Happy Valentines Day Indeed
Me name's Desmond. I enjoy walks on the beach, buildin' crazy things outta old bits of stuff like golf clubs and all that, and readin' me favorite writer Charles Dickens, and gettin' me honor back. See ya in another life, brotha.
If he can match his performance in the S2 Finale, and the story be as interesting, this could be the year that Desmond becomes coolest dude on the Island.
I completely agree with you here Jimmy. I think that Desmond could definitely compete with Ben as the most interesting character - if the writers play their cards right.
Or he could go the way of ana lucina or whatever the crap her name was. Desmond, i think, is one of the best characters on the island. As long as they don't make his "ability" too strange i am sure he will be fine.
I really hope they will explain what happened scientifically, if they dont I will be upset with lost for getting too sci-fi, bad cheesy future seeing sci-fi
Boy crazy Aimee strikes again with yet another LOST beefcake. :)
Casey, I'm not too concerned with a scientific explanation of Desmond's super abilities since they already have a GIANT FREAKIN' SMOKE MUNSTER on The Island.
I just hope they don't over-explain Desmond's powers. If anyone starts talking about Midichlorians, I'll be reaching for the remote.
The difference between being a true Lost fan, and a "fair-weather" fan, is that even when they answer these smaller mysteries that aren't to your liking, you don't reach for the remote.
The basis of this show is still remarkable, and that's why we're all still here.
The drop in ratings over the last season - those are the fans Foxy was talking about in the EW article; they didn't have the patience to see the entire story unfold.
I am supercurious about what they were talking about with tonight's episode and the flashback style ("something we've never done before.") It sounds really cool, I'm so excited!
Work was canceled in anticipation of a huge ass snowstorm that's currently hugely underwhelming. So, I've got all day to anticipate LOST.
Do you guys (and gals) think that Desmond was always a precog or that this is new after the implosion of the hatch? I'd hope that it was new. Otherwise, wouldn't he have an idea that the boat trip was not going to work out? And it would sort of make his self-sacrifice less noble when he goes to detonate the fail-safe in the hatch.
"Desmond, turning that key could kill you!" "Yeah... Uh... It could but... uh... Don't give my stuff away for a few days just in case I live, k?"
and i have faith in a logical explanation for the monster, didnt the cuse and lindeloff once say that everything on the show could be explained scientifically? i think tha makes the show stand out over other sci-fi shows of the past
I'm curious too. Actually I'm a little scared...although I loved the other 48 days episode which was very different.
I think I may go Spoiler-Lite for the rest of the way this season. That is I'll read the individual spoilers online, and listen to podcast spoiler sections...but will avoid whole episode breakdowns ahead of time.
Hey...some serious LOST theories I've been kicking around in my head. Pretty sure these aren't original thoughts, but I think I agree with these:
1. The brainwashing room (#23) could be where Walt was brought, and Mrs. Klugh threatened him to go back to. It kind of makes sense...since the rooms music has hidden backwards audio..."only fools are enslaved by time and space". Walt didn't seem to be enslaved by time and space, and showed up a few times...and speaking backward. Maybe he went through the room and it activated the abilities in Walt that they wanted to.
2. Mittelos = Mittelwerk. Yes, Mittelos is a anagram for Lost Time or Time Slot...But it's also very close to the Lost Experience game's, head of the Hanso Foundation...Dr. Thomas Mittelwerk. I think we are going to find that the Hanso foundation is going to appear more...in the show, not just the Lost Experience.
3. Could Desmond no longer be "a fool enslaved by time and space". He seems to know the future. But maybe to him, he's coming to realize that there is no future. Possibly his contiousness is jumping around in time... Maybe he was in the brainwashing room in his past.
I'm wondering if Desmond has become like Billy Pilgrim, the character in Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, unstuck in time. This guy found himself experiencing his life out of sequence, as he shuttled up and down his own timeline. Hard to explain, but the book makes it clear.
