Thwip, Snikt & Bamf is totally going to be my law firm name. If people came up with law firm names instead of band names.

I have to be honest with you guys. I really like this episode. I just finished listening and i think this is the most natural that Ben and I have ever sounded on a podcast. not saying that we are fake normally, but there was something about this recording that felt like we werent doing a podcast. Sorry if the check card and comic talk is boring, but i sort of like it.

Call us and let us know what you think about anthing we talked about. I would really like at least one person to hang out with us at the Flyers game on friday, i think it would be a lot of fun!

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

That last thread must be the shortest I've encountered since hitting this blogspot. i think I might be firmly out of ny "newbie" status. I'd offer to answer questions about myself you "y'all" can get to know me, but I think I might be actually trying to craft some kind of enigmatic personality. If only I could type in my silly podcast voicemail voice.

In the last threas, Aimee said:

"Thanks guys! Thuys!"

Aimee...? Are you referencing... Look Around You!?

Doctor Who/Torchwood chat - there is a second series of Torchwood on its way, featuring a guest appearance by everyone's favourite "how old?" faux-English vampire punk poet rock star Brainiac, James Marsters.

Jordan said...

I'll see if I can make it Ralph. Traffic on I-5 is a bit of a bitch on Friday's though.

Ralph- said...

Ghostwatch, it is from Look Around You, which is something that the dharmalars/lars cant get enough of. If you listen closely you can hear me say Thay and Thack in this current episode.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

Has Look Around You hit BBC America? I remember Matt Groening referencing it at some comedy awards a couple of years back (during which, Look Around You resolutely won sod all), but I figured he'd been sent a copy.

The main scientist (who in the second, slightly differently themed series was named as Peter Packard) was not only in Spaced and Shaun of the Dead but was also very genuinely the voice of Darth Maul. This fact is quite well known now, but I like to drop it in whenever I can as it usually hits a few new people each time.

Ralph- said...

Both series of Look Around Yog have hit BBC America and i love them both to death. I just wish that they would release the DVD for region 1. fucking region encoding!

Benjamin said...

Look Around You, Flight of the Conchords, and even the great Tenacious D are all things that I discovered by leaving the channel on after watching something. And I love them all so much. I'm sure I would have found FOTC and the D sooner or later, but Look Around You may have taken a while. Thank heavens for remote laziness.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

"Look Around Yog"

Now THAT's how to reference. Smooth.

We've had a call from "Bournemouth"... from Bournemouth!

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

ALSO - I'm happy to make DVDs of both series available to you without worrying about region encoding.

I don't know what to do about PAL playback though - I think making it NTSC will be outside my powers.

However - johnnyghostwatch@gmail.com if you don't mind me having a go.

ghostwatch, a program I use call dvdshrink allows you to copy dvds and remove regional coding. It's a free program. Just do a google search and you should find it easy.

Stephanie said...

Wow, ralph-, you bank in Walker County, Alabama?

Ralph- said...

i am not sure Steph. but my Kinecta is in Brea CA.

Ghostwatch, is that something you can send to dharmalars@gmail.com? not sure how that works.

elias said...

you can remove region encoding from your dvd player using the remote control.

google your dvd model followed by "region change".

peace and love

Stephanie said...

The bank that my husband chose is so far freakin out of the way of our house because he has an aversion change charges such a huge fee to use the ATM card that I worry about bouncing checks so I don't use it except in emergencies. I hate that bank.

Darryl Cunningham said...

Very natural sounding podcast, as you say.

Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, is one of my fave films of recent years. Shamefully overlooked when released, although it got great reviews. Great script and direction by Shane Black. If only it had been a success, we could have had more.

Mr Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, is the name James Bond is known by in Japan. Nothing to do with the film, but it is a cool title.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

Jordan, Elias. Both these things are true. DVD Shrink is what I would plan on using, but even once you get rid of region encoding you are then left with the PAL/NTSC problem.

