Y'all, I don't think FlashForward is for us. It's for the mainstream who has to hear the same information over and over to get it because they don't pay attention. The second episode was the same as the first. Nothing new.
Hope everyone has awesome fall weather this weekend. Looks like we are. Our family is heading down to middle of nowhere Mississippi for Church Family Camp for the weekend. Yeah, I know most of Mississippi is middle of nowhere, but this is actually the darkest place east of the Mississippi River. There's a planetarium there and the creepy old man I keep expecting Scooby Doo to unmask always tells us that.
I still can't figure out what to watch when on Thursday nights. At this point I think I've watched everything but Fringe which I probably won't watch until Monday. FF was okay. Not as interesting as the first week. A little slow which gave me time to obsess over the accents. Why did they cast 2 Brits in the lead roles to do American accents? Come on USA, step it up with some lead actor talent!
Parks and Recreation was the funniest thing of the night for me. SNL was abysmal; The Office and Community were meh.
I haven't watched the second episode of Flash Forward yet. I liked the first episode, but as I recall I liked LOST, but it wasn't until the third episode (Walkabout) that I was absolutely hooked.
Holy crap! Having never seen the amazing movie known as Gia, I never knew this scene existed!!! But if you hadn't already seen it before and wanted to see a hot young naked Elizabeth Mitchell get it on with with a hot young Angelina Jolie, today is your luck day. Heard Mr. Skin mention it on a podcast the other day. Woo hoo. NSFW!!!
It would appear Ralph is intimating that he is familiar with HBO's "Tell Me You Love Me".
Either that or he's talking about finding it sexy that time she was strapped into a booby-trapped chair rigged with mousetraps in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles which would mean that Ralph is a terrifying sexual deviant.
As for LOST and FlashForward - I actually think most of the LOST nutters who really get into the time stuff will enjoy the book. It's very well thought out and the author has thought of a number of different questions the reader may have and sets about answering the lot. Enjoying it so far.
"Either that or he's talking about finding it sexy that time she was strapped into a booby-trapped chair rigged with mousetraps in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles which would mean that Ralph is a terrifying sexual deviant."
heh. you said 'booby.'
i still cant force myself to watch Heroes. and i'm afraid of the Office from two weeks ago being boring so i haven't watched that or last week's.
on the bright side, i'm on the last DVD of season 2 of mad men.
Allow me to continue the Office hate train. Blech. Talk about a show that has overstayed it's welcome as well as forgot how to be funny. While it's nothing groundbreaking, Parks and Recreation is entirely better/funnier and way more worth your time. That is unless you enjoy The Office being unfunny and focusing way too much on the terribly unfun combo of Jim and Pam.
Reading this essay made me realize (belatedly, since I imagine it's been mentioned on here and I just don't remember) how Locke's general MO - that the crash of 815 and the Losties presence on the island is "destiny" - aligns him with Darkman and his predestination philosophy (vs. Freewill). I've spent so much of the series associating Locke with Jacob in my personal theories that this really changes my perspective. Has Locke's problem all along been that he has spent his whole life looking for his "purpose" and not balancing it out with a belief in freewill. I present it as a 'problem' since we have again and again been shown how difficult his life has been in conjunction with his enduring belief that he does have some 'purpose' which he feels he needs to find.
I don't know where to go with this idea - just needed to type it out.
I typed in Dharmalars in hope of something i might have missed i got NOTHING no archive????THEY never existed?? o well i guess tjat was the end...at least for me.big tear shed...from a drunk idiot...:(
Steph, I think I better not say anything regarding The Office. Other than you really don't want to do a podcast about it with either myself or Andrew. Fair warning. TDot on the other hand would prob work. Hmmmmm. Sensing a theme here...
I have to agree with Steph. I was really disappointed with the last two episodes of The Office and I was dreading this week, because I just knew they were going to turn it into overly dramatic schmaltz.
I was wrong. While I still don't think the show is anywhere near as clever as it's been in the past, the wedding episode at least proved that there's still a spark with the writers and there may be hope for this season yet.
On, the other hand, while I got the Youtube video reference in the last scene, it really didn't feel like it should have been in "The Office." I didn't HATE it, but it just felt a little over the top...
On another note, did anyone watch Fringe this week? Possibly the best episode of the series. Even though there have been some really bad episodes (especially the one two weeks ago), they continue to surprise me and suck me back in.
Can't say the same for Flashforward, though... I'm going to give it a couple of more weeks, but I'm getting really close to throwing in the towel on this one!
no. i didn't not like the very special Office wedding episode. unfortunately i was aware of the youtube wedding video before hand too. that show just isn't made for me any more.
Well I'm afraid I have to also throw off Jordan's gender curve ;) re: the office wedding, I thought it was a lot of fun. In general I don't think I'm as tired of that show as some of you - for some reason, it hasn't hit overload for me yet.
Happy Birthday Jordan! I raise a glass to you. I'm at that point in the vacation where we're finishng what's open, so I'm sure I'll be right there with you hangover- wise tomorrow.
I haven't watched The Office or other NBC comedies, nor have I watched Fringe for the last 2 weeks. Amazingly the show I'm liking the most s far in the new season is Cougar Town. It's just darn funny. Modern Family can be funny, bit it doesn't always quite hit. Flash Forward is about to lose me. Nothing is happening, and the characters are actng utterly illogically. As someone said unless they have that Walkabout moment, and soon, I'm done.
