Anyway, Terry O'Locke, if I was a keener I could edit and post the podcast the same night--but I don't usually when Aimee and I record, I post it a couple of days later. It's just what happens. I don't think the podcast would be very interesting with 30 extra minutes od "dead air". I go through it, and try to keep it interesting for the listeners. Before, Aimee and I had the worst audio problems witholder versions of Skype. Who wants to listen to a podcast of "Hello. Still there? Can you hear me now?". LOL. I think I have it figured out now.
Btw, it was awesome to see everyone in the chatroom. I did get sidetracked reading your msgs...I tuned out when Aimee was talking once :p. Is that bad? Hahaha
i was doing everything in my power to be as obnoxious as i could, just to get a rise out of you, but you were doing a good job at not paying attention to my childish antics.
To continue the editing talk, those few episodes of Cue the Film (sorry again, Ralph, but I had nothing to do with that title) that I produced, I edited the fuck out of those. they were mini masterpieces by the time I finished and I really enjoyed pulling out edit tricks during the process*, but my word did it take a long time.
*more than once I've tidied up sentences by splitting mid-word and joining it to another use of that word later.
That same obnoxiousness was what made me question the integrity of "Ralph" yesterday. Oh, also (I was asleep by the time you said this) - you don't need to create a sign-in for UStream, in the chat just type, say:
I hate that I didn't get into the chat until after the episode was over. It looked like there were a lot people there last night. Jordan, Chris, Andrew, I think I saw Herlihy and Trevor. Even a special guest appearance of Ralph.
I'll join the chorus that's impressed with the editing job. Kim, it really sounds smooth, I never would have thought how relaxed and casual you are when you record. At least up until that abrupt ending. :)
Looking forward to hearing the podcast. And while I missed watching the recording, I was busy enjoying some awesome gnocchi, so once I get the podcast it will be truly win, win for me.
I was going back through some old posts and saw this and lots of you guys were right there from the beginning, I really missed out on some big fun.
I'm impressed that The Lars, Kim Aimee,MB and Jimmy came in and continued the blogspot, the podcasts, all of it. Just from an idea some super creative guys had about a tv show. Crazy...
and I don't even know where the Kablamo! got started but that is also a funny tradition.
I forget who started the Kablamo! posts too. I have a feeling it was Ralph or Palmer. I think we used only "Kablamo" the 108th post of a thread, because we rarely got to 108 back in the day. Then we started to do it for "The numbers", 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42...and of course someone started to Kablamo #69.
Actually, I think that was Palmer's doing :P....jk
Thanks for reading my email ladies! Long time listener. Have always loved TLI. So happy we still have you guys to fill the massive void of the Dharmalars. I want to echo the thoughts of everyone here. Kim does an amazing job editing. I was so shocked to hear how casual they are when they record. really makes the smooth, crisp podcast that much more impressive. Yall will never hear me complain about when its posted.
i find it weird when watching on ustream because it's not go the little jingles and stuff and it's a bit casual. it makes you realise how wonderful kim is.
i was just making little song clips for the girlfriend's new cell phone. we were converting and loading song clips via BitPim and decided to get a clip of Mama Cass' Make Your Own Kind of Music.
so, we wait til a good spot in the song (the chorus towards the end) and position the clip to start there. it's at one minute and forty eight seconds. which in the program, since it uses seconds only, was 108 seconds. aaaaaah!!!
slightly less creepy was that we took 19 second clip. 4 + 15 = 19. THE NUMBERS ARE BAD! THE NUMBERS ARE BAD!!!
also, the duck tales theme song makes an awesome ringtone. and so does the perfect strangers theme.
for Unknown Callers? the chorus of Rick Springfield's "Dont Talk to Strangers." good times.
have any ridiculous ring tones? lost related ones?
also, kim has impressed me ever since her LOST Diaries. despite her use of Cher music... but other than that, good at the mic and good at editing. also, it's AWESOME that she flies around in a helicopter all day. very cool.
I was watching an ep of Friday Night Lights, and a character was staying at a motel. And the room #? 108!!! And bad things happened in that room and to that character! YES! The numbers ARE indeed very bad!!!
I can't watch FNL. I feel like if I watch any other currently running show then I am stabbing Lost in the back. The only thing I watch besides LOST and sports is shows like King of Queens, Seinfeld, Andy Griffith Show, stuff like that. FNL is a little too much like American Idol anyway.
I gotta 100% disagree TerryOLocke. I think FNL, especially Season 1 is an awesome human drama that just happens to take place around a small town football team. I didn't love Season 2, but Season 3 has been very solid even if it doesn't knock my socks off like Season 1 did. It's got good stories of how married couples interact, how they deal with their kids, how kids deal with their parents and with each other while not succumbing to the overly cliched high school personality types like some Texas version of 90210 or Gossip Girl. I don't think it's anything at all like AI, which I despise like the Bubonic Plague.
I also despise AI like the Bubonic Plague. I've been against the tv show because the movie was so damn good and special to me. Sounds like a decent show but even if my criticism is unjustified I am loyal to one show. Period.
Yeah, Friday Night Lights is one of the best shows out there, even if they do weirdly and blatantly plug Applebee's. But, maybe thats what makes it more real. And American Idol is the trouf. I really dislike the Adam kid with the black hair and fingernails. The girl who sang Alone was really awkward...glad she got through, she was good.
Gotta join the people defending FNL. It's a very good drama. The first season was great. 2nd, not as much. But luckily it ended early thanks to the writers strike. The 3rd season was much better.
Alirio, I was thinking about you today--when I ordered Poutine. It was disgusting, and made me wish I was in Montreal.
FNL - I really like the show. I love how it's filmed, I like (most of) the characters, and I wished it had better ratings. The TV show and the movie are too different to compare. They have the main theme of high school football, yes, but the characters/story archs are different. Surprising the best part of the movie for me was the father/son relationship between Tim McGraw character and Garrett Hudlind (is that his name?). I can't say if the TV show is better than the movie--it's been too long. If I could take out the Tyra/Landry murder plot line, I would say it's an excellent show--rather than a good show.
"Today, I took the subway to school and the man across from me would not stop staring at my breasts. Finally the train came to my stop, so as I got up I said "Nothing to see now, asshole", but then I noticed his white walking stick as he got up to get off too. He was blind. FML"
FML looks like a slightly more amusing version of Secret Tweet where people can Twitter anonymously which I thought would be a laugh but does go super dark. The one that I remember all too clearly was
"When my son was born disabled, I wished that he would die. 4 weeks later he did. I am so fucking selfish."
Which is a real offset to Secret Tweet's usual confessions of people having affairs and saying how excellent they are.
Whats the difference between the Transmission and the Enhanced Transmission? Aren't they exactly the same? whats the point in putting out 2 shows that are the same ?
One is an AAC file so has pictures, but the biggest addition is chapter breaks, so if you don't want to hear You All Everybody, or The Forward Cabin you can just click ahead on a compatible player.
Yeah, I've always wondered...the Transmission is 3rd and 4th in Lost podcasts, so combined they must have more than Jay and Jack and maybe even the Official Lost Podcast, right? Is there a way to see how many people are downloading podcasts weekly? Just something I'm curious about.

