LOST makes no sense any more, but i love you all everybody!
If I ever see the Official Lost Podcast guy in the streets I'm punching him in the face.
His speaking style is so fucking annoying. I can't handle it.
Kris White? really is so annoying
Sidekick 22 is becoming that way.
Yay! I have TLI to clean house to.
Whoot!
yeah, that dude is pretty annoying. agree with ryan that threatening to punch him is a but much though... let's just throw him down a well.
wait... what?
ooooh! new TLI!
Kris White. I actually friended him on Facebook. He's a super nice guy and a fellow Kentuckian. I actually have had some small amount of correspondence with him. So, sorry, I'm not going to jump on this bash, and I'm going to go in the opposite direction and say, this blog is fun, and funny, and we have a tendency to be a little bit cynical, but some people are barking up the wrong tree when they start the hate on people they don't know.
Anyway, I like LOST
Mr Eko is the most intriguing character to all of us because we know so little about him. Most of us are so sick of Jack because he gets 5 friggin centric episodes per season. If Eko was still around, we'd probably be sick of him too.
Kris White is ok with me. But if Sidekick 22 says that anything else creeps her out or grosses her out on the next Geronimo Jack's Beard, I'm going to scream.
Time for some TLI. It's a long one. (TWSS)
Holli
If Kimberley chooses not to play the guy from Alabama's calls ever again, I wouldn't complain. What an embarrassment.
Remind me never to age around Kyle from Kentucky. Cynthia Watros is 42 years old. Gravity + age - elasticity = sucks.
Am I the only one that thought Kid was being sarcastic. I'm sure he doesn't REALLY want to punch anyone in the face... c'mon
Steph, I edited Chris' call down! There was about 5 minutes of him singing to a Miley Cyrus call that I took out, and I debated even cutting it out completely. You confirmed my suspicion. I should have NOT included it in the podcast.
As far as Jack...I'm still on his side. I still like his episodes, although I do agree that he doesn't need 5 centric episodes a season.
Eko on the other hand...I could watch 23 centric episodes about him and still never get tired of his character. Cramazing.
I love Jack right now. It's crazy because I used to be such a Locke guy, and now I'm on the side of the guy who opposed Locke for the first half of the series.
"23 centric episodes" I like what you did there.
When did I say I'm not mental?
Kim, I was serious.
If I see Kris White (whose name I didn't know until now and have no clue what he looks like) I WILL punch him in the face.
I will then sue him for hurting my hand on his face.
You know LOST has messed you up when someone's singing the 23rd PSALM and you're like "YEAH!!! Mr. Eko!" (in your head).
If only AAA and TO'Q had the chemistry off set, like they did on set. *Sigh*
Remember the episode when Eko gave Locke the missing piece of The Orientation film? Probably one of the best scenes of the series.
If only.
Last thing, on a serious note. . .
I'm sure, or at least hope, that Kris does not speak like that in real life.
I know Hurlihy is British, so maybe he thinks Kris has an accent and I'm hating on that. No.
I just can't handle DJs, Radio people, etc. who speak in that monotone (insert derogatory adjective) style.
I'm sure he was even trained to talk that way.
JUMP CUT TO STEWIE TEACHING KRIS HOW TO SPEAK PROPERLY FOR A PODCAST
I am one of those DJ/Radio people. I can tell you from experience, they do NOT train you to speak "like that". They actually tell you NOT to speak "like that".
So I (add emphasis to I) was wrong.
You'd assume people wouldn't be trained to speak that way because TV personalities, news anchors, etc. speak like humans.
I guess I wanted to hold out hope that maybe it wasn't Kris's fault that he was pissing me off.
That's it for the Official Kris already forgot his last name rant. "The Last Recruit" airs April 20 at 9pm only on ABC. [Is it possible for someone listening to a Lost Podcast to not know when Lost airs? Is this podcast only available to people in the U.S.? Wouldn't it be more useful to say the DAY it airs than the date? I know today is MONDAY, I didn't know it was the 19th til I looked at the f'n calendar! WTF is the point of him saying any of THIS!!!! Ahhhhh!]