It's not really a problem in the UK as we've developed PAL 60 - a technology to enable us toview imported NTSC videos, DVDs and videogames on our screens purely because as a people we got sick of it all and became importers.

I'm not sure there is an equivalent technology the other way around, beyond the PAL to NTSC converters that used to be sold in American sex shops so that customers could import hot German videos.

That's what I meant.

Jordan said...

Haven't listened to the new ep yet. But I have to say that I really liked Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. For some reason I was expecting to hate it, but I was quite surprised. I normall hate Val Kilmer, but he was great in this role. Definitely a movie to stick in your queue.

Speaking of queues, is anybody else not able to access the friends feature on netflix? It says it's unavailable. Also, is there anybody else on here who wants to be netflix pals who I'm not already with?

LOST Question of the Day: Danielle's backstory -- lie or truth? And did she arrive pre- or post- Purge? Beat the rush in discussing this issue now before Jay & Jack discuss it.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

I'm inclined to believe that most of what Danielle says is the truth. From a certain point of view.

A batshiat crazy bitch who lives in the jungle point of view...

And she arrived in '88, right? And when was The Purge? And is The Purge "The Incident?" That'd put The Purge pre-Marvin Candle with one arm. But if "The Incident" is pre-Purge or non Purge related then The Incident doesn't help us date The Purge at all. :(

Trevor McFur said...

I think that Danielle believes that she's telling the truth, at the very least. And I tend to believe her too, and think that she's one of the good guys. I still wonder what 'the sicknes' is, though.

I think that she got there post-purge too. '88 sounds right for her arrival date, since Alex is 16 and Danielle was pregnant when she got there. I think that The Others were already in charge and running the show when Danielle arrived ... and already up to their baby-nabbing shenanigans.

Stephanie said...

Yes Holli, I feel like my avatar for I'm at work. Dealing with people sucks. I really need a job where I have no contact with people. Sorry, I'm feeling a little jaded today.

Live action Teen Titans movie.

PalmerEldritch said...

trevor, that is the haircut of champions.

PalmerEldritch said...

we're getting close to a kablamo.

Trevor McFur said...

A Teen Titans movie could be good, especially if they do the Terra/Deathstroke storyline. I hope that it's not in the same vein as the recent Cartoon Network series, though (which was shi'ite).

Benjamin said...

Agreed that the Judas Contract storyline would make a great movie (especially for me because it's my favorite Teen Titans story) but I don't know if any studio will ever have the cojones to make a comic book movie where the first one isn't done as an origin story.

PalmerEldritch said...

knowing the WB, they'd disallow Nightwing to reference Batman. So, he'd just be some Rando. WB stinks it up.

Benjamin said...

That's a good point. I don't know how they're going to explain Nightwing without referencing Supes or the Bat (the non-Aimee version.) Come to think of it, there's a lot of properties involved in a team that started off as all sidekicks. Ralph and I touched on it briefly, but I really enjoyed Geoff Johns reboot of the Titans franchise. I used to be a huge fan back in the day.

Trevor McFur said...

You're probably right Palmer ... and would they allow any of the 'sidekicks' if the adult characters (Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Arrow) have movies in production? It would be cool if they could somehow acknowledge that the films they're making are part of the same 'universe' ... that way they could make all of these films independantly of each other, and maybe give little shoutouts to the other heroes, if they wanted to.

PalmerEldritch said...

i remember Clark Kent couldn't name his dog Krypto on Smallville because WB was making a Krypto the Super Dog cartoon and didn't want viewers to be confused.

and they can't have Bats or Wonder Woman on the show as it would confuse people because of Batman Begins and the in-development WW movie. and they can't call The Flash by that name since they wanted to make a Flash movie.

WB is annoying.

am I going to watch Smallville and see that Clark has a dog named Krypto and then freak out cuz i can't understand how Clark can have a dog named Krypto while there is simultaneously a Krypto cartoon?

