ok, so weird things were going on on my computer. For some reason i could not find the comments i added if i went directly from the COMMENT tab on the blog, but would show up when i clicked BACK on my browser. did that happen to anyone else?
- That Alan Dale mini-interview was a little depressing. I agree that actors that belittle the shows/movies they are in suck. Maybe you skip the press junkets out of protest, but have a little class.
- Does anyone else crack up every time they see the Office Season 4 DVD commercial & Meredith rolls off of Michael Scott's windshield? They play it every commercial break during The Daily Show & Colbert Report, and her expression gets me every time.
ok...someone posted under my name, b/c I didn't post that "Canada Bitches" msg. lol...funny though.
Holli, no I haven't seen Evangeline Lilly. I was out on Friday night, but didn't get a chance to see much of anything. A lot of places are packed with TIFF events--either they're private parties, or just too many ppl trying waiting in line to get in. I didn't even attempt to go to the clubbing district. I'll keep my eagle eyes open for any celeb spottings for you Holli.
What's the haps blogspotters? Back-To-School grind & post-vacation exhaustion huh?
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles returns tonight and features Garbage's own Shirley Manson. I've only seen the commercials, but her character looks a little cartoony for the show, like a Smallville villain.
- "Burn After Reading" looks really great. I'm hoping to see it this Sunday. I <3 Frances McDormand.
- I was really looking forward to "Choke," the new movie based on one of the better Chuck Palahniuk books but the trailer doesn't look too hot. I'm hoping they're just trying to hide the subversive plot, because the trailer really plays up the sex addiction angle which is a really insignificant part of the book.
i just watched the 1st season of "the Terminator show" a couple of weeks ago, and i really liked it. It chugs along pretty nicely, and fits really well with the tone of the 1st 2 movies. The cast do a very admirable job (I don't envy Summer Glau's job of imitating Vicky The Small Wonder) It might even manage to resurrect Brian Austin Green's career!
I gave up on the SCC last year in the middle of ep 2. I was a little bit excited with Brian Austin Green joined the cast (yes, you can laugh at me for that one). I was thinking of giving it a second chance, but I'm still on the fence. BTW, did anyone watch Life? I've heard nothing but good things about it. That got picked up for another season too, right?
Haven't watched yet Chris - sorry! May have to take a 'coffee break' here and watch a little. I have more time at work to be non-prouctive than at home - lol.
Ally, ANTM was definately better in the 2nd part of the premiere. I haven't picked a favourite yet. I don't like the "futuristic/spacey" feeling of this season--it's way over the top, but what else do you expect with Tyra :P
Do you have a fav?--I'll check the forum to see if you or Holli have posted anything about it yet :)
- for fans of Mad Men who watched this Sunday's episode... during the pitch to the Coffee execs there's a cast-off line about trying to use puppets to reach a younger audience. Turns out it's true. Wilkins Coffee used ads made by a young Jim Henson. They're crazy too. Here's the YouTube (clicky)"
- True Blood was good, although an infatuation with Anna Paquin helped a lot. Despite looking a lot like Buffy The Vampire Slayer from a distance, I actually see a ton of similarities to Wonderfalls in the first episode.
so last night i missed both SCC and Prison Break, as I was starting to get settled into watching the show, the power goes out! I'm still so mad about this! I didn't even get to watch a bit of it, since the power didn't come back on until around 1, i hear (i went to bed way before that). what's even more infuriating is that it's not like the power went off in the whole neighborhood, but just on my street! so while everyone else in my 'hood was enjoying their stupid power i was sitting at home in the dark. later we found out a transformer blew out, which duh i could've figured since i heard a big boom go off (twice!). so i'll have to catch both shows online at some point this week before next week's shows. this better not happen tonight when Fringe is on!

if a radio station plays modern music, i mostly avoid it.

MEDIOCRE JOKE OF THE DAY:
Two fraternity brothers decide to go sailing one afternoon and become lost. After twenty hours with nothing to eat or drink, one of them spots a lamp floating by. He picks it up and a genie pops out. The genie notices the poor condition of the brothers and grants them one wish between the two of them.