I hope everyone goes back and reads the last 2 posts of thr previous threads over and over...and over again :P

Seriously, you need toothpicks for fingers when typing on a Blackberry!
(Or not be slightly buzzed)
Goodnight blogspot!
i was doing everything in my power to be as obnoxious as i could, just to get a rise out of you, but you were doing a good job at not paying attention to my childish antics.
I would MUCH rather listen to you and Aimee having dead air than I would hear gspn talk about LOST.

Good times.
SEXY times, and a double utterance of the phrase "I know I am".
Oh by the way, Ralph, JINX!
I was at work last night where there is no adobe flash. So sorry I missed the show.:(
I'll join the chorus that's impressed with the editing job. Kim, it really sounds smooth, I never would have thought how relaxed and casual you are when you record. At least up until that abrupt ending. :)

Kim does an awesome job editing!
I hate that I missed the memo.
Holli, Thanks soo much for the classic SAS! F'in genius!
I now understand what brought this rag,tag group of folks together.
Digital Attitude!!!
LOL. Digital Attitude!!!! That's a blast from the past. I think some dude even had it engraved on his iPod :)
I was going back through some old posts and saw this and lots of you guys were right there from the beginning, I really missed out on some big fun.

Kim promised to get her boobs out on Ustream next week.
I just thought i'd let everyone else know, so that she can't back out...again.
I forget who started the Kablamo! posts too. I have a feeling it was Ralph or Palmer. I think we used only "Kablamo" the 108th post of a thread, because we rarely got to 108 back in the day. ralph was kablamo-ing back in the SAS days. not sure if it was on the numbers or not though.
also, wasnt he photoshopping Damon and Carlton getting married or at prom or something? creepy picture. i remember that much.
and was it jimmy who called in doing an impression of his Australian ex-girlfriend?
good times.
Nice reminiscing people! :)
I've always loved Aimee's SAS tribute - calling out Craig, Dylan, Ryan, Ralph and Ben from when MYOKOMwSAS was fading.
Aimee can correct me - but I think this was the beginning of the impetus that brought us the phenom that is TLI. Excellent.
Thanks for reading my email ladies!

