For some reason I just can't get going on my rewatch. I've been bogged down for weeks now. I'm listening to Mr. Bill's finale podcast right now. Dang that finale was good wasn't it.

Palmer, yes. Sugar-free for 36 hours now. I've had a dull, persistent headache for the past 12 hours and have shin-splints. Tomorrow will be a better day. I'll be alright as long as I have a pack of sugar-free hershey dark chocolate candy bars, fruit and half fat mozzarella sticks to snack on.

t-dot kim said...

Steph, what made you decide to go sugar-free?

I'm a little a head of the re-watch. I've started season 2 already!!

Kim, I need to lose weight. Basically I've tried everything. My mom has started with a personal trainer who guaranteed her she will drop a dress size a month. I can't let my mother lose weight without me and I can't afford $250 a month for a trainer. I'm doing the same thing she is and having my co-worker who is a certified trainer help me. Low-carb, low-fat diet and exercising like a mad person should do the job.

Rick Fox being compared to a handsome giraffe is pretty hilarious.

Oh. Hi blogspot. long time no speak.

...I don't even know why I'm mentioned in this blog, i've not even watched a single episode back.

- Brian K Vaughn has left the writing staff of LOST and won't be a part of the 6th season team.

I suspect that Vaughn has been one of the more audacious cooks in the kitchen, and even though i've been nitpicky about the writing in the last 2 seasons, that willingness to keep stretching the show's believabilty has kept it fresh and exciting. His input will be missed.

Morgan said...

Kim, season 2!!! I want to go ahead so badly, but I also want to make it last and discuss. But I'm ahead as well, I just finished "Homecoming" last night.

Stephanie said...

Brian K Vaughn. That kid's going places.

memphish said...

I wonder if anyone other than Damon and Carlton will actually write any episodes this season? Seems to me they're the guys with the what needs to go in each episode and hopefully they'll make sure it gets put in each episode properly. Brian K. Vaughn is more than a typist so I hope he'll go on to something excellent as well, but I'm guessing this season won't be the most personally creative for the no-name writers. (See Top Chef Masters where the writers were never id-ed.)

PalmerEldritch said...

i think that whoever is on the writing staff has the confidence of Carlton and Damon and will, at least, do a passable job. certainly, Vaughn seems like a talented guy so he'll be missed. anyone know what he's working on next?

Jordan said...

Regarding Vaughan's future projects:

"On the DocArzt & Friends Lost Podcast, Lindelof said that Vaughan “has left for greener pastures.” This, we can only assume, is to dedicate more time to the properties that he’s currently got churning at various studios around Hollywood. He has his own take on the legend of King Arthur, entitled Roundtable, in development at Dreamworks. Marvel is still working on getting his book Runaways to the big screen. Warner Bros. is holding onto, but obviously still interested in moving on his most famous comic, Y: The Last Man. And BenderSpink is still eyeing a big screen adaptation of his comic Ex Machina."

Stephanie said...

Didn't Joss Whedon write some of the Runaway comics?

feeling any better, steph?

my weight loss plan is to ride an exercise bike (from 1980something) while re-watching LOST. and try to eat less fattening foods. key word being try.

Glad you said that Holli - totally agree and was just thinking about it.

RE: the rewatch - I am watching - but slowly like Palmer. Ive watched through ep. 5 online. Most excellent to see the 815ers meet each other again - you really notice a lot of things that you didn't before

Stephanie said...

That's a different Runaways. Runaways with Dakota Fanning and that chick from Twilight is about Joan Jett. Brian K. Vaughn Runaways is about children of superheroes.

Stephanie said...

Yes, Palmer. I'm feeling very good today. Better than I have in a long time. Sugar, more like high fructose corn syrup is toxic and may even be of the devil.

PalmerEldritch said...

high fructose corn syrup is definitely gross. so, you've successfully detoxed?

found out why Vaughn left LOST. can't really blame him.

memphish said...

What's this deal about Lindeloff talking to the DocArzt podcast? I don't listen to it or go to that site because of my severe case of spoilerphobia. Is Lindeloff talking to podcasters now? And if so why did he pick that one?

here are my two week (three week?) late thoughts on Walkabout.

HOLY FUCK. good music and good end scene(s).

did Smokey catch a boar for Locke?

and, in season 3 or so, does Smokey keep Eko around trying to decide who would be more fun to manipulate into killing Jacob, ultimately deciding on his original choice and offing Eko when Eko declares he's not repentant and whatnot?

