oh. one thing about the timeline that i guess i knew but never really thought much about.
Ben runs into Desmond at the Lamp Post. then gets his ass kicked by him the next morning. for three years, he never runs into the dude on Island. all of a sudden, he runs into twice in 24 hours and gets his ass kicked by him.
Morgan and I watched an old Bones instead. My kid- "Mom, I never know what you're watching because you watch three shows with that same guy." Yeah, I'm like obsessed with David Boreanaz these days.
I watched an hour late so I could fast forward. The most important thing I learned -- Widmore faked the 815 wreckage was CONFIRMED, assuming the clip show is in any way, shape or form canon.
The other thing that stood out to me was Richard telling Locke he had to bring the O6 back in order to save those left behind. Tomorrow I'm going to go back and look at transcripts for those Locke/Richard encounters during the flashes and also what Christian told Locke. There's a bit of a chicken/egg problem with Locke telling Richard telling Locke and he may be completely wrong or Richard could be lying to get Locke to leave after all the flashes stopped but thankfully not before Charlotte died but in time to save the rest or it could be the case that their lives will be saved in the next 4 hours.
Also Ilana appears to be a damn good liar when she tells Sayid about answering for Avellino because I think that's merely a cover. And do bounty hunters get special passes to go through the metal detectors with people in handcuffs or is she law enforcement. Maybe she's Sheriff Isabelle's replacement.
YES Richard is lying because he's the main villain.
A life of spydom.
Why don't we know a single thing about him? Villain.
I'm not 100% sure on this hell nobody could be but seriously when we find out who the leader of the opposing party in the war is we HAVE to be shocked. There's no way inhell it could be just some new character or some minor character. It hasto be big shit. Jacob/Richard tandem.
Another reason I believe this is that Richard said to Sawyer that whenever he healed Ben he would never be the same....he will always be one of us. And how did he turn out? EVIL.
- i watched some of it. I saw the part where they confirmed that Widmore faked the plane crash, then i saw the inside of my eyelids for 40 minutes or so and then i saw the Unusuals.
Richard told me I had to die to bring them all back..
Widmore- I don't know why the hell he would say that..
He said it because he has been turned. (Sayid to Jack in the Season 2 finale about michael) I think he has been turned...I don't know if...He has been turned..
Maybe the island is a great place but it can also turn innocent/good people into evil people.
phish, when did they confirm CW was behind the crash? The episode was on in the background while I was working on my laptop so I wasn't really paying attention. I dvred it though. It was pretty bad so I don't really want to go back and watch it. Do you remember around when it was?
Kelvin had to join DI some time after 1991 given when he meets Sayid in Iraq, but we don't know when exactly. People also think that the Purge occurred in 1992 because of Ghost Horace saying he'd been dead 12 years when Locke dreamed about him. But neither of those things have been officially pinpointed. Neither exist on ABC.com's new handy dandy timeline.
Whatch the last episode of HEROES as a LOST fan. There is at least 6, will make that 8, for good measure. LOST refferences(sp). Bloody noses, conversation about being LOST,opening scene on Eye,theres more but I've had a few beers(need somthing to watch that crappy show)to help forget the res it was BAD..
Last I saw of Heroes they dug up some bodies that were the result of some purge at a military-style barracks and then had a character's flashback to these barracks and the unusual experiments that were going on around them.
I don't see Heroes exactly being all about mommy issues the same way LOST is with the daddy issues. In Heroes, everybody has issues with everybody in their family. In Lost, everyone loves their mother and either hates, or has killed, their father. And as for Heroes stealing from Lost. Maybe, I guess. But I haven't exactly noticed a ton of things straight lifted. Maybe some storytelling similarities. But that can be said for a lot of shows in the same genre. If anything, Heroes straight up steals it's stories from comic books (which yeah, duh). I didn't know it at the time as, as I hadn't read the book yet. But they basically straight up took the whole end of Watchmen and made it the goal for the main villians in season 1 (or was it 2? can't recall). And countless other things that I have been told by friends who are much bigger comic book aficionados than I. And Palmer is right about King. Fuller needs to stage a coup.
I think I wasn't too clear. the storyline in Heroes wasn't that much like LOST, I just used minor portions of the story for what I hoped was comic effect, especially for any who saw both.
Can I ask everyone a favour? My best friend is trying to get some results for a questionnaire and needs some people to do it. It's not that long and would proper help her loads.

