DarkUFO is reporting April 22nd is the next no episode week. It says there will be a clip show. Gee, can't wait.
Holli
ralph-, don't tease us by letting us know you even considered starting the show up again.
My download is complete. Will make an exception this time and allow to seed.
Funny. Scott and Steve complaining about an "excruciatingly long 5 week hiatus".
Ralph, you, Ben and Ryan should call the Dharmaline and give a kneejerk or some story about rat balls and keep that going. I also miss hearing Dre.
Holli
I don't know if this was on another thread or not but I just needed to comment on that call about the snake and the rat at the end of the Dharmalars Listener Line show. RALPH THAT WAS DISGUSTING!!
I seriously am not going to be able to eat now for at least an hour until I forget about rat balls splattering all over the sides of cages. Shudders.
And PS Ralph, you're worse at saying goodbye than Cher and Barbara Streisand combined...
I don't know if this was on another thread or not but I just needed to comment on Colleen mentioning Barbra Streisand and Cher. COLLEEN THEY ARE DISGUSTING!!
Good Mac stuff this week, MB.
Free Geronimo Jackson download on iTunes? Heck I'll have a go for free.
What's that? Oh - I live in The Rest of the World so I can't. Never mind, then. Is it any good? I'd be amazed if it sounds authentically '70s.
Chris, check your Codex Machine email for a surprise.
Holli
Ooh, cheers. Let's have a go and see if it's rubbish.
what's the verdict?
It's inoffensive country themed rock. Production's pretty clever and all but overall you'll be glad you weren't charged for it.
Actually, it's fairly nice if nothing totally excellent - thanks Holli!
Not sure about the slapback effect on the voice though -- bit more 50s/60s than 70s to my ears, but hey.
Actually - it turns out that it's "borrowed" from a band called The Donkeys who do authentically retro US country rock
The Donkeys - Excelsior Lady
Note that they don't use slapback reverb on this vocal and therefore it sounds more appropriate for the time.
theyre not bad. listening to Into a Pale right now.
Thanks Chris!
Haven't listened to the aforementioned rat balls story. A little reluctant now after Colleen's reaction, but I THINK my curiousity will win out over my trepidation :/
Blech.
Finished listening. ugh.
anyone else use to watch Darby O'Gill and The Little People around St Patrick's Day?
that movie was frickin' scary when i was five.
Darby v. the DEATH COACH
Ralph, You are such a cock tease.
Reminder to join the Scott & Steve NCAA Tourney Contest. Don't miss out on the fun y'all.

Oh no, not NCAA again. I came here to talk about shitty British Sci-Fi.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, SaSsers!
happy st. patrick's day to the lovely Kim in O'Ronto, Canada
/ay and begorra!
//shillelagh!
another movie featuring Ireland in honor of St Patrick's Day:
Christopher Walken in... The Eternal
anyone else had the misfortune of watching that?
Kablamo!

After all this time, when is MB gonna get his own logo? I think he is definitely deserving of one.
Sorry Brit buddies, March Madness is kinda a big deal here. So suck it. (What's the UK equivilant of suck it btw? Toss it? Wank it? Slag it?)
Anybody planning on going out tonight and celebrating the holiday nobody cares about besides the fact that it involves drinking? St. Patricks Day, Cinco de Mayo, Secretaries Day. We'll take all the world's holidays, so as long as they are centered around drinking to excess.
Just thought it was an amusing counterpoint to the complaint about Red Dwarf talk on the other thread, is all.
- haven't seen The Eternal, but i have seen Raw Head Rex more times than i care to remember, on Betamax.
- is St. Patrick's Day month over at midnight then?
I'm not going out drinking tonight as I'm not Irish, nor am I shallow enough to pretend I am just as an excuse to chuck some back.
TRIPLE POST.
i may go to my folk's house to get free corned beef.
also, i believe britisher for "suck it" is "suck it, gov'nah."
just as americaner for "suck it" is "suck it, terr'rist!" and canadian for "suck it" is "suck it, eh."
andrew, is that on Netflix yet?
huh, apparently not. Someone posted the whole thing on youtube in multiple parts though. Raw Head Rex, the monster that can't turn its head.
We did our mini-St. Patty's Day, corned beef and cabbage cooked in Harp's, last night because Hubby's getting taken out to dinner tonight. I'll lift a beer later, but it's a Belgian ale. Sorry Irish.