After a lot of arguing over who gets the wish, one of them blurts out, "I wish the ocean was made of beer."
Magically, the ocean turns to beer.
Infuriated, the other guy yells, "You idiot! Now we have to piss in the boat!"
- Sarah Connor Chronicles & Fringe & this week's Shield are sitting on my DVR as well. I watched Weeds last night. Too tired for much more. With all of the shows on right now, I think the time-shifting is going to start to get a little out of hand.
- Season finale of Weeds next week. I'm not really that invested in the show at this point, but i like having shows like Weeds & Entourage for a lighter faire, even if Weeds insists on getting gruesomely dark at times.
- No doomsday today. The Large Hadron Collider is just sending high energy beams around the track today. They don't start colliding particles for another month.
I had to chase playback to watch because it came on before Kiddo's bedtime last night. And the recording was shitty and skipped which did make me less inclined to love it. I'll definitely hang in for at least 3 weeks. After all, Tues. nights are a dead zone for TV.
Elias - I did indeed. Used to like the Kryptonite Green they used to light it at night. Went for a job there once, but didn't see any of the nice bits - just the boring Tesco Offices bit at the back.
Good one, Palmer. I didn't even catch the Fringe/Fridge thing.
Holli, my recording was messed up too. It was like the sound wasn't synching up to the picture. Like they were talking but you would hear the stuff before they moved their mouth. Intentional? If so, they better stop it, cause it sucks.
well things are getting crazy around here. i don't know exactly where you are robert, but be careful. on my way to work (a 10 minute drive), i witnessed people cutting people off to get to gas stations, slow freeway, people running all crazy into the bank and an accident complete with cops, tow trucks and spectators. and all that before 9 am. i'm afraid to see what tomorrow is gonna be like or heck, even later today.
Ally, I leave soooo early for work that I missed any excitement, however, I am NOT looking forward to the trek home. Obviously, not working tomorrow and no school for my kids. They have never seen a big hurricane FOR REAL and don't know how much it SUCKS!!
Thanks for the warning Steph, but we've been told to stay put for everyone else's safety. They've evacuated and are still evacuating the people closest to the shore. They're exact words are "run from the water, hide from the wind" i fall under the wind part of the storm.
Robert, I hope you and your family are ok. We were just told not to come into work tomorrow. Good luck trying to get home. Avoid the beltway at all costs.
- who are all of those fresh faced people on the beach?
- I'm behind on my stories anyway, but i'm kind of annoyed with FX over the way they're rolling out "Sons Of Anarchy". They spent the whole summer advertising the pilot episode, but then i can't figure out when or even on which night episode 2 is going to air. poop sandwich.
I'm not really a pub-goer. There's some nasty Irish style pub down on Pitshanger Lane that I occasionally meet people at - Duke of Kent looks nice though. I always meant to attempt Sunday lunch there once as the wife is a vegan.
I figured you were probably somewhere over that way when we found ourselves talking about The Drayton Court showing up in Classic Doctor Who.
For Blogspotters who don't know what we're talking about, Elias and I have just found that, despite the global reach of this blog and the SAS podcasts, about four years we lived this far from each other.
It's just giving me flashbacks to driving to Tesco over a busy junction on hot days in a car whose engine fan didn't work.
I've posted our most recent podcast. Here The first in a series of Halloween themed podcasts in this one we talk about lots of movies in the horror genre.
We are asking everyone to call in with the first scary movie ever seen and the scariest movie ever seen.
Feel free to call with yours 1-205-332-1240
Everyone that calls in will get a free cupcake. lol
Apparently Tobey McGuire caved and is going to do 2 more Spiderman movies with Sam Raimi. Hopefully they will be more focused and not as jumped as #3 was.
MB - intriguing. The Sun can be eccentric with the accuracy of their sources, but it might be nice to wrap up the Time War story before El Moffo takes the reins and it's a way they could do it.
