The 2:45 minute promo with Fray song is also available for free download at iTunes.

Hello LOST content!!!

It's like we're a community of Internet geeks who share a common interest in LOST or something...

WOW.

I proper think that promo is amazing.

Question though, what was that frame that popped up twice? i couldn't stop it at the right time... well annoying.

Well good promo though. gave me that rush of excitement.

60 days til LOST. eek.

I am thoroughly impressed that The Fray did a song that wasn't snatched up by NBC for a Scrubs promo.

Canada needs intelligence?

Gabby and Alirio said...

clearly we don't need as much intelligence in Canada as you do in the US, but we do have people trying to steal secrets and blow things up here too.

We need our Tim Hortons coffee shops protected, dammit!

My gf gets to be an interpreter on TV today. Very exciting! She'll be interpreting for RDI, a French-language CNN.

She's nervous but happy for the opportunity.

If you can, send her some positive vibes today and tomorrow.

The... Fray!?

Chris JC said...

Seriously, The fucking Fray?

The whole thing's like a bad YouTube fan vid. Lyric says "laying on the floor" = show someone laying down, lyric says "calling you" = show character on phone.

Good clips though.

Oh, and the new Guns n' Roses album? Absolutely appalling - don't spend your money out of curiosity. If you want to hear some older fellas rocking out a bit, there were new albums this year from Extreme, Metallica and AC/DC - all of which are better than this waste of time and money. I wish I'd bought a Dr Pepper instead.

PalmerEldritch said...

at least all this talk of Guns N Roses and Axl Rose reminded me of Stephanie Seymour.

also, i want some Dr Pepper.

Chris JC said...

I suggest you look at THIS while listening to THIS and drinking one of THESE.

May I bid you welcome to the jungle. If you look to the left you will see that we not only have fun, but also a variety of games.

- "Appetite For Destruction" really is a fantastic album. It's too bad that Guns N Roses blew up in that tour bus accident shortly after the album's release, never to release another piece of music or have temper tantrums on stage.

- Supernatural report: Finished season 2 episode 18 this morning. I wasn't feeling this season as much as the first, but there's been a really nice run of great episodes for the last 4 or so. Seems to happen whenever they ignore the big plot.

- Hoping to check out Synecdoche today. Suprisingly it's out in Pittsburgh already.

- 2 weeks until the LOST Season 4 DVDs hit North America. I'm looking forward to revisiting the freighties and zombie Claire.

- They should give away a free can of Tab whenever Duran Duran releases a new album.

I like the old school GnR but Chris has rendered a verdict that I suspected I would have.

I haven't bought it and don't plan to.

"In a move that may disrupt Hollywood's awards season for the second year in a row, the Screen Actors Guild will seek a strike authorization from its 120,000 members.
SAG made the announcement early Saturday that it would call for the vote after federal mediator Juan Carlos Gonzalez abandoned his monthlong efforts to broker a deal between the guild and the majors. SAG's negotiating committee voted 15-2 in agreement with Gonzalez's decision, which automatically triggered the move toward an authorization vote.

Chris JC said...

Followers of the debacle of the new Guns n' Roses album might be interested to know that the number of requests I have currently received for a copy of the album, no money down is this:

0

I was always more a fan of overtly Christian, Boston-based rock band Extreme anyway. Guns n' Roses first started work on Chinese Democracy around 1991, finally releasing it a few days ago in 2008, during which time all I can recall them bringing out is a covers album, a separate cover of Sympathy for the Devil for a soundtrack (possibly Interview with the Vampire), and a suff industrial-lite track for the End of Days soundtrack.

Extreme in this time recorded a concept album with an orchestra, a stripped back to basics album (both with extensive world tours), split up for thirteen years, bar the occasional live appearance in Japan with various line-ups, reformed in withion a few months released another album about four times better than Chinese Democracy.

Sorry about all this - it's just that I'm off to see this very band this evening, so I'm psyching myself up.

What's that? yes - I'm sure they WILL just play those two songs over and over again until the venue closes.

PalmerEldritch said...

enjoy the show, chris.

what's up, blogspotica?