"how does that work?! is Clark a cartoon too?! is krypto's new owner a baby clark under an assumed identity? did superman die in a fire and krypto had to find a new family? what does this mean for the Smallville crew?!"

I just called him. He said he must have been drunk if he said that. I don't know where I got it. Maybe he WAS drunk. I know somebody told me because I can remember hearing the story several times. Maybe if was my grandfather who told me. Maybe I was drunk.

Jordan said...

That's creepy MB. Damn crows.

Last summer there was a couple groups of rival crow gangs or something that would hang outside my apartment and have super loud crow shouting matches. It was the most annoying thing ever. They went on for weeks. One day I snapped and went outside and threw rocks at them. I hate crows.

Finally finished the new lars. I got to agree with Ralph. That was the most natural you guys have sounded.

Regarding the Superman debate. On the topic, I totally agree with Ralph. Superman is lame. Not so much as in, he isn't powerful. Just that his stories are boring. Seriously. How many times is Lex Luthor going to try to kill Superman with kryptonite? For me, Superman suffers from a lack of interesting enemies and villians. But back to the debate. I gotta say, I don't think either Ben or Ralph clearly won. Ralph somewhat let me down in his case. And for one of his arguments, Ben went with, "His cousin is hot." Nice. lol.

Benjamin said...

Well, she is.

Stephanie said...

Interesting article on crows of the Pacific Northwest.

PalmerEldritch said...

Aimee, would be proud because I actually have read a book. Sure, it was a year or so ago but it was real long and about Crows.

The whole Supergirl thing in the comics is way too confusing. And, hell, I even read the new comics where they re-introduce her for the first time. Or something...

Bat's found her spacepod under water and then she popped out or something and was Supergirl. Is that (from Batman/Superman) the official story now?

memphish said...

Since we're talking about comics, having read Watchmen and really enjoyed it, I'd like another self-contained, pre-packaged story like that. What do you guys recommend so that I can ask for it at the Comic Book store? I'm not afraid to admit weakness at the comic book store and I don't have an hour to spend there.

Holli

Trevor McFur said...

I think that the whole Supergirl story is confusing too. She's dead, she's alive, she's this girl, she's that girl. Agree with the hottie part, though. Of course, the real hottie in the Super family is his OTHER cousin, Power Girl.

memphish said...

Is Handsome Jack really going to get this job?

Holli

Benjamin said...

Holli: Well, I would recommend Supreme: Story of the Year if you had any background in reading Superman comics and other vintage stuff. It stands alone pretty well, but it adds a whole other dimension of awesome if you know all the various originals they're riffing on.

A self-contained awesome story that you can buy (in installments) is Sandman. Very great stuff from Neil Gaiman. It's like ten books, though, so that's a bit of an investment. But it's totally entertaining and beautifully done.

PalmerEldritch said...

What did everybody think of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

Uh... The comics by Alan Moore. Not the movie...

PalmerEldritch said...

holli, i remember liking League of Extraordinary Gentlemen but i'm having trouble remembering which TPB was which. there are, at least, two collections of their comics.

Wonder Woman is the shizzy!

PalmerEldritch said...

Kim, only four more season and you're caught up. If you don't sleep then you should be able to do it in...

43 minutes... 22ish episodes per season... 4 seasons... 60 minutes in an hour... 24 hours in a day...

Uh...

Pretty soon?

Mike Campbell said...

palmer - the comics were amazing. I keep reading there is a new one coming out "The Black Dossier" but i haven't heard anything about it for awhile. I like most Alan Moore stories, but "Lost Girls" was a bit much.

PalmerEldritch said...

i read about Lost Girls at AintItCool...

um... yeah. that's the one with Wendy and her brothers in some huge orgy or something?

that's fucked up.

Benjamin said...

I enjoyed the Leauge of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but I always wished there was a pop-up video version to let me know all the cool references I may have missed. I also like Moore's Top Ten, but that's not as self-contained as I would like.