I think that the Slaughterhouse 5 reference could be spot on with Desmond.
I don't think anyone else will be joining the fan club and buying one of those. :(
- Another idea about the brainwashing room. Do you think they could have been pulling those images from his head. Maybe wiping them from his mind. kind of like the Haitian can do on Heroes.
Oh good, Ralph. I'm almost out of toilet paper. I should probably stock up.
SadAce, #1 - sounds very cool. Stay tuned for season 4 of Lost. #2 - I don't know about this one. And I don't think their releasing any new ARG stuff. #3 - Very fitting that the Stephen Hawking book was planted in 3x07 because it's all about time and space. Cuselof wasn't kidding that a lot of shit they're going to be introducing on the island has to do with this kind of stuff.
I said it in the previous discussion, (but right at the end so was probably missed), I think that the "something we've never done before" thing that cuselof were talking about, is that desmond's flashbacks tonight are actually gonna be flash-forwards...
datty mike, do you mean that The Island bits will be present time and the flashforwarding flashbacks will be the future? Or do you mean that the episode will take place in the past and his flashforwards will take place on The Island?
If they do in fact mean "flash forward", that would actually be pretty awesome. And it would mean at least one person makes it off the island in the end.
That chick in the photo doesn't even look like Penny. But the chick they cast in season 2 looks decent enough. For a cow.
I'm an equal opportunity blogger. Desmond gets the spotlight today because its his episode this week. We can talk about boobs or whatever after tonight.
datty mike, that spoiler-filled link you posted is just staring at me daring me to click it.
It's like Hurley and the Ranch Dressing. Can I stave off the temptation of the rich, ranch flavored goodness of the spoilers just one click away? Or can I wait another five hours and live spoiler free?
I very much aggree with becoming unstuck in time. Aimee you should read slaughter-house five. That would be sweet if someone tells desmond he has become unstuck in time. What that means is at any point in time the character Billy would be in one time frame and then next second he would be at a different point in his life. He keeps going in and out of moments that kinda relate to each other. I just finished re-reading it when i was subbing. SadAce gets the win in my book for the day.
Palmereldritch: its not major spoiler teritory. I can tell you now, its got me stoked up for tonights ep. i'm pretty sure its Season 2 office, then christmas special.
Aimee: Footballer's wives is a program which has been running in the UK for a couple of years now, and its bloody awful (its the european version of the term footballer - scoccer player for you Americans) basically about a bunch of page 3 girls plotting to kill each other.
Palmereldritch: When your finished with The office, check out The mighty Boosh. Its the greatest comedy show currently on in the UK in my opinion (probably being show on BBC America). majorly surreal, and bloody brilliant!
That's good that you could make use of the shitty weather! I'm beginning to see the potential of Macs. Of course talent and creativity play a huge role as well. But some of these programs I've seen on this machine look supercool. I liked your choice of music as well!
its funny you said you like the music, if there is one compliment i get the most about my work it is that I use music very effectively. maybe I should be a sound editor? i dont know, I like all of it.
and the band is called architecture in helsinki, one of my favorites
After shoveling most of the driveway and then ejoying a romantic candle lit dinner with plenty of french fries, I'm back in the mood to watch The Office and obsess about the upcoming episode of LOST.
Everyone, throw out their predictions now so we have them timestamped and on record.
My prediction: Paolo and Nikki will be annoying but at least one of the Dharmalars will forgive her because of her tight shirt.
Wow, did anybody get anything done at work today? Beautiful, Casey. Beautiful. We started the new computer system at work last night and I didn't kill anyone. Good news for The Office. Rashida Jones has been cast in the pilot of a new show! Jam!! I won't get to watch tonight because I have to leave for work at 9 central. Now I how European fans feel.