Jordan said...

Anybody watch Jack Bauer last night? I got it on my dvr waiting.

PalmerEldritch said...

jack had some great lines early on. does a lot to setup season 7 and was pretty enjoyable. just keep in mind that this all happens in the 24iverse and it'll make sense.

Jimmy said...

I have to say that though I love seeing a good promo for LOST, or any show for that matter...that particular one didn't do it for me at all. Maybe because I hated the song? Or maybe it just felt so corporate to me. Or maybe it's because my retirement account is down 41%...who knows?

Jordan said...

Yeah. Totally agree Jimmy. The inter cut clips of the band really took away from the promo, and just made it seem like a cheesy shill.

memphish said...

I haven't watched it because I hate ABC's promo people and The Fray and the fact that it was aimed at a Grey's Anatomy audience. I figure I can wait the 8 weeks at this point.

On a related note, I am making excellent progress toward getting all my holiday shit done before December 9 so I can devote the rest of my December to Season 4 DVD watching. If only my mom and the in-laws would tell me what they want me to buy them I could be done with the shopping but for Hubby stocking stuffers.

Holli

Jordan said...

Well Holli. ABC is the vagina network. They got to try to get the Greys/Private Practice/Brothers and Sisters/Ugly Betty/Desperate Housewives crowd to watch. When you look at ABC's schedule, it's pretty shocking that Lost is still on that network.

PalmerEldritch said...

abc needs to douche their schedule.

christmas shopping, eh? not a bad idea. thanks to the interwebs, it's pretty easy to take care of that.

Now that gas is cheaper than shipping I went the old fashioned way, at least for most of the stuff.

andrew. said...

- Christmas shopping... all i've taken care of so far is my Brother. i got him a Clocky

- Supernatural: just finished Season 3 Episode 10. I'm enjoying it a lot. I recommend it to everybody. This episode was an exception because they took an uncalled for potshot at Pittsburgh.
"So, what was Bobby doing in Pittsburgh?"
"Well, unless he was taking an extremely lame vacation..."

- After that season finale of Entourage, i don't think i'm going to tune in next year. Worst episode ever.
These shows need to look to LOST. You're supposed to ramp up the finale.

Jordan said...

Speaking of lame finales, South Park's vampire ep was terribly unfunny. With all this Twilight nonsense going on right now, there was so much more to make fun of than what they did. Oh well.

scrdmnkydst said...

I'd have thought that for that vampire episode of South Park that they'd have done something about Emos and Goths rather than Vampires. I know that Twilight is supposed to be a big thing over in the US right now... but Emos are much easier to mock. I mean... just look at this and this for instance.

PalmerEldritch said...

BSG Season 4.5 Promo

with music by The Fray!!!

ok. not really.

it's all music from Chinese Democracy.

not really either. but Admiral Adama wants some of that free Dr Pepper.

Jordan said...

Herlihy, that actually is what the SP ep was about. It was about how all the trendy kids at school were jumping on the Vampire bandwagon, and how the Goth kids were pissed because they were stealing their schtick, but at the same time bastardizing it.

Jordan said...

Just saw a trailer for the new Wolverine movie that focues on his origin story. Did you know that Dominic Monaghan is in it as some character called Beak. And Keamy from Lost is in it playing The Blob. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Liev Schrieber as Sabretooth, and TDot Kim's favoUrite, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit.

PalmerEldritch said...

KABLAMO, BUB!

where's the trailer? and how the hell is Keamy playing the Blob?

Jordan said...

http://www.flylyf.com/x-men-origins-wolvering/

It's recorded from comic con. So not the best quality.

Jordan said...

And Keamy is wearing A LOT of make up/prosthetics.

Jordan said...

I've never been to Comic Con. But I couldn't help but chuckle whenever I hear fan boys/girls cheer during trailers. Like in this one when Gambit throws his card. I can only imagine how much more an experience it must be to actually be there. One of these days I need to go.

memphish said...