Kim, if your Bluetooth is hidden by your hair I can only imagine you look like an utter madwoman muttering to yourself. Which might be a pretty good defense mechanism in the big city.

Trevor McFur said...

A great graphic novel is 'Kingdom Come' by Alex Ross. It's a little heavy in DC mythology, but still enjoyable even if you're not quite sure who's who. It's an 'alternative future' novel, where Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc are all old, and come out of retirement to deal with the new generation of more destructive superwhippersnappers (it's actually really intelligent and serious in tone, despite my silly description). Alex Ross' artwork is photo-realistic, and is just beautiful to look at,independent of the story.

Speaking of Smallville Kim. The best interchange between Ben & Ralph in the newest lars was this:

---------------------------------
Ralph: "Can you believe this new Flash Gordon series from the maker or Smallville?"

Ben: "Yeah! How awesome is that gonna be?!"

Ralph" "I dunno. But I hope it's not like Smallville."
---------------------------------

It doesn't translate as well in word form, but it cracked me up for some reason. It was the way Ben was so excited and Ralph so sarcastic afterward. You guys are like a modern day Martin & Lewis.

Stephanie said...

I just looked at my skymiles (or what have you) to see if I could actually make it to ComicCon. I could probably get to Texas. Don't know how I'd get the rest of the way or get back. At least I could get that far.

PalmerEldritch said...

kim, are you ready to bitchslap Lana yet like the rest of the civilized world?

Trevor McFur said...

Two other classics for Holli:

Batman: Year One, by Frank Miller. It's a retelling of Batman's first year as a superhero. Kind of the same feel as 'Batman Begins'.

The Dark Knight Returns, also by Frank Miller. This is another alternative-future type, this one about old Batman coming out of retirement to fight some old enemies (and old friends).

PalmerEldritch said...

Best.review.evar!

Frank Miller's All Star Batman & Robin is apparently absolutely horrible. This review makes it well worth it. Absolutely hilarious.

t-dot kim said...

Trevor McFur said...

I've heard that All Star B&R is to be avoided like the plague. All-Star Superman is supposed to be pretty good, though. Not sure if there's any other All-Star titles or not.

Ralph- said...

I LOVE FLASH GORDON the serials. i am not really into the movie that much, cause it goes against what a serial is, which is a series of shorts that end with cliffhangers. I am not a fan of Smallville, mostly because i dont care about superman.

I am hoping that the New Flash Gordon series isnt about young Flash coping with all the shit that young Clark does in Smallville, but it looks like they are scewing younger. I give it one episode and that cliffhanger better grab me, or i am done.

Steph, fly to Oklahoma instead, rob a car, kidnap craig and drive to san diego.

PalmerEldritch said...

trevor, you'll want to read that review. hell, you all will.

Trevor McFur said...

Palmer ... wow. I wouldn't have believed the review if they didn't have the panels right there. WTF happened to Frank Miller? I can't believe that some editor didn't say something like, "Hey, you know, this kind of sucks." Maybe he has full creative control.

PalmerEldritch said...

"Dick Grayson... age twelve."

-i'll be the dissenting opinion on Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. i wasn't very impressed with it.
It's good points:
*I enjoyed Robert Downey Jr. & Val Kilmer's performances. I actually really like Val Kilmer in most things. Real Genius is one of the most perfect movies ever made. so that wasn't much of a surprise. But, i usually hate Robert Downey Jr. He usually plays every role with that attention-craving drama-queen desperation. Here, i found him funny and human. Like the dharmalars said, this performance actually made the Iron Man casting pretty cool.
*I enjoyed the comedy of errors premise
It's bad points:
*i've seen the post-modern hollywood gumshoe story too many times. It's really stale to me. The neo-noir film has been done to death since the early 70's.
*As much as Downey's performance kept me aboard for all of the hijinx, at no point did i care about the central mystery. It felt like it was secondary, which is fine, great even, except that it became the central focus for the climax and resolution.