I'm sure a writer would come up with something like it not taking affect til a certain age. That way your character isn't an eternal new-born.
But like Andrew said, it would be very interesting. Just think of it. A baby with the brain of a 2,000 year old. Yeah, he wouldn't have much physical strength. But he would have more knowledge than anyone alive.
Anybody have the phone number of any studios? I think I have a movie to pitch. At worst it could be a show on Fox. Or if I make the eternal genius baby a forensic scientist, CBS!

Besides our beloved LOST, I sum up my thoughts with the following.
SIGH.
Remember my post from yesterday about the impending network apocalypse? It's coming.
The only thing on that list I watch is LOST. I used to watch Ugly Betty, but I gave up on 5 or 6 episodes ago. I still listen to the podcast with Michael Urie and Becky Newton though. They play Mark and Amanda and are quite amusing on the podcast.
I wish ABC would renew Better Off Ted. While far from perfect it has potential. I've watched 3 episodes of The Unusuals and it's okay, but I wouldn't really miss it if it went away.
I have opinions on Rome and The Tudors. Just it's that I've never watched a moment of either. So they ain't worth much really. lol. I want to watch Rome at some point. It's pretty good from what I hear. The Tudors looks a bit too soapy for my taste. But I know a few chicks who seem to love it, so...
Glad you enjoyed our gush-fest Andrew. You already have good taste in tv, so you don't need much. But I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who needs some help picking out some good series to check out. Not to toot our own horns, but Steph and I have pretty good taste. ;)
And yeah Andrew, check out FNL for sure. It's a dang good show. And going to be around for two more seasons! Just don't take some of the more over the top story lines in season 2 too seriously. Luckily things were cut short that year due to the writers strike. And when they came back in season 3, they seemed to have learned their lesson.
Just caught up and watched the 6 eps of Better Off Ted. And now I'm annoyed it wasn't on that list of ABC renewals. The first couple eps were just kinda whatever. But starting with the 4th ep and on it's starting to get a lot better. The episode where the new motion detectors couldn't recognize black people was pretty hilarious. Hopefully they bring it back.
We do have good taste. I don't watch anything else on ABC except Castle. Which the show isn't anything out of the ordinary but should be a big hit with the general demographic that watched that network. Hopefully it will get renewed for Nathan Fillion's sake.
- Band Of Brothers was really, really good. I've never been a fan of the promo department for LOST. They could be having a really fun time with that show but they turn out generic dreck at every opportunity.
I never thought he was gay before. ("not that there's anything wrong with that") But if I were his PR person and the message we wanted to get across was "not gay", I wouldn't want these quotes being the big headline.
"I'd be happy to go and deny it, because I'm not. But by denying it, Im saying there is something shameful about it, and there isnt anything shameful."
"The questions about sexuality I find more here in America than anywhere else, because its a big hang-up and defines what people think about themselves and others. Its not a big issue in Australia."
Not saying he just couldn't just honestly think these things (or that he isn't looking out for his Tony Award fans). But that stuff just comes off weird. Also gotta love the pompous, "I come from a land (down under) that is so much more evolved than you petty Americans." People love that. lol.
Oh, and also love the self-congratulatory comments about how amazing he and his "wife" are for adopting mutiracial children. "Our lawyer told us not to do it, but I just had to. Because most people aren't as amazing as I am."
The other thing that stood out to me. Supposedly he's been married for 13 years. If that's the case and it's more than just for appearances. Wouldn't someone in that situation not feel the need to go on and on about how he is not gay and how there is nothing wrong with it?
Thanks Hugh. I never thought Wolverine was gay before. Way to go mate.
my friend's 60-something year old mother will be relieved to know she still has a shot with him.No shit. That's the entire demographic that saw Australia including both by mother and mother-in-law.
- Hugh's just a little mad that Wolverine is going to kill his action star chances (and at absolutely no fault of his own, he showed up and gave it his all)
yes. who would question that about a good looking, well-dressed, well-groomed, extremely physically fit, musical loving, dancing, singing, Tony award winning actor married to an older woman with whom he has adopted children?
that said, he's probably straight. and he seems like a really nice guy. but i can definitely see where he'd flag someone's gaydar.
might just be wishful thinking by the gay community though. or sour grapes by straight guys who aren't nearly as good looking.
Has any of the comic book geeks read Mark Millar's "Kick-Ass"? It's quite good. Reason I mention it is it's about this young kid who decides to become a superhero. At first he becomes a hit on the internet after a youtube video of beating up some bad guys gets out. Anyway, at a certain point he quits. And then a new superhero becomes the latest fad. And then comes the classic line:
"Six weeks ago I was Heroes season one. Now as far as the net was concerned, I was season fucking two."
- Looks like Desmond caught the get-me-the-hell-off-of-this-island fever. ABC... er... the black smoke could be demanding that he repent soon. or maybe that grocery bag wasn't as bullet proof as we all thought.
- wow, the comments are really terrible.
- ha ha, i just caught up on The Office & 30 Rock and the promo department for NBC kept saying that Southland was "The ER of cop shows". I do not expect to see that show next season.
So...Faraday goes back to Ann Arbor in 1977 and writes his notebook (knowing everything he knows in 1977) and leaves it for his mom to give to him after he is actually born?
maybe he takes a look at the notebook but thinks it's a load of bull until... they recover the fake 815 and he breaks down crying in front of the TV. or maybe he's just a weirdo and that's why he did that.
- i also really like that Daniel Faraday theory. It sets up a weird time paradox with him having the notebook without ever writing it, but they already did that with Locke's compass so it seems legal in the LOST universe
- The official LOST podcasts for this week are harmless, spoiler-free. They ask Evangeline about the love triangle, which is mildly sexist.
- There's some sort of animated GI Joe movie on tonight: GI Joe: Resolute that i'm willing to bet will be a billion times better than the live-action movie coming out. It's written by a really good comic writer, Warren Ellis (Authority, Planetary, Astonishing X-Men, Fell...) It's on the Cartoon Network. Aint-It-Cool reported it was supposed to air last night, but my DVR told me differently. They're probably running it a bunch.
Since we're talking about paradoxies. How about the fact that Locke would of never thought he was subbose to be the leader of the Others if he never told Richard that he was the leader in the 50s. If Locke never spoke to Richard in the 50s, Richard would of never visit his at birth and all those other times and quite frankly wouldn't of gave a fuck about him. Then Abaddon would of never told him about the walkabout because Widmore wouldn't give two shits about him either. Locke's gimp ass would of never been on that plane and probably would cried his sorry behind back into Helen's arms or got arrested for stalking phone sex operators.

