glad that you are enjoying the show. I know that i try to pound it into everyone's head, but i know it is worth it. YAY!!!!!

re: Doctor Who and getting pissed at the lady Prime Minister...
it was pretty shortsighted of her. the Doctor had sent them off to tell their tale to all the other aggressive species. if there are no survivors of an encounter with Earth, then nobody can warn everyone else not to fuck with us.
and it is kind of mean to shoot someone in the back. but then again, who's to say that they wouldn't just come back later and try again? it's an iffy subject. basically it all boils down to "how much do you trust the doctor?"
i guess a better idea would have been to let them leave and then get your death star weapon ready for next time.
Happy Harry Potter movie day :)
Too bad the movie will suck and once again rape the amazing book without any lube.
Sorry the movies piss me off so much.
ok, admittedly, my fashion sense is limited to Dharmalars T-Shirts (buy your shirt here) but that's a weird ass dress that Maggie's wearing in that picture. weird stuff.
since there's a new thread.... first!