Happy birthday, Jordan. The Office wedding episode probably speaks to the same folks who like Glee... which is awesome! Yeah, I forced myself to watch last week's Flash Forward last night. Very cool Jeff Buckley song at the end for a funeral. Who's funeral was that anyway? I don't really care. Ugh. SGU was boring this week. Sand is boring. It bored me in the last Dr Who special. Dollhouse was great, written by Tim Minear(Firefly, Drive, Angel you get the picture).
Happy belated birthday Jordan. I need to keep up with the posts here on the blogspot. I've been so busy lately it's insane. I guess I'm lucky to be working so much.
I have to admit. I'm digging Glee. Really like Community. I'm 2 epidsodes behind on Flash Forward, but I liked what I saw in the pilot. Parks and Rec grew on me. Never been a huge fan of the Office, but I like it. I did like the wedding episode, but I think it's the middle of the end of the show.
So I watched the NBC Thursday comedies tonight. I think it was the best episodes for Community and Parks and Recreation and call me girl, but I really liked The Office wedding. The dance was kitschy as was the real wedding, but I'll admit it, I cried. I thought it was sweet, and thought most of it was really funny. I hope they don't followup on that last scene though.
- yeah, it's always a highlight to see you on the blogspot Kim!
- just caught up on Dollhouse. This season is good. It's not earth shattering but it's fun and I think the writers are doing a good job of maintaining the style of the 1st season while using the unaired episode as subtext for the hardcore fans. I think I can see the direction that this season is taking and it should be fun, even if Eliza Dushku isn't my 1st choice of actors for the story. The Actor who plays Victor however was pretty impressive this week.
I guess the show is on the ropes because of poor ratings, and after the last episode, I would be sad to see it go. I'm sure the whedonites will be in a frenzy to save it, and I hope that translates properly to a good buzz and new viewers. The 'save our show' tact can be dangerous as television is supposed to be escapism and viewers can resent being given responsibility, especially for a show that is best when it doesn't take itself so seriously.
- do Canadians eat cold tofurky sandwhiches all week after Thanksgiving too?
One of my friends got me the Donnie Darko blu-ray (along with the "sequal") and I watched the movie again for the first time since Lost started.
I don't know why it never came to mind during all the universal course correction talk, but I really hope the series isn't going to end with Desmond having to course correct something in order to fix the time line.
Victor! and Sierra is pretty good too. The Save Dollhouse Campaign is well underway. Whedon Fans live for this stuff. I dreamed last night that I was preggers and Jordan came to visit. I can't really imagine why he'd come here. But anyway, I couldn't go out drinking with him. How tragic.
i remember the whedonite in front of me at comic-con who was super pissed after the Wonder Women (of Sci-Fi) panel because she felt that they didnt let Eliza Dushku talk enough and that wasn't fair cuz now people weren't going to watch Dollhouse.
yeah, there was a conspiracy to screw over Dollhouse by inviting the star to a panel with Siguerney Weaver on it. cuz that's not free publicity and good company or anything. ugh.
I've enjoyed catching up on Dollhouse on DVD and watching this season, but that still doesn't mean I'm going to stay home on Friday night just to watch. That time slot is death.
I made a special effort to see Zombieland early Friday and was back in time to watch Dollhouse. That's more because I'm old and don't like being out late. BTW, Zombieland was a lot of fun. I have nothing negative to say about it. If you're going to see it, try to avoid spoilers. Fun.
- Slow internet day. Everybody must have really tied one one for Thanksgiving/Columbus day.
- 'getting' the 1st season of Friday Night Lights. I've heard nothing but good things (with caveats for season 2) so looking forward to that
- Listened to Stephanie & Kelly Jo gush about Mad Men on the Confessions Of An Internet Addict. good job as always.
- while watching Mad Men this week, I saw a new commercial for The Prisoner miniseries (starting in November on AMC) It looks quite a bit different from the original series. I'm excited though.
- we had a family of meeces move into our house this week. The cat got 2, and i caught & released one. The cat is not talking to me.
- I'm sure we did this last year, but let's recommend horror movies for Halloweenie! some slow & creepies: * The Innocents (1961) * Let's Scare Jessica To Death (1971) * The Haunting (1963)
Fast paced & funny: * Drag Me To Hell (2009) * Ravenous (1999) * The Frighteners (1996) * House (1986)
It is frakking raining again in Memphis. I'm so tired of rain. It's been ubiquitous this fall.
For those who liked Once, the new Swell Season CD is streaming at NPR. I think it comes out next week. There's a free single at Amazon as well.
Tuesday night TV is a wasteland. I'll use tonight to catch up on Fringe. I'm 2 weeks behind. I guess next week there will by SYTYCD. Hopefully it will be interesting. Auditions and Vegas weeks have not been.
Funny you mention The Prisoner Andrew. I was thinking about how Dharmaville on the Island in DI Days must have been very much like The Village. Radzinsky would make a good #2.
you're right Holli, Dharmaville does have a kind of Village like quality, but i would argue it's much more pronounced once the others take over. They kidnapped Juliet (and others?) and tried to make her assimilate. Also, there's the way Ben is the leader, but answers to someone higher (Jacob, instead of #1) and gets replaced unceremoniously by Locke. Richard is like the midget butler. Radzinsky would be one of the more prickish #2's. i don't want to spoil the OG prisoner (everyone should see it! so i'll stop comparing the two but there are a couple of other fun similarities)
The new Prisoner looks great. Andrew., was that you that sent Tyler the email to More than One Lessons? In my brain, you are the only Andrew on the internet. Thanks for listening. And thanks to Holli for the comments. Excellent insight.