- i know nobody else is following the LOST ARG at this point, but i've been keeping up with it. One of the new challenges is to create your own multiple choice test about any subject you want. I decided to take it seriously and spent quite a bit of time making a quiz about Greek mythology, using LOST references as the basis for each question. I was pretty happy with my finished product. Then, ofcourse, the website failed to save the quiz!!! so pissed.
it's getting rough indeed. i'm at home right now. we're expected to get 35 mph winds later this afternoon. the coast is flooding. keeping my eye on the news. they just said and i quote "we will not go back for one more stupid person" the coast guards are refusing to get people out that were told wednesday to leave. people are starting to go up on their roofs because the water is getting crazy.
Ally, I hope that you're staying dry and safe!!! My boss is from the Houston are and flew back 2 days ago to make sure his house and family are doing fine. I hope that you're doing well, and keep us updated.
I'm so happy it's Friday!!! I'm soooo happy I have 2 days to myself. I did the dumbest thing last night--somehow ended up completely re-formatting my computer and LOST EVERYTHING!!! EVERYTHING. I was upset--but what I can I do about it, nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm over Macs.
there's a guy in a bear suit walking along the sea wall right now. some people are just trying to get on tv at this point. there's still not a hint of rain yet, it's just wind.
did you really blow away everything or did you create a new installation and a new user account? the old account isn't laying around on your hard drive somewhere?
man, that blows. were you distracted cuz you were watching "So You Think You Can Dance: Canada?"
Well the refineries are shut down for now. I know that when Katrina and Rita hit it took months to get the refineries back to full capacity. The other problem is the price. If the refineries are hurt, back up they go.
the gas stations around here all ran out of gas yesterday, by this morning gas was up over $4 a gallon, when i pumped gas yesterday morning it was $3.42
I live about a mile or so from the Talladega speedway and there are a couple of stations on my way into work that had signs on the pumps that said "out of gas".
One guy was pumping gas and the fumes ignited and his arm was on fire and he was running all over the place waving his arm around after the bystanders put the fire out the police took him away to jail.
since i'm getting a cold, i took some medication (not e) and passed out for a couple hours. i woke up and it's dark and super windy! i'm like, WTF? oh right, we're expecting a hurricane.
still no rain, just wind. now they're giving out curfews so that no crazy people are running around town at night. there's already been 2 fires in galveston and the firefighters can't get to it because it's flooded everywhere. they also already arrested 3 looters.
Here in far NW Harris County, about 100 miles from the actual beach, we have just started getting some nasty winds. No rain yet. For some reason, my house has become THE place to be for crazy teens who have NO IDEA what could happen and think this is fun. I'm sending them home soon. All outdoor furniture is tied down to our wrought iron fence. I'm most concerned about the stupid pine trees just outside our yard, which is already covered with pine needles. I find pine trees to be the weeds of the tree family. :) Hope Ally is OK as well.
Forget to add that the beach house we stayed at this summer for a week, on the farthest end of West Beach, is already gone!! Incredible, as the storm is still almost 75 miles away.
Just saw a report on TV that we have streets in the city of Houston already flooding with salt water which has come through the various bays and manmade waterways. No RAIN yet. Guys and gals not familiar with this area, Houston is about 50 miles inland. This is really turning into a freaky storm.
Hate to get slightly political here on the blogspot, but Herlihy mentioned stupid hurricane names. We have a congresswoman here, who I won't mention by name, who pitched a fit because hurricanes don't get ethnic names. Hey genuis, hurricanes are BAD!! Why would you want a name associated with your particular ethnic group? Amazing. I damn sure don't want a hurricane Robert killing people and creating billions of dollars in damage.
In Wayne Brady's defense, his Vegas show at the Venetian is frickin' hilarious. I went under protest, but he is really a comic genious. Every show is different. Who'd a thunk it?