I'm taping it--I think I'm going to ffwd through it
i watched it. it was... ok.
made me notice a few things about the timeline.
and... MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL...
claire's mom did not have a mole removed. she had THREE MOLES removed. which was prolly a good move cuz she looks pretty good for being a grandma.
also, kate really needs to straighten her hair on the Island.

I've not watched it yet... but i shall when i can be arsed.
I have watched this week's scrubs though. I was in shock because it was actually really funny. I laughed numerous times. The best one in years.
it ends up that michael jackson is a weird dude. huh.
YES Richard is lying because he's the main villain.

and it was the very beginning when they confirmed CW staged the crash

When did Kelvin Inman join DHARMA?
When was the Purge?
If he joined AFTER the Purge, then was the DHARMA Help Wanted Ad that he answered placed by a still functioning DHARMA? By Bram and his homeboys???

do we know when Widdy gets kicked off the Island? or how old Alex was on the swing then?
we could use that to figure out stuff like that.
Alex was 16ish in 2004. So... 4ish in 1992.
Think they Purged (almost) everyone in '92 and then almost immediately kicked Widdy to the curb?

"Dead is dead."
that was (yet another) similarity that i noticed.
Listen to Jordan gush on and on about the greatest television show ever made here.
Dead is Dead..why do they try?
Palmer did you shake your head the WHOLE episode as I?
pretty much. how do we get Kring out of that show and put Fuller in charge?
Last I saw of Heroes they dug up some bodies that were the result of some purge at a military-style barracks and then had a character's flashback to these barracks and the unusual experiments that were going on around them.
Where do they get their ideas from?
at least they didnt have an asian doctor in a labcoat welcoming everyone to the facility.
oh.

Eww, creepy. I will not be able to look at Desmond the same way again.
Without starting to guess whether this is true or not, the comments on that story are utterly appalling.
Who's betting that Aimee is jealous of that woman?
yeah. really hoping that the lady's just making it up. although, that'd be pretty awful of her to do.
but i really hate to think that Henry Ian Cusick would do that kind of stuff.
Too many hospital / police shows on tv.
DO NOT WANT
So...Faraday goes back to Ann Arbor in 1977 and writes his notebook (knowing everything he knows in 1977) and leaves it for his mom to give to him after he is actually born?
Holder, that is a fantastic theory!
maybe he takes a look at the notebook but thinks it's a load of bull until... they recover the fake 815 and he breaks down crying in front of the TV. or maybe he's just a weirdo and that's why he did that.
but the notebook theory is awesome!
loaded the dishwasher. went back and pointed all the knives down just in case sayid was around.
anyone else seen "Deadliest Warrior" yet? this show is hilarious. seen two episodes so far: Viking versus Samurai and Spartan versus Ninja
good stuff.