Holli
Gawd, when is basketball going to be over? Supernatural better not be preempted again this week.
I'm sorry I have no special St Patrick's Day flick to share.
But I did see Bai Ling on Angel a while ago.
St. Patricks day and how it's observed is funny. People just want an excuse to drink. Much like Halloween is not celebrated as a tribute to spirits and demons, as much as it is an excuse for people to dress up in slutty costumes and act like fools. It's my theory that people repress the more outrageous sides of themselves when they reach certain ages. Everyone likes to consider themselves "mature". But I don't think that crazy teenager of yesteryear ever truly goes away. These civil "adults" need to release their inner drunk or whore every now and again. So they've come up with these holidays as their excuses to do so.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, mind you. I have absolutely no problem with people having a good ol' drunk time, or if women feel the need to dress up as slutty as possible. Just commenting on how it's funny how people need an excuse to indulge their desire to be crazy.
did somebody say slutty?
ew!!! somebody said Bai Ling!! aaaaaaack!
Steph, I think you should be alright. Even though Supernatural is on Thursday night, and Thursday is the first day of the NCAA tournament with 16 games. I'm fairly certain all the games are on CBS. I take it your local CW affiliate aired local games, thus the problem in the past. But now with it all on a national level, I'm pretty sure it's all strictly CBS from here on out. Your date with the hunky brothers should be good to go.
These civil "adults" need to release their inner drunk or whore every now and again.
I didn't realise that being a drunks and whore were mutually exclusive.
After all this time, when is MB gonna get his own logo? I think he is definitely deserving of one.
LAME PHOTOSHOP SKILLS TO THE RESCUE
Oh yeah!
hehe - I suppose I SHOULD design a new spoiler logo, instead of just typing over an excellent looking TLI logo like I did.
That's not bad Herlihy :)
I like the alternate colors.
DOH!!!!
LATE-BLAMMO
for the 2nd thread in a row :(
Nice Ryan. I like it.
Who said drunks and whores were mutually exclusive? I was talking about two seperate topics (st patricks day and halloween). Try reading my posts without rushing to find something to take offense to every once in a while. Honestly. I have no problem with joking around. I'm a giant goofball. But you're always starting stuff out of nothing other than mis-reading my posts or point. Kind of takes away from the fun of kidding around on a mostly comical blog. And please. Feel no need to respond to this. I'm sure people are getting annoyed already.
Halloween outfit for Palmer.
It's not bad... but it's not good is it?
Meh, it just wasted some time. I really don't know how to do photoshop well enough.
I do think you should use the same logo but with different colours and text obviously. Also, Jimmy's should follow suit. They you have the triumvirate of The Lost Initiative, different shows, but all part of the same umbrella. The logos should show some sort of semblence to each other.
Sorry jordan. :(
I wasn't starting anything though... I did read your post though. You just made it seem like some people were drunks and some were whores, and never the twain shall meet. Like you couldn't be a drunken whore. I honestly wasn't trolling about. I was making a feeble attempt at humour....
No actually I like it a lot Ryan - I may just adjust the lettering below a tiny bit and use a font that I have here at the office. I also want to check with Kim and Aimee and make sure I'm not stepping on the toes of the designer (who escapes my memory at the moment).
Fine. It would be hypocritical of me to get annoyed at you making a big to do about things I say in a throw away manner or sarcastically, and then not admit it could be the same way around. Still though, you've nitpicked enough of my comments in the past to put me on the defensive. To get crap from you and Chris about an offhand joke about Red Dwarf was kinda annoying, I have to be honest. Fuck, I'll just stop. From now on, I will follow up all sarcastic comments with a big (SARCASM!) for the Brits, as we obviously are having a hard time relating with the language barrier and all.
Not as good as Ryan's. But here is my submission for the MB logo contest.
http://i39.tinypic.com/1et8yc.jpg
haha. I was joking about that as well...
I think we both suffer from a lack of detection of sarcasm in a textual medium. I'm hardly ever serious on here, come to think of it, I've only been serious once, way back in May last year. I've a very flippant person, I don't take offence at anything really. So don't worry, I don't take offence at anything you say, I'd kinda hope that that would be reciprocated.
I'm gonna repost the link to the Bacon suit in another effort to lighten the mood/change the topic.
Loving the spoiler logo Jordan.
Also, MB, tweek it as much as you like! I know very little about photoshop, i don't know how to do text on there, so i ended up copying it from mspaint. hence the randomness of the placing.