Good call on Othersville Village Andrew. The thing that got me thinking about it was the fact that they got TV at The Flame and there were TVs in the houses, but I wonder who decided what and when and where people in the houses could see things on TV.
Ben of course would be the ultimate #2. Locke would think he could be, but 6 would run rings around Locke. Juliet would be a good #2 as well.
AMC did have all the old eps on their website. Don't know if they still do or not in case there are folks out there looking to catch up on The Prisoner. I'm glad the remake will be different. Stylistically is has to be or it would just be silly. Yet the style is what makes the original in part so interesting.
Yeah, Tues night absolutely sucks for tv. Not a single thing I watch.
However Uncharted 2 came out today so I'm all set! The game is awesome. Palmer or Ralph or any other PS3 people out there who get the game. We need to play some multi-player sometime!
Hopefully soon I'll be able to play! Or maybe y'all can play with Morgan.
Holli, the rain is here from Memphis. I am so sick of being wet. I ran in the rain Saturday, bought groceries and my tootsies got wet yesterday causing me to be cold all evening at work, and it's raining again now. Is this how Seattle is, Jordan?
Caught up on Fringe last night. The last episode especially was excellent. So now I'm going to stockpile Flash Forwards in the hopes that it somehow gets better when I watch it in a block.
Does anyone else think that airing 4 episodes of V and then a 3 month break until March before anymore episodes is a crazy bad idea? Makes me think I'll stockpile those episodes as well and watch them during the ever so boring Winter Olympics.
yeah, fringe is good. flashforward? i like the scifi parts of it. everything else... not so great. maybe it'll get more engaging in a couple of episodes though.
if she did, she probably had a hard time choosing whether to get her picture taken with straight-laced and responsible Mickey or with hot-tempered bad boy Donald.
To the PS3 guys playing the new Uncharted. If you beat the first game, while playing the new one go to the pause menu. Select Bonuses, then store, then hit square. It will recognize the save file and give you $100,000. Pretty neat.
I wanted to get Uncharted 2 this weekend, but didn't have the money... out of the blue I get a $100 Best Buy gift card from work today for no good reason... I am now picking up Uncharted 2 tomorrow after work AND taking Friday off to devote my sole attention to it. I think this may be the work of Jacob!
Awesome Joe. Congrats! It just might be the best game I've ever played.
Do you have a PS3 online account? If so, what's your screen name? A bunch of us here are on there. Myself, Palmer, Ralph, Trevor, Jon from NKY. Would be fun to all go at it online some time.
So... I've not even posted in this thread yet. Oh well.
I've just read a rumour that there's going to be a big disaster in Desperate Housewives. One involving a plane. One involving an Oceanic Airlines plane.
Yeah, what's the crossover between those 2 shows? Ok, I watched S1 of DH on DVD and watched part of S2 and some Nathan Fillion in whatever season that was.
Did Flash Forward get better last night? I'm pretty sure my recording of it will be messed up by the Memphis Mayor's election. Everything else has been. Got halfway through Community when - Bazinga! the NBC affiliate got me. Going to explore hooking computer to TV today for streaming.
I have officially given up on FlashForward. I don't think I finished last night's. Maybe I did and don't remember. They keep teasing us with Dominic Monaghan and he hasn't shown up yet.
30 Rock was disappointing. The beginning was clever with the word-play and such but it just spun out of control and didn't go anywhere.
I have watched most of this season's Parks and Rec and enjoyed it so much more than last season. It has developed into it's own and Leslie is more quirky and more likable.
Palmer, I am so worried about Shawn for tonight. He gets shot?! I'm excited for the marathon today. I can catch up.
Halfway thru the NBC comedies. Community needs to lose Chevy Chase desperately. They need more John Oliver and Ken Jeong though. I liked the Dean too. Also liked the Abeb/other guy bit. (Yep, still don't know the characters' names.)
Parks and Recreation was very enjoyable even though I pretty much despise Fred Armisen. I love the new black female office person and Jerry. Nice to have someone other than Leslie and Tom in the office banter.
Did you realize Annie on Community is Pete's wife Trudy from Mad Men? I was thinking it was, but couldn't decide, but IMDB confirms it. Also Jane from Mad Men (the 2nd Mrs. Sterling) is the babysitter on Flash Forward. Makes Roger's cradle robbing even more evident.
Pretty much the same. It's decent enough for me to watch. Nothing special though. This from the credits of one ep has been the hilight so far. La Biblioteca rap
Haven't watched all the shows from last night. But as I've been saying on here before, Parks and Rec has been great this year. And was going in that direction at the end of last season. As Steph pointed out, it has a lot to do with them figuring out how to make Leslie more likeable and not as moronic. As well as the show being more balanced character wise. Very similar to how both The Office and 30 Rock needed much of their first seasons to find their comedic voices. For that exact reason, I'm not totally willing to give up on Community, which even as it is now, I think is decent enough to watch. Better than My Name Is Earl, and immensely so than, ack, Kath and Kim.
One of the tv critics I respect more than most and often agree with said he didn't think much of the first 4 ep's of 30 Rock. Still haven't seen last night's premiere. But if the first couple are underwhelming, let's hope it's just a slow start.