MB, are you and 'Mac' out there? Did I read that our beloved Kim is having problems with a Mac computer? I take that as a personal attack. :) I am probably the biggest Apple nerd on this list. Certainly the oldest! :):)
- just got back from seeing "Burn After Reading". It was solidly funny throughout. As you can tell from the commercials, its got the heightened screwball comedy acting from everyone, but its tempered with the Coen Bros. dark sense of humor. It was great and will probably get even better with subsequent viewings.
Anyone here watch Life? I just watched the Pilot and saw Big Mike and Juliet's sister from LOST.
We've been getting clouds from Ike, yes this far away. You can tell by how they move counterclockwise, but I hear it's not too rain intensive so we may not get much rain.
Holli, I am a big "Life" fan. Love it. They have, however, given it a Friday night time slot where it will probably fail. Damian Lewis is yet another British actor who absolutely nails an American accent. Love the former dallas cowboy cheerleader, his partner, as well.
Robert - I am so sorry I forgot to include you in my well wishes earlier. Hope it all passes with as few problems as possible!
And yes, I was reading Kim's post and actually got on Apple's support page and was trying to see how likely is was that she just maybe created a new profile/login like Palmer was suggesting. Kim - if you describe what you did, maybe there's a solution - you never know :)
MB, I got a Time Capsule which is invaluable in keeping things backed up. We are finally getting some rain here. Haven't heard from Ally. She may live far south from me where power is already out.

SPLIT PAGES?! what the hell? wow.
AHA! Hello!
Why does Rock Riddle hate numbers over 200?
- That Alan Dale mini-interview was a little depressing. I agree that actors that belittle the shows/movies they are in suck. Maybe you skip the press junkets out of protest, but have a little class.
- Does anyone else crack up every time they see the Office Season 4 DVD commercial & Meredith rolls off of Michael Scott's windshield? They play it every commercial break during The Daily Show & Colbert Report, and her expression gets me every time.
Hello Rock Riddle. You must be very proud of your son's work on the Daily Show.
Oh wait... that's Riggle isn't it.....
Hooray for new threads!
"This is the face of rabies!" is what my husband screams each time he sees Meredith's read head hitting Michael's windshield.
I do not get the Seinfeld Microsoft commercial.
Check out this awesome podcast on which soon Chris and I will be participating.
The first episode of dexter season 3 seems to have been leaked to the internets. So peeps who can't wait until the 25th...
Steph and Chris, I hope you'll do better on that show than it did on Metrobuzz. Be sure to link again when your episode is up.

I'm sooooo tired of politics. On TV, on the radio. I need some more podcasts to listen to.
I posted a thanks to Palmer on the last thread...cause I'm not so smart :/
THANKS PALMER for the info on the SPLOG!
Those were some crazy hard trivia questions Metrobuzz had. The other team just got lucky.
Alan Dale: "...I think [Charles Widmore] is more involved in the show than even I realise."
um...YAAAH!!! Dude REALLY needs to start watching the show a LITTLE more.
But I suppose as long as he can continue to play a rich asshole with the aplomb he has been - I guess it should work pretty well for the show - lol.
must listen to Metrobuzz

Does Ross Kemp need a global audience?
Does Ross Kemp need an audience full stop?
An audience of PROPER HARD GANGS and army fetishist skinheads.
Kablamo!
I still hate ross kemp.
Tried to find his Bran Flakes advert on YouTube to no avail.
BOOOOO!
Hello, Canada.
What's Canada so excited about? Or have you started kicking ass in the Paralympics?
Can anyone technically "kick" anything in th Paralympic?
erm... the people with both legs but only half an arm? they can kcik things.
Evangeline Lilly is in Toronto. Have you seen her Kim? You been hanging out? Spotted Dominic?

Seeing as though the blogspot has been very slow for the past two days...
i just thought i'd say that Shiny Toy Guns' new single, with new sing Sisely who was on that Who wants to be a pussycat doll show, is very good.
Their electroglam cover of Nothing Compares 2 U is amazing.
ok...someone posted under my name, b/c I didn't post that "Canada Bitches" msg. lol...funny though.

