God I wish I knew what you were all talking about. I feel like such a loser.

As for my Lost Library journey, Rainbow Six is an excellent book, and I've actually found two decent Lost references in it (finally). During one particular hostage situation, a little Dutch girl was killed, and her last name was Groot.

The other reference is the subplot that's actually been the focus of the entire book, and involves a hippie scientist organization with a "life extension" project, and other Hanso-ish aspirations.

am i spelling parthenogenesis correctly? i tried cutting and pasting as well as typing it out.

Is anyone else bored to fuck of the Lost ARG, maybe i've just lost momentum or something, the podcast the guys do at the lost experince blog is quite good though.

Sorry to seem so non-plussed - just had a day from hell, 14 hour day at work, and i've burnt myself to death in the uncharecteristic British hot weather - still, there's always Cobra beer - it's pretty relaxing...

cobra beer sounds dangerous! i am just starting to get into the ARG, and i dont even know what ARG stands for!

Artificial Reality Game, i think.

Cobra beer is an Indian concuction - doesn't taste so good in the morning - i thought it was apple juice. Hopefully, won't get pulled over by the police today....

Hey, I don't mean to talk about Lost here, but I was thinking about Desmond (to get my mind off H.G.), and I was wondering how likely it would be for them to bring him back in Season 3.

I have no scientific knowledge whatsoever with regard to catastrophic electromagnetic machines, so I don't know how unlikely it would be for Desmond to have survived shutting down the system. However, there are a few reasons I have to believe it could go one way or another:

1) In the season finale, we learned that Desmond set out to redeem himself and regain his honor for the sake of Penelope. By shutting down the system, I think he did that. Judging by this, and my theory about redemption = death, maybe he's dead.

2) The introduction of Penelope, and the reveal that she will be a part of season 3, gives me reason to believe Desmond will survive. Otherwise, Penelope would be chasing something, that we all know as viewers, won't be there if she was to ever find the island. I just don't know if the writers would purposefully write a season about a wild goose chase that we already know the end to. So for that, Desmond survives.

On a totally unrelated note, I'm still racking my brain to try and figure out why the Others were particularly interested in Jack, Kate, and Sawyer AND what they could possibly want to do with them. They seemingly have nothing in common except for a now lame love triangle, and then once Sawyer met Kate's mom.

If the Others are allegedly "the good guys", then I don't think they'd want to kill them, so the only logical possibility I can come up with is they're going to break their will, give the three a "stern warning", much like the Hunting Party, probably reveal a little more about their motives, and then set them free again. We can hardly believe they will be missing from the main group for very much of the season.

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

P.S. ARG = Alternate Reality Game

P.P.S. Rainbow Six was awesome! Good Lost junk here.

of all the bullshit that Henry Gale has spoon fead us, i believe that they are in fact "The Good Guys"!!!!
ben and i had a discussion about this after the podcast, which is no good for you guys.

i feel that they wear the messed up clothes, so that if they were to get caught by the "Bad Guys", that they will be able to blend in and pretend that they are "The Others".

Jack Kate and Sawyer are the most influential people to the survivors of 815, who are trying to expose Gale and his Cronies for what they really are. Gale and goodwin are making sure that that the survivors are going to keep their nose of their business.

Tom told Jack that he should not cross that line. It was an agreement, you leave us alone and we will leave you alone. jack crossed the line, and all bets were off.

i believe that if jack and the other survivors just stayed on the beach, and didnt wander into "their jungle", the survivors would be living it up in paradise.

i want to know where aaron fits in to all of this mess!

Good analysis Ralph! You make a great point that J-K-S are the biggest influence to the other survivors.

The only thought I came up with was that they were all involved in The Hunting Party, which is how the Others know about them, and yes, they were involved in the line-crossing situation. I know that Locke was also, but I think we're all pretty sure H.G. has different intentions for Locke. If their process of selection was based on their influence over the rest of the survivors, I believe they would have selected Sayid as well.

So, we know WHY the Others took them, but we don't yet know what they intend to do with them. If H.G. keeps his word, which I believe he will, they won't be harmed, as he promised Michael. So what then???

Their interest in Aaron is no doubt tied into their interest in Walt and Alex. Like H.G. said, they "got a little more than they bargained for" when they took Walt, which is why they let him go. Alex seems to be just another cronie, so maybe they're simply taking the children to raise as their own.

I know that sounds lame, and way too simple for the writers of Lost, but Alex is the only example we have that shows what they do with the children they kidnap.

Ralph- said...

are they kidnapping, or mearly gettting to the kids before the "bad guy" others get to them. where is emma and her brother? i dont think that HG and Tom have them. i think that they are .... shit... goodwin's others said that they were safe. where is the "good guys" real base of opperations? i believe THAT is the real "?" !

fuck this show. it is killing me.

another long summer, huh guys?

What is the ARG?

Dylan

Ralph- said...

it is the online lost game!

go to http://www.thehansofoundation.org/
and fall deep into the rabit's hole!

Ralph- said...

Alternate Reality Game seems to be the popular theory

aimee is lost said...

Dylan, in short, it's a global scavenger hunt for clues and information based on things from the show. Mostly, it's been information about the Hanso Foundation. Television commercials, websites, telephone numbers, email addresses, and newspapers around the world, all have hidden clues about "what's really going on".

By the way, it's good to hear from you!

Ok cool...i wasn't sue what the ARG stood for either, so the information from all of you following the game is great! I am often out of a loop a bit but I enjoy trying to catch up when I can. Good luck to those playing along. Thanks a bunch for posting!

You just type "Parthenogenesis" into the hidden text box under the picture to the right of the caption. Hit enter. I've already done it, and to make sure I just did it again and it worked. make sure you spell it right!