Keamy! But Keamy in prosthetics as a blob -- there's no good in that. Is Taylor Kitsch at least looking good? I know nothing about X-Men, but that cast is intriguing.

Holli

Jordan said...

The movie sounds odd. I'm not comic book expert. But I don't think all those characters actually had anything to do with Wolverines origin story. Seems they're just tacking on people like Gambit, Deadpool, Emma Frost, etc.

t-dot kim said...

I think Taylor Kitsch it everyone's favoUrite

Stephanie said...

Back from seeing Twilight. It spoke to my inner 14 year old.
Andrew, 3:11 was one of my favorites. Which creature/monster have you liked the best? Which supporting character is the most memorable to you? I really enjoy seeing Agent Hendrickson in Nightshifter. Is it just me of did that not remind you of Denzel in Inside Man? Bad Ass.

Stephanie said...

Taylor Kitsch!

andrew. said...

- Stephanie: just finished Season 3.
You're totally right about Hendrickson reminding me of Denzel in Inside Man, but i think moreso in the later episode at the other police station.
I think they really pulled off the creepy clown well, and i also really dug the episode with the haunted hotel.
For supporting characters, I always love seeing Whitney Ellsworth from Deadwood in anything, and i liked the mom & daughter from the roadhouse. I could do without Ash.

- I'm not excited about the Wolverine movie at all. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was probably the best part of the X-Men movies, but i'm afraid this new solo movie takes too much from the 1990's X-Men comics which were terrible. They really should have just filmed the Frank Miller limited-series from 1982. It is a pretty strong cast though, even if i have no idea who Taylor Kitsch is.

- which reminds me, what did everyone know Joshua Jackson from before he was on Fringe? Everyone is always going on and on about him, but the only thing in his credits that seems like a big deal is Dawson's Creek, which i've never seen a minute of.

Jordan said...

Mighty Ducks.

Chris JC said...

Wasn't Joshua Jackson in the hilarious "Urban Legend"?

Extreme was excellent - I spent somewhere from five to six hours in complete agony, then had a Doctor Pepper.

The band being joined Justin Hawkins for a Queen finale for Freddie Mercury's birthday (Nov 24), and also it being the last date of the UK leg made for a very tiring but excellent night.

Better than The Fucking FRAY, anyway.

Chris JC said...

And by "birthday" mean "death anniversary", obviously. But that goes without saying, right?

Chris JC said...

I've just learnt that trails (in the US) for the current season of Dirt are being underscored by getting-on-a-bit track "Running Girl" by Liverpool's favourite "disintegrating in a blast of inner-band angst and romantic relationship ending agony then reforming years later for clearly their best album" band, Ooberman.

That was a surprise.

Chris JC said...

They also are better than The Fray.

The FUCKING Fray, yes.

Stephanie said...

Andrew, OMG, Bobby was on Deadwood? I knew I knew him from somewhere. Yeah, I like Bobby. I liked Ellen but not Jo. Ash was pretty entertaining even though they didn't do anything with him. "All business in the front and part in the back."

The Smiths watched A Colbert Christmas and enjoyed it immensely.

Done with Skins. Very short. Only took two weekends to watch the first two series. You watch them grow from silly adolescents into adults. So sad to see them go off to university. I'll miss them.
Chris and herlihy, how far is it from Cardiff to York?

scrdmnkydst said...

Er... I'd say it's about 5 hours on the train. Probably including loads of changeovers and costing a huge amount. Season 3 starts in january by the way.

So. got an email from ABC&Dharma today. which basically have a video from cusellof saying that the ARG fucked up and now they're giving us behind the scene videos every week until the season premiere... FUN TIMES

PalmerEldritch said...

the dharmaspecialaccess stuff is actually more interesting than the entirety of the ARG. which is to say, it's mildly interesting.

PalmerEldritch said...

ABC has launched Ajira Airways' website which is apparently mentioned in a frame or two of the new promo or something.

Ajira Airways launches January 21st, 2009. Perhaps at 8 pm?

Chris JC said...

Steph, what might not be clear is that Cardiff and York are in two different countries, the former is in Wales and the latter England.