- Go Steelers!
- a show about an island!
kim, your friend jordan?
is that Terminator show somehow actually entertaining?
i ask because Sarah and John looked like the mullet family and avoided it. not cuz i watched and thought it was crap.
SCC is quite entertaining, palmer. the mullets should be gone this season, or at least john's is, he seems to have gotten a haircut during the summer.
should be an eventful night with SCC + Prison Break.
i don't know if i can handle so much action in one night. (that's right, i said it)
ooooh. i saw some doctor who news today. how exciting.
i just watched the 1st season of "the Terminator show" a couple of weeks ago, and i really liked it. It chugs along pretty nicely, and fits really well with the tone of the 1st 2 movies. Kim - I shouldn't have been fooled by that message - lack of userpic and that. Silly me.

(looking for said Who news....)
....sorry....too eager?
kablamo!!
Palmer, yes--your friend Jordan.
SCC has gotten better with time, Kim. I recommend you give it another chance.
new Prison Break(in?) tonight! Can't wait to see how it all starts to unfold.
I watched the repeat of Top Model last night and realized I shouldn't have given up watching after one hour, hour 2 was way better than hour 1.
Fringe tomorrow!
oh, sorry MB. it's on the forum. It's not particularly exciting though. haha.
It's exciting enough, lad.
Good stuff, though The Sun do run the gamut between spot on and "what were you thinking?"
MB - how's Press Gang sitting with you?
Thanks Herlihy - just looked. Hope it happens! :)
Haven't watched yet Chris - sorry! May have to take a 'coffee break' here and watch a little. I have more time at work to be non-prouctive than at home - lol.
The Shield is still the bollocks.
Does T-dot have a hammock district?
Ally, ANTM was definately better in the 2nd part of the premiere. I haven't picked a favourite yet. I don't like the "futuristic/spacey" feeling of this season--it's way over the top, but what else do you expect with Tyra :P

Sky One are doing Britain's Next Top Model.
Bunty M?
BNTM is on Living. Not Sky One. Sky One (or Sky1 as it is since the recent rebrand) has project catwalk/runway. ...which has been cancelled. oh dear.
Ah - my knowledge of satellite and cable has fallen right off.
All I know if the Gmail targeted ad said:
"www.sky.com/Britains_Next_Top_Model - Imported directly from the USA by Sky TV: Britain's Next Top Models."
Hence my confusion.
LOL Kim. I remember Greektown and the Entertainment District - is that the clubbing district?
Kim~ i'll go post my favorites on the boards. i hadn't decided which ones i liked yet, but after watching i do have a couple of faves.
As for Brit's Top Model, I've seen the summaries they're aired here, it looks like they're just as catty if not more, in Britain.
oh, those top models. will they ever learn?
new prisonbreak tonight! and... Fringe tomorrow?
Guard your sausages.

Steph - have you been listening to Katy Perry again?
I love the fact that Chris actually thought that was Sarah Palin. lol.
i guess i should check out this song and video some time, eh? so far, i've heard like five seconds of that song.
oh. and ten seconds of Jay Glatfelter singing it. :\
John Madden is quite the artist.

Michael "Hollywood" Cera doesn't want to do an Arrested Development movie.
I don't know if George Michael is really an absolute necessity for an AD movie.

I hope you enjoy Fringe, MB. I liked it. If you don't want spoilers, stay away from the boards until you see it.
So I'm not the only one that hasn't seen SCC yet? Good. I felt like I was the only one left out there and everyone else had enjoyed it.
I guess I'll head over to the forum for Fridge discussion...
Did anyone watch it w/o taping it?
Chris - you lived near the Hoover Building ? It's still a Tesco's you'll be glad to know!
i had to watch half live and then had to record the other half because i had to go somewhere.
I had to chase playback to watch because it came on before Kiddo's bedtime last night. And the recording was shitty and skipped which did make me less inclined to love it. I'll definitely hang in for at least 3 weeks. After all, Tues. nights are a dead zone for TV.
