Chris, our elections are the same. We had our federal election come and go in a blink. PC party remained in power--Liberals lost about 30 seats. Did that make the news across the pond? It made it onto the Daily Show. Thanks to Jordan, I saw it last night. Quite funny.
Maybe what I think Tasty Wheat tasted like actually tasted like oatmeal, or tuna fish. That makes you wonder about a lot of things. You take chicken, for example: maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.
I spent the weekend finishing the second season of Dexter. I love that homicidal maniac. Not so much that I'll subscribe to Showtime, but enough to marathon a DVD set.
I never watched Dexter on CBS. You need the full Showtime nudity and cursing to get the full flavor of the show. Each season is only 12 episodes, and I think it's available to watch instantly on Netflix, if you have the right setup.
p, Mad Men's season two finale is next week. I don't know if I like this season as much as the first. Do you know when Tony was in the coma in Sopranos? That's what season two reminds me of sort of. But for Mad Men, plot doesn't matter as much as the characters and set design and dialog does.
Things are a bit slow at the moment. I was in early training a new traffic gal. She'll be taking over for me, and I'm moving into another position--still traffic.
I was thinking about starting up Supernatural. Steph, all your twitter updates make me want to see what all the hype is about. I do like me some Jensen Ackles (is that his name?)
So it's going to be Philly and Tampa for the World Series. I'm happy Boston was knocked out last night. Give someone else a chance for once.
The Constant (Lindelof, Cuse and editor Mark Goldman)
Ji Yeon (DDK, Yunjin and director Stephen Semel)
There's No Place Like Home (pt 2 of 3) (Lindelof and Cuse)
Palmer:not blu-ray though, right? so i can still hold blu-ray and cheaper price over your head when i get my filthy hands on season 4 this december?
No, not Blu-Ray. There's so little point having a region 2 Blu-Ray player with the lack of titles we have and the difficulty of playing titles from other regions. Season 4 is the first we got in Blu-Ray. We didn't get the Blu-Ray of 3. And yes, if it helps it cost roughly sixty bucks.
Palmer, the Lost game had its issues but for $13 it wouldn't be that big of an investment. You could rent it for about half that. It's not a long game either.
If you wanted to get LittleBigPlanet early, I was just in my Costco and they had it out on the shelf. If I had not just paid $200 for the Rockband 2 bundle I would be playing it right now. I'd say look/call around and you might be able to get a copy.
- i made a horrible mistake last night. After seeing a ton of commercials for Saw 5, i remembered that i had only watched 1 & 2. Apparently 3 & 4 were made for obsessive compulsives, because unless you've seen all of the movies on extended, unrated, commentaried, quadruple-disc DVD, and memorized all of the bland actors' faces, they won't make a lick of sense.
Andrew - funnily enough I was just saying fairly similar things about the Saw series to Steph while recording her new episode.
I got caught up with the films so I could see Saw V at the cinema, but then the DVDs have so much added, even into the plot, that I reckon it will actually be a waste of my time even as a fan of the series.
- Re: Saw - yeah, the mistake was watching them. In my head they were kind of safety horror films, kind of dumb, but fast and interesting enough to keep my attention. 3 is not very good but watchable. 4 is a complete trainwreck. Like i said, you have to be a Saw scholar to keep track of the plots. They seemed to forget that the point of putting disposable characters into sadistic traps is that the audience is disconnected enough from them to enjoy watching their gorey demise. Saw 3 & 4 ask you to randomly recall characters that died in 1 & 2, as well as their entire back stories.
Saw 1 was a good safety horror film.
This Halloween is really dry for horror movies. I feel like they're already rolling out the home-for-the-holiday roster.
Saw is fucking awesome, and has Michael Emerson in it.
The rest are like a gory soap opera. You can't just drop in - you need to follow and care. I can think of no other series where the chronology of the events is, in itself, used as a plot twist.
Well, I'm not actually a person so I don't really count.
LOST DVD update:
"Lost on Location" has some great behind the scenes stuff. It's the first time I've noticed that in the first episode, Hurley crashes his car into a load of mirrors. Several years bad luck.
You've not experienced bad LOST wigs until you've seen the stunt doubles.
Contrary to fan assumption, it's not Zoe Bell who performs Charlotte's drop from the tree in Confirmed Dead.
I've garnered a very quick appreciation of Rebecca Mader.
You'll be pleased to know that the pop-ups are not on the disc, but there is a documentary about guns for fans of ballistics.
LOST music fans, you will either be excited or really disappointed to find that the live score performance is not really presented as a straight thing, but what it is actually is a documentary about the music with interviews with Giacchino and TPTB as well as some footage of scoring sessions.
I'd prefer a proper music documentary and a separate version of the performance, but this hybrid is better than nothing.
- didja guys miss the boobies picture i posted above?
- last night I caught up with: Dexter - rinse & repeat seasons 1 & 2 - i'm finally starting to see why people find Deb so annoying, she didn't used to bother me at all
The Shield - finally stopped treading water but did so really abruptly, should be more exciting from here on out
Fringe - Didn't watch last night, but the previous episode was definitely on the right track. I'm starting to be happy that i've stuck with it.
Terminator TSCC - A good episode. I wish they would give Summer a little more to do, good ballerina fight though.
- Did that lawsuit against Watchmen get settled? If not, it seems like quite a gamble to be rolling out so much preview footage for a film that could be tied up for years.
- I'm in a really good mood today for no particular reason. Hooray for today!
I imagine it'd be so hard to get right in terms of pleasing fans of the show and people who are already in the line at the cinema before they think about what they want to watch.
i'm trying to think of good movies that came from TV shows (but not re-imaginings). so far i have: * Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm * The Monkees: Head * Jackass * The Muppet Movie * Strange Brew * Transformers The Movie
luckily the last line of the JJ Abrahms interview didn't seem very promising for the LOST movie.