PalmerEldritch said...

also, Claire (who's adorable and you just want to give a hug to in season one) has got squinty eyes sometimes... just like Dr. Coconut Head!

good casting! ;)

Nothing apparently.

scrdmnkydst said...

erm. nothing. I'm still wading through One Tree Hill. And after that, I'm starting a LOST Re-watch.

I'm also reading a Mill And Boon novel for Uni. Kinky.

Stephanie said...

Is that the same book you've been reading since we recorded? I remember as a kid my mom having the entire linen closet filled with Harlequin Romance novels.

I finished Party Down. "Don't stop believing." When does season 2 start?

Stephanie said...

I don't know which is my favorite but I really enjoyed Jane Lynch smoking pot in the bathroom. I just enjoyed Jane Lynch all the way around. Also enjoyed the relationship between Henry and Casey and Roman being oblivious to it. I kept expecting Paul Rudd to show but never did. Maybe next season. I see it premiered in March. I hope I don't have to wait til next March to see if the Soup and Crackers gig fell through for Ron. Oops. Spoiler alert. Thinking more about it, maybe the Sweet 16 episode was my favorite. Ron hanging out with the rappers was pretty hilarious.

Jordan said...

I'm glad people on here enjoyed Party Down. Besides Breaking Bad, it is the other mostly unknown new show I have been recommending to friends. It will be interesting to see what comes of the second season, as the whole cast was only signed on for the one season. I hope they are able to get most everyone back. Although Steph, I'm afraid that Jane Lynch prob won't return if that Glee show stays on the air. She already was replaced by Stiffler's mom in the last couple eps. Interesting you mentioned Paul Rudd making an appearance. I read in an interview that they would like to have him in an ep at some point, but that he was just too busy. He is credited as a co-creator of the show. But he really didn't have much anything to do with the production of last season at all. He helped come up with the idea for the show and was more involved in early development. Henry is basically based off him. The show was originally conceived five years ago. And in between then and now, Rudd's movie career took off big time. Here is the very informative interview with the show runners that delves into all of what I just mentioned and more.

Jordan said...

Hey Sonny. Are you the same person as RRB? Just curious.

Ok, so we watched the film "Pi" today in English. Has anyone seen this? I can't tell if it was great or horrible.

andrew. said...

- re: Pi - i'd say its overall very good. It's got a great energy, some inventive shots, and unique plot elements, but it's pretty clear that Aronofsky tries to finesse the whole story by turning up the volume and aggressive camera work for the last third. Also, I hope he thanks "Tetsuo The Iron Man" somewhere in the credits.

- i'm about to settle into some frustrating web design work, anyone have any recommendations for watch-instantly picks on Netflix?

memphish said...

I'm currently watching The IT Crowd on Watch Instantly. Season 2 just recently arrived. I also watched S1 of The Tudors this past weekend, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it. I enjoyed it, but it tends to be a little more soap opera-y than most around here would like.

You've seen Dexter right Andrew? If not watch Dexter. There's also some old Hitchcock available -- 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes. Have you seen S1 of Friday Night Lights? That's awesome and it's on there. Also both seasons of This American Life.

PalmerEldritch said...

oh. watched White Rabbit last night.

first use of "Live Together, Die Alone" and "new sheriff in town."

memphish said...

I for one really hope we make it through S6 without having to hear "live together, die alone." Prediction -- they all die alone.

I restarted my S3 rewatch this morning. Got through Par Avion and wanted to punch John Locke in the face numerous times. What C4? Oh, that C4. What is he, Fiona?

So far S3's biggest mystery to me is why the heck these Others follow Jacob. Mikhail gets all rhapsodic about him before he "dies" in the fence. What did Jacob ever do for Mikhail? At least what does he think he's done? Also I really hope Jacob brought Mrs. Littleton out of her coma (and performed her mole surgery.)

Holli

scrdmnkydst said...

I daresay that we'll hear "live together, die alone" at least once, but it'll probably be in the finale like in the last two where it's just been some throwaway line that's an in joke for the fans.

IE. when Jack was going to the Orchid in the season 4 finale and Sawyer was all "have you just done the whole running-into-the-jungle-with-a-walkie plan?" then Jack makes some halfarsed remark and Sawyer follows him and is all "wait up doc, you don't get to die alone"

Chris JC said...