Holli
kablamo!!
"I guess I'll head over to the forum for Fridge discussion..."
man, Fridges are AWESOME.
Elias - I did indeed. Used to like the Kryptonite Green they used to light it at night. Went for a job there once, but didn't see any of the nice bits - just the boring Tesco Offices bit at the back.
In fact, I lived almost exactly Here.
I think I might've liked Fridge better than I did Fringe.
Fridges are cool.
/crickets...
heheheh. well done, ally. :D
whoops...I don't read before I post
for those so inclined:
Yearbook Yourself
Good Morning Blogspotica! New Burn Notice tonight! Only 2 left until 2009 = Boooooo!
In case you need to send a message.
And stay safe Ally! Looks like Ike is headed your way.
Holli
Looks like Ally and I are going to get hit this time for real by hurricane Ike. Bummer. It is going to be a HUGE storm.
Robert
Stay safe Robert!
Holli
ditto on that. ally, robert, and anyone else in the area, stay safe.
and err on the side of caution.
besides Hurricanes, what's everyone up to today?
well things are getting crazy around here. i don't know exactly where you are robert, but be careful. on my way to work (a 10 minute drive), i witnessed people cutting people off to get to gas stations, slow freeway, people running all crazy into the bank and an accident complete with cops, tow trucks and spectators. and all that before 9 am. i'm afraid to see what tomorrow is gonna be like or heck, even later today.
Basically, this was my yearbook picture.
Ally and Robert- evacuate!
Ally, I leave soooo early for work that I missed any excitement, however, I am NOT looking forward to the trek home. Obviously, not working tomorrow and no school for my kids. They have never seen a big hurricane FOR REAL and don't know how much it SUCKS!!
Robert
Thanks for the warning Steph, but we've been told to stay put for everyone else's safety. They've evacuated and are still evacuating the people closest to the shore. They're exact words are "run from the water, hide from the wind" i fall under the wind part of the storm.
Robert, I hope you and your family are ok. We were just told not to come into work tomorrow. Good luck trying to get home. Avoid the beltway at all costs.
there's a full report as to what's going on.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080911/ap_on_re_us/ike
Monday we can start over from the beginning.
Hope everyone is alright.
It's so weird looking at that picture Steph, since a lot of those people are goners.
- stay safe hurrispotters.
I just wish there were a way to turn off the pop-ups. Wait there is. It's called my DVDs.
Holli
Looking at that old LOST picture is a bit like watching the end credits of Dad's Army
"Dead.... dead.... alive....dead.... he died first..."
Utterly macabre, Chris.
I remember you said you used to walk down Castlebar Road - I'm still on the other side of Argyle Road. Did you ever drink in The Kent?
Stay safe Hurri-caners!
That's crazy! Maybe now you guys can hang out @ the pub on Pits-hanger??
I don't live there now, but can still get there on a bus in an hour or so, usually.
Should Facebook you up, Elias and arrange a time for you to learn how little I actually know about films.
how very LOSTish. maybe we'll see Chris walking by in one of Elias' flashbacks?
/wait... what?
Lovely stuff, Palmer.
Duffy's - never been in there, Chris. Peter Crouch and his lady-friend often drink at The Kent though. That sounds so provincial.
Also The Fox & Goose AKA Goose & Pork.
alright, blogspotters, i'm going home now, hopefully i won't get hurt trying to cross the people trying to get out of town.
i'll try to get back on as soon as i can. wish me luck.
Good Luck ally and everyone else in the path of the storm it looks like it's going to be a big one.
Cupcakes for the blogspot, especially Wesh.
Holli
Man oh man, trying not to get my hopes up but there's some big spoilery news in the WHOniverse!
NEWS I HOPE IS TRUE
I've posted our most recent podcast. Here
The first in a series of Halloween themed podcasts in this one we talk about lots of movies in the horror genre.
We are asking everyone to call in with the first scary movie ever seen and the scariest movie ever seen.