Perhaps it was victim of its hype (online hype was pretty furious) or the fact that i've seen way too many movies.
I recommend Robert Altman's "The Long Goodbye" Stick it in your queue.

-Just watched Michael Moore's new documentary, "Sicko," about the US healthcare industry. I really disliked Farenheit 9-11 because i felt Moore was intellectualy dishonest in a lot of places, and was very wary of this film, but i have to say it's really strong. He's forgone the stunts (except for one at the very end) and really focussed on letting the stories speak for themselves. He makes his biases very clear, but argues his points effectively. i'm very open to seeing someone make a film with the counter argument, but i think it would be extremely difficult. I definitely recommend seeing this.

-For comic stories. I recommend Hellboy: Wake The Devil. It's actually the second Hellboy trade, but it's a very complete story that does a great job of giving you everything you need to know with a big, fun story. i read it first and then went back to read Hellboy: Seeds Of Destruction and i've been thoroughly hooked on that universe ever since.

-I also recommend the 1st 2 volumes of Lone Wolf & Cub. That series is thoroughly brilliant. I recommend the 1st 2 because it begins in medias res and takes a little while to unfold the bigger plot.

I have the Chin book!!!!! WooHoo!!!!!!

And I'd nominate an Altman film for Stick it in Yer Queue as well -- Shortcuts. Also, my all-time favorite dumb summer movie: Summer School.

L on my forehead - lmao

confession - I had only listened to the first phonecall when I wrote my last post (and then had to leave to run an errand) and assumed it was the first in a bunch (which BTW - WTF...NO DRE?!?!? damn) -
I came back to the office, listened to the second call, began immediate slapping of forehead (attempting to knock the stupid out of my brain).

Funny - I guess I should call you guys sometime.

Actually - I am going to be sending you an intro hopefully this week.

Glad to hear the Chin book made it to its newest destination. I hope you enjoy it :)

So I am walking down the street in downtown Seattle during my lunch break today, and what do I see out of the corner of my eye? A crackhead lady in an exposed alley about 6 inches from the sidewalk with her pants around her ankles squatting & pissing all over the place. It was disgusting and really caught me off guard. She was spewing like a fire hose. It was really weird as this was right in the heart of downtown in the middle of the main shopping area. There were people everywhere. I'm sure she had no idea what was going on around her. Worst of all, I think I accidentally made eye contact with her. I know, I know. It's disgusting. But I had to tell somebody.

MB- i had cut the show, put up ben's call and got a call from Dre right after the show was being uploaded to the net. He will be the first one on the lars line next week.

We are also looking for more Intros.

Bless your heart, Jordan. lol.

Stick it in your queue- either The Last Waltz or Seven Samurai. Dumb summer movie- Better Off Dead. I take that back. That's a great movie.

Stephanie said...

I suppose I'm in an amorous mood now, Holli.

Trevor McFur said...

I second Better Off Dead. Stephanie, I love that movie ... must have seen it 50 times as a kid!

/Two dollars!

What to stick in your queue? I won't go with Oldboy as I think that is pretty well known by now. Instead I'll choose Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. It's by the same director, Chan Wook Park, and part of his series of revenge movies. Top notch. Another movie would be Equilibrium. Cool, stylish action film starring Christian Bale. Basically Fahrenheit 411, but with human emotion banned instead of books. Looks like a Matrix rip off at first glance, but is not in the least. Lastly, a comedy called Sour Grapes. This isn't a classic by any means. But I find it funny. It is both written and directed by Larry David, of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm fame. The movie got skewered by critics and even David himself admits it's not the best thing in the world. But it still has some good laughs and lots of the Larry David observational humor that many have grown to love. So go ahead. Stick that in your queue and smoke it...uh, watch it.

Steph, I thought you were a Skater though. Jate kiss, very confusing. Lucky Mr. Smith tonight though, eh?