I saw Kim's tweet about the Ustream last night, but I was enjoying my almost-finished new basement floor.
I'm finding Sienfeld reruns don't age well. Where are my Arrested Development DVD's???
i find it weird when watching on ustream because it's not go the little jingles and stuff and it's a bit casual. it makes you realise how wonderful kim is.
even if she does deny boob shots.
i was just making little song clips for the girlfriend's new cell phone. we were converting and loading song clips via BitPim and decided to get a clip of Mama Cass' Make Your Own Kind of Music.

i think Aimee does a great job too. setting Kim up for all sorts of TWSSs and always having funny stories or observations.
they've got good chemistry too.
thanks for the great work, ladies. thadies!!!
yeah, aimee does some badass(badarse?) research for the episode.
She had multiple pages of notes that had been typed out for the latest episode. now that's dedication!
I was watching an ep of Friday Night Lights, and a character was staying at a motel. And the room #? 108!!! And bad things happened in that room and to that character! YES! The numbers ARE indeed very bad!!!

Too much like AI?
I haven't watched FNL yet - but is there something I missed? I thought it was a scripted drama.
Too much like AI in the sense that it's too much of a pop culture annoying preppy show.
I gotta 100% disagree TerryOLocke. I think FNL, especially Season 1 is an awesome human drama that just happens to take place around a small town football team. Chris, i created a sign in, which means i now have the option of joining in, if asked. : )
We should all create sign ins, in case the TLI ever needs additional contributions. Especially hot, sexy male contributions.
Wow - there was exactly 12 hours between those two posts!
"also, wasnt he photoshopping Damon and Carlton getting married or at prom or something? creepy picture. i remember that much."
that prom picture is somewhere on this blog. It was mentioned on SAS which should let you know where it is.
Gotta join the people defending FNL. It's a very good drama. The first season was great. 2nd, not as much. But luckily it ended early thanks to the writers strike. The 3rd season was much better.
I heard that it is now Applebee's Presents Friday Night Lights.
FNL the movie has to be better than the show?
Commando is a better movie than Friday Night Lights
Gonna have to go ahead and assume you are joking Ralph (and I like Commando)
if you're not....
wha?!?!
KABLAMMO!
I haven't seen the movie. But the couple people I know who've seen both say that the show is better.
No movie is better that Commando, especially when it's on Quebec TV dubbed in French.
I had no idea Freddy Mercury was such a badass!
I don't really remember the movie either but the show is excellent. Seeing Coach and Tammy interact makes me want to give my husband a big smooch.
My new fabourite website is F*** My Life. People post why their life is so crap and stuff and other people like me can read laugh hard.
My favourite one is
"Today, we were fooling around and I was just about to orgasm when she looks at my clock and says "I have to go LOST is on in 20 minutes." FML"
Amazing. :')
Yeah, I totally meant to say "fabourite".
FML.
"Today, I took the subway to school and the man across from me would not stop staring at my breasts. Finally the train came to my stop, so as I got up I said "Nothing to see now, asshole", but then I noticed his white walking stick as he got up to get off too. He was blind. FML"
fantastic site!
"Gonna have to go ahead and assume you are joking Ralph"
"I never joke about my work, 007." - me
FML looks like a slightly more amusing version of Secret Tweet where people can Twitter anonymously which I thought would be a laugh but does go super dark. The one that I remember all too clearly was
"When my son was born disabled, I wished that he would die. 4 weeks later he did. I am so fucking selfish."
Which is a real offset to Secret Tweet's usual confessions of people having affairs and saying how excellent they are.
That's FML as in "F*** My Life", not a typo for FNL.
Whats the difference between the Transmission and the Enhanced Transmission? Aren't they exactly the same? whats the point in putting out 2 shows that are the same ?

Well, I believe Jay & Jack have two feeds (MP3 and AAC) as well, but am happy to be corrected.
Having a Tim Horton's coffee and thinking about Kim...
:-D
There's a great 24-hour Poutine restaurant in Montreal called Chez Claudette.
I'll take you there and treat you to a culinary experience words alone are incapable of describing.
now where's my TLI fix?!?!?
Didn't we just get finished with the Kim-takes-her-time-and-does-a-great-job-editing lovefest? How quickly we forget.
I'm still very new to the world of podcast editing. I have no clue what goes on behind the scenes I just enjoy the show.
New TLI everyone! (i.e. new thread)