Feel free to call with yours
1-205-332-1240
Everyone that calls in will get a free cupcake. lol
I meant to link to the website
Here
Apparently Tobey McGuire caved and is going to do 2 more Spiderman movies with Sam Raimi. Hopefully they will be more focused and not as jumped as #3 was.
jumped = jumbled.
Jordan - been meaning to say -
Welcome back to the NW man!
(I'm always late)
MB - intriguing. The Sun can be eccentric with the accuracy of their sources, but it might be nice to wrap up the Time War story before El Moffo takes the reins and it's a way they could do it.
Did you catch this similar unverified rumour on the same site?
Mr Bill - iTunes downloaded your podcast yesterday. Looking forward to it.
Jordan - it might be time for The Lizard soon, then!
Is it wrong I want to buy One of These?
heck no. you need that to beat nomads in the desert with.
what's up, blogspotica? today's burger day destination is... Wendy's. eat accordingly.
/twss
- i know nobody else is following the LOST ARG at this point, but i've been keeping up with it. One of the new challenges is to create your own multiple choice test about any subject you want. I decided to take it seriously and spent quite a bit of time making a quiz about Greek mythology, using LOST references as the basis for each question. I was pretty happy with my finished product. Then, ofcourse, the website failed to save the quiz!!! so pissed.
MB - i'd check the Dr. Who thread on the board for some bad news
:(
- best wishes to the hurrispotters. This one looks like it's going to be rough.
it's getting rough indeed. i'm at home right now. we're expected to get 35 mph winds later this afternoon. the coast is flooding. keeping my eye on the news. they just said and i quote "we will not go back for one more stupid person" the coast guards are refusing to get people out that were told wednesday to leave. people are starting to go up on their roofs because the water is getting crazy.
in case you wanna track what's going on.
www.khou.com
ally, stay as safe as safe can be! you too, robert. scary stuff.
but...
clicking on that link, there is a fucking Tina Turner ad on the main page that features a billion stories about hurricane Ike. fantastic!!!
Stay safe Ally and Robert. I hope your power stays on (best case scenario) or gets back on fast (worst case secenario).
Holli
that channel has a reporter named Tina, they were making lame jokes earlier about it.
"did ike get you tina? are you there?"
I'm over Macs.
there's a guy in a bear suit walking along the sea wall right now. some people are just trying to get on tv at this point. there's still not a hint of rain yet, it's just wind.
did you really blow away everything or did you create a new installation and a new user account? the old account isn't laying around on your hard drive somewhere?
man, that blows. were you distracted cuz you were watching "So You Think You Can Dance: Canada?"
bears are hurricanes' natural predator, ally.
I'm wearing my
Bears.
Beets.
Battlestar Galactica.
t-shirt. Would that work on a hurricane as well?
Kim -- I'm gasping at the horror for you and running to back up my computer.
Holli
There seems to be a gas rush going on right now around here.My tank is full or else I would be filling up too.
I guess people are thinking that the storm is going to take out the oil refineries.
Is this happening all over the place or is it just us hicks in Alabama.
Well the refineries are shut down for now. I know that when Katrina and Rita hit it took months to get the refineries back to full capacity. The other problem is the price. If the refineries are hurt, back up they go.
Holli
the gas stations around here all ran out of gas yesterday, by this morning gas was up over $4 a gallon, when i pumped gas yesterday morning it was $3.42
Great. I'm on E.
Steph, the network E!?
Holli
Steph you are in B'ham right?
I live about a mile or so from the Talladega speedway and there are a couple of stations on my way into work that had signs on the pumps that said "out of gas".
that's the first thing i thought too. i'm assuming E as in empty, even though, how cool would it be if steph was on E!
Gentlemen of the blogspot be careful who you pee next to.
Holli
"Blogger Stephanie said...
Great. I'm on E."
You're on ecstasy?!
/methylenedioxymethamphetamine
The police are now directing traffic at two local gas stations.
It's a mad house!
