I do the Watch Instantly on a Roku player over my wifi and it works great. They did just put a bunch of MST3K on Instant. The IT Crowd is on it too. I love that show.
S1 and 2 of Dexter is on Watch Instantly. 4 seasons of LOST. 5 seasons of The Office. 3 seasons of 30 Rock. There's some Doctor Who. There's Red Dwarf. There's Coupling (UK). There's Friday Night Lights. If you like West Wing you might like a British series called House of Cards. Party Down is there. This American Life's Showtime show. I've watched The Tudors (not proud of it, but I did watch it.) Twilight Zone.
Sometimes it will buffer once in a blue moon, but it is never a problem. We already had Netflix and Tivo, so it was something of a bonus we didnt ask for. The only problem i have with the tivo, is that you cant add to your queue, but my iphone and laptop make it easy.
I have a program called "Playon." It acts like a media server. I've got Netflix, Hulu, and Youtube streaming to my PS3 through that. It works pretty good. It costs about 20 bucks.
ruh roh. Lost's final season is going to be interrupted by the Winter Olympics. They're going to air a few episodes and then we get another dreaded hiatus.
Uh. Didn't they promise just a month ago that there was going to be no hiatuseses? Whoever replied that they'll believe it when they see it gets a prize.
Woo hoo! Yay Steph! Congrats!
Speaking of PS3's, I played some mean Uncharted multiplayer with Palmer and Lt Smash tonight. Was sweet. We just need to get Ralph, JoeSC, and the rest to join up! Also played some trivia in Home with Palmer and TDot Kim last week. Good times on the PS3 with the blogspot bros.
Just watched this week's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Hilarious stuff. Also quite liked Bored to Death this week.
The people who live in the apartment under me have had their smoke detector chirping for nearly a month now. And it's driving me mad. It's just faint enough to me to make me think I'm going crazy. They have to either be on vacation or dead or something. If it keeps up, I think I might have to break in and rip it out of the wall.
For some reason ABC thinks we want to watch The Winter Olympics. V is going to be on hiatus until after them as well. Are there really that many women who want to watch unending hours of figure skating? And that control the remote?
I feel like it's unfair to bag on that episode. Am I a huge fan of it? No. But at the same time, there were so many different circumstances that led to that episode that needed to be written and so many ideas that didn't work.....There was a bad casting decision made. There was a bad premise decision made. There was a bad flashback story. Just everything that could go wrong did, but I don't think it was because the script was terrible.
I guess he's saying that the original script was OK and then it got messed up, but wouldn't it seem like Bad Premise + Bad Flashback story = at least 3/4 BAD EPISODE?
I think I mentioned it on Cue the Film once: it's a werewolf whodunnit which, towards the end, has a "Werewolf Break" in which the film stops for a portion of time to allow you the opportunity to think about which character is the werewolf before they reveal it. Bonkers.
I'm not costuming, but I am going to a party. But it's a party where the kids trick or treat with the dads while the moms drink and answer the door. Win for moms.
NBC ordered 6 more episodes of Chuck, bringing the total for this season to 19. That should make all the Chuck fans happy.
Also, ABC is bringing back Scrubs and Better Off Ted in December. Excited for Better off Ted. Not so sure what I think about Scrubs coming back, mostly with a new cast. And especially when this is series creator Bill Lawrence's assurance to viewers:
"It very well may suck. But don't say it sucks until you see it. And my pledge is that if it sucks, it's not going to suck in a fizzly way. It's going to suck in a giant, 'Oh my god' kind of way, because we're really swinging for the fences and trying to do some big stuff."
Hardwired is better in my experience. But you can most definitely go the wireless route. Depends on where you PS3 is in comparison to your computing nonsense. If it's close, I say go with an ethernet cable. If it's far and you already have a wireless router, there ya go.
Anyone else here watching FNL? It's not on NBC til next summer. But it's on DirecTV (which also means the internet) now. Watched the first ep. Awesome. Love that show. Good stuff. Doesn't hurt adding Wallace from The Wire to the cast. Go East Dillon.
God, that show makes me cry. Kinda contrived sometimes but I forgive it. It's nice having the Taylors back on my screen. And what is up with Riggin's head? I'm afraid the boy has peaked on the hotness and is on his way down, like Claire Bennett.
My sister has DirectTV, so she's recording the FNL episodes from now til Thanksgiving so we can marathon then. After that, maybe my father-in-law will be able to come thru with the rest of the episodes. With everything NBC is canceling and Leno's crappy ratings I'd hope NBC would air earlier than summer, but odds are they won't.
Technically one for the SPLOG, but remember: you don't have to click it...
A couple of days old, but nobody mentioned it so here I am: Carlton Cuse did a cryptically spelt Twitter update about a casting decision for season 6 that reveals the name of the actor involved:

watch LOST streaming from netflix on your PS3!
i have netflix streaming on my Tivo. I hope they really expand the library. Ryan told me that they just put up a bunch of MST3K up on Watch Now
hows the connection? any good? or does it buffer like nobody's business?

Hello!
Bonjouur!
/extra 'u'
Awesome about Netflix/ps3! Woo hoo!
Holli, I recently watched the first 2 seasons of The IT Crowd. Wasn't expecting to like it all that much. But I found it to be hilarious. Good stuff.
Ep 2.1 of the IT Crowd is my all-time favorite. S3 is on Watch Instantly now. I've watched all but the last.
Holli
IT crowd actually good? interesting. what other shows worth their salt are able to be watched instantly?
S1 and 2 of Dexter is on Watch Instantly. 4 seasons of LOST. 5 seasons of The Office. 3 seasons of 30 Rock. There's some Doctor Who. There's Red Dwarf. There's Coupling (UK). I've watched The Tudors (not proud of it, but I did watch it.) Twilight Zone.
That should get you started.

IT Crowd is very silly and very British. Nothing profound, but I dug it.
Just realized that The IT Crowd might hit close to home for Palmer. Do we think he's a Roy or a Moss. Or a Jen?

No complaints really.

Ralph - I've had nothing but issues with the Tivo constantly buffering when trying to do the watch instantly thing.
No clue why is does it, but it makes me all the more excited about it coming to PS3!
PS3 and Netflix. It's like two of my best friends got married.
...wait a second. That usually doesn't work out too well.
Hopefully the two can both stay cool and not change like Matt and Candice. >:(
Mhm I love that new thread smell.
I want Netflix. Wah.
Friday I'm getting my I mean Morgan's getting her PS3. I'm so excited.
ruh roh.

Perhaps they're having a very slow fire?
Bored to Death is living up to it's name for me. But I don't think I've seen the latest.
Wait... I just read that the Winter Olympics aren't even airing on ABC. Another hiatus? mental.
I thought the whole point of having the ~16 episode seasons were that we weren't supposed to have any hiatuses at all.
For some reason ABC thinks we want to watch The Winter Olympics. V is going to be on hiatus until after them as well. Are there really that many women who want to watch unending hours of figure skating? And that control the remote?