The Office can go jump off a cliff for all I care. Yeah, I'll still watch for the 1 or 2 moments when I slightly chuckle. However, you have the Jim and Pam go on their honeymoon, and the perfect excuse to give the other characters the screen time they deserve, and instead you just make it the Michael Scott show, featuring Andy and Dwight. Pretty sure half the cast wasn't even in the episode. Plus, they couldn't even go without one ep without some Jim and Pam, having to have characters call them twice. And even in the 30 seconds or so that their voices were on the air, they managed to annoy me. Grr.
I like, but don't love Community. It has some funny stuff, but the timing doesn't completely work IMHO. The funniest stuff (to me) tends to go by really fast, while they'll beat unfunny stuff to death. I'm sure I've missed funny stuff, but I don't care enough to slow down or rewatch.
I was meh on 30 Rock. I'd like 30 Rock better if it was just Jack, Liz and Kenneth, and sometimes you could get rid of Liz.
An additional TV note - I saw Fringe's ratings from last night and they were worse than 30 Rock, which is bad, 6.something. Any ideas what's up with that? I think the show's been way better than it was this time last season. Is it the Thursday problem? I loved it on Tuesday and wish they'd put it back there.
Now that I think about it, I pretty much hated the Office. I'd like to say Kevin stole the show but it's more like Kevin was the only mildly funny part.
I totally think Fringe's ratings have to do with the Thursday night Network-executive-scheduling-brainless crap. I so hate this technique of sacrificing ratings on a good show (especially when it's developing into something good)to try and eat into the ratings of the other networks. I don't know - am I totally off-base? I feel like one too many execs are trying to get a piece of the Thursday night pie. I don't know, maybe it just all shook out that way by accident. Stupid is my assessment of the situation.
- yeah, i don't watch Fringe live because it's on Thursday & even though i'm kind of over the NBC comedy line-up now, it's just easier to leave my TV on NBC rather than seek out Fox in time for Fringe. I wish they would send someone over to pre-chew my food too.
- The weird LOST viral campaign continues. Now there's a song dedicated to LOST by a good producer, 88-Keys, on his blog, http://polo67life.com/ It's been a while since i checked in with 88-Keys but in the early 00's he was putting out a lot of solid tracks for some good underground MCs. Now i think he's trying to be an MC himself.
- The posters for this LOST viral thing have been mostly pretty bad with a couple of exceptions (the Locke one & the Dharma van one). The new one with Rousseau is just lame as shit.
- When is Parks & Recreation going to realize that Jim Halpert 2.0 is the lamest TV character & either make him the target of jokes for being so dull or cut him? Otherwise, pretty good. pretty... pretty... good.
Agreed. Jim Halpert 2.0 sucks. Pretty much the only part of the show I dislike. Especially since he has scenes with Rashida Jones, which just further hammers home the fact that he is doing a John Krazinski impression. Everyone else though is awesome. Pohler, Aziz, the dude with the mustache whose name I don't know. Even the young girl with the glasses has gotten better.
Speaking of comedies. Anybody here watching Modern Family? At first glance, it didn't look like my cop 'o tea. But after hearing some positive buzz and giving it a shot, I gotta admit it's quite funny. Haven't seen this week's ep yet. But of what I've seen, I think it's a much funnier show than Community.
Fans of Fringe worried about ratings. I fear the quality of the show doesn't matter one bit at this point. All shows seem to have an early window in which they can grab viewers. And after that, unless the show becomes the biggest thing in the world, it's going to have a really hard time grabbing the casual average people who didn't jump on at the start. Even worse, the few people who do go, "hey, maybe I should check that out?", just end up waiting to watch on dvd. Kinda like I've been doing with Dollhouse. Sucks that tv shows upping their game don't see any results or recognition ratings wise. This is a similar issue for Parks and Rec. And likewise back in the day, Arrested Development. AD was actually one of the worst cases of this as it was winning Emmys and getting critical acclaim up the butt and it still couldn't pull in new viewers. I know this cuz I actually watched the show while it was on the air and cried every time I saw how dismal the ratings were.
Also, I was close to giving up on Flashforward as well, but make sure you finish watching the episode from last night. It's probably not going to change your opinion on the show, but it may keep you watching for a couple more weeks.
RE: The Office - I really think the whole Mafia thing was one of the dumbest plots they've ever had. I don't know how much more i can take of this. I still do like Community, though. I don't think they've properly used Chevy yet. I see a lot of potential there.
Jordan - Didn't have a chance to pick up Uncharted 2 today, but I'm hoping to get it sometime this weekend. My screen name is Mekong77. Just shoot me an invite. The South Carolina / Alabama game tomorrow night is gonna put a serious dent in my playing time, though. Go Cocks!
Only the Bama/Cocks game? My whole day will be consumed by college football from the 11 am kick of Texas/OU onward.
Modern Family and Cougar Town are 2 of my favorites. Most of you around here are probably too young for Cougar Town, but as a contemporary of Courtney Cox, both the Hubby and I can agree that Cougar Town while far from perfect just makes us laugh. Pre-season I'd not been interested in either of these shows, but the 2nd half of the Modern Family pilot had been doubled over with laughter. I really enjoy it.
I don't know what to make of Fox and Fringe. They've already gone into cost-cutting mode by moving from NYC to Vancouver. Then again, if they can give the creators enough notice I could totally live with a 2-3 season run for the show and be completely satisfied with it. I do think they're doing a very good job this season creating gruesome, entertaining weekly stories with a nice mix of over-arching mythology.