Please note that (pause for no reason) by posting on the Blogspot you agree to Google's terms of . . .
[I am seriously done ranting about this.]
no... i didn't think you were referring to his accent, although i don't know why my britishness was brought up, everyone has an accent. well, unless they're mute.
i just think it's silly to threaten violence because you don't like the way someone speaks.
i bet you'd really hate LoydGrossman...
he seems like a nice dude but his Keegan Gerhard level of enthusiasm is a bit goofy. i'm sure he's just nervous or something. and i'd only throw him down a well if I were a smoke munster. which i'm not. at all. not even a little. why dont you believe me?
also, why the hell haven't i listened to TLI yet? wtf?!
Hurlihy, I don't get it. This is what I meant by accent. He emphasizes words, but . . . I'm not gonna bring up . . . again.
What I mean by accent = British, Scottish, Irish, Southern (American), French Canadian.
If you go to New York, there really isn't a New Yorker accent anymore. I don't really hear an accent in the way people in LA speak. I became friends with this dude from Boston, and he seems to speak like a regular dude except for some words.
Maybe to someone who has a different accent, like you, the differences stand out more. However, I've been to England many times to visit fam and I don't really notice a difference between a dude in London and a dude in Crawley or Eastbourne or Bournemouth.
Also, I like accents. I don't want this to come off like I don't like accents. 50% of the reason Desmond is my favorite character on LOST is because of his Scottish Accent.
My entire point was that I had a problem with the way ... spoke/his delivery (which at least Kim, if not more peeps, understood).
Note: The he I was referring to when saying "he emphasizes words" is the guy from the video Hurlihy posted the link to.
Cynthia Watros is 42? Hell I thought low 30's.
Kim should've cut out my entire call. It was bad. Worst I've ever done.
Ooh. I missed out on a bunch o' fun. Need to make up for lost time.
1 - Mir said he doesn't know what the dude looks like. And in an effort to help him punch the dude in the face if he ever sees him, I give you THIS. Bwhahaha.
2 - Ryan, I think that tha Kid brought up your accent because he was making the correlation between Brits having stuffy posh accents and Kris trying to sound like he has one. If he wasn't going for that connection, I am. (cue audio clip of Kim saying "Sky One")
3 - Kim, Maybe broadcasting teachers don't try to make you sound like that guy. But I'm fairly positive he is going for a "professional" sound. And I don't mean to bash on tv/radio types (yes I do). But a lot of them sound utterly ridiculous. Just turn on any local news and check out the silly female news anchors who for whatever reason always feel the need to speak with low voice. Or any morning radio talk show host. Or any tv announcer. Or Ryan Seacrest. It's like a universal rule. If you get into media on tv, you gotta talk like a self important douche.
4 - The guy probably talks that way because it's the only way he can hide his hillbilly Kentucky accent. Seriously now. What would be more appropriate? The way he talks on the podcast, or if he were to sound like Kyle? Or better yet, THIS GUY! (I kid cuz I care Kentucky. :P )
5 - And Jack can suck it.
When looking for a Kige Ramsey clip, I found a few other greats that I couldn't resist posting as well.
Kige Dancing
Cooking with Kige
Kige on LOST
Not only is he my favorite Kentuckian, he's one of my favorite Youtubers. His channel of over 1,000 videos is a comedy gold mine.
1. Thanks Jordan. Unfortunately there are so many people that look like that clown that I'd have to go up to them, ask if they're Kris from the Official Lost podcast and only after the confirmation (which Kris would probably deny in an effort to avoid a punch in the face or kick in the nuts from countless Lost fans) would I punch him in the face.
2. On the contrary, I did not try to suggest ANYTHING accent related. I was pointing out that since Hurlihy has a British accent he might hear Kris as having an accent where I didn't notice one. I don't know how people are still talking about it.