"They've got their own government!" I believe was the phrase.
My MacBook is stuck in Mississauga :-(
Any chance you could get it unstuck for me Kim?
forgot to check the email notification box :-(
I'll fly it to you in the chopper on Monday
I'm sure it'll survive the fall. I hear those Macs are amazing.
I saw a commercial the other day for Sarah Silverman's new DVD which referred to her as "America's best kept comedy secret".
What do I have to do to get America to keep that secret a little harder?
Sarah Silverman is one of those who thinks saying something offensive is the exact same thing as saying something funny.
Looks like Palin is going to be on SNL tonight.
Great pic Kim. Extended Version

Nervous about the national switchover to Digital TV (are they doing this in the UK or Canada)?
just watch this informative video
In your face Sarah Palin! On Weekend Update!!! LOL
Canada goes DIGITAL in 2011 while our neighbours to the South take the plunge into the Matrix in 2009.
Maybe what I think Tasty Wheat tasted like actually tasted like oatmeal, or tuna fish. That makes you wonder about a lot of things. You take chicken, for example: maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.
LOL!!
MB - The uk is already in the process of going digital. It's happening region by region starting from the top to the bottom. It started this year...
My region is changing over next year, it'll probably be 2010/11 by the time it reaches the far south...
Amy Pohler's Palin rap was awesome.
Now you're dead!
Cuz I'm an animal.
And I'm bigger than you!
I might just vote for Tim Calhoun.
Yeah, what Herlihy said. I believe the very last analogue transmitter will be switched off in 2012.
We've got a lot of stuff going on in 2012: digital switchover; Olympics and the Doctor Who episodes Fear Her and Dalek.
2012 is also the next END OF TIME.
Oh, balls. I was planning on being alive past that time...
Hang on - December 21, 2012? Isn't that the invasion date from The X Files?
Ah, The X Files invasion is due on 22 December 2012.
Won't those aliens look stupid when they find they're a day late?
Daft bastards.
I promise this will end my run of posts but it's Quantum of Solace review time, courtesy of a man who used to present news for children on the BBC.
Enjoy!
Jon Cravenis reviewing films now? I thought he was busy doing countryfile.
It's actually Lizo - a slighty more up to date Newsround presenter.
I remember him. I think. He's the black guy with glasses who always made me thought he was Moira Stewart's son...
Damn. How much longer til Lost?
Just my opinion, but no team that gives out cowbells to it's fans should be allowed to win the World Series. I say that completely without bias.
Unless the Phillies decide to give out cowbells next weekend. Then I'm all for it.
- MYOKM
Did you say How long til Lost?
good morning, blogspotica.

One of my favourite bands, The Long Blondes have split up.
I'm really really upset :( They were amazing live :(
Hey blog, what's up?
kimblamo!
not too much, kim. whats up with our favorite traffic woman?
Oh not much. Just season three of Supernatural. Kim, I'm going to pick up some blank DVDs tomorrow and burn you a copy. Send me your address.

Whatever they are, both the same.
...and Firefly was canceled!?
Don't get me started.
LOST season 4 DVDs = mine.
Jimmy, Ralph-, were you aware that there's a live performance of sections of the score on this set?
Only four commentaries though. Still, I think that's an improvement on last time, especially with the reduced number of episodes.
What episodes have commentaries Chris?
Holli
!!!!!
color me jealous, chris.
heck. colour me jealous, damnit.

Will Davina Zombie travel, as a joke?
I guess you'd just imagine Zombie Ryan Seacrest.
er... possibly? I dunno.
If you didn't know who she was when you watched, it's likely that you'd get a sense of what she is anyways.
You are, of course, correct.
From the advert, it seems like she's doing exactly what she does on normal big brother... so it does seem like i would be correct.
also.
drinking a whole bottle of free champagne while dancing on a podium is a quick way to feel like crap the next morning.