Interestin you say you'd be satisfied with 2-3 seasons, Holli. I was having a discussion with a friend just the other day about what the right number of seasons for a tv series is. I know it's different in every case. And also is different for comedies as opposed to dramas. But in general, I do think there is a cut off point where shows should in gerenal call it quits. I think 4-5 seasons for most shows is plenty. Seems around there is where a lot seem to lose their creative juices. (cough*office*cough) What do you guys thinks?
I agree that the best shows typically have an end date in mind towards the beginning of the show.
It usually helps to keep the story focused because the writers know exactly where they're heading.
That's one of the reasons I'm not giving up on Flashforward yet. I read in an interview that the producers have the overarching mythology and ending already planned out, so that leads me to think this show is only going to run about 3 - 4 seasons max (if the ratings hold).
Holli, I know exactly what you mean about Cougar Town. It's bad, but I love it. Also, the Bama game is late this evening. I need more than one Bama t-shirt. I will be wearing the same on for the third week to work tonight.
If there isn't a movie based off this video game franchise, I'll be shocked. Just hope it doesn't suck. As the voice acting is already a lot better than many blockbuster action movies. Also, if there is going to be a movie, it needs to star Nathan Fillion. Not saying that because I love the dude or anything. But he is the spitting image of the main character. Watch the trailer for the game to see what I mean.
If you've ever wanted to hear someone interview a space alien, check out Adam Carolla's podcast from Sept 29th where he spoke w/ Bai Ling for an hour. Prepare to have your mind blown.
You guys are all on Twitter, right? That's the reason this place bows now, correct? I try it every now and then, but just get overwhelmed.
Speaking of Bai Ling and Twitter. If this blog had a trending topics, what would they be? First things to come to mind to me would be LOST, bacon, and Bai Ling.
I don't know that I'd blame Twitter for the crickets over here. I think mostly there's just not that unifying topic. Not even a good bacon story lately.
I can do Twitter in controlled, relatively small doses. I'm not on their a ton which means I miss most of any conversations I'd be interested in having (i.e. with friends). The blog is definitely more my pace most of the time - I can check in after a day or so and be able to go back and read and not get overwhelmed.
I can see it's appeal though - if you are online most of the time via iPhone and the like. You definitely feel connected.
I mostly use Twitter to complain about things knowing that no one in my real life uses it. Things like trying to figure out how not to go to Hubby's college reunion this weekend; how crappy local TV is for interrupting MY shows with an election; and Leonard (not Sheldon) and Penny's relationship on Big Bang Theory. So if anyone here has any suggestions, and/or agrees or disagrees -- fire away.
Also a topic, why So You Think You Can Dance should not be on in the fall. The dancers better be as good as Mia Michaels says because so far the season is boring and disjointed and pointlessly long in its setup process.
Jordan - I listened to the Bai Ling podcast the day it came out. I can't believe I forgot to mention it to you guys. If you haven't heard it, you must listen. Anyone who can manage to carry on a conversation with that woman for almost an hour deserves some kind of medal! So painful... I think she really is an alien (and I'm only half-joking)!
BTW, finally picked up Uncharted 2 on Saturday afternoon and I must say, f not the greatest game of all time, it's easily Top 3! ...and I haven't even played online yet.
joe, enjoy uncharted 2. i really like the main storyline and i've enjoyed what multiplayer i've done so far. bluetooth headset and partying up is really fun.
maybe we should all post our PSN IDs over at the SAS BBS so we can party up and kick @$$ multiplayer?
Thispretty much sums up where I'm at with Flash Forward. I think I"ll hang in until it goes on Xmas hiatus, but if it fails to significantly improve between now and then I'll probably drop it in 2010 when LOST and Burn Notice return.
For USA Network fans, there's a new series starting this Friday, White Collar, which has gotten a lot of good buzz despite the fact that Tiffany Theissen is in it. It stars the guy who played Bryce Larkin on Chuck, and a few episodes in makes Natalie Morales who was on The Middle Man a regular cast member.
eh, White Collar looks pretty crappy. probably more appealing to women.
holli, flashforward is pretty sucky but one of the show runners is the show runner from Eli Stone and he's apparently leaving after the 13th episode. so, maybe it'll get better?
"There was more than one attempt to edit this resource at the same time. This may have been because you double clicked on a link or a button or because someone else is also editing this blog or post."
Just typed up a 5 or so paragraph post touching on topics from the current conversation as well as new. I am far too angry at f'n blogger right now to even attempt to re-do it all............... (smash sounds)
But as this article states, it would likely mostly be just the cable network programming, as the networks are currently giving their shows for free on their own sites.
- ah, looking forward to the Europeans lording their early LOST season 5 sets over us again!
- Are people on here getting the deluxe version with the vhs tape and stickers? i'm thinking i can live without the trinkets & honestly i'm a little worried about the set being more unwieldy. Although, as a fanatic, it is a little tempting.
- i think Modern Family, as sentimental as it is, is the best new show. Great cast and good character-based humor.
I agree, Andrew.. I'm recording Batman tonight on Cartoon Network for Neil Patrick Harris. Also White Collar. Also Dollhouse is promised to be the best ever.
I agree w/ Andrew that Modern Family is pretty dang good. The prerequisite sentimental moment at the end of each ep borders on making my eyes get stuck when they roll into the back of my head. But I get it. The show needs to be liked by moms and grandmas too. Probably smart if they want to actually get ratings from middle of the road America. Still a funny show. The cool dad kills me.