3. I did not know he was from Kentucky. I would prefer him be a PC Kyle From Kentucky than whatever he is now.
It didn't cross my mind that he might be speaking like this to mask an accent. It almost makes me feel a little bad if not for the fact that by hiding his accent he is suggesting there's something wrong with speaking that way and in a way spitting in the face of all the fine people in Kentucky.
Disclaimer:
Kick back. I am dissing Kris because he annoys me.
Safe to say almost everyone annoys someone.
Hell, I often annoy my friends on purpose just to see if I can still annoy them.
Being annoying is not easy. Ok, maybe it is. But not if you're trying to be annoying creatively, like sitting in the back so you can tug on the passenger in front of you's seatbelt the entire ride.
If you don't annoy someone chances are you don't know that many people or you may be the second coming.
Although, without getting into specifics, in an effort to avoid controversy, even Jesus was hated on.
I get annoyed when my internet connection slows to a crawl and I can't watch more Kige videos on You Tube.
Jordan - "Comedy Goldmine" in an understatement. I could swear this guy lived across the street from me growing up (maybe not).
Kris' voice was a little off-putting the first couple of times I listened to the OLP a few years ago. It really doesn't bother me at all, though. In fact, I'm gonna miss his intros / outros when the OLPs are done. Doesn't he do a Grey's Anatomy podcast too (with the creator?)? Don't think I'll be switching over to that anytime soon..
In the spirit of full disclosure, I've lived in South Carolina almost 30 years and growing up, I actually worked really hard to NOT have a southern accent. I had nothing against it. Everyone I grew up around had an accent, but I knew that it would put me at a disadvantage if I ever went into broadcast journalism (which I wanted to do for quite some time). It actually served me really well because now I can turn the accent on and off at will and sound completely genuine either way.
Great podcast ladies! 3-way with Eko, Billy Dee and Jacob? I don't think that's an image I ever want to revisit...
Kim - There's nothing wrong with not liking sappy romance. I totally share your opinion on the subject. I loved Happily Ever After because I never felt like Desmond and Penny's chemistry was ever forced. It always seemed so organic and real.
Although Cynthia Watros did a great job of selling the emotion, I don't think Jorge did and it really made that beach scene this week feel awkward and overly sentimental.
Speaking of Cynthia Watros... totally shocked to see her on House this week. Kyle, if you find a clip from tonight's episode, you might see the "42" a little better.
Speaking of age. Jorge is 36?
Only thing to shock me more is that Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) is 37.
Look what I started,, wait. what?
What the fuck? I'm at the gym and I just heard Thomas straight jack my Simpsons reference.
Whatever, I can't hate on someone sending love to Desmond. It looks like he'll need it now that he's trapped in a well.
Alright, granted, the "Kim Hates Love Bandwagon" is officially fifteen different kinds of dead but I've been crazy busy as of late. So I have to share some "No children" by The Mountain Goats as Kim's theme circa last week C.E.

What do you think Kim hate more? Love or babies?
Kid, I caught that too. During the podcast, after the well song, Kim says "remember that episode of the Simpsons." That was one of my favorite episodes of all time.
Season 3 episode 13 "Radio Bart"
Kim, if you don't like kids and don't plan on having any, who's going to put you in a nursing home when you're old?
hey! my ipod can hold a charge for more than five minutes today so i'm FINALLY listening to some TLI. yaaaaay!
something for jordan:
Burgler falls off ladder SIX times and still evades Oklahoma police
oh. and, yes, there IS video.
Hahaha! That's hilarious. Only in Jokelahoma.
Not sure who that's worse for. The bumbling burglar falling off the ladder 6 times, or the dumb ass police who didn't catch him.
Kid said:
"...in an effort to avoid controversy, even Jesus was hated on.
OH - NOW you think you're like JESUS?!?!?
;)
Sorry for the lack of Spoilercast this week - life interferes :(