Sawyer better watch his back. Or shoulders. Cause that dude looks effin' hot.

There's a new sheriff in town. :)

Don't worry Casey; Lost has never failed us in the long term, so I have faith they will do good by us on Desmond.
Boy crazy Aimee strikes again with yet another LOST beefcake. :)

Happy V-Day. Desmond rocks.
I think that the show is Sci-Fi!!
i think it got into sci fi as soon as they showed the black smoke monster in "Exodus"
Not only a smoke munster, but also a soaking wet kid popping up out of the blue, talking backwards, and then disappearing again.
The difference between being a true Lost fan, and a "fair-weather" fan, is that even when they answer these smaller mysteries that aren't to your liking, you don't reach for the remote.

I never advocate the use of full episode description spoilers. That's just stupid and defeats the purpose.
Spoilers shouldn't "spoil"; they should just tell you what you have to look forward to.

CLICK HERE if you are a true LOST Fan! Jimmy asked for this a while ago and i am happy to say. It is finally up!!!!

Shit herself with glee, eh?
So, I guess the astronaut and the ninety year old stripper were on to something with their diapers after all.
datty mike, do you mean that The Island bits will be present time and the flashforwarding flashbacks will be the future? Or do you mean that the episode will take place in the past and his flashforwards will take place on The Island?
And Ralph,
Nikki's looking pretty good there in black and pink. Ga-row!
Island bits will be present time, usual flashback moments will instead be flashforwards.
If they do in fact mean "flash forward", that would actually be pretty awesome. And it would mean at least one person makes it off the island in the end.
And it would be right at the end of the episode when the bomb drops.
boom!
I need to stop clicking the back button and staring at the beefcake picture. Quick, someone distract me!
heres a distraction...

episode synopsis from usa today's critics corner.
critics corner
those who like to live totally spoiler free may not want to read.
but a brief quote that everyone will want to read:
"this hour is the season's best and likely to be one of the series' most dissected and discussed"
woooooo! can't wait.
You should put up some glamour shots of the Ladies of Lost for us fellows. Can't be hogging the Blogspot with only beefcakes.
/misses Shannon

I'm an equal opportunity blogger. Desmond gets the spotlight today because its his episode this week. We can talk about boobs or whatever after tonight.
Think we'll ever learn more about "Lift it up, brothah?"
Does (did) it actually mean anything or was Desmond just trying to make up a catchphrase?
forget about desmond!
me, ben and jimmy are already boobie talking it up, over at the dharmalars blog!
see ya suckaaaaaahhs!
Boobies?!
There in a sec, Ralph!
Lift up your eyes and look north. Just kidding.
Desmond just said it in reference to Jack's leg; I don't really know if there was more to it than that.
datty mike, that spoiler-filled link you posted is just staring at me daring me to click it.
It's like Hurley and the Ranch Dressing. Can I stave off the temptation of the rich, ranch flavored goodness of the spoilers just one click away? Or can I wait another five hours and live spoiler free?
Kiele Sanchez has a new gig in the fall in some show called the Footballers Wives...do you smell that? I smell an "iconic" character's impending doom!
I very much aggree with becoming unstuck in time. Aimee you should read slaughter-house five. That would be sweet if someone tells desmond he has become unstuck in time. Hey, so, just watched Series 1 of The Office (UK). Do I follow this up with Series 2 or the first Christmas Special? What's the viewing order?
Help me, Internetica, you're my only hope!
Palmereldritch:
its not major spoiler teritory. I can tell you now, its got me stoked up for tonights ep.
i'm pretty sure its Season 2 office, then christmas special.
Aimee:

FOR AIMEE. for whom i apologize.
ANOTHER WALLPAPER just for Aimee.
confirmed:
season 2 of the office orginally aired in the UK in '02.
chrimbo special was 26th dec 03.
Didnt Cynthia Watros get signed on to some other show, right before she bit the big one on LOST?
datty mike,
thanks! now i can watch most of series 2 before LOST tonight. and then move on to the two christmas specials later this week.
Yeah, i think so.
Oh shit, i just realised who Kiele Sanchez is. shit.
nikki is d-e-a-d.
Or maybe Nikki carves up Paolo and makes a boat out of his corpse so she can sail off to reunite with her one true love Jimmy in Seattle?
And Ben and Ralph on Tuesdays...

I'm giving it to the red sox as part of the application process to be an ingame cameraman/editor/instant replay person, what do you guys think
sorry for the plug
Palmereldritch:
When your finished with The office, check out The mighty Boosh.
Its the greatest comedy show currently on in the UK in my opinion (probably being show on BBC America). majorly surreal, and bloody brilliant!
Nikki can row to me from the Island anytime she wants :)
Mike, I hope that book makes a cameo in Lost. Any excuse to pause on Infinite Jest works for me.
Nice work on the video, Casey. I hope you get the job!
thanks aimee, the shitty weather in boston caused my school to close at noon so I spent my day putting it together, its semi productive
That's good that you could make use of the shitty weather! I'm beginning to see the potential of Macs. Of course talent and creativity play a huge role as well. But some of these programs I've seen on this machine look supercool. I liked your choice of music as well!