Also, I just started watching the original version of The Prisoner. It's my goal to finish it before the new AMC version starts next month. Anyone else watching the original for the first time?

At least I THINK Lost is back in February
Thanks, mb.
Forgot that MB has access. Guess that's one regular. ;)
Y'all, I don't think FlashForward is for us. It's for the mainstream who has to hear the same information over and over to get it because they don't pay attention. The second episode was the same as the first. Nothing new.
We needed a new thread for this?
Holli
how many of us know the secret password?
I do
If the password is "password" then it's time for some creative thinking.
Holli, just do what I do and DVR everything and watch on Sunday after the Bengals lose.
I haven't watched the second episode of Flash Forward yet. I liked the first episode, but as I recall I liked LOST, but it wasn't until the third episode (Walkabout) that I was absolutely hooked.
I wonder if FF will have that type of episode?
Woo hoo. NSFW!!!
Jordan, that is nothing compared to some of the things i've seen Sonya Walger do.
Come on Ralph. You gonna just tease like that with no back up?
- watching endless commercials for "The Very Special Office Wedding Episode" has me really worried that that show and i are headed for a break-up.
- Cindy has competition for my heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzZQ4Ec_g_E
Back to Lost...
Not sure that link is working - one more try

Slow blog day? What, not tons and tons of Heroes deconstruction?
I want to know what Andrew. and Jordan were saying about me. Was Jordan making fun of me?
Anyone notice that the current #1 podcast on itunes/tv&film is "Jay and Jack's FlashForwardCast"?

we were just talking about Starga... shut your mouth
Jordan - they're gonna do one for V as well.
I can not keep up with all the podcasts. Maybe I need to clean house more often. I think that's why I can't keep up.
hello, blogspot!!!
anybody still doing the rewatch? i've slowed down considerably as i'm lazy as all get out. however, i'm halfway through season 2.
locke just punched the bejeezus out of charlie's face. awesome.
hey blogspot how have you been?
pretty good. where's the link to your office podcast?
We haven't released an episode yet but it's at http://dunderheadnation.podbean.com/
Have you recorded yet, Kelly?
Blarg!!!
Yeah I'm going to edit it tonight it'll be out tomorrow
is the Office an hour long? how does that impact Parks & Recreation?
Doesn't. Just means no stupid SNL Weekend Update.
ah! phew.
can you tell that i dvr tv instead of watching live?
Whaaaat? No post-Office wedding special thoughts?
Loved it? Hated it? What say you?
didnt watch it. yet.
hope to watch Parks & Recreation on the DVR tonight. then catch up on the past two weeks of The Office sometime soon.
how is Community? any good?
Ka-Blam-Mo!!
If you boys diss the Office wedding episode, you have no heart. See this just in case you don't get the reference.
So I was under the influnce and bored.
I typed in Dharmalars in hope of something i might have missed i got NOTHING no archive????THEY never existed?? o well i guess tjat was the end...at least for me.big tear shed...from a drunk idiot...:(
hey, rrb. welcome back!
happy birthday to jordan. Uncharted 2 on Tuesday?
Ugh. So. Hung. Over. Head. Hurts. Ugh.
As for Uncharted 2. You know it! Can't wait!
Happy Birthday Jordan.
no. i didn't not like the very special Office wedding episode. unfortunately i was aware of the youtube wedding video before hand too. that show just isn't made for me any more.
rock on blogspot.
Well I'm afraid I have to also throw off Jordan's gender curve ;) re: the office wedding, I thought it was a lot of fun. In general I don't think I'm as tired of that show as some of you - for some reason, it hasn't hit overload for me yet.
Happy Birthday Jordan! sorry you had the hangover - hope that means it was worth it though :)
Holli
Happy birthday, Jordan. The Office wedding episode probably speaks to the same folks who like Glee... which is awesome!
Yeah, I forced myself to watch last week's Flash Forward last night. Very cool Jeff Buckley song at the end for a funeral. Who's funeral was that anyway? I don't really care. Ugh.
SGU was boring this week. Sand is boring. It bored me in the last Dr Who special.
Dollhouse was great, written by Tim Minear(Firefly, Drive, Angel you get the picture).
i just realized that i made a typo. i didn't like The Office, if that wasn't clear. I'm not watching it any more.
i DID like Fringe. I'm usually not very impressed by the big mythology stories in most series, but Fringe is doing a good job.
30 Rock this week!
fringe is engaging and enjoyable.
flashforward... eh, not so much.
Yeah, if this were The Office's last season, it wouldn't break my heart. It's had a good run. I could live without it.
Holli
happy thanksgiving, canada!!
Canada thanks you, P
I have been away for too long...
How tragic.
Andrew., more people are watching Smallville on Friday on the CW than are watching Dollhouse on Fox. The numbers are really bad.
i remember the whedonite in front of me at comic-con who was super pissed after the Wonder Women (of Sci-Fi) panel because she felt that they didnt let Eliza Dushku talk enough and that wasn't fair cuz now people weren't going to watch Dollhouse.
yeah, there was a conspiracy to screw over Dollhouse by inviting the star to a panel with Siguerney Weaver on it. cuz that's not free publicity and good company or anything. ugh.
I've enjoyed catching up on Dollhouse on DVD and watching this season, but that still doesn't mean I'm going to stay home on Friday night just to watch. That time slot is death.