As for stick it in your queue, I've got a "go out and buy it, assholes." It's the BBC Planet Earth series which you can get at Target. I bought it for Hubby for Father's Day and we're just getting around to watching it and man, it's awesome. And I don't like nature crap. I'm so not a Mutual of Omaha girl, but the shots they have in this thing are amazing. Tonight's episode, great white shark takes down a seal. That's Incredible (to quote a really bad show that aired in the '80s.) The best parts are the end where it shows the film crews getting the footage. The only thing they could have done better was the music. So buy it. It's not cheap, but buy it, or at least watch it.

Jordan said...

I 2nd Holli's suggestion. I have watched maybe 5 or 6 of the Planet Earth episodes on Discovery HD channel and they are amazing. Especially in HD. The show is great regardless, but some of the hi-def shots are simply jaw-dropping. And I'm no nature documentary type either. But those shows are bad ass.

Stephanie said...

Holli, as far as Jate/Skate goes at this minute I'm rather disinterested. I was just looking for something that represented the opposite of my previous avatar.

Stephanie said...

holli, I've always wanted to ask you- is a pinky promise a binding contract?

PalmerEldritch said...

what the hell plugin do i need to vote on The Two Minute Debate? i'd like to be able to vote.

the voting's a great feature. it really opens up the debate and lets the people weigh in and join the debate.

i think in the future, when people think of Mass Debating, they'll think of Ralph and Ben.

PalmerEldritch said...

oh. and i can't says as it's "recommended" but if you're looking for a hilariously bad movie, look no further than Hoop Soldiers.

it's about a woman who works on computer games (despite being a lawyer according to the back of the movie sleeve) being forced to go behind her family's back in order to investigate her brother's on-court death in THE WORLD OF HIGH STAKES NO-HOLDS-BARRED CAGE BASKETBALL.

and for something hilarious, gory, and not nearly as awful, try Dead Alive (or Brain Dead) by Peter Jackson. spot Isildur in his second greatest role as "guy who works at a pharmacy."

PalmerEldritch said...

apparently going for the uninterrupted posting trifecta, i bring you Hoop Soldiers. just choose your format once you get there.

Ralph- said...

Planet Earth is the only thing that i have seen that you all have suggested.

I will stick all that stuff in my queue and will have to think of another one for tuesday.

FOR THOSE THAT LOVE PLANET EARTH!

BBC did a series a few years ago called Blue Planet, YOU HAVE TO SEE THAT! a polar bear grabs a whale out of an ICE Hole and eats it!!!!

i also need to see LIFE IN THE UNDERGROWTH by BBC

Stephanie said...

dharmalars.net is knocking me offline. My fragile Vista can't take it.

Gonna join the chorus of those who can't vote. Tried at work, tried at home ... just get a blank window. I want to vote too!!!!

-p.s. Forbiden Zone!
-p.s.s. as much as you love Forbiden Zone, do not trust Richard Elfman. He will lay in wait for 19 years before releasing the abomination that is "Modern Vampires" on the world. (which features an opening credit theme by Danny Elfman. 'save us baby brother.')

Ralph- said...

Dont forget Shrunken Heads which i believe came out before the shitty Modern Vampires. Shrunken Heads also had a theme by Danny, and was also shitty.

If you have seen the movie Freeway, that has more music by Elfman and was written and directed by Matthew Bright (squeezit/rené henderson) from Forbidden Zone.

I do not recommend Forbidden Zone to anyone....at all. BUT, it may be my last Stick it in your queue before LOST starts back up. Forbidden Zone is single-handedly the most bizzaar, creepy, strange, offensive, creepy, scary, awesome movie i have ever witnessed.

Forbidden Zone is an Aquired Taste! if you dont believe me, Check out the reviews on Netflix.

By the way, The Forbidden Zone is the first song that transformed The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo into Oingo Boingo, which you heard on the latest podcast.