By road it's 250 miles, a little under four and a half hours (bear in mind our speed limit is 70mph).

Further to Herlihy's train info, trains from Cardiff Central to York do indeed take a little over five hours, assuming you get the one with only one change in Manchester.

Sorry about the boring message, but after three years of my job, I can't really help but give info.

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, i'll have to send you these directions between the two locations as google maps wouldn't give me driving directions between Cardiff in Wales and the York in Maine. :)

Distance between Cardiff, Wales and York County, Maine US (as the crow flies) is 3098 miles. That's 4986 kilometres, or 2692 nautical miles.

So there.

memphish said...

So Dr. Who fans is this good or bad news?

Speaking of Battlestar Galactica, Jamie Bamber has said that he would be too scared to replace David Tennant as the Eleventh Doctor on Doctor Who. "Those would be very big shoes to fill - if I'm going to be honest it would be very daunting to take on an icon like Doctor Who," said Bamber. "It's right at the core of British television and to take that on is a big challenge. I think it's a very enviable one for whoever gets it, but I'm not actively seeking it. I think I'm too scared to actually want it."

Holli

Chris JC said...

I'm not familiar enough with Bamber but I think they'll be looking slightly more different from Tennant.

New Doctor speculation is always fun, and it's refreshingly rare to see an actor say that they would rather not, thus eliminating themselves from enquiries.

Alirio said...

OK smartasses, where do York Peppermint Patties come from???

Chris JC said...

scrdmnkydst said...

i don't think it really matters to be honest... there'd be a massive uproar from the tabloids if there was an american Doctor... whereas everyone else would be alright.

wait. actually. the daily mail would get hold of it and there'd be more complaints about it than there are people in the country.

PalmerEldritch said...

herlihy, bamber's a brit (secretly). he's also too busy with the new Law & Order: London show to be the Doctor.

i remember thinking Bamber was a horrible actor because he sounds like he has a stick up his ass ALL THE TIME. then i heard him interviewed and he sounds a bit like Charlie Pace and holds himself ENTIRELY different. Adama always has a stiff back and his head upright. Bamber slouches, talks out of one side of his mouth, and tilts his head a lot. the dude can act. he just makes Lee Adama act like a tool for some reason (maybe cuz Lee Adama is a tool).

this Patterson Joseph (sp?) fellow... hope he's not the next Doctor as he was wholly unenjoyable during his guest spot earlier. maybe he's been really good in other projects?

hmm... actually, if L&O: Silly Wigs gets canceled then maybe Bamber could be the Doctor. but i'd rather see Baltar in the role. :)

PalmerEldritch said...

did i call it Law & Order: Funny Wigs a few months ago? or Law & Order: Silly Wigs? i'd like to be consistent if i could.

eh. watched both those clips. hopefully, if he IS the next Doctor, he'll do a good job. but he, in the three appearances i've seen him in, hasn't exhibited the charisma of an Eccleston or a Tennant.

of course, neither did quite a few of the Doctors. :)

Holli

Jordan said...

Speaking of more Bluths. I heard somewhere that it's looking like the AD movie just might get made after all.

And Palmer, did those Dr Lazer clips hit close to home at all? I laughed pretty hard when Brian Posehn kissed the dvd box set.

And when did youtube go widescreen?

PalmerEldritch said...

went widescreen today, as far as i can tell.

Dr Who is so old that they dont have all of the episodes to put on DVD. they lost and/or disposed of a lot of the old episodes cuz they were running out of room in the film vaults or something.

every couple of years, someone at a garage sale somewhere in the world will find a recording or an old for-broadcast copy of an old episode that'll be cannibalized to get as much usable material as possible.

they've got the audio of some episodes but not the video so they make flash animations for them. weird stuff.

oh. and if you're at Comic-Con, you're bound to randomly walk by Brian Posehn and say "hey, isn't that... that guy... uh... Brian... Posehn?" and by then he's gone just as mysteriously as he appeared.

Jordan said...