Holli
Thanks for the words guys. Man, what a wild weekend. Think I'm gonna be recovering for a bit.
I've been meaning to watch Dollhouse. I figure by the time I get around to doing so, if I end up liking it, it'll prob get canceled.
I made a special effort to see Zombieland early Friday and was back in time to watch Dollhouse. That's more because I'm old and don't like being out late. BTW, Zombieland was a lot of fun. I have nothing negative to say about it. If you're going to see it, try to avoid spoilers. Fun.
the worst jerk chicken ad ever
hey! is that a U in neighbor? and does that say Toronto?!
has Kim seen this ad?
What's up blogspot? Palmer must be sick today.
- I'm sure we did this last year, but let's recommend horror movies for Halloweenie!
some slow & creepies:
* The Innocents (1961)
* Let's Scare Jessica To Death (1971)
* The Haunting (1963)
Fast paced & funny:

* Ravenous (1999)
* The Frighteners (1996)
* House (1986)
Holli
you're right Holli, Dharmaville does have a kind of Village like quality, but i would argue it's much more pronounced once the others take over.
This is the perfect Halloween movie. It's outstanding.
Tuesday night is a wasteland. Nothing. At all.
Holli
- Trick R Treat is a fun Halloween movie. Totally should have been released in theaters instead of Saw 35 or whatever watered down remake.
- i didn't send an e-mail to More than One Lessons but i will fight to be the only Andrew. on the internet.
- The only thing i watch on Tuesdays is Chopped on the Food Network. The really cocky chefs usually lose so i like that.
haha, no. 6 would completely ruin Locke as no. 2
Yo blog. Sup.

Holli
yeah, fringe is good. flashforward? i like the scifi parts of it. everything else... not so great. maybe it'll get more engaging in a couple of episodes though.
one thing, it does humor awfully.
also, UNCHARTED 2!!!!!!
So do you think Kate took Aaron to Disneyland since she'd never been according to her I Never game with Sawyer?
Holli
if she did, she probably had a hard time choosing whether to get her picture taken with straight-laced and responsible Mickey or with hot-tempered bad boy Donald.
Do you think Kate would pick Chip or Dale?
Holli
the decision might drive her nuts.

I know, right?! Wow! That's all I can say about this game.
To the PS3 guys playing the new Uncharted. If you beat the first game, while playing the new one go to the pause menu. Select Bonuses, then store, then hit square. It will recognize the save file and give you $100,000. Pretty neat.
niiiiiiiiiiiiice. i'll check that out.
Would be fun to all go at it online some time.
enjoying Uncharted 2 but wouldn't mind the weekend getting here so i could play it for a nice long chunk of time.
thanks for the $100K, jordan!
Look what I missed by having no internet. Nothing! Yay hiatus.
new LOST poster with cast silhouettes.... spoilerishical?
So... I've not even posted in this thread yet. Oh well.
I've just read a rumour that there's going to be a big disaster in Desperate Housewives. One involving a plane. One involving an Oceanic Airlines plane.
I'm not impressed.
Holli
Holli
Did you realize Annie on Community is Pete's wife Trudy from Mad Men? I was thinking it was, but couldn't decide, but IMDB confirms it. Also Jane from Mad Men (the 2nd Mrs. Sterling) is the babysitter on Flash Forward. Makes Roger's cradle robbing even more evident.
Holli
heck yeah, that's trudie.
did community get better after the pilot?
Holli
An additional TV note - I saw Fringe's ratings from last night and they were worse than 30 Rock, which is bad, 6.something. Any ideas what's up with that? I think the show's been way better than it was this time last season. Is it the Thursday problem? I loved it on Tuesday and wish they'd put it back there.
Holli
Now that I think about it, I pretty much hated the Office. I'd like to say Kevin stole the show but it's more like Kevin was the only mildly funny part.
because i care about you, balloon boy as fresh prince via facebook status update
KA to the BLAMMO!
**end rant**
DOH!!!!!
the day is yours Eldrich
muahahahahahaahahaah!
/evil space cyborg laugh
//this guy
Now there's a song dedicated to LOST by a good producer, 88-Keys, on his blog, http://polo67life.com/
It's been a while since i checked in with 88-Keys but in the early 00's he was putting out a lot of solid tracks for some good underground MCs.
Fringe wasn't as good as last week, but still better than anything else on TV last night.
Steph - Here's a good explanation why you shouldn't be worried about Fringe's ratings. It may not have great numbers, but it's doing much better than Fox's lineup last year.

I'd even say that with some shows where the premise is a bit limited, 2-3 should be enough.
Also forgot (cough*weeds*cough).
Mitchell and Cameron have become my favorite tv couple.
Holli, I know exactly what you mean about Cougar Town. It's bad, but I love it. Also, the Bama game is late this evening. I need more than one Bama t-shirt. I will be wearing the same on for the third week to work tonight.
Oh, I forgot. Paranormal Activity is hugely overrated. Just like The Blair Witch Project.
Anybody see this video of a baby that fell in front of an on-coming train and survived? Holy crap!
that's a tough baby.
steroids?
...hey! check this out. courtesy of Peter Serafinowicz and a Peter Serafinowicz fan. Mos Eisley Re-Edit :)
Up was finally released in the UK last week.
Am waiting for the missus to be interested in going to see it.
I suspect I will eventually get a scratched DVD of it from LOVEFiLM which I'll have to send back.
lost postsecret
y'all know what postsecrets are, right?