That baconsuit is weird! It looks like a bizarre off colour zebra print!
LMFAO Jordan :D
And I'm sorry too. I shall make an effort not to mention things like Doctor Who unless they relate to LOST.
Hey, you know in Resurrection of the Daleks from 1984 the Doctor lands the TARDIS at Butler's Wharf in London - that's the same place Sun meets Charles Widmore in LOST!
Chris, mention ANYTHING you want on here! I was totally joking about Red Dwarf and Doc Who. Well, sorta. I'm not a fan, and it all sounds like Greek to me (being half Greek, I really should learn). But lots of you guys like those shows. So feel free to talk about them! I was just goofing around saying that I was excited to see a bunch of new posts, but none of them made any sense to me.
Freedom of Blog is a right every poster here has. If someone wants to talk about Rock of Love Bus, they should be allowed to do so. :P
I was kidding too - although I have tried to curtail things (particularly Who Chat) on here when it gets too involved.
I tell you - I was actually just looking for an excuse to post that Butler's Wharf fact. I've tried to find a place for it for months now and it just seemed to present itself in a way that amused me.
It's true, too - they've cleaned it up and stuck some restaurants on it in the intervening 20 years, but it's still the same place.
Charles Widmore is doing some zombie fighting on british tv too.
Part of this innovative thing on british tv... Not often you get to mention innovative and british tv in the same sentence.
Nice WhoFact Chris! Wish I owned Resurrection of the Daleks....
/begins Amazon search in separate window
Has there ever been a Doctor Who/Red Dwarf cross-over episode? If Everybody Loves Raymond was able to meet The King of Queens, you think Doctor Who could meet up with... uh... those guys on Red Dwarf.
There has not been a crossover. I'm trying to think if there's been much in the way of actors from either appearing in the other. Drawing a bit of a blank.
Red Dwarf surprisingly has more actorly connection with Star Wars via Hugh Quarshie and Don Henderson.
Fuck me, I'm dull.
Actually: Don Warrington was parallel Earth president in The Age of Steel and he was also a pompous hologram in Red Dwarf.
And with that, I kill myself.
Goodbye, world!
how many Flight of the Conchords episodes have a i missed since the episode with Christian Shephard's daughter on 24?
ah, i saw the epileptic dog episode. then... three ones i haven't seen?
I have no idea who that person is, p. Did you see the one with Lucy Lawless? That one was last week.
lucy lawless?! she is AWESOME. amazing in person. this coming from someone who was dismissively laughing off the fact that he was going to sit through her panel to see another panel at Comic Con.
she is amazingly charismatic and hilarious in person. i dont like the character of Xena but Lucy is alright with me. she's fantastic.
and she was great on BSG.
no idea why he went on a Lucy Lawless is great tangent. but she is.
On FOTC I didn't recognize her until the very end. She's very made down. Watch her on BSG: The Last Frakkin Special and tell me if she's kidding or not, p.
Only one new FOTC ep left. Sigh.
oh yeah. gotta watch that sometime, steph.
jordan, i'm halfway through the episode with Chloe from 24.
So you got 2 more eps (New Zealand Town & Wingmen) plus the finale that airs this coming Sunday.
- the freighter doctor with the unsightly neck wound is in a new commercial performing Skittle-fueled, organ transplants. LOST just doesn't seem to have the star-turning power we expected.
We were all trying to make sense of the new SyFy name the other day. Here is tv critic Allen Sepinwall's take.
I was so busy making preparations yesterday to go to the "Galactica" screening and the Sci Fi Channel upfront that followed that I never had a chance to weigh in on the channel's plans to rebrand itself as SyFy (see new logo above). The explanations I've heard from Sci Fi and NBC/Universal people range from their wanting to bring in people outside the core fanboy/fangirl audience, to the fact that Sci Fi is a name that can't be trademarked. But the new name seems both silly and too similar to the original (it's supposed to be pronounced the same, though the critics at the "BSG" screening were calling it "See-Fee," or "Sigh-Fee," or "Syeh-fay") to really bring in anyone who's currently skeptical about wanting to watch "Eureka." And the whole move smacks of the approach TV sports coverage takes, where they assume the real sports fans will watch no matter what you do to them, and therefore gear their coverage to bring in non-fans. I hate any strategy that takes the core audience for granted, but this isn't the first time it'll be tried, nor the last.