the olympics kind of suck.
the winter olympics kind of really suck.
boring.
is there some kind of MMA show on network tv in early november?
Fedor Emelianenko! on CBS november the 7th. versus Brett Rogers.
http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/09/17/fedor-emelianenko-vs-brett-rogers-on-cbs-november-7/
and... LOST.
interview with Damon Lindelof. jordan and mb should read it.
clicketh here
Yeah, I'm really disappointed about the LOST hiatus...
ABC hasn't made an official announcement, but all signs are pointing to a 2 - 3 week hiatus...
Does anyone still watch the Winter Olympics? I don't think I've followed them in almost 20 years!
What time do you guys usually play Uncharted? I haven't played 1 or 2, but I may buy 2 based on all the reviews on the blogspot here.
Damon on "Stranger in a Strange Land":
I feel like it's unfair to bag on that episode. Am I a huge fan of it? No. But at the same time, there were so many different circumstances that led to that episode that needed to be written and so many ideas that didn't work.....There was a bad casting decision made. BAD EPISODE = BAD SCRIPT
is what I MEANT to say - lol
The other problem with Stranger in a Strange Land was bad promo that spoiled the only interesting thing about the episode -- Andrew's own Cindy.
Holli
According to Matt Mitovich - NO HIATUS
Twas a possibly-THC-induced blog post I guess
/don't do drugs kids
Skaters - you have a friend in the Huffington Post
So Damon's saying he's not to blame for Stranger in a Strange sucking?
nah. he's saying that elizabeth sarnoff and christina m. kim aren't to blame.
and he accidentally admitted that Bai Ling helped make the episode a stinker.
i did like Crank 2 which had Bai Ling in it. it just knew how to use her correctly.
jon, i usually see at least one blogspotter on Uncharted 2 between 10 and 12 eastern.
also, did he blame the "stuck in a cage" episodes on going over budget with other episodes? yeesh.
"we dont have any money, damon."
"ok. stick them in cages!"
Sonny, don't mention Red Dwarf to Ben, while I'm around! Cause i will have to hear about Red Dwarf and how much Ben loves it ; )
- was the bad casting Bai Ling or the sheriff lady (or both)?
- Oh man, that promo for 'stranger in a strange land' was such an awful tease.
- speaking of Cindy, she's got a new Bounty paper towel commercial! Of course, she brings her usual abundance of class and beauty to this little opus.
- AMC has been killing it with the horror movies this week. tons of classics like 'The Shining' 'The Beast Must Die' 'The Frighteners' 'The Innocents'
The Best Must Die!? EXCELLENT
I think I mentioned it on Cue the Film once: it's a werewolf whodunnit which, towards the end, has a "Werewolf Break" in which the film stops for a portion of time to allow you the opportunity to think about which character is the werewolf before they reveal it. Bonkers.
chris, if that's on Netflix streaming, i may have to check it out. not sure i could convince the ladyfriend to watch it on DVD.
thinking about spending moneys on video games for this holiday season? $80 on games at Amazon before November gets you $40 credit. click aqui.
btw, what's spanish for "click?"
ok. only 624 eligible games for that deal. not including the LOST video game. :p
Well, if it isn't yu can always watch it here:
http://www.dvdhb.com/video/id_331a30b1eb6b24cd.html
i'm guessing it's not really all that worth watching, eh?
I liked it, and Calvin Lockheart looks amazing but I've always found that I enjoy films in which black guys look really fucking cool.
oh! the werewolf movie? excellent. i was thinking you meant "watch" the cut scenes from LOST Via Domus.
sorry about that. i may have to check out that werewolf film then! :)
also, a Zombie Themed Halloween party on Playstation Home on Saturday. weird!
everybody getting your costumes ready for halloween?
I'm going as "fat bloke who ignores his doorbell".
Yup think 1950's hottie+ zombie.
I'm not costuming, but I am going to a party. But it's a party where the kids trick or treat with the dads while the moms drink and answer the door. Win for moms.

I'll be handing candy out of my trunk at church either as this or this.
the mad men costume is much less creepy than that other one!
i'm going to a few parties as MacGyver. got a sweet mullet wig. have to shave the beard though. and try to find my swiss army knife.
- aw, Gelsomina isn't creepy!
Nobody knows who she is though. Only movie buffs. Not many of those at my church, I'm sure.
clowns are creepy.

Do I have to buy a ethernet cable to connect my shiny new ps3 to the internet? I guess I'll be picking that up tomorrow.
do you have wireless at home? your ps3 can connect via wireless. :)

CASTING SPOILER
I would have figured it out without Digital Spy providing the answer, but I'm a real genius.
that casting spoiler (just the name of a person who will be on LOST, not a character or role or anything) sounds pretty good to me.
Pre-Halloween Burger Day, everybody. Burgers today, candy tomorrow.
I know of a bearded podcaster not a million miles away from this blog who would like the idea, I reckon.
Operation: Pinup Zombie is a success!
How zombified are you getting, Kelly Jo? Face paint and blood? Or missing eyes and prosthetic festering wounds?
i think pulling your eyes out for a Halloween costume may be going too far.
I'm imagining that the result will be somewhere between THIS and THIS
But, y'know, wholesome and family friendly.