I do now.
BLOGSPOT!! what's up?
Dudes.
I thought of all you Uncharted 2 players several times yesterday. That's a pretty good TV ad campaign.
Holli
I'm seeing Uncharted 2 discussed everywhere.
Cuz it's that good.
Jordan loves Nathan Fillion.
Ergo, Jordan loves men.
Ergo, Jordan is a gay. Or a Bisexual. Or at the very least a little bicurious.
Don't you wish. ;)
uh oh. blogspot slash fiction? :\
Ummmmm... I don't know what you look like.. and i don't think a transatlantic relationship would be a good thing.
Also, I'm taken. Sorry.
And on a different note....
I hear some on here have seen the new BSG movie. Thoughts?
I'm still trying to convert the avi file to mp4.
Nathan Fillion should just play every role.
we are 138!
BSG: The Plan (to Get More Money)
hope its good.
Holli
Yeah. But I think Twitter has taken the place for most of the randomness.
I think y'all should take a page out of Miley Cyrus' book.
I'd like to take a page out of Miley Cyrus's book.
You definitely feel connected.
their = there
I mostly use Twitter to complain about things knowing that no one in my real life uses it.
Holli
Jordan - I listened to the Bai Ling podcast the day it came out. I can't believe I forgot to mention it to you guys. If you haven't heard it, you must listen. Anyone who can manage to carry on a conversation with that woman for almost an hour deserves some kind of medal! So painful... I think she really is an alien (and I'm only half-joking)!
BTW, finally picked up Uncharted 2 on Saturday afternoon and I must say, f not the greatest game of all time, it's easily Top 3! ...and I haven't even played online yet.
Oh, and for those of you that have played Uncharted, did you notice The Dharma Wheel in Nate's notebook?
Coincidence or shout out to Lost? I'd like to think it was the latter.
Dharma Wheel?
Sure you don't just mean an I Ching?
he means dharma wheel.
Good catch Palmer! I didn't even plan to dig much further on that one.
joe, enjoy uncharted 2. i really like the main storyline and i've enjoyed what multiplayer i've done so far. bluetooth headset and partying up is really fun.
maybe we should all post our PSN IDs over at the SAS BBS so we can party up and kick @$$ multiplayer?
Wronged cat.
Holli
Yeah, multiplayer is fun. I need to get a headset though.
This week's Heroes episode was titled, "Tabula Rasa". What's next week's? Further Instructions?
Agreed
Tabula Rasa is a very common title. I don't think this is the first Heroes episode that sounds identical to Lost. Homecoming. That's it.
Thirded.
and Fourthed.
and some jerk philosopher ripped it off too! :p
Meanwhile, in 1999.
and, in the music world, Tabouli Rasa.
/wait... what?
Thispretty much sums up where I'm at with Flash Forward. I think I"ll hang in until it goes on Xmas hiatus, but if it fails to significantly improve between now and then I'll probably drop it in 2010 when LOST and Burn Notice return.
For USA Network fans, there's a new series starting this Friday, White Collar, which has gotten a lot of good buzz despite the fact that Tiffany Theissen is in it. It stars the guy who played Bryce Larkin on Chuck, and a few episodes in makes Natalie Morales who was on The Middle Man a regular cast member.
Holli
Mark Sheppard will be in White Collar. I'm so there. I'm editing a conversation about it at this very moment.
eh, White Collar looks pretty crappy. probably more appealing to women.
holli, flashforward is pretty sucky but one of the show runners is the show runner from Eli Stone and he's apparently leaving after the 13th episode. so, maybe it'll get better?
To wipe the slate clean of the Tabula Rasa conversation, check out the Windows 7 Torrenting Party.
I saw that Palmer. Problem is I may not get to Ep.14 if I have to watch Joseph Fiennes flash one more time. It's even in the damn commercials.
Holli
chris, that's awesome.
And full of useful hints.
and a clever metaphor needling torrenters at the end!
speaking of which
- nobody should pay for that piece of shit BSG: The Plan movie.
Not so good news for Dollhouse
Hulu to begin charging as soon as next year?
But as this article states, it would likely mostly be just the cable network programming, as the networks are currently giving their shows for free on their own sites.
yeah, Hulu being pay would suck. we'll see how long that lasts.
also, watch someone eat the Windows 7 Burger from Burger King in Japan.
Lost season 5 Blu Ray and DVD adverts have started showing on uk tv.
It makes me want to watch season 5 again.
I want to go to Japan.
And who is down for a road trip to Tokyo?
Also, I just started watching the original version of The Prisoner. It's my goal to finish it before the new AMC version starts next month. Anyone else watching the original for the first time?
Jordan, that's so funny. I was watching Blood: the Last Vampire last night and I was saying I want to go to Japan. Let's go.
jordan, i've been meaning to watch The Prisoner for a few months now. maybe i'll actually get to it now that the new show is coming out.
P, Here are all the old Prisoner eps on AMC's website.
I promise I won't be lording a LOST box set over you unless I get myself some serious employment.
as compared to the more rare type of frivolous employment.
Well, I have considered sticking some hair on and going into the Bear market.
Jordan is right - I absolutely should be posting this stuff here.
For which I, of course, apologise.
Drastic times call for drastic measures, Chris. Nobody here is judging.
I knew you'd understand.
Netflix on PS3? Cuz then you could Netflix LOST and watch on your PS3 streaming from the interwebbings!