I met Brian Posehn once. I went and saw the comedians of comedy when they came to town a couple years back. After the show I ran into him at a burger place. Chatted for a minute while in line. Pretty cool guy. He was just like some normal dude. A big giant nerdy normal dude.

Yeah, that's some scary stuff going on in India. Hopefully things calm down. Scary world we live in sometimes.

Jordan said...

Looks like there's going to be an Arrested Development movie. Yay!

Also looks like Michael Cera doesn't appreciate the show that made him. The people that are responisble for him being able to play the same character over and over and make millions.

I would be perfectly fine with the AD movie opening at George Michael's funeral.

Stephanie said...

Mumbai?

Jordan said...

Not sure what you mean Steph. But if you don't know where Mumbai is. It's the major Indian city formerly known as Bombay. It was recently renamed. Well sorta. Mumbai is the original name of the city, from back before the English colonized it and renamed it.

Jordan said...

Here's a recent quote from Michael Cera, who pretty much everybody assumes is the lone AD movie holdout.

“I don’t think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway,” Cera told the National Post in August. “And I don’t really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD.”

Ok. We get it you might not want to do the old tv show that you were on before you were a HUGE star. But what kind of reasoning is "why need a movie when you have the show on dvd?"

memphish said...

Supposedly there is one AD movie holdout and most people think it is Cera for just those types of quotes. I say write him out. While I'm sure in 2 hours you could give George Michael one or two interesting things to do, but you could write just as many interesting jokes about why he isn't there.

As for Mumbai, there are terrorist attacks and hostages being held. Check a news site if you are interested though there's not a lot of cold hard facts yet.

Holli

Jordan said...

Personally, I think it would be hilarious for the writer's to come up with a humorous explanation for George Michael not being around. They'd have a ton of chances to make a bunch of inside jokes about Cera being too big for the movie. Afterall, they were great at taking subtle swipes at Fox while at the end of their run.

memphish said...

Exactly my point Jordan. I think that could be funnier than anything they could do with George Michael.

Stephanie said...

Screw Michael Cera.

I know where Mumbai is. I'm waiting on Slumdog Millionaire to download since the film isn't coming here until January. I was just surprised that Twitter didn't alert me of the events.

Lost WILL be a 2 Hour Premiere with a catch-up show beforehand.

Jordan said...

Sorry Steph. I thought Palmer had already explained the happenings in his above post. Which led me to think that the only question you could've been asking was where it was.

Is Twitter seriously your only source of news? lol.

Here's a quote from an unnamed AD cast member:

"Yes, it's a go," an Arrested castmember who asked not to be named tells me. "We're all very excited. And it will happen with or without the holdout."

"Yeah, [he or she] might not do it," an actor says of this costar. "However, I do know that we will do the project with or without [him or her]."

Jordan said...

Great line in one of the final episodes of Homicide:

There was this trend in the mid-late 90s of supermarkets bringing in Christmas paraphernalia (not decorations, but staff badges or posters with snowmen on) as early as September, but that seems to have calmed down in recent years.

As Halloween is less of a deal and we obviously don't have Thanksgiving, there's no "border" - if you see what I mean, so shops just sort of roll out Christmas at their own rate.

- Happy REAL Thanksgiving er'body! One of my best friends just had a beautiful baby girl, so i'm thankful for that. What are you thankful for this year?

- I saw Synecdoche New York yesterday. I highly recommend it. It's very refreshing to see such a unique vision like Charlie Kaufmann's given in to all of its indulgences. It feels a little long in parts but i think it rewards you in the end. (Ally?)

I have Synecdoche saved in my queue. It sounds interesting, but not $10 interesting.

Ally chimed in over on Twitter yesterday. She had a class. I'm assuming that's a pole dancing class.

We're going to see Bolt in 3-D in a few. T-Day dinner is at 5. We're doing in-law Thanksgiving which has me less than enthused as I just ate with this same group of people on Sunday and my mother-in-law's dressing sucks.

Bolt in 3-D was very good. The opening action sequence was much better than the one in QofS. The 3-D was definitely worth the extra cost and the annoyance of the glasses. They did a super job of it. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you need to take a kid to the movies.