DO NOT WATCH THE FORBIDDEN ZONE*

*unless you are okay with the most fucked up strange nightmare come to life. it just so happens that Ryan, Ben and Myself love this film.

memphish said...

I'm so glad it's not just me with the voting. I'm in email contact with Producer Ryan. He says it's his fault, and I'm willing to blame him and gave him my vote. If you can't vote, email Ryan. I'm sure he wants to count votes by hand. What with all the phone calls to sort -- ooooh! Calling the 'Lars out now.

Andrew, if you've made it this far, where did you see 'Sicko?' I hear there's talk of rich, no seriously rich, doctors in countries that have national healthcare, and Hubby and I and mini-me are willing to relocate. We all have passports. Oooooohh, sore subject again.

The shark taking down the seal, it's what I wish Jack had done to Ben in the finale. Grow a full pair man. That's all I gots.

P.S. That wasn't all. Casino Night is one of the best Offfice episodes ever.

Ralph- said...

i think that my favorite office is The Client.

Ralph- said...

OH, casino night has one of my favorite 3 minutes in OFFICE history!!

Michael talking about how he wants to live in a world where it is okay to tell a good AIDS joke. The Lincoln Assasination just became okay to joke about. "I need to see this play, like i need another hole in my head" GENIUS!
Then right after that Toby lists all the reasons that it isnt okay to have the boyscouts join them for Casino Night, and his list of reasons is hilarious, but not as hilarious as Michaels Reaction to toby!!! HOLY COW, i cry laughing everytime i watch those two scenes!!

Stephanie said...

Andrew, did Michael Moore leave you with the impression that if it weren't for all the pharmaceutical company's lobbyists
in Washington, we'd be in a different boat?

We're getting up to that number of posts when you never know when or if someone's going to open a new thread.

If you couldn't vote on Dharmalars.net, try it now. Ryan fixed it.

Old Indy -- I hope they don't screw it up.

LOST QOTD: Why were people separated when the plane crashed, e.g. Jack in jungle/Rose on beach, Sun and Jin, Walt and Michael, Nikki and Paolo? Dramatic effect or something else?

Is it wrong to take your iPod with you to "Evan Almighty?" My son "really, really wants to see it," and it looks awful. I looked into mobile blogging, but it's lame, so my iPod is the next best option, right?

PalmerEldritch said...

holli, our Lostaways bounce.

i think that when the plane hit, they scattered all over the beach. all random like. so, some people bounced one way and others a different way. think of them like human pinballs. except much less ridiculous. i think the pairing being split up was A) to show the chaotic nature of the aftermath, B) be dramatic, and C) cuz it'd be pretty boring if everyone where all like "WHERE'S MY SON?! Oh. He's right next to me. Sweet."

how Jack managed to get thrown all the way over there and be ok, i don't know. maybe the bamboo helped cushion the blow?

I'm one of those befuddled listeners that doesn't know where to stick my comments...myspace, the phone line, here, there.

But I'm trying this out for now.

I really want you guys to stick this movie in your queue: Brick

Would love to hear your comments on it.

Thanks for doing what you guys do!

Ralph- said...

SMKGrl, i will bet you anything that ben will use this film as a Stick it in Your Queue recommendation before too long. that dude loves that movie and is a huge supporter of it.

PalmerEldritch said...

i remember el Benzo talking about Brick when he was talking about the Brick dude's bank robbing movie.

memphish said...

Steph, I forgot to answer, a pinky promise or any other promise is a binding contract if there is consideration. Consideration is a necessary element of a contract, which confers a benefit on the other party. Valuable consideration can include money, work, performance, assets, a promise or abstaining from an act. You can read more about consideration here. Thus ends the lesson in contracts for the day.

Brick was my favorite film of 2005 and is probably in my top twenty of all time. So, great call smkgrl. Ralph is totally right that I'll add that to the stick it in your queue segment sooner or later.