Gaspocalypse Now!
a term usually only used after eating too much take-out. ;)
One guy was pumping gas and the fumes ignited and his arm was on fire and he was running all over the place waving his arm around after the bystanders put the fire out the police took him away to jail.
For waving a FIREARM!
Ha!Ha!
LOL
Ugh... I don't know exactly what I did
I WAS watching "So You Think You Can Dance: Canada" at the time--I won't watch it again!
heheheheh. i like that one, mr. bill. sometimes, the worst jokes are the best.
I let Mr. Bill's paranoia get to me and found lines at our gas stations too. What's more gas went up $.14 since Monday. So now I'm on F.
Holli
Thanks palmer.
...and the gaspocalypse continues.
memphish, the network F?
Mr Bronson - I'm afraid I'm going to have to give you an E, Zammo
Zammo - Thanks, Mr Bronson! I'm on the SKAAAAG!
E's Are Good!
None for me - I'm feeling like death warmed up.
since i'm getting a cold, i took some medication (not e) and passed out for a couple hours. i woke up and it's dark and super windy! i'm like, WTF? oh right, we're expecting a hurricane.
still no rain, just wind. now they're giving out curfews so that no crazy people are running around town at night. there's already been 2 fires in galveston and the firefighters can't get to it because it's flooded everywhere. they also already arrested 3 looters.
Ally - please hunker down and be safe - I know you already are though.
sending good thoughts your way
Wow Ike might get as far as Springfield Illinois in 48 hours
Google Hurricane Tracker
Take care ally! and the rest in the path of this thing!
Robert
Forget to add that the beach house we stayed at this summer for a week, on the farthest end of West Beach, is already gone!! Incredible, as the storm is still almost 75 miles away.
Robert
Just saw a report on TV that we have streets in the city of Houston already flooding with salt water which has come through the various bays and manmade waterways. No RAIN yet. Guys and gals not familiar with this area, Houston is about 50 miles inland. This is really turning into a freaky storm.
Robert
er.... sorry to dissuade the topic from killer hurricanes with stupid names... but
Hole in the Wall? it's quite good. Although... The main catchphrase.... it's a little bit flawed.
"It's time to face the hole" ?!?!!?!?!
it's full of TWHS. proper lol.
Robert
pStay safe, hurricaners. This looks like the big 'un.
Haven't there been plenty of ethnically-named hurricanes? I seem to remember an Eduardo...
heheheheheheh.
yeah, definitely more important things to complain about than that.
like "why the hell am i watching wayne brady's game show?"
oh, yeah! roller derby girls.
stay safe, everybody! thoughts are definitely with you all.
In Wayne Brady's defense, his Vegas show at the Venetian is frickin' hilarious. I went under protest, but he is really a comic genious. Every show is different. Who'd a thunk it?
Robert
MB, are you and 'Mac' out there? Did I read that our beloved Kim is having problems with a Mac computer? I take that as a personal attack. :) I am probably the biggest Apple nerd on this list. Certainly the oldest! :):)
Robert
I heart Wayne Brady.
Like I just said on twitter, It's freakin crazy at the pumps this evening.
- just got back from seeing "Burn After Reading". It was solidly funny throughout. As you can tell from the commercials, its got the heightened screwball comedy acting from everyone, but its tempered with the Coen Bros. dark sense of humor. It was great and will probably get even better with subsequent viewings.
- it's raining here, what's it doing there?
Anyone here watch Life? I just watched the Pilot and saw Big Mike and Juliet's sister from LOST.
We've been getting clouds from Ike, yes this far away. You can tell by how they move counterclockwise, but I hear it's not too rain intensive so we may not get much rain.
The gas stations here are nuts too.
Holli
Holli, I am a big "Life" fan. Love it. They have, however, given it a Friday night time slot where it will probably fail. Damian Lewis is yet another British actor who absolutely nails an American accent. Love the former dallas cowboy cheerleader, his partner, as well.
Robert
ROCK
RIDDLE
mature much??
:)
boobs.
Robert