Live with Trevor, drive a bone.

John V. Holder III said...

I love when they mention 'live together, die alone.' I always thought it was a cool motto to live by...in the LOST jungle and here in the real world.

I think I hated every second of Pi. Maybe it was the fact that I watched it at 8am after not having slept the night before. I need to watch it again. The acting by Max seemed terrible at some points. And the black wall street lady made me want to throw stuff.

I'm watching Big Brother. I can't believe that Meat Head Jesse is back in the house... HoH. Ugh

John V. Holder III said...

I was rooting for Brian to get back in the house...he was my favorite houseguest last season and was the first one out. Jesse is funny though, sometimes. I'm totally rooting for the off-beats: Casey, Lydia, and Kevin...and I think I'll end up rooting for Jesse too. Laura's boobs are insanely big.

What the heck show are you guys talking about? Hurley's brother? Lesbian girlfriend? Man, I don't remember any of that at all.

andrew. said...

Diego Reyes Is My Co-Pilot

PalmerEldritch said...

Diego Reyes is hanging out with Chuck Cunningham.

PalmerEldritch said...

also, as to whether or not Diego is important, Hurley said it best: "Ignore him. He's an idiot."

after all, the writers clearly have.

Just watched another ep of Band of Brothers. Another future name actor making a very brief and minor appearance, joining the likes of Simon Pegg and James McElvoy. This time it was Jamie Bamber aka Apollo from BSG. He shows up for about 10 seconds during a battle to yell at a shell shocked officer.

memphish said...

Do you think Charles Widmore after he was banished from the Island still had a spy there who was telling him things like hey, this guy Desmond landed here? I'm wondering this because of Naomi having the picture of Des and Penny as her cover story, though of course none of the other freighties are apparently in on that cover story.

Mario Marathon Men

These men are my gods.

PalmerEldritch said...

why did WiddyCent send Desmondo out on that boat?

John V. Holder III said...

I don't think Widipedia sent Desmond on the race...that was Desmond's idea. Unless you're saying the race was Widmore's way of indirectly coercing Des into sending him away or even going to the island. Did Widmore know Des ended up on the island in the future? I don't think so...but possibly.

John V. Holder III said...

OK...On Big Brother, I have found the player I'm rooting for. It's Jeff the Athlete. He's a badass.

PalmerEldritch said...

Wig-more "sponsors" Desmond for the race, right?

so, is he sending him there cuz of... FARADAY'S GIRL-NAL???

and he would have known from the journal that Desmond would be stuck on an Island and that's why he's a total dick to him? so Penny won't get attached to Desmond and then have him disappear for 3 years? i mena, it happens anyhow... but still...

is Faraday's Journal the reason that Widmore is such a dick to Desmond? hmmm??

memphish said...

I'm loaning out my LOST S1 DVDs. I feel like someone cut off a limb.

For anyone going to ComicCon, ask Damon and Carlton if that Desmond seeing Claire and Turniphead on the helicopter thing is still in play or if it has gone the way of LOST's broken promises. Rewatching Greatest Hits started making me wonder if we've watched pieces of at least 2 time loops. I'm not sure I want that to be the case, but at least it would explain the whole Charlie swimming or not and Claire on the helicopter thing.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

i think last year at CC, they said that the helicopter thing was still in play.

and is our "Charlie can't swim" stuff just from when Boone is drowning trying to save the drowning rando (Driftwood Carrying Girl?) from the sea?

i think he just says "i don't swim" when Jack looks at him for not helping. which may translate to "i'm a chicken shit and am afraid of trying to save her" or "i just ate some of my eating heroin."

memphish said...

I've never liked that heroin explanation. I remember them saying in the past that Desmond's vision was still in play, I'm just wondering if it still is or if it will go the way of the Comic Con video from last year, not to mention the army. Can anyone else think of someone for it to work without a time loop or time reset though?

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

helicopter hasn't happened yet? desmond is a lying liar who lied to get back with penny at the expense of charlie's life? maybe... they... uh... changed the future?

maybe the x files fought the future?

i'm hoping that Aaron and Claire both end up on the island and get airlifted off cuz i'm totally with you that it'd be annoying as all get out if they "forgot" about that.

p.s. diego reyes is the helicopter pilot who saves claire and aaron!!!!!!

memphish said...

I like that P.S. That will totally happen I bet.
